Games Played at Southampton on Board on Monday 21st October 2013.

Still few in numbers, and few in plays, a small crew of gamers held the fort while some of the long term members continued their absence.

I arrived late to find the group were well into the scenario "Defend the Mansion" where the four humans played a prolonged game of cat & mouse with the hapless zombies. The zombie task was simple enough - get 9 zombies into the mansion, but obviously their brain-lust meant they would always follow a human instead of venturing into the mansion.

The human strategy was a stroke of pure genius that caused much shrieking and wailing of disbelief from Luke "dice-hate-me" Zombie - basically Russ's farm girl headed into the cornfield and ran in endless zombie tempting circles rarely taking a scratch as Luke and Rachel rolled and rolled endless duds.

After what seemed like hours, glory was about to shine on the humans as Tom threw his lighter toward a dousing of gasoline, large enough in size to destroy all but a few of the apathetic drones, alas it wasn't to be, the flame was lost in the last second! A chance transformation of one human into a zombie was all it took for the tide to turn and as the sun began to rise the last of the humans became dinner for the growling undead.

Corn it seems, was the real winner here.

Continuing the earlier theme it was time for more Zombies, this time of the D6 variety. This nifty little push your luck game saw very few points brains in the bank after the first couple of rounds. It seems Luke's earlier dice misfortune had taken a turn for the better however, with his final collection of brains the envy of even Dr. Hfuhruhurr. I tried and failed to match it, Jacob having little to start with almost scored a glorious hat-trick, but still not enough to take the crown.

A little leader bashing where necessary (thanks Jacob), and a few unfortunate early sightings of the Princess led to a fairly rounded game with all players earning some tokens of affection, but ultimately the victory would surely be mine.
