King's Favor - A Game of Courtly Intrigue

Quote:
The King is dying. He has no living heir.

The nobles of the four great houses jockey to succeed him. Is it altruism or lust for power that stirs these nobles to proffer themselves?

Meanwhile, three powerful guilds each see a chance to build a new era. They lurk in the shadows, planning timely coups to gain control of the realm.

King's Favor is a semi-cooperative game set in an aristocratic world. You play a noble with two conflicting allegiances: to your house and to your guild. Can you cooperate with either team long enough to secure victory?
Cost to get the game: 55$ (50$ for early birds);
Shipping: Add 20$ for shipping outside the US.

The project needs $40,000 to be funded.

103. Board Game: Unpublished Prototype [Average Rating:6.90 Overall Rank:2979]
Board Game: Unpublished Prototype
The Adults of Carcassonne

Quote:
The Adults of Carcassonne is really a set of accessories providing a drinking version of the tile-placing game, Carcassonne. This project came to life after having the idea of turning gaming tiles into mug coasters. After showing them to my friends, one of them had said it would be really neat to play a full game with them. Then it hit me - why not design the gaming pieces into shot glasses and turn my favorite past-time into a drinking game!

The full set of accessories will include 40 shot glasses in 5 player colors and 72 mug coasters. However, Kickstarter backers can choose the right set of accessories for them. Mug coasters will come in both pulp board and rubberized "mousepad" materials. Shot glasses will only be offered in acrylic, but glass may be offered if we blow through our goals.

We strongly recommend using a light beer or mixed drinks with low alcohol content as you will be taking several shots during the game. A 2 player game takes about 3-4 beers per person, while a 4 player game takes about 2-3 beers per person. Remember, please drink responsibly.
$30 72 pulp board mug coasters printed with the original artwork on both sides
$110 Set of pulp board coasters, acrylic shot glasses for 5 players and rubberized scoreboard
$125 72 rubberized, machine-washable tile coasters with matching artwork from the base game to Carcassonne
$215 Set of rubberized coasters, acrylic shot glasses for 5 players and rubberized scoreboard

This project will be funded on Sun, Mar 9 2014 1:16 AM CST.

Patent-Mine

Quote:
A fun educational trivia board game for kids/adults teaches the patent process and little known facts about African American inventors

The board game "Patent-Mine" is an Educational, inspiring, fun way to learn. The concept is to help build character by identifying the creative spirit in all of us especially kids. The game teaches the patent process from idea, design, search, file and patent. As you round the board by correctly answering questions about African American inventors of items we use everyday. Stop lights, refrigerators, and elevators are just a few of the surprising inventions you will learn about as you play. Players will choose one of the six inventors colored game pieces. Roll the eight sided question/information dye then read the information card aloud for all players to learn or answer a question picked from the question deck. Landing on one of the patent spaces identifies the specific patent process and gives the player a bonus question. Correct answer moves players towards winning the game.
Cost to get the game: 100$;
Shipping: Add 15$ for shipping outside the US.

The project needs $20,000 to be funded.

Cave Escape

Quote:
“You are hanging from the side wall of a shaft that leads down to a large cavern and the earth is shaking around you. When you started out the day you were on a grand adventure with a team of professionals looking for artifacts in a newly discovered 1,000 year old cavern. About the time you all reached the bottom the ground began to shake and tremble. At first you all thought to push forward thinking it was nothing. As the shaking got stronger you all began to remember that only one person could fit through the entrance of the shaft. Not wanting to get stuck in the collapsing cave you all start to scramble for the climbing gear. While getting your gear ready you find your rope has been tangled up by one of the other explorers. This will be a cut throat climb to get out first or die.”

Robots on the Line - a robot-building board game

Quote:
Robots on the Line is a creative game of building and selling robots. It's a perfect balance of fun and strategy. It's great for casual and hardcore players alike.

I've had the wonderful opportunity to test the game literally hundreds of times with a lot of different people—men, women, and children from ages 8 to 70. I also belong to the Board Game Designers Guild of Utah. Some of the testers have published games themselves so I was able to get really good feedback. I'm on version 37 of the game, some versions had minor changes while others were nearly complete redo's but all the changes that were made had one purpose—simplify and make the game better. Ultimately we ended in a good place with a solid game. I hope that you’ll agree.

Duelga

Quote:
Duelga is a fast action card game built around martial arts combat that heavily implements character movement and positioning. Step, rotate, and trick your opponent into revealing his flank for your strike. Or team up with a partner against an opposing pair and enter a swirling melee.

Before play, you select a Duelist and outfit it with your choice of weapons, styles, and a totally customizable deck of 10 offensive and 10 defensive action cards. Only then can you match against opponents and prove yourself master.

The Core Set gives cards enough to comfortably maintain 4-5 decks at a time and variety enough to build dozens of different approaches. Expansions One and Two bring Ki and Magical elements into the mix.
Core Set (256+ cards): 35$,
Ki Expansion (81+ cards): 25$,
Glimmer Blood Expansion (94+ cards): 25$.

Add 10$ for Canada and Mexico, 20$ for everywhere else.

This project will be funded when we reach $10,000 in pledges before March 29th.

Board Game: London 1888 (Second Edition)
London 1888

Quote:
London 1888 is a turn-based horror game, with co-operative play and an unexpected twist. And Jack is one of them. For 4 to 8 players.

London 1888 is originally a French language bestseller board game from 2005 and is being published for the first time in English by Aka Games with updated rules, cards and map board. This edition includes additional components, which enhances game play.

Two horrific murders were committed in London at the end of 1888. The victims were Emma Smith and Martha Tabram. That autumn, for three months, Whitechapel, in East London, was terrorized by a serial killer who came to be known as Jack the Ripper.

After committing five more murders, he suddenly stopped. Scotland Yard never solved the case and, to this day, the identity of the killer remains a mystery.

This is the second revised edition, which includes more cards, more characters, more options and revised rules. In London 1888, the board game, players do not always rely on the same strategy in order to win. Investigation, roleplaying and bluffing are very important parts of the game. Every session is immersive, different and exciting and may take from 90 minutes to 4 hours to play. It may be much more if the players decide to use a lot of role-play to add even more fun to the session.

MANIFEST: The board game

Quote:
Win points for your shipping company by completing Contracts. Pick up the required goods or passengers at their source, then navigate the high seas to deliver them to a port where they are wanted. Be sure to load more cargo than you need to deliver, as there are many hazards along the way, and pirate thieves hiding among the waves.

With a choice of Private or Public Contracts, two ships in your charge, and multipurpose Action cards, there are hard choices and many paths to victory, as well as some ‘take that’ options to thwart your opponents.

Greed

Quote:
Greed is the latest game from Donald X., the award winning designer of Kingdom Builder and Dominion. Greed is a card drafting game in which players take the role of a gangland boss, intent on becoming the one true power in the city.

As post-war immigration and migration change the demographics of the US, gangs re-emerge as a form of identification, protection and ultimately...wealth. And they are no longer armed with just switchblades and bats. The Gun Control Act of 1968 has not been passed into law yet and automatic weapons move freely into the country and across state lines. Skirmishes and gangland wars take a heavy toll. The gang conflicts aren't just driven by territory...they are also driven by business opportunities. Not everyone chooses to reject materialism and the order of the day is to be accomplished "by any means necessary." Gang bosses invest more and more into legal business affairs, but don't hesitate to unleash their thugs on the competition to gain an advantage. You are not the good guy this time. The stakes are high and your competitors are enemies - there are no points for second place. It's gangland war and only Greed that counts!

Kung Fu Fighting!

Quote:
Kung Fu Fighting is a fast paced, action card game for 2 to 6 players. You and your friends engage in climactic fights right out of Kung Fu movies. Teach them the meaning of pain with devastating kicks and punches. If you prefer, grab a weapon - like a bo staff or the nearest table - and start flipping through the air as you beat down your foes.

When the dust settles will you be the only one left standing? Or will your Kung Fu be too weak?

Kung Fu Fighting is a stand-alone card game with multiple ways to play. The base game is a free-for-all fight where each player is on their own battling for supremacy. Kung Fu Fighting will also come with rules for Team play and Character Cards with unique abilities. Once you get a feel for the game you can add in the Team Cards and Character Cards for more advanced play.

Kaboom! A Frantic Card Game

Quote:
Potluck Games would like to present Kaboom! a dastardly game of frantic bomb-passing.

In Kaboom! players attempt to unload a gigantic bomb on each other. You may ship it to a stranger, drop it down a chimney, or simply toss it over the neighbor's fence... anything! Just make sure you're not holding it when it blows!

Kaboom! is a quick game (5-10 minutes) for 2-5 players of all ages. Not literally all ages... You may have trouble getting newborns engaged. We'll run some tests.

You will find that Kaboom! is not like most card games, where a single player triumphs in the end. In Kaboom! it is far more crucial to determine a loser. If you are holding the bomb when it explodes, you lose! We recommend house-ruling additional punishments as well.

Now, some of you are nervous. You don't like the idea of playing a game where no one wins. For this reason, we will include alternative rules. But know that they are forbidden! However, you are free to do what you want in your own home, and we promise not to check up on you.
Project by Potluck Games

$19 for the game. Add $7 USD to ship outside the US.

This project will only be funded if at least $19,400 is pledged by Thu, Mar 27 2014 11:00 PM EST.

Tiger Stripes

Quote:
Long ago a great mother tigress had four cubs.

After many days she instructed her growing tigers, “Go out into the far reaches of the world and seek your fortunes. Hunt for prey to earn your stripes and become powerful. Have many wonderful adventures. When one of you returns to me full-grown, I will summon all the rest. On that day you will reveal to me your jewels and accomplishments. The greatest of you will rule over all my domain.”

You are a young tiger with no stripes! You have been sent out into the wide world to prove your worth and become truly great. You must hunt for food to earn your stripes. You must also collect jewels to build your fortune. Finally, you may experience dangerous adventures, adding to your success. The tiger who scores the most points wins.

Created by Isabel duBarry, Tiger Stripes will be a fun, bright addition to your family's collection!

The Ancient World

Quote:
In an ancient world forgotten by time, enormous titans terrorize the land. The five tribes have been fleeing from the titans for centuries, but things are about to change. Growing kingdoms pledge to end the reign of terror, determined to take on the titans and make the world a safer place for all. Each kingdom competes to attract the tribes, eager for the strength of the combined peoples, who are now leaving behind old traditions with the hope that the titans can be defeated once and for all.

In The Ancient World, players compete to grow the largest and most influential kingdom by managing citizens, treasury, military and defeating titans. Players take turns sending citizens to take special actions or using military cards to attack titans. Players also purchase Empire cards to add strength and abilities to their kingdom.

A kingdom's influence in the world is measured by sets of tribe banners that it owns. Each Empire card has one or more tribe banners. Tribe banners can also be gained by defeating titans. Players gain victory points for sets of tribe banners.

After six rounds, the player with the most victory points from sets of tribe banners wins.

Worker Placement

wrote:
Worker Placement is an easy-to-learn strategy board game of earning cash and gaining reputation. In the game, you assume the role of a temporary employment agency CEO who is trying to build his or her start-up business into a thriving operation. The path to success seems simple enough: hire unemployed temp workers, help them to upgrade their skills, and find them the best short-term jobs so your company can get paid its cut. Competition with other temp agencies is fierce, though, so establishing a solid reputation as a reliable and dependable agency can bump your workers towards the front of the employment line.

Worker Placement plays in about 45 minutes and is suitable for 2-5 players, ages 10+. With a variety of engaging play mechanics – including card drafting, hand management, bidding, set collecting, and of course worker placement – playful illustrations with accompanying flavor text, and simple rules that take only minutes to learn, running a successful temp agency business has never been this much fun!

Gameplay Round Summary:

Action 1: Determine Player Order
Player Order card + Thumbs Track position = position on the Player Order Track.

Action 2: Reveal New Jobs
Deal one Job card for each player (minimum four cards) face up on the game board edge at the Job Centre building.

Action 3: Draft Business Cards
Deal three Business cards to each player, who selects one card to add to his or her hand, passes one to the player on the left, and places the final card face down on the Peer Networking Group building.

Action 4: Auction Discarded Business Cards
Place face up three randomly select Business cards from those at the Peer Networking Group building and discard the others. Starting with the first player and continuing along the Player Order Track, each player may pass or bid. Players with the top three bids select, in order, one of the Business cards up for auction and add it to their hands, reducing their positions on the Cash Track equal to their bids. Discard unselected cards.

Action 5: Place Workers
Clockwise, beginning with the first player, players take turns placing all meeples on the game board buildings to gain benefits. Cash cost = number of meeples at the building. If a Job is filled, the player gains the Cash and Thumbs on the Job card.

Action 6: Reset
Players reclaim placed meeples. Advance the Hourglass token one space on the Time Track. Players must discard down to five Business cards if holding more than five in their hands.

Quote:
Equinox is a clever yet simple abstract strategy game for two players. It is played with 48 unique hexagonal tiles, each with a white side and a black side that are otherwise identical. The different powers of tiles will allow you to flip, move, change, or defend other tiles on the evolving landscape of hexes. Once all the tiles are played, whichever side has more face up tiles (plus bonus chips) will be victorious.

Baseball Highlights 2045 - New Card Game by Mike Fitzgerald

Quote:
American baseball was on its last legs as a spectator sport. Football had become the predominant national pastime — that is until the year 2032, the year baseball decided to revolutionize the game and regain the throne!

Starting in 2032, baseball games were shortened to six innings. Pitchers were encouraged to have bionic arm implants to improve their pitching. These cyborgs, or 'Borgs as they're affectionately known, were immediately popular and soon ruled the league. In 2041, robotic players were introduced to get more offense back into the game. These robots were similar to designated hitters in that they were used only to bat and did not field. However, recent reports indicate fielding 'Bots are on the way.

Now in 2045, human players are still in the game and known as Naturals. They are the best fielders by far but are sorely challenged when it comes to hitting and pitching. Some Naturals have learned to hit by swinging before the pitcher starts his windup, which gives them a chance to hit the ball. Although it's hard for a Natural to get into the league, those who do are popular. Many Naturals have named themselves after the great players of pre-2032 baseball by taking a first and last name borrowed from different star players of the past. The fans love them, and their presence on the team ensures good revenue!

The stage is now set! The fans are energized and root fanatically for their new favorites, be they 'Bots, 'Borgs or Naturals!

"POT" The Card Game

Quote:
Each round; trade and negotiate with other players to collect 7 grams (7 cards) of the same strain of cannabis to obtain the highest amount of points possible. Once all 7 grams are in your hand, yell “Holdin’!” For that round you receive the number of points that strain is worth. If you are "Holdin'!" with the Piece Card, this doubles your points for that round. If you are left with the Seeds Card, this deducts 20 from your points that round. First player to reach 420 points total wins!

POT The Card Game is a fast-paced, lively game full of frantic trading and bartering with other players. There are no "turns" in POT so you'll never have to wait your turn or forget who went last, etc. It’s hard to believe how fun this game really is, POT will turn any circle or party into a special one and with 52 poker sized cards, including the rules, tucked neatly into one attractive box, you can carry POT anywhere!

Gone Viking

Quote:
Thank the Gods! Another successful raiding voyage! You will be seen as heroes to return home with so many spoils. But one big problem awaits. You and all the other Viking lords have sworn fealty to a chieftain who takes, by right, half your wealth when you go viking and return with plunder. Thankfully, this Jarl only targets the one among you who has gained the most, the one he fears the most. If you acquire and hold on to the most Wealth and overcome all opposition, you will become the next great chieftain and win the game!

As a player in Gone Viking, you will try to become the richest Viking by collecting Wealth tokens. Which type of token you get depends on the type of Plunder card you use to win the trick. But after each raid, the Jarl will grab his share from the one Viking who has the most. Should you acquire the right combination of tokens, you can trade them in for a Viking ship that the Jarl can't take from you. Using the power of the Viking gods will truly add to your success. Each suit in Gone Viking has a god associated with it, who also has its own unique affect on the game play.
