So, I finally reached the threshold of 1000 registred plays. It's not really the number of plays I had, even when I take out all the plays of my young lad days playing games like Risk, Stratego, Top Trumps and the likes. I only started to register all my plays here at BGG a little over a year. For instance: I'm way over 10 plays of Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game, but my records only show 4.

So, for what this list is good for? Well, only to spread my imense knowledge and insights about games. Or, maybe not! Anyway, it is a mark to celebrate.

The most played: 56 plays

Arkham Horror and I have a long relationship. It was, along side Zombies!!! and Cults Across America, one of the first games of the "new generation" that I came to know, because of the purchases of a friend. But Arkham was by far the one he and I most liked. It almost took the place of our weekly RPG sessions, and we played almost every day for months. He then bought two expansions - Arkham Horror: Kingsport Horror Expansion and Arkham Horror: Dunwich Horror Expansion - and, thus, came more plays. It really helped that he, another one of our friends, and I enjoy quite a bit the Mythos. Eventually life got its way and we couldn't play together anymore. For many months this was the end of it.

But then, another friend of mine took me to a small gathering of players and the spark was there again. Afterwards, I bought Arkham Horror from my friends - the same beat up copy. I then proceed to add all the expansions, some fan content, some things made by myself, and so on. Now I do get to play it around 10-15 times a year, which is quite high for my standards. Also, I manage to bring back the original owner of the game to play with us from time to time!

Some advices? Well...

- Avoid playing with more than 4 players, the downtime can be huge (if your character became Lost in Time and Space, you can take a nap);
- Over some amount of plays, the base game will become rather easy to beat, so expansions for this game - at least Dunwich Horror - is a must if you like the base game but wants more challenge;
- The painted minis of the monsters are pretty (well, most of them), but aren't really useful for the board size and quantity of monsters in Arkham Horror;
- Arkham Horror isn't a faithful recreation of the Mythos universe. It is, more so, a summer movie based in the Mythos.

2nd most played: 38 plays

It was the art that lead me to Onirim, but it was the gameplay that kept me there. It is really simple: put three cards of the same card, in order, without repeating the icon. In your turn you play a card in your tableau, or discard a card from your hand, then you take a card from the draw pile. Do that until you find all the doors to get out of the dream world, or, if the draw pile exhaust, you lose. There are cards with the key icon, which you can use is some other ways, and the Nightmare cards, which are bad and harm your plans.

This game is really well designed and can be played in under 20 minutes. My games were, usually, really close, since you don't lose by mid-game (if you count cards, you might know that you already lost the game, but I don't, so it always seems that I have a chance to win until the last few cards).

I also like that Onirim has a cooperative 2 players mode.

Advices:
- After a while, the base game might become easy - you can easly change this by adding the Book of Lost and Found expansion (which comes in the box);
- Sleeve the cards - you will shuffle this cards a lot.

3rd most played: 35 plays

I must say I don't like to go after games that already have expansions. I know I don't have to buy the expansions for a given game, but it bothers me nonetheless. And Sentinels already have three expansions. But the attraction was too strong: cooperative and with the theme of super-heroes? I resisted for as much time as I could, but caved in. Now I own everything it has for normal sale (so, except the promos) and I don't even budge when I remember that I will have to buy another expansion - on the contrary, I'm actually looking forward to it!

The game is sure fiddly with all the tokens for life and modifiers. I don't mind this at all, and it is far from overwhelming.

The theme is strong, with the art made to remember comic books, funny quotes all around, great art, huge replay value. I'm always looking foward for my next play.

Advices:
- The downtime can be a problem with 4 or 5 players. I usually play with 2 or 3 - the game is also tougher with these counts, which is a plus for me;
- Not everyone wants to play with a support hero, ask first if the person wants to help others, manipulate decks and things like this, or prefer to bash villains. This will greatly help the game.

The rest of the Top 10 most played:

4. Lord of the Rings: The Adventure Deck Game - 29 plays
A great surprise. A PnP game that I had for quite some time but, until this month, I haven't tried. But no more! It is a quick game (5-10 minutes), offering a good amount of choices. I did made a slight modification to the original rules: the free rest only happens until the 10th spot in the time track. After this, only paying with time.

5. Lost Cities - 28 plays
It is hard to play this game only one time. Usually I play 2, or 3 times in a one go. Now I play this game less, because for 2 players I prefer Onirim or Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation, for a confrontational 2 players game, although the time slot this game requires is bigger.

6. Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age - 27 plays
Not many face to face games for this one. But I played a lot through Yucata, which presents a really great adaption. I would really like if I had the option to choose the Late Bronze Age, that I liked more, but the vanilla game is fine.

7. Love Letter - 26 plays
Love Letter took our group by storm. So far not even a single one of us disliked, which is nothing short of a miracle. It became the non-official filler of choice. And at least 3 or 4 others alreay purchase their own copies. I printed a fan adaptation - Lovecraft Letter - and now I only take this one with me.

8. King of Tokyo - 25 plays
Well, I sure like King of Tokyo quite a lot. But, unlike Love Letter, KoT do have a long line of haters. Not only people that are neutral or prefer not to play, but really players that will put the name of the game in the dirt and step on it. I'm sure that I could squeeze a play here and there, among the other players, but for some time I'm avoiding taking the game to our meetings. But I expect that the new expansion will add some renew interest in the game.

9. Witch of Salem - 24 plays
I almost didn't bought Witch of Salem - there were too many bad reviews and comments, especially about how the theme was hair thin. But the art was cool, and I gave it a go, when it appeared in the online store I used to buy games from. Glad I did. The game is fast and is brutal. Easily the hardest cooperative game I ever played. So far, 3 wins in 24 plays. A 12,5% win rate. Since the difficulty of the game was bothering some of my fellow players, I made two modifications: 1) regarding the Necron track - players can pay with Sanity to avoid the marker to advance; 2) the player order every round is decided by the players.

10. Gears of War: The Board Game - 22 plays
Ah, my second favorite game. The gameplay is awesome, the theme is thick, the difficulty is high. And as you can probably tell already I'm a fan of cooperative games. I still haven't played all the scenarios in the base game, because I only go for the next when I win the previous one. And, boy, some of them took a while to beat, and I can even say how much time will take for me to win some of them again.
