I'm so excited! This will be my first cruise!

My father, my eldest daughter(11), and I will be leaving for a Caribbean cruise on Sunday. I'm very excited that I'll be able to have some quality time with my daughter and dad for a whole week. My daughter is at an age now where school work is taking a lot of time, all her time really, and this making me really sad since we don't get to play as many games together anymore. Also, my dad lives in L.A. so I don't get to spend time with him as much as I like.

We've been having fun contemplating what games to bring. My dad has asked me to bring "that train game" aka Railways of the World! Yikes!
Here are a few games that I think will carry us through the week but will also be easy to pack. Feel free to look at my collection and give suggestions.

Also, I'd love to hear any tips or advice for our cruise! What to pack, what to expect, any advice for keeping an 11 year old entertained? (Unfortunately, she will have to bring homework with her...)

We just got this and have played it a few times. We love it! It's very small and plays up to 4 people. Perfect!

I'm thinking this will be useful by the pool. My only qualm is that the pieces are big and heavy. I really should have gotten the pocket version.
My daughter and I enjoy it. My dad loves chess so I think he would enjoy it as well.

We all love a good deduction game. Not too many components and it's easy to carry.

Another card game.
I'm beginning to think this might be overkill, but I like to have variety. I have yet to teach either my daughter or dad to play, but I think my dad in particular will enjoy this a lot.
It's 2-player only but might be useful when dad is taking a nap.

I desperately want to find a way to bring this along. I'm thinking if I only bring the middle board, put the tiles in baggies, and put the whole thing in a big plastic folder type thing, it just might be ok. i just wouldn't want anything to get crushed.

And lastly, yes, for daddy, I am contemplating bringing the Mexico board. I can't imagine bringing the box though. Any ideas on what I can do to avoid warping the board. Everything else can easily be put into another plastic folder with a fastener type thing. (what are those called anyway?)
One possibility might be to use the Railways of Europe expansion box to store the board and have the other pieces somewhere else. Ideas?

Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.

How about this one? It seems to fit into the same category of what you described for BattleLine, and the box is rather small.

When I go on a cruise, I usually bring this to play on the tray tables during the flight.

This advice might sound blasphemous, especially for this site, but here it is: Leave the games at home! (other than games for the plane ride)

Since this is your first cruise, don't spend your time doing activities that you can do at home. There is so much to see and do. You'll have tropical islands to visit, and there is nonstop entertainment (and eating!) on the ship throughout the day until the late evening. You will be doing yourself a disservice not to try out all the different activities, and see all the different shows and games that they put on.

Of course, I don't know what you or your family are into, so maybe you won't be interested in what's available. All I can say is I brought some games on the first cruise I went on after joining in this hobby, and I never brought them out. I didn't even have any desire to bring them out. I was too busy with everything else. And the games stayed home on cruises thereafter.

So that's my advice, take from it what you will. But most importantly, have fun!

This wouldn't take up too much space without the box, right? Plus, it'll only take 10 minutes so you can still squeeze in other activities. If it were me, I couldn't go without taking Innovation .
