When Juan first said this had elements of Magic:TG-- I was a bit worried that my excitement to play this little game I have had on my radar for a long while was about to be quickly turned into disgust !!

But never fear and so happy to be wrong. The day/night stuff took me a sec to get my head around ( and I am still not sure I 100% get it-- but I think a few more plays and all will be good ...) but the flow and idea of this game are really marvelous. I always love 2 player card " do this to sides to make your side win something" sort of games and the card interactions are interesting enough without being super tedious and wonky ( A la MTG-esque games of " If it's the third thursday of the current moon phase and you have seven letters in your middle name and you are eating a Dorito, then you get 4 more actions.. etc.) -- I really loved this little game and can't wait to play it again !! I even didn't lose by an egregious amount !!

WOW !! Even more than I thought this was a blast !! Moves extremely quickly - I love Ra but I love the random excitement controlling the game much more than one's decisions about whether to initiate an auction or not. The way you denote the dice placement and scoring is a little wonky but a few more happy plays and I am sure this will all come together moreso as well !!

I even had a healthy lead for the first two epochs due to a lot of flooding-- I knew the day of reckoning was coming since Juan was getting tons of pyramids -- but add those pyramids to his causing plagues on both A-M and I and he ends up sweeping the sandy Egyptian floor with us !! I can't wait to play again !!

While Juan was starting the cooking of our game-day food and chatting with Tony and Aimee, Seb and A-M and I played one of my favorite games !! I love the food theme.. and I think the whole idea of the " chicken" ( pun intended ) of get a pile of each food.. but not TOO big a pile.. is really an incredibly clever mechanic !! And this is my only win of the day in a squeaker !! Seb had a very respectable learning game of this ( This game is not " hard" at all-- but the kind of planning you have to do to try to get foods in your hand AND get what you want on the king's table is FAR from obvious!) and I win by ONE card-- we had 3 different foods that ended up being valued at 6 points per card-- and I beat A-M indeed by 6 points !!!

One of my favorite games period!! Aimee and I started off really well making some good deals-- but it seems that definitely the idea to save up cards to be more active in later deals is the way to go. Tony always does well in alliance games and A-M is her usually sneaky self where she seems all so innocent and kind and she gradually gathers enough to often wipe the trading floor with you-- which she did !!

I could have given J a run for third at least on a very expensive deal where I was to get a nice 10 plus million chunk of change, Alas Aimee I'm the boss-ed me-- then I countered-- then she had ANOTHER one.. ::Sigh::

Loved our Sid S. puns too-- at playing of a recruitment triplet Tony and Juan said " Someone's investment card was ACQUIRED -- then someone said I know .. I CAN'T STOP!!" -- a raucous good time !!

This is a very clever and well put-together enterprise-- which I got to make history by having the perfect storm of how to do as horribly as possible in this game. I am not sure if this means this game should only be four players OR there is a broken mechanism despite this game's excellence. I am all for the person with the worst luck falling behind, that's just games in general-- but I got ALL the lowest money cards possible-- I never was able to buy EITHER of the limit increase cards until way too late and then the HAND limit cards were gone.. which LOCKED me into no way to ever get my income to where I can buy in the 2nd two eras. Shows what splendid company I play with though, that I still had a good time !! ( And I multitasked-- I got to help other people add their stuff, I do love math games-- and also I wrote sketches on two new pieces, part of a poem draft, part of this week's work lists and did 7 emails during my latter turns which consisted of being able to do absolutely nothing. LOL)

Also a game to make for funny quotes :

I need two waters and a man.
I need two dudes please.
During an A-M and A buying spree , " Kel ain't got nothing and I am surrounded by bitches with riches !!"
I'm really needing extra money for a man.

Our penultimate game was another of my hundreds of " little" games I am always trying to get more and more and more of to the table. This is another gem full of much more agonizing decisions than at first glance. One could just see.. oh wow, play your cards to try to get the most expensive item... YAWNNNNN.. but the idea of others trying to parse out the 2nd and 3rd items in the row.. plus the agonizing forced choice at times of being indeed FORCED to take a less expensive version of an item you already have makes this really a splendid little game.

And stop me if you have heard this before-- I have more money than anyone, I am doing a great job of getting trade ins to increase my 200/400k items to 600/700s -- wow.. I might win !!

Um, no.. J and A-M are too busy getting virtually ALL high ticket items and they handily destroy me. Can't wait to play again !

J 4.2 mill ( WIN)
A-M 3.8 mill

Our final game of the evening , occurring per the title of this list after the temperature throughout our game day went from close to 80 to a wonderfully brisk 40s was another recent Haba purchase.

I was very blessed as a kiddie that my Mom and family taught me all kinds of adult games from an early age-- tons of game show games ( 25k Pyramid, Password, Stratego, Monopoly , Hearts, Spades, Rook, Poker et al) but I indeed played the " KIDS" games all American kids do. And boy howdy, the more wonderful kids games I play, the more I realize how much Candy Land, Uncle Wiggily, Hi Ho Cherry O and the like really REALLY suck.

Those German folks are geniuses in showing that you CAN make kiddie games with incredibly simple rules that are extremely involving even for adults and are wildly creative!

This is another fine example.. a simple race game mixed with some memory and deduction elements controlled by a special die .. all with amazingly cool little witch meeples !! I love this !! ( Even though I was so brain dead from my Outpost disaster and my Dolce Vita miscalculations that my memory wasn't functioning too great !!)

AM wins our final game.. Juan 2nd 2 spots from the end.. Kel 4 spots from the end !!
