BrewHaha: a great game, warts and all

Quote:
In Brewhaha you are a witch competing with your 'weird sisters' to get as many warts as you can from your potions. Each ingredient you add to your cauldron will react with the others based on their colors, and a reaction of all four colors together will make your potion 'poof," at which point you count up your warts from that round.

Gameplay consists of three rounds, with players playing one card per turn (usually). At the end of a player's turn, if they have all 4 colors in their cauldron, their potion poofs. Each player gets one poof per round, and after that their cauldron is reheating and nothing can be added to it until the next round. A round is over when everybody has poofed. Thus there are two major strategies that must be balanced: Poof too early, and you're safe but you won't get many warts. Poof last, and all the other players will be dumping their vegetables in your pot! Gross!
$25 for the game. Add $5 USD to ship outside the US.

This project will only be funded if at least $17,500 is pledged by Mon, Feb 17 2014 12:00 am EST.

D-Day Sergeants Boardgame

Quote:
D-Day Sergeants is a card-driven strategy boardgame, where you command a small group of soldiers - all of whom are unique, with their own individual capabilities – through a series of tense, exciting actions during World War II.

Our most recent Sergeants release on KickStarter, Red Devils, raised three times more than our goal and delivered all the games in time for the holidays. After this phenomenal success, we realized that it was time for something even bigger: D-Day and the breakout into France and Germany. And we quickly figured out that to do justice to that historic campaign, we would need to bring Sergeants back to its boardgame roots.
Goal = $30000

Flip! - Rummy with a Twist!

Quote:
"Flip!" is an exciting game that will keep you on your toes as you steal each other's cards while trying be the first to run out of them!

Each player is trying to get rid of their hand of cards by playing "Sets" and "Runs"...

...BUT the catch is that all of the cards are double-sided. That means your opponents can see the backs, and TAKE your cards. Use 'em or lose 'em!

This adds a new level of excitement even between turns as you find yourself hoping to be stolen from, but wait, oh no, not THAT card! The object of the game is to get rid of all of your cards first, so you might even be helping others when you help yourself to their cards!
$14 early / $16 for the game. Add $21 USD to ship outside the US.

This project will only be funded if at least $5,000 is pledged by Sunday Feb 16, 9:00pm EST.

NIKA: A game inspired by ancient Greek geography & warfare!

Quote:
“Nika is the ancient Greek word for “Conquer!” The concept of Nika came to me in a dream while I was studying abroad in Athens. The rules were honed across nearly two years of testing. The board shape and core mechanics were inspired by ancient Greek geography and warfare. Greece has many narrow valleys and mountain passes, and sometimes the only way to defeat an enemy force was to collide with them head-on and literally push them off the field. This othismos (“shoving”) is thought to have been the critical phase of most battles between hoplite armies, who were the heavy infantry that dominated ancient Greek war for four centuries. In this game, you command a Greek city’s hoplite soldiers who must force their way through enemy lines. Your troops can push or rout those who would block their way across the narrow battlefield. Coordinate attacks with your ally to secure victory, but make sure to watch your flanks!”
$20 early / $22 for the game. See project for international shipping rates.

This project will only be funded if at least $5,000 is pledged by Thursday Feb 20, 2:46pm EST.

Scoville - The HOTTEST farming euro game ever!

Quote:
You’ve been hired by the town of Scoville to meet their need for heat. To do so you’ll have to plant, cross-breed, and harvest the hottest peppers.

While the gameplay is simple, the strategy is complex. Players will race to be the first to plant and harvest the best peppers, so that they can be the first to fulfill the most valuable recipes.

Each game of Scoville is played over a series of rounds. Each round has the following phases:

AUCTION: Players will choose and reveal their bids simultaneously. The highest bidder will choose their desired place in the turn order. Then the next highest bidder will choose, and so on. Once players have chosen their turn order spot, in turn order they will choose one of the Scoville Fundraising cards and obtain the pepper cubes shown on the card.

PLANTING: In turn order each player will plant one pepper in the fields next to the existing peppers. The Town Mayor may award bonus points if they planted exotic peppers.

HARVESTING: In REVERSE turn order players will move their pepper farmer meeple up to three spots in the fields. For each location where they are between two planted peppers, those peppers will cross-breed. That player will harvest the cross-bred peppers and add them to their supply.

FULFILLMENT: In turn order players have the opportunity to fulfill one Market Offer and complete one Chili Recipe. These are completed by turning in the required peppers. Players may also sell one type of pepper per round as an extra source of income.
$40 for the game shipped to the US.
$50 for the game shipped to Canada.
$55 for the game shipped to the EU.
$75 for the game shipped elsewhere internationally.

This project will only be funded if at least $40,000 is pledged by Saturday Feb 22, 1:00am EST.

Westerly: The Threeboot

Quote:
To all former Westerlings and newcomers alike, welcome to the Threeboot! Westerly, the hilarious co-operative westward expansion board game, is back and better than ever. We here at AE games have been working hard to find a way to get you the highest quality game at the lowest possible price. And this time, it looks like we've found it.

In Westerly, you and a group of like minded pioneer folk will brave your way across the content. By working together, making smart decisions and keeping your fingers crossed for good luck, your group may just make it to California. It's a brand new ridiculous tall tale every time you play.

The Convicted - expand your town and fight for survival

Quote:
Cooperative board game for 1-4 players. Fight for survival in a hostile land, expand your town and stand ground against enemies.

In The Convicted players become convicts who were given a second chance to expiate their crimes. In order to prove their devotion, they need to colonize new lands in the name of the king. They start building their headquarters – town – with just a handful of footman, and a few structures. Through the development of fortifications, buildings, researching new technologies, gathering resources and training recruits they can transform their colony into an impenetrable fortress. Alas, the new world is full of indigenous inhabitants who by any means possible try to get rid of unwanted colonizers. Countless hordes of barbarians, forest people, ferocious monsters and wolf men with their beasts and war machines will spare no effort to storm the town and its defenders. The whole game-play consists of a campaign of 10 matches, 90 minutes each (15 hours total). The use of random opponent selections and attack directions makes each game a unique experience.
Pledge for the game between $50 (standard) or $59 (champion)
Funded if reach $25000 for Mar, 10
shipping $15 dollars for ship (Polish game)

Otters! A kid-friendly card game

Quote:
Otters is a 10-minute card game for kids (ages 6 and up) and otter-loving adults. It's a deck of 53 custom cards, with photos of otters, lakes and an ornery alligator.

The basic Otters game is for 2 players, or for 2 teams of 2 players each. If you have two decks, you can play with 3-4 individual players (two-deck games take about 20 minutes instead of 10).

The goal of Otters is to win the most valuable collection of lake playgrounds. There are 3 playground cards face-up on the table, each of which has a value between 2 and 10.

On your turn, you will send your otters to play at the lakes. Play 2 cards from your hand, either both to the same playground or to 2 different playgrounds. Check to see if the total number of otters at any of the playgrounds is at least as high as the playground's value; if so, you win that playground!

When you're done, draw until you have 4 cards in your hand, and put new playgrounds on the board if needed so that there are always 3 lakes.

Once all the playgrounds have been won, add up the value of your playgrounds, plus 5 bonus points if you collected three of a particular color lake. The player with the most points wins!
$12 for the game. Add $8 USD to ship outside the US.

This project will only be funded if at least $1,000 is pledged by Thu, Feb 27 2014 9:00 pm EST.
