Now to explain why I am having this auction:
"Your daughter has leukemia" are the words I never dreamed of hearing. But I heard those words at 2am on February 1, 2011 as my 3 year old daughter (Zoe) was asleep in the ER bed. It was a punch in the gut like no other I had ever received. The thing with leukemia, they waste no time starting treatment as the next day Zoe started her chemo regimen. Over the next 858 days, we had many battles and bumps in the road, but I am happy to report she is doing well and is in remission.
Over those 858 days, Zoe would spend 126 nights in the hospital and receive over 46 blood transfusions. June of this year she finished her last chemo. It has taken its toll on her little body. After the first 30 days of chemo, Zoe could not walk as the drugs weakened her legs where she could not stand. 10 months into her chemo Zoe contracted a fungal infection in her lungs. Having no immune system for 10 months, this was a very serious situation. She was started on, and still taking to this day, very powerful anti-fungal medication. Her body would continue to endure the harsh chemo. Her taste would come and go and the same with her appetite. She became very thin. A year ago Zoe's liver was not metabolizing the meds and was starting to become very unhappy. At the same time, we learned one med she took just 5 days of every month caused her to be diabetic when on the med and her blood sugar to crash when she came off of it. 4am one morning, we had a trip to the ER via ambulance as her glucose fell to 30. To help with this she had an NG tube for 10 months. Through all this, Zoe lost her hair 3 times.
Zoe’s cancer is gone but she has not healed. Chemotherapy leaves a worn trail of physical and emotional side effects: muscle weakness, foot drop, tremors, insufficient adrenal function, brain fog, liver damage, fear, anxiety, and low self-esteem. And then there are those effects that do not show up until years down the road.
One method we are using to help Zoe get stronger, build her self esteem, build her confidence, and help her heal from the effects of chemo, is using therapeutic horse riding. We have her riding at an organization called: ManeGait. Their mission is: "children and adults with disabilities move beyond their boundaries through the healing power of the horse and the dedication of a professional, caring community."
This organization is having what they call "Gaitapalooza", where Zoe will be a rider in this event. You can see her page here:
So this is what this auction is about. I am auctioning these games to raise money for ManeGait. Please support Zoe in this event.
Thank you for looking at this auction.
Unfortunately, Zoe's leukemia has also dragged me away from gaming. I have a good number of games, but just haven't had a chance to play.
EDIT: 10/27: This auction is now completed. I will be notifying each of you to finalize and arrange payment/shipment.
Thank you all for participating in this cause. My daughter Zoe is very thankful as well as my entire family.
