Thursday the 8th November - Unsure of total amount as had to make a dash for the Biffatory (think there was 15 gamers).

7 of us eagerly sat down to play Caverna (Agricola Adv), 5 newbies and 2 who had played before. This game has a MASS of components, which unfortunately did start to run very low just before the game end. The time is estimated at 30mins per player and it took us around 4 hours with 7 players, with 5 who hadn't played before (Kevin who hadn't played Agricola before either and still did well).
This is a very difficult game to judge on what to go for as there is such a lot to consider, there is not just the normal 3 areas of focus, them being Animal farming, Arable farming or building upgrades. Gone are the individual hand of cards at the start of the game (to some peoples glee), instead there is a larger selection of building upgrades that can be bought - all of which are single tiles except normal dwellings. Gone also is the requirement of some form of cooking device as this is in-built into each of our Dwarfs caves. These two differences seemed to speed the game up considerably as it allowed you to focus more on your end game scoring than your food engine (however Dwarfs still need to eat - food for thought).
What is extra is that only half of your board is for farming, the other half is for mining and expanding you cave system to buy your upgrade tiles and extra Dwarfs. There are also Donkeys and dogs, gone is reed and in it's place is ore and rubies. The big difference is that the ore can be used to provide a Dwarf with an adventuring Weapon of varying levels. Once they have a weapon thay can go adventuring to bring home loot and increase their weapons level. The higher the weapon level the better the loot, the better the adventure the more loot. The clever part of placing your Dwarf workers is that they must go in ascending order of their weapon level with your best Dwarf going last. But then there is the precious Rubies that all Dwarfs love - the joker resource that can be exchanged at ANY time for lots of different things including letting one of your Dwarfs jump the cue and player earlier in you Dwarf order.

Overall a great game with multiple options, loads of components (although a little short of a few with 7 players). I think the end scoring was close with lots of different strategies in play. I love Agricola but it may have to be No.2 on my list now.

Yes Will, you will love it !!

Some of the other games played.

First up was Nosferatu. It's like resistance except somebody sits out each game playing as renly.

Jurg, Dani, Biff, Twin1 (sorry couldn't remember who was who), Crayg, Twin2, Gary and Iestyn played 3 games.

First game saw Crayg rightly staked using Biff logic.
Second saw twin2 rightly staked by twin1 using some sort of twin telepathy.
Third saw Dani incorrectly staked by twin 1, much to Jurgs joy.

Biff, Crayg, Jurg and Iestyn had 3 rounds of Rallyman. Biff taught and so we played the basic rules.

Biff led most of the way, Crayg drove off the map as much as possible. Iestyn managed to sneak a win on the by using every shortcut he could.

Paul, Iestyn, Gary, Nathan, Steve? (sorry, names escape me) played a very low scoring game of Dominion Intrigue.

Saboteur was in play so no one could build a decent enough deck to get going. Game ended with 3 piles being emptied.

Nathan won with a score of 22.

I found intrigue much more confrontation than the original.

Johnny, Gary, Steve, Dan, Iestyn and myself sat down for an evening of backstabbing, beginning with Johhny's new kickstarter prize, Coup.

The game played out nice and quickly and we got in three rounds, with Johnny winning the first and my good self winning the other two with scrupulous honesty. It does have player elimination and a touch of king making (we had a couple of mexican stand-offs where three players could all launch a coup against each other) but it plays out so quickly that you're soon back into the game playing the next round.

After coup, the same group decided to continue the theme and play some Resistance Avalon. In our first game I was Merlin but unfortunately played it a little too low-key and didn't manage to turn the good guys away from the Evil Dan. Iestyn used the Lady early on to determine that Steve was evil but when Steve then viewed and confirmed that Gary was good, it sowed enough confusion that Iestyn was questioned, causing him to be dropped from the final mission in favour of Dan. Well played Evil Doers, well played!

In the second game Dan was the newly added Percival and unfortunately dropped a hint that Morgana-Steve picked up on, letting him identify Merlin-Johnny to Assassin-Iestyn. We kicked their asses in the quests but it was all for naught when Iestyn correctly assassinated Johnny, making two wins in a row for Evil Steve devil

The same group again finished with a couple of games of Nosferatu. The hunters didn't have too much trouble identifying first Steve (playing his third villain in a row) and then Gary as Dracula.

I'm yet to be convinced about this game - I haven't yet seen Dracula get even close to winning and I feel like he would need quite a lot of luck to stand a chance. The hunters get to play an interesting logic and deduction puzzle game while poor old Drac is playing the equivalent of a vampire themed push-your-luck card game

Five drivers started the formula D season, with the inaugural race held in Brasil using the track from the original game.

Dan took a commanding lead by the end of the first lap and never looked back, and Johnny, Jim, Steve and myself were left to battle it out for the remaining places. I was leading that pack going into the final lap but a poorly judged pitstop meant that I left it behind Steve and Johnny, though ahead of Jim who by this point had fallen a couple of turns behind. The three of us then fought for the entire last lap (Dan finishing an incredible 3-4 turns ahead of everyone else) but my rolling failed me at the last corner and I fell behind as Steve and Johnny battled to the finish line, with Steve just taking second place.

Several hours later Jim finished, making for a Wilkinson sandwich with Steve as the tomato, Johnny as the lettuce and myself as the pastrami

Johnny, Jim, Biff and myself sat down to test drive some 1NUW, played the first round with the basic set. As the Seer I peeked at the middle cards so when Biff and Jim both claimed to be villagers I knew that one of them had to be lying. Johnny claimed to be a robber that had chosen not to rob - also very suspicious! In the end I proposed a plan to kill both Biff and Jim, guaranteeing a werewolf death and giving the good guys the win... unfortunately things didn't turn out quite so well as at the final bell EVERYONE voted for me! It seems I am a naturally suspect person soblue

It turned out that both Biff AND Jim were werewolves so my plan was doomed from the start, but having my teammate Johnny vote for me as well was salt in the wound yuk

Round two we played with a random set of characters - Hunter, Doppelganger, Insomniac, Troublemaker, Wolves and Tanner. Doppel-Biff copied my Hunter so we were both safe and Troublemaker-Johnny targetted Biff and I, effectively making no change. Finally, Jim was agreed to be the Insomniac so we decided to make a neutral vote with no deaths. Except Jim wasn't the Insomniac, he was a werewolf, giving him victory in both rounds shake

I think this really needs more people though, maybe 5+?

Paul then joined us and we delved into The Cave, a first time play for Biff, Jim and I. Everybody went off in different directions except for Biff and myself, reasoning that even if we kept leap-frogging each other it would balance out overall and we'd probably get to a deeper depth than exploring solo. It didn't quite turn out this way though - even though we did dig the deepest, it was still only 100ft at best.

A couple of times I spent one action too many taking photos or exploring and had to roll back into camp, which over the course of the game probably lost me around three turns - very inefficient! And I lost my nice new tent!

I didn't really keep track of what strategies everyone else was following but mine was pot-luck - I tried to grab up pretty much everything I could get my hands on but ended up with only a second-place bonus token to show for it.

At the end we all made it back into camp and Johnny's stack of diver tokens gave him the edge and first place, with Paul and Jim close behind, then Biff and finally myself bringing up the rear soblue
