Secret Santa Most Gifted Item Sweepstakes (2013)
- Jason LottUnited States
Some Holiday Cheer!
The Secret Santa Event gets bigger every year! This year we have over 2,400 participants. And if past years are anything to go by, some folks may receive more than one game from their Santa. This would suggest that several thousand games will be given out this year.
I thought it would be fun to carry on Simon Hunt's past tradition and hold another sweepstakes this year, (see 2011's), based on the results of The Most Popular Secret Santa Games (2013) geeklist. [NOTE: I'll add a link when I start that list.]
Your participation in this sweepstakes is free.
To enter, scan through the games in this list, looking for the one gift you think will be the most popular this year...
____ if you find it, thumb the entry and add a comment; or
____ if you don't find it, add the item to this list.
You must submit your entry no later than 10:00 pm EST on Sunday, December 1st, 2013**
Only one entry per user! Multiple entrants will be disqualified.
Geekgold tips are not required, but all additions to the prize money pot will be welcomed. I will seed the pot with 100 from my own stash.
**Any entry of an item or comment with a date of December 2nd or later will be ignored.**
After the January 12th, 2014 update of the "Most Popular Secret Santa Games" geeklist, the entries matching the top three games in that list will share the geekgold pot for Win (1st), Place (2nd), and Show (3rd), dividing the pot 60%/30%/10% respectively.
The Prize Money will be 100 from me, plus the contents of the tip jar from this geeklist.
To try and make this clearer...
You will win some geekgold in this sweepstakes if:
You added the geeklist-item (to this list) that matches one of the top three items as reported in the "Most Popular Secret Santa Games" geeklist on January 12th, or
You thumbed and commented on the geeklist-item (in this list) that matches one of the top three items as reported in the "Most Popular Secret Santa Games" geeklist on January 12th.
You may vote for a base game or an expansion, but not both.
I selected January 12th as the cut-off date because the vast majority of gifts were delivered and opened by that date the last two years. Gifts opened/reported after that date will not be counted, except in the event of a tie for one of the top three spots, in which case it will be "sudden death" until the tie is broken. Should that not happen in a reasonable amount of time (I'll probably give it until the end of January), then all those who commented on the top entries in question will split that portion of the pot appropriately (i.e. if it's a tie for first place, those folks will split the amount for 1st and 2nd place combined). If you believe the stats for the top games are erroneous, please send me a geekmail and show your work.
Good luck to all!
(For those who are curious, last year there was a tie at the top between Android: Netrunner and King of Tokyo, with Lords of Waterdeep a distant third.)
EDITED TO REFLECT NEW DEADLINE
ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED
Well - this is...interesting. It seemed like we had a clear winner for awhile, and a lot of folks jumped on that bandwagon. In fact - so many did, that the total prize for each of those that picked Love Letter (1.38 GG each) will be less than those who picked Terra Mystica! Thus in a strange turn of events (or smart gameplay, if you look at it that way), the people who chose the 2nd place winner are getting the biggest prize (3.56 GG each) because there are so few of them. The third place game is King of Tokyo, and those that picked that game are walking away with 0.42 GG each.
Too make my life easier and because I'm feeling generous, I'm going to just round up all of those prizes, so it will be 1.50, 3.75 and 0.50 respectively.
Congrats to all!
