A splendid and solid design. On my radar for ages and loved it even more than I thought I would !! The dice mechanic is clever and involving, the interplay between using said dice as coordinates, 6s for special tile flipping, and purchasing seeds is perhaps the most brilliant use of dice I have ever seen since Troyes. And also, this even has an element I usually totally suck at but in this game it felt very intuitive !!

( That element is spacial/area tile placement. As I have said before when it comes to anything Alhambra/Carcassone-esque-- I function at the level of a mentally deficient chimpanzee. I would have made the world's worst architect or civil engineer. )

But here I actually did well enough that If I had just gotten the dice rolls to be lucky enough to harvest just ONE more eggplant, I would have won by one point. Alas, J and A-M fought to the tie with J winning on the tie breaker of highest value on harvested veggies.

K 49
J 63 ( 28 on tie breaker)
A-M 63 ( 20 on tie breaker)

As Juan oh-so-validly points out -- a rather wonky and ill-presented rule book. ( Shouldn't the blue be presented first to show you how to separate stacks instead of referring to multiple stacks for PAGES and PAGES before ever telling you how you CREATE them???) But after all is finally parsed, a very cute game and inventive use of the card icons in a mix of two per play where the columns on the cards combine to form the allowed action.

I started out OK but got a lot of crappy cards later, having to burn to trade in two turns in a row and Juan with smart usage of his busboys, runs away with the game

J-- WIN K and A-M both having 4 dishes remaining.

One of the most wonderful aspects of this day, if not THE most wonderful-- is three card games I have been SO itching to get to the table ( Parade, Circus Flochati and Mamma Mia) all finally got played in the same day !

This is a wholly unique design and brilliant game play that may not take much to explain or learn, but would take a lifetime to totally wrap your head around to know what is the most ideal thing to do with what card in any situation.

I tried far too hard to get too much majority in too many colors and ended up with a sadly enormous buttload of points--you try to get the least amount and/or register the points in negative numbers Juan did a much better job of not getting any points/cards AT ALL and wipes the floor with us.

Been wanting to play this for ages !! Indeed Mr. FF's auction games always seem to be a brilliant design injected with a healthy and entertaining does of WTF?-ness and this game is definitely no exception. I was thrilled to finally get this to the table ( TWICE since we were playing the multiple dogs run each other off rule wrong the first game) but this game DOES seem to have a wonky issue with three players as Juan pointed out below. The mechanic that the 4th dummy player is adding cards to the sack at random adds a HUGE luck element that I think might throw the whole strategy of the game off a bit. Looking forward to playing this with 4 !!

Game 1 J 61 AM 72 K 11 Yes, 11. Dogs eating ALLLLLL of my pile of card points pretty much.

Game 2 J 110 ( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in just two sacks !! 110 !!) AM 10 K 48 ( an improvement over 11.. but still :/)

A collector's item bought completely for nostalgia reasons-- I think I shall eventually write this game's first review to tell said nostalgia story !!

For now our little report on these VERY sbort games-- this is basically a Jenga ancestor with a determination element-- meaning ( Is Jenga Uno kind of like this? I haven't tried it.) you draw a card which commands what can you pull from the pyramid. Unlucky card? Can in a bad place? Cans fall, game over in 1/3 of the time it takes to set the pyramid. All cute fun though for a 43 yr old game !!

GAME 1

AM lose, cans fall
J 10 WIN K 8

GAME 2 J 2 WIN AM 1 Kel Lose, cans fall

When I was the age of my hosts' son-- I could not be touched at memory games. I am still good at Concentration sometimes-- but in general-- I am your go to guy for obscure Long Term memory ( No one will play trivia games with me, on three different subjects in three different parts of my journalism life before WIkipedias and Googles and such I was always called on the phone with this message at least once a week "Ask Kel for fact checking, he's an encyclopedia!) -- but perhaps it's age, or I only play these games when my caffeine is crashing, or whatever-- but my short term immediate memory in these games follows a horrid pattern.

That pattern is I find stuff well at the beginning, then after getting a match or two, I suddenly turn into Dorie from Finding Nemo.

My sad performance notwithstanding, was a hoot to finally get this kiddie game to the table-- it has gorgeous bits and it's a wonderful little game not to be just discounted as a " kid's " game-- trying to place all the different egg and chicken pictures is not as childishly easy at it sounds !!

Juan gets all our feathers-- AM last to hold out -- Kel first to give up his feathers. ( Make of that what you will)

The 2nd of my three card games on my radar and in my game haul bags for SO Long that I finally got to play on this fine day. It's incredibly simple but has an intense memory element as you ponder what is in your hand against what you have seen all playing a part in how much you want to push you luck with the card flips. We played twice as we got the " lay down your three set immediately if you wish to score it that way" rule wrong in first game

Game 1 Kel and Juan tie at 58 AM 55
Game 2 K 49 J 58 WIN AM 48

ANother on-the-radar for ages game that is really close to perfect. Just enough double think not to be frustratingly fiddly, a brilliant mechanism of action selection/purchasing-- this game really just is one of the most solid designs I have ever, ever seen. Shows also how much we all " got " it immediately by how close our scores were !!

AM 24 K 20 J 26 WIN ( I could never get as many red cards as the hosts, I was always getting my role stolen by greedy non-so-be-it-ers !!!)

My third of my dying-to-play-for-years card games in this nifty gaming day !! A wholly unique mechanism-- is there any other card game that has a memory " pile" made -- to which you hope to cash in by playing a specific attempt to glean part of what you have memorized? I think not. Mr. Uwe, I will play this 1000 times a day before I touch the overrated, overfiddly and overannoying Agricola !!

Close game-- Juan gets one more pizza than his son and I for the win !!

Another that had been on my radar for quite a long time.. so thrilled to get to play it !!

What a clever Mechanic-- take a card for money or buy the whole Market row.. this controls the movement of ships to either the pirate spots or all the way to Carthage where you get points and tokens.. it all clicks together excellently and I am stoked to play it again.

As Juan astutely points out in his comment below.. A-M did a much better job than we did at getting the colors she needed AND Blocking the rest of us !!
