Well, I guess I get to be the first to post here. I just got my TSS box today - haven't opened it yet - I'm waiting till my other half gets home tonight! I can't wait to see what's in the box! Thank you, TSS! You sure are speedy!
Well, I didn't get to open this last night, as my other half (Jesse), had to put in some overtime and didn't get home till 11pm last night. So we will try to get it opened tonight. The project he has to stay late for is done now (hopefully) so he should be home at a decent hour this evening and we will open our TSS box then.
I cut the tape open and have been trying very hard not to peek - last year we waited till Christmas Day to open our presents!
Well, we finally opened our box - and what a great TSS we had this year! We received Battleball, Make 'n' Break, Traverse, Pentago, DaVinci's Mancala, Tic Tac Chec, Ninety Nine or Bust, Temple Run Speed Sprint, Star Quest, Set, Breakthru, Jacob Marley Esq, Employee of the Month, Sunset Blvd, and my personal favorite, Tigris and Euphrates!
I can't wait to give Tigris and Euphrates a try - I've wanted to try it for years! And everything else looks cool, too. We'll be getting together with friends for gaming on New Year's Eve, so we'll take some of our new games then.
Thank you very much to a very generous Thrifty Secret Santa!

I was surprised to get my gift from TSS on my doorstep when I awoke today. I opened it thinking it was a trade or other order, so I was confused at first. Thanks Thrifty Secret Santa! I've been wanting this one for awhile and kept putting off buying it new as I saw it on the thrift lists multiple times. So glad I waited!
Oh my! A package from one Thrift E. Santa arrived today, wrapped and mysterious. Now I'm wondering if the early package was an elf assist, or if this one is. So many thrifty thank yous to spread around! Thanks Santa/s!
Something else of note. Chrome just REFUSES to work with Photobucket. And/or Photobucket is having its own issues. I guess you only get one photo now.
Well the pics aren't fixed, but you can blame photobucket's editing feature. It's now doing that to every pic I've tried to resize. I'll just add the item, no pic here for now.
Starship Catan was the second gift from a Thrifty Elf Squad member. Thanks so much! There's a lot of bits for the various missions and it barely fits. nice. Merry Thriftmas everybody!
First let me say...
Best Secret Santa. Ever. I will add more (and some pics) later but I wanted my Santa to know that the package arrived in great shape.
Since the US Customs had already inspected the package, I thought it'd be ok to inspect as well. I found your note and since I will be using games in my classroom this week as we are approaching final exams and since I have a new lunchtime game group starting up right after Thanksgiving... I thought it'd be ok to check out the contents of the box.
My wife told me that if the games inside were in wrapping that I had to wait until Xmas. Luckily, they weren't!
It was a challenge to decide which game to pick as the entry as every game in the box is awesome! I ended picking the game my children asked to play right away - The German edition of Midnight Party. Thanks for including the English translations. All three of my children played a round with me and we all had a blast! Afterward, they were playing hide and seek in our house taking turns pretending to be Hugo the Ghost.
Also in the box...
A set of Wits & Wagers. I've seen this in the stores and considered it many times. This will be perfect for my classroom. We'll get it out this week.
Also in the box...
A full set of Qwirkle. Looks to be great fun for me and my kids but also for my special education students. Some of my Autistic students love abstract games like this. A perfect match.
Also in the box...
A few card games: Canasta Caliente, Split, and Loot. I nearly bought Loot to play with my children but was waiting for it to go to clearance and waited too long. Very excited to explore them all. Card games like these work well for my lunchtime game group.
Also in the box...
For the Win with the 3 & 4 player expansion. I just played Hive for the first time last weekend and enjoyed it. Another great game for me to play with my children and my students!
As if that wasn't already too much! Also in the box...
Three boxes of old Risk wooden cubes. Since we make a lot of PnP and have students design games, these will get a lot of use. In fact, a colleage/game designer just sent me prototype files for a new game to playtest and it calls for many wooden cubes. Perfect timing.
And lastly, also in the box...
Two brand new deck boxes for TCGs. These will be quickly filled with some of our Harry Potter TCG cards.
Santa. You really outdid yourself! I'm glad you had fun finding games. Each one will got lots of use!
Board Game: Dixit: Journey

My Santa knows how to confuse me... Received an Amazon box in the mail, and I was really confused because I didn't remember ordering anything! Opened it and saw Dixit, and again was thinking, I didn't order this! Then saw the note saying it was a gift.
I assume it's from my TSS since I didn't join any other exchanges, and I did receive a message earlier this week about something arriving.
That said, Thanks Santa!! We're going to make sure and play it this week!
EDIT: It is from my TSS, as I see the note inside said so. Was too busy looking over the game that I didn't notice that first.
A couple days ago I received another box, this time from some elves. Inside were a bunch of Heroscape figures, glyphs, cards, dice, etc! Thanks elves!
I got a big box from across the border today. Writing on the box let me know if was from my Thrifty Secret Santa!! Yeah! I quickly tore the name off the label so I would not know who it was, so your secret is still safe Santa.
Inside was a bag of goodies...
Inside that bag was some nicely wrapped presents...
Since there were no instructions inside, I put them in the closet next to the Christmas tree box. When the Christmas tree goes up, they will go under the tree and wait for Christmas day.
However, If I were to open one as a "late" b-day present (if that's allowed of course) which would Santa suggest??
Thanks Santa, I'll update this on Christmas day when I know what's inside!
Well, I opened one that my daughter picked out. The whole family had to gather around to see. Thanks for the birthday present your thriftiness I have not heard of Carcassonne: Wheel of Fortune, so I'm excited to check it out! My daughter took this picture...
Edit: 11/29/13 - Sorry, I didn't take a picture yet. My kids wanted me to open another present from my Thrifty Secret Santa. My daughter picked this out, since it was closest in size to "Pinata". I got a NIS copy of The Little Big Game of Shmoozel. Another game I've not heard of. That's two out of six so far! I'll have to dig into this one and find out more about it. It's a word game it looks like, I'm guessing it'll be up my daughter's alley. Thanks!!
Edit: 11/30/13 - Well, the tree went up today, so the remaining packages are under there to be forgotten about until Christmas morn. I'll update then.
Edit: 12/17/13 - I'm a little confused. I thought I had a Canadian Thrifty Santa, but a box arrived today from TX, addressed to me from Thrifty Santa. Is it really for me? Did my Canadian friend get some help from the Lone Star State? I put it under the tree hoping it's for me.
My wife loved the wrapping paper!
Edit: 12/19/13 - I've been sneaking to the tree when nobody is watching. I've figured out two things (or so I think). 1st, I have no idea what Thrifty Santa or his sneaky TX elf sent me. No clue! 2nd, I honestly think my wife wrapped and empty box and put it under the tree for me. She and the kids give me heck when I shake the presents and guess what it is. I think they are trying to fool me, BUT!! It's just air, so I figured it out. Jokes on them, right?, right? What say you fellow package shakers!?!?!?
Edit: 12/25/13 - Thrifty Secret Santa... I opened the gifts this morning and a big Thank YOU!! is heading your way! What I got:
Blokus: I've been hoping to thrift this one, my mom keeps talking about playing it with her friends and I was hoping to find it to play with her as well.
Frank's Zoo: Looks like a neat card game. I've never heard of it, so I'll have to check it out.
Ligretto Dice: NIS! Dice games are always popular with us and usually go camping with us. My dad loves dice games, so this will see table time with him I'm sure!
Bazaar: I've had this on my wishlist for a LONG time. Thanks for having a little help from down south to get it for me. I love it.
Clue - Discover the Secrets: My family likes Clue and all it's variants. Looking forward to trying it out.
Thanks for all the gifts and the generosity. I'm looking forward to playing them all.
Edit: 12/30/13 - Hey Thrifty Santa, if you are still checking out this entry... I got my wife to try out Carcassonne yesterday. We played it like regular Carc (no Wheel yet), and she really liked it (as did I). We ended up playing it 7 times yesterday.
Edit: 2/26/14 - Thrifty Santa, you still there? I wanted to let you know. Carcassonne: Wheel of Fortune has made it to my top 5 played games. It's become a go to game for my wife and I. Thanks!!!
"Come on! Come on! Come and get it, baby! Come on! I don't got all day! Come on! Come on! Come on you bastard! Come on, you too! Oh, you want some of this? "
I come home today, and what do I spy with both eyes: a box on the porch. And it says "From Thrifty Santa Box #1 of..?
Sorry, I just can't wait until Christmas. I rationalize that, because of all the Christmas stuff in the stores, Christmas is practically here anyway. So I tear it open and find:
A set of laminated Puerto Rico players aids! They're charts showing exact player setup for number of players (2 player board, 3 player board, etc.) Outstanding! Also:
A copy of Cheapass Games Deadwood with 5 expansions, as well as money and dice!
And finally, even though my wife is not a gamer, TSS knows (that sneaky old elf) that she loves spoken word recordings and audio books, so included was a copy of Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein: Book 2, City of Night" She says thank you! And I say thank you! (Can't wait to see what's in the next box...)
We received an Amazon package at our house on Friday, I believe. Unfortunately our internet has been destroyed by 80mph winds so I was unable to see if where this box came from. I didn't remember ordering anything recently so I did what anyone would do with a mysterious package delivered to their house...I opened it up!
It was a brand new King of Tokyo!
My daughter jumped for joy and we got it to the table this weekend. We all loved it except getting completely destroyed by my 10 year old...She's got tactics.
We received another package over the weekend!
Kids were VERY excited to open it up. When we did we noticed all the packages were nicely wrapped...
Now kids have to wait...HAHAHAHAAHA take that kids!
Thanks again TSS!
We opened the Stealthy Elf packages on Christmas!
We received the 1st version of Kingmaker! (YAY! including the blank cards)
Also there was the Lord of the Rings game!!!!
And last 'big' box was Ingenious!!! I am excited to play this again as it is something I somehow have not managed to find thrifting!
But last (and bestestest in my opinion) Was an AWESOME Subbuteo book titled "Flick to Kick" and has the history of Subbuteo! And it was even signed Merry Christmas from the Secret Elf.....
Thanks your Majesty!
Also...on another note...I have not beat my 4 year old at King of Tokyo in the last 6 games.....sigh
We received a package the other day. Were were not able to predict the amount of awesome that was inside.
A GIGANTIC KING OF TOKYO KNITTED DIE!!!!!
So much awesome! Here is a picture of it next to an England telephone box just to get an idea of the scale of this thing!!! it's MASSIVE!!!
Besides the game Wild Horses (which we like!)there was also a game called Swap and one called Chips!
And finally... All the games sent by my TS and the awesome sneaky Thrifty Elf as well!
Oh yea! and my kids have been fighting the last couple days on who gets to have the massive die on their bed after they make them....

Fierce Fish Win the Cup
A package was waiting on my porch today! I haven't opened it yet as I haven't heard from my Santa at all. I may or may not wait until Christmas..
(Edit) I have three packages, is that all of them? Can I open yet?
I swear I already posted what my presents were..hmm, may have deleted the wrong Dup. entry. Oops!
First box was - 1962 Acquire and Twixt! Yay, more for my growing 3M bookshelf collection!
Second box - (from Utah) 10 Days in Africa
Third Box - Guillotine, Tutankhamen, Waterworks, Splice Pirateology Card Game.
Awesome job Santa, I love all my goodies!!!
I got a package on my porch today from my west coast TSS. Santa has been awesome and has had a "little" help making sure not only my xmas would be merry but my two little daughters as well. I got three neatly wrapped presents that will get tucked under the tree until xmas morning.
I got another box from my TSS. Apparently, the first was from his elves. This was filled with thrifty goodies for my kids and my family. A huge, huge, huge thanks to my TSS and all of his helpers. This is going to be a truly wonderful holiday.
So the awesome as keeps on coming. Got a message that Santa had some sweets waiting for me at my local chocolate shop. They are delish says my eldest.
My TSS is on a roll. Another package arrived, this one was not wrapped so I can happily share with everyone. A very fun looking Star Wars card game that I haven't had a chance to try out. I think I will be able to try this out with my eldest Padawan very soon. Thanks TSS!
I LOVE TSS!
I got so many wonderful things from my TSS, I can't begin to say thank you!
Besides a wealth of wonderful things for my daughters, including stickers, princess storybooks, jewelry and cards. TSS came through in spades!
We shall start small and grow from there!
The Dark Side Starter Deck picture here:
And lastly, the piece de resistance!
My Thrifty Santa, besides being a quipster and a harsh taskmaster, is also a generous soul (deep down, behind the loose parts, neglected-puzzle dust, and tape-monkey corpses). He promised me that if I made my Wish List according to his instructions, he would send me some "stocking stuffers" for US Thanksgiving.
He is clearly an Elf of his word, as a package arrived today. And while I think I was expecting some packs of nudie cards, instead I got two in-shrink German kid's games. And I do mean German -- completely in German. However, he included English rule printouts, although my German wasn't too bad, once upon a time (very rusty now, but mostly capable of handling kid-game level text).
Mäuse Würfeln (aka Mice Dice) looks like a simple set collection game with cool cheese dice. And White Rabbit (aka Max Mümmelmann) is another set collection game, with bunny cards and a little wooden rabbit. Both of them are probably a bit ahead of my son, but I hope he'll enjoy them someday soon.
The main package has arrived. And although it was sent via UPS, who are usually bloodsucking jackals that love to add bogus "brokerage fees", it was handed over without the typical parasitic gouging. Truly an Xmas miracle.
Will fully document it tomorrow.
The big box arrived (four-year-old for scale):
Filled with goodies!:
Blue vs. Gray, a game long on my wish list.
And Power Struggle, in shrink. Another one I wanted. Nice!
Also, the "thrifter's version" of Heroscape Expansion Set: Volcarren Wasteland: that is, the lava terrain and the rules, but not the figures. No matter, the lava is the cool part!
My son also received a number of gifts from Thrifty Santa:
A nifty Bionicle set (I'll save it 'til he's a wee bit older).
A toy tool belt.
And a new Cat in The Hat: I Can do that!, which my son loves and has already played a number of times.
Thank you, Thrifty Santa...who I deduce to be none other than
Lock him up!
thanks to the German stocking stuffers (pretty rare on the thrift lists!).
What's in the box?
Lots of gifts.
And a game insert...
This is what I found.
Magic Cards! Already played twice with the 5 color elemental deck. Interesting.
Also included a copy of Takuya Osawa's pro tour card. Winnings as of 2007: $78,200.
Cool PNP copy of No Thanks.
Copy of Dork Tower magazine.
With Dork Frag game insert.
Miscellaneous game pieces. I'm close to a playable copy of SW Epic Duels.
Copy of Nautilus.
And Panzer General.
But what's this inside Panzer General? More games.
With fancy dice cup.
And some D&D scenarios we can try out.
Thanks TSS. That was a lot of fun.
I'm BullTaco and I approved this message.

and Wits & Wagers
What a great Thrifty Santa Gift.
Thank you so much! Our family will get lots of enjoyment out of these!!!
My package arrived today!!
Thank you so much Thrifty Santa! I'm not opening it right away, but I promise to post pix when I do.
Man! This really put me in the holiday spirit!
Thanks again to everyone but esp. my Secret Santa!
Here is the loot! My son has already requested a game of Cityscape! Thanks again.
Received a package safe and sound today from Thrifty Santa...
unsure if the contents are wrapped, box and all will get placed under the tree when it goes up... I won't be opening until Christmas... (I need something to open on Christmas)
26 Dec 2013
I was a good girl and opened my gifts on Christmas morning, despite mudslapper's encouragement to open early.... I have an artificial tree, so no water or sap was going to ruin these games...
The box stayed sealed until Christmas morning... I had no choice since my son decided to push the box all the way in the back of the tree, making sure I couldn't get to it and making sure I opened last on Christmas morning. But that's okay, two of his gifts ended up back there too...
With scissors in hand, the box was open to find 7 wrapped gifts.
I started small and opened Felix: The Cat in the Sack.
The cards are still shrinked. I almost bought this game a few weeks ago, had it in my cart, and when I went to check out it was already sold out. Guess someone was on my side that day, now I have my own copy and no longer need to look for it. Off the wish list it goes.
Next up was Catan Dice Game.
As soon as my husband saw Catan he took the box from me and started reading the back of the box, then pulled out the instructions and said this was going to be the 1st game to play.
Third opened was Ticket to Ride: USA 1910.
Cards look unplayed and very crisp. This expansion has been on my wish list forever. Now, I can't wait to play it.
Next opened was Scrabble Express.
Only the dice were in the pod, but that's okay, its still fun to play around with.
Monopoly Express was next.
Game looks unplayed.
Sorry! Express was next.
The pawns and dice were unsealed. When I opened this one, my husband said these would go great in the RV. Doesn't take up too much room and the pieces won't fall out during travel.
Last unwrapped was Pandemic. 1st edition.
When I unwrapped the game, I started laughing and said I'm having a Pandemic Christmas. I wanted this game so bad this year and my wishes came true multiple times. Here's why.... I entered the Holiday Cheer 2013 Math Trade and had a match for a shrink copy of the game. 2nd edition. And then my main Secret Santa also sent me a shrink copy of the game, the newest version. So, I ended up with 3 copies of the game but all different versions. But, I will be playing this copy since its open. Also, included in the box is a printed and sleeved CDC Agent. I was counting the cards today and noticed that I'm missing 1 infection card (Miami) but have 2 extra ones (Cairo & Mexico City).. I also have an extra player card (Essen).. Does anyone have a extra Miami infection card from the 1st edition? I really can't wait to play this game, and will be setting it up this weekend and have the family play a game with me.... and don't worry about the multiple copy, I was going to trade/purchase for the 1st edition and the newest one all along.. and besides, if we like this, like I think we are, one is going out in the RV so I don't have to keep bringing a copy back and forth for trips.
Here's a picture of the now unopened gifts....
Thank you so much Thrifty Santa Tim, you have brought many smiles to our faces in the unwrapping of the gifts. Each gift was very thoughtful, and will get played many times. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart....

Hey Santa! Just wanted to let you know that I received the package today. I will update this tomorrow with details and a flood of thanks.
I want to apologize in advance for the novel I am going to write below.
Sorry for the delay. We got an offer to buy our house out of the blue this week and things have been crazy!
Anyway, this year is my 3rd year supporting BGG. I have been a member since August 2011 and a thrifter since Dec 11, 2011 with a purchase of 2 copies of 1313 Dead End Drive.
This is the first Thrifty Santa that I have participated in, and I am glad that I did. Santa went above and beyond anything I could possibly have expected. Not that I needed the affirmation, but this really drove home the point that I am part of the best community on BGG.
Long live the Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters!
Now, on to the good stuff:
Santa wrapped all of the gifts beautifully. If I wasn't like a 9 year old on Christmas morning, I would have taken pictures, but I'm sure you all understand.
Tsuro. Thank you thank you thank you thank you! This game has become something of a mini-grail for me. My wife and I are abstract fans and this game has peaked our interest.
Next was Blockers!. Above and beyond. I had specified on my wishlist that I was more interested in the abstract version and not the "uptown" version. Santa comes through.
Next up was Chaos Isle: Zombi Deck and all 5 of the expansions! Another one from my wishlist! Did I mention I am a zombie freak too?
Then we had Zombiegeddon. Aside from the aforementioned zombie freakness, I hold a special place in my heart for Twilight Creations. Doing research on Zombies!!! is what led me to the 'Geek. This looks like a zombiefied version of Hey, That's My Fish!, which I enjoy, so it's a win-win!
And last, but not least, Santa saw that I have Dungeon Roll and pledged for a copy of the Dungeon Roll: Winter Heroes Pack for me!
All in all, this was amazing and I'm already looking forward to thrifting all year long to hopefully make next year's Thrifty Santa target as lucky as I was.
May I pass along my congratulations for your great interdimensional breakthrough. I am sure, in the miserable annals of the Earth, you will be duly enshrined. -- Lord John Whorfin
Ah! The wait is over!* My package arrived today.
* Yes, I realize it's December 2nd.
As with every TSS, I had a great time this year. Both with coming up with a box of Thrifty Secret goodness for my receiver, and in anticipating what my gifts might be.
My thrifty Secret Santa did a great job. Just enough taunting and clues to keep my interest. And they did fantastic work putting together my gifts.
I'm a hard thrifter to gift! Given how long I've been thrifting games and how large my collection (ahem, that's too large) I'm challenging to find gifts for. But TSS sure did well! A HUGE box stuffed with nicely wrapped presents. Hand written labels and a nice card too!
I admire the resolve of folks who can wait until Christmas. But that's just not how I'm wired! Off with the wrapping!
First, three large plastic baggies filled with:
1. Spongebob figures and treasure box (claimed by my daughter)
2. Bunches of little robots and spaceship toys (divided by the boys, much to my sadness. They couldn't leave one or two for dad?)
3. Several big handfuls of Battleball minis (the favorites harvested by the boys, the remainder to my parts box )
Next were several books. Star Wars Return of the Jedi Sketchbook, Dinotopia First Flight, The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern, Bucky O'Hare (graphic novel), Unseen Academicals (Terry Prachett), and books 1, 2 and 4 of the Wilderness of Four series (already secreted away by my daughter). A great collection of books we can all enjoy!
Also along with the aforementioned Bucky O'Hare graphic novel were three Bucky O'Hare VHS tapes. The kids will watch this weekend and review.
Oh yes, there were some games too!
Bushido: Der Weg des Kriegers
I knew nothing about this game, but the components are very nice.
Long on my wishlist. Thank you!
Dragonriders of Pern
Another I'm now glad to have!
And thank you for one of the series I don't currently own (but have in the past).
Just an AMAZING bunch of gifts. Thank you so much for the mountain of presents my family has already started to enjoy.
Yes the package did arrive - no need to flog any elves or reindeer, it was all my fault! Thank you for sending it.
I've had a major (MAJOR) computer meltdown, which I'm still trying to recover from, that hit a few days before the package arrived (fortunately I have an old laptop that's keeping me limping along). And, it arrived just as we were readying to leave for Thanksgiving, so I stashed it away, and am ashamed to say, I forgot about it with everything else going on.
I'm planning on waiting to open it until Christmas - is that OK? Any other instructions to know about?
So sorry to keep you in suspense after all your hard work. Please don't change the contents to coal...
Here's what arrived in the box:
Here's what was inside the paper:
Yay! A whole selection of kids & family games - just what we like!
Fast Food gets top billing because my 4 year old daughter has "convinced" us to play it many, many times!
Snafu is close behind, as my son is obsessed with trying to improve his time.
Oh wait, but then there's Off to the Tower (which I didn't even know existed - woot!), with its "capture your sibling and send him/her to the tower" take-thatness.
Oh, and new Gamewright games...
And don't forget the epic Cosmic Cow battle my son and I had last night.
We've played almost everything so far and are having a great time. Thanks Santa for thinking about the kids with the extras & for sending us some great holiday fun!
This is very cool. As I said in my geeklist entry, I think I remember my youngest brother getting this for Christmas. I felt it was way beneath me at the time, as I was into "advanced games" like D&D, Car Wars, and Star Fleet Battles. I've now come around full circle- looking for simpler games I can play with my kids and nephews. Thank you Secret Santa for bringing this blast from past back to me. I am very much looking forward to giving this game a work out over the xmas vacation.
Another huge box arrived on my doorstep this evening. I will update and add photos tomorrow. Thank you TSS
Wow! Very generous gifts. All very cool things I am anxious to play.
Pass the Bomb
Quests of the Round Table
There's a Moose in the House
10 Days in the USA
Thank you very much. This is my favorite thing on the geek.
This was my first year doing the Thrifty Secret Santa. I was more excited for this than the mainstream secret santa, and my expectations were not misplaced. I received an email from Santa not long after targets were assigned asking questions and threatening to send me the ungame or coal if I didn't get cracking on posting my wishlist.
Of course I didn't want to upset Santa, so I answered his questions, filled out the wishlist and waited. All of a sudden this week I had a box, and it was marked from Thrifty Santa. Santa was in his Texas Winter home when he sent the box to me, and I barely beat it to my house as I had been in Dallas, Texas for the week of Thanksgiving.
I gathered the family around and we opened the box with much excitement!
Inside we found the following: (the presents, not the kids)
There was a beautiful ornament that is now a part of our ornament collection and a part of our family. The presents were all beautifully wrapped and very cleverly marked Mini-Mudslapper 1, Mini-Mudslapper 2, and Mini-Mudslapper 3. A present for each one of our kids in order by their age! This thoughtfulness was worth more than whatever game I could receive.
My kids were overjoyed and eagerly opened their special gifts. Inside each wrapped gift was a book. The kids loved them! Fact: The gift for our youngest daughter happens to be her very first ever Christmas present. Thank you Thrifty Santa for a wonderful memory.
Now it was my turn. I had three gifts to open. My very generous Thrifty Santa sent me:
Beowulf: The Legend
Justice League: Axis of Villains Strategy Game
My Thrifty Santa is great! Beowulf is an auction/bidding game! Exactly what I love in a game and my Santa did an amazing job picking these games out!
Thank you very much Thrifty Santa. You really made this time of year very special with your thoughtfulness and generosity. You made our family very happy and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas! I am excited to try the games you sent me, and hope that you are endowed with a Thrifty Santa as swell as the one I had.
I received my large amount of 5 packages and placed them under the tree. This is truly a bounty and I thank you Santa.
Update, I was able to open up this bounty of goodness on Christmas with the help of my daughter. It included six packages.
First was Martain Dice this has been played around 10 times and it is a great success.
Fluxx which has seen one play and was not my favorite game ever but it now stays in my glove box.
Uno Seasme Street which is awesome because my daughter loves it.
Carcassonne: Inns & Cathedrals This has gotten several plays as it mixed into the Carc box. My wife was very happy.
Vanguard fighting game cards, which I have not got to try yet.
And finally the last box which had Julius Caesar incredible. This is a game that I was really wanting and Thrifty Santa you came thru big time.
I really truly appreciate all of this you went above and beyond.
Thank you so much.
I received my gift a couple days ago from my SS. My significant other has opened and wrapped them. I look forward to Christmas day!!!! Thanks SS! I'll update what they are as soon as I know.
Opened these last night! Got the Star Trek Collectible dice and Australia. These were some of the best Christmas presents that I could have received! Thank you SOOOOOO much Santa! The dice made me extremely happy and australia made my significant other giddy.
This was one of the most rewarding and fun experiences, thanks to everyone for participating.
Wow thank you T.S. for the cardboard bounty!
Dungeonquest! Not just that, Dungeonquest stuffed like a turducken with T-Rex from Rio Grande games and The Count of Carcassonne expansion.
This is one feast I can't wait to dig into. I plan on at least getting a solo play in as soon as I can find the table space to do so. It is odd but I feel like when we moved into this place there were more than enough built in shelves to last us the year.
T-Rex has some nice art and a nice strange plot. I'm not sure why the researchers are so worried about the eggs when apparently meteors of death are raining down. Hmmm... Then again we know more than a few researchers and that does seem fitting after all.
Last but not least, more Carc goodness! The expansion sounds interesting and I think the orange meeple is quite the improvement. Don't get me wrong, purple is a great color, however I would be worried that the count was Barney the dinosaur.
Got a package today! Will post pictures later!
Am I allowed to open now Santa???
EDIT: I'm getting a "file and image upload currently disabled" right now. Pictures will have to wait
This is my first time partaking in the Thrifty Secret Santa exchange, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was blown away by how generous (and thrift) my Santa was to me! Wow.
I got home on Monday after work to find a large package waiting for me. With permission from Santa I opened it up.
On top of a mountain of wrapped presents was a 3'x3' foam pad, with a note that read "since you like X-wing, you'll love this playing mat." It's great, but I don't have Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game, at least not yet. Guess I just have to buy it, huh?
On to the gifts. When I opened the packages, I found:
2 sweet looking d6 s
A cribbage board with a deck of cards
Monte Carlo Golf and Football
Pizza Box Football
Shootin' Ladders: Frag Fest
Tiki Topple (in the shrink)
Race for the Galaxy !! (the cards are sleeved and in deck boxes. I'm not sure, but there might be an expansion in there too?)
And then, the next day I found Small World, Small World: Tales and Legends, and Mystery Express at Savers for $15 total. I'm not sure, but I think my Santa might have something to do with that too?!?
Fierce Fish Win the Cup
A package arrived on Saturday, all wrapped except one.
Then these two arrived today - by the feel I will guess both are 3M games.
All 3 gifts were opened and since I can't upload any pics, words will have to do for now!
Box #1 - 10 days in Africa from a Utah elf. Super excited, this will get played tonight!
Box #2 - Guillotine with an extra pack of cards, Water Works, Tutankhamen, Splice the Piratology card game!
Box #3 - Twixt and Acquire, both 3M versions for my collection of 3M games!
Nice job by my Santa's, I am totally excited about what I got and can't wait for next year of course! Looking forward to my target getting his gifts in the next few days.
