I have gotten heavy into PnP games over the last year. I have had a blast making every thing from a single laminated sheet with no cutting all the way to a copy of Merchants of Venus.

I want to know what people consider the Holy Grails of PnP. The reason for this will be left up to your own ideas.

This is one of the two games that are the reason for this list.

This is considered a grail because of a couple of reasons. First is is no longer available. Second is that it is a extremely large build.

The Star wars Retheme of this is the second reason fot his list.

The Star Wars Retheme of this is incredible if you were able to get the files as they are no longer available.

For a brief moment when everyone and their brother were making retheme's for this there was a....

Space Hulk in my Pocket retheme

Of course we all know why there are no files or images of that on the Geek anywhere to be found now don't we...

I'm sure someone, some where might possibly have the files still though of course you would never print a copy of this much less play it. You would of course wait for GW to go ahead and produce a retail copy of it. Of course you would.

Before Himalaya got a fresh, new and original theme for publising by Tilsit it was a PnP game that was themed very typically in some old European setting with merchants doing trading...or something. Finding the files for this is tough that's for sure but honestly I hear this one will get a reprint soon anyway and love the new theme.

I hope to replace the photo with a drawing of my own.

Dune has been number one on my wishlist for years. Sadly, it might still be on the wishlist for many years to come. It's out of print. It's possible to buy a rethemed game called Rex. However, I really want the Dune theme. The theme makes me want to make the game as nicely as possible.

There are several excellent PnP versions of Dune. Some of these PnP versions look much nicer than the original game. This game seems to be the grail of many other people (some very talented).

I've downloaded available image files for some of the components. Sadly the skill level needed for the board and some other components far exceeds my own. The most complicated PnP game I've made so far is Advanced Civilization.

It's just too daunting to make all at once. I'll probably end up making the game a few components at a time. I'll initially make simple components which will be replaced over time. At least, this is the plan.

A very talented BGGer recreated the entire game with some gorgeous artwork. It's a ton (sometimes it feels like almost literally) of work, paper, and ink - I'm about 3/4 of the way through it right now and in a slow bit because a few of the card pdf files are damaged or something and don't print right so I have to work around that.
