2015 Challenge: Play 10 Games 10 Times Each

Background:
For 2013, I participated in the challenge to play all my unplayed games, which wasn’t easy since, like many people, I kept buying more. But I feel good in having met the spirit of the challenge in consciously keeping up with the new games I bought through my own tracking geeklist. I even focused on replaying games, but usually only once.

This left me with an empty feeling, of not being able to get into the meat of some of the games. We hardly ever play a game more than a couple of times before we move on to something else. And I don’t want to do that this year. Nope, this year I’m going to focus on replaying games a lot and getting into the strategy of them. It’s not going to be easy, especially with fantastic new games always coming out, but I’m going to pick 10 and stick with it.

2/25/14 Rules Changed - Read the bolded sections carefully!

The Challenge:
If you’re interested in joining me in this challenge, it’s pretty easy to do so and may even hold some small prizes at the end. Anyone can join at any time in 2014.

1. Add an item, either a game from your list or create your own Geeklist and enter its ID.
2. In the comment form for the item, write down your ten games.
3. Under each game, write 1-10 to track the number of plays or use stars.
4. When you play the game, enter the date next to the highest empty number (if you want to).
5. You may include any plays that happened in 2014, even if they were before you joined the challenge.
6. If you don't like a game on your list, you may add a new one to your list. You can do this change as many times as you like. As long as you play 10 games 10 times by the end of the year, it doesn't matter if it was the original 10 you chose to list. If you do change a game, please send a Geekmail to BK (user:Vacabck) as he's collating data on this challenge.
The game list must be finalized by midnight of December 31st, 2013. Except those who join in 2014, your list must be finalized before you begin tracking games. No plays before joining count towards this challenge.
7. The challenge starts January 1st, 2014 and ends December 31st, 2014. Do not count any games played before January 1st, 2014 or after December 31st, 2014.
8. When you have completed the challenge, played all 10 games 10 times, send me a GeekMail with a link to your item on this Geeklist. (Click on the number of your entry and it will give you a permanent hyperlink.)
9. If you have any questions, please send me a Geekmail or post in the comment section at the very bottom of this Geeklist. Due to my current health issues, I cannot keep up with how big this list has become. I do want to be here to help, but I just don't have time to regularly read through every page.

Note: If you want to enter the challenge more than once, it is allowed. You may create as many lists of 10 as you like. However, to make it fair for those whom this is a real challenge, prizes will be awarded for the completion of one list, not each list.

Prizes:
At the end of 2014, I’ll review the entries and anyone who has completed the challenge will get a prize. I’m going to start with Geek Gold. I’m putting in 20 GG to get started and will add to it any GG donated to this Geek List. The total amount will be split among those who succeed at the challenge. While I will be tracking my progress here, I will not be eligible for the prizes. And depending upon how the year goes, I may include more prizes, but no promises right now.
Jamey Stegmaier has donated a copy of Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia to be given to one random person who completes the challenge. Thanks so much Jamey!
Darrell Louder has donated a copy of Compounded with Compounded: Chemical Chaos to be given to one random person who completes the challenge. Thanks so much Darrell!
Eric Jome (user:cosine) will give 50 GG to anyone who succeeds on the challenge with more than 5 games that were published before 2004 on their list. No games released in 2004 count. It is okay to play a new edition of a game if the original came out before 2004.
BK (user:Vacabck) will give 63 GG to the participant with the most entertaining thread/geeklist chronicling their 10x10 journey. This will be decided by him. Check for his thumb on your GeekList to see if he's tracking it. If not, send him a GeekMail.
Mark Walker (user:Mark Holt Walker) of Lock 'n Load Publishing (www.lnlpublishing.com), will donate two boxed games to one participant that completes the challenge with at least 5 war games in the 10 games. The winner will be selected randomly.

286 users completed the challenge (as of 1/24/15)
32% of users completed the challenge

Etc:
Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you’ll consider joining the challenge, but most importantly – play games!

--If you play a game multiple times in a row, each completed game counts as a play. Partial games do not count, but can be added together to count as whole games.

--Feel free to include expansions in your games. I would recommend to record plays under the base game, though, and not have an entry for the expansions themselves. The exception is game expansions that can be played on their own. One example is Dominion since you can play each expansion as it's own focus as long as you have the base cards.

--Any games in a series still count as their own game. For example, the Tempest line of games. However, the exceptions are D&D, 18xx, Dungeon Command, Heroscape and GMT Coin. Brass and Age of Industry can be on entry as well. If you think of any other exceptions, please let me know.

--If you feel that step 3 & 4 above will make your entry too long, feel free to record it some other way such as using 10 stars in a row or just recording the number of plays instead of a vertical list with dates.

--Feel free to play your games in any order that you like. You don't have to start with #1 and play all 10 games before going to #2. Unless that is how you want to do it.

--Role-playing games count. Each session counts as a play. So if you meet 10 times, that's 10 plays.

--For games that have scenarios, playing through a scenario counts as a play.

--Online/digital games count regardless if you are playing against a person or the computer AI. The game just has to be a digital implementation of a physical board game.

Nice, I'm joining this for sure! Two questions, though. 1) If we play few games in a row, it counts for multiple plays, right? 2) Can we start on, say, Saturday, or it is considered cheating?

Here's the list (I'll add the digits later to save the space)

1) Cyclades(with or without the expansion, depends on who will play it). This is mah Nr 1, I love it

Plays: 1/10
Feb 28th: 2p, I won. Played with Hades + auctioned the islands. Did not take any heroes or additional gods from the expansion.

2) Hanabi Never played, but SSanta have sent this as a bonus, so I need to try have tried it and it's pretty good IMO

Plays: 8/10
Jan 3rd: 2p, 24pts
Jan 3rd: 2p, lost
Jan 3rd: 2p, 24pts
Mar 1st: 5p, 18pts, 2 mistakes. We had 3 ppl, who had never played the game before, therefore the result was ok.
Mar 1st: 5p, 24pts, no mistakes. Played with the same group and did really great. I was the one, who discarded the white "5", when had to discrd randomly, otherwise could score 25 pts.
Mar 15th: 3p, Lost it. 1 had never played it before, so it was a training game.
Mar 15th: 3p, 25pts, 1 mistake. The best result so far.
Mar 29th: 2p, 25 points, no mistakes. We're definitely growing

3) Tzolk'in. Nr 2 favorite. Now I'll play like it is, but later I WILL get that expansion.

Plays: 10/10
Jan 18th: 4p game at the local gaming event. Demonstrated it to 2 ppl, who have never played before. Anna won, btw (cause I did not do my best).
Mar 21st: 4p Game at a local game night event. Played after we had a game of Dominant Species. 3 ppl were new, so I have won, which is a kinda expected outcome.
Mar 29th: 4p game. Anna won.
Mar 29th: 3p game (we've lost 1 after the previous game). Anna won again.
Apr 5th: Tabletop day. 3p (me + an experienced player + a first-time player). All did pretty good, I won with 80 points
Apr 5th: Then Anna came and we had a duel I will not post the results.
Apr 12th: 2p, 62/74. Not exciting. Anna won.
Apr 12th: 2p, 64/64. A bit better, than the previous one, the same winner.
Apr 12th: 4p, Finally a game with 4 people and I did it with 88 points. The closest follower was 12 points behind.
Sep 20: 3p, 73/64/64.

4) Kingdom Builder (various options, since 2 expansions are here now). My wife likes it much, so time to make someone happy.

Plays: 10/10
Jan 4th: 2p, 62/37
Jan 4th: 2p, 70/76
Jan 4th: 2p, 62/44
Jan 4th: 4p, 64/37/37/24
Jan 11th: 2p, 58/47 (game night at local BG store)
Jan 11th: 2p, 72/54 (game night at local BG store)
Jan 18th: Again 2 ppl have never played before. Anna won.
Jan 18th: Same as the previous one. But Anna did not win. Me neither. And then we played Taluva 4 times and I won all of them (means Im not a looser, just was polite to newbies).
Mar 1st: 2p, 84/56
Mar 15th: 2p, I have lost
---------
Mar 15th: 2p, I have won
Mar 15th: 2p, I have lost. So I was not so good today.
Mar 29th: 2p, I won it.

5) Terra Mystica. Got it, but never tried. I will

Plays: 5/10
Jan 11th: 4p, 62/90/94/101 (game night at local BG store)
Jan 15th: 2p, 127/121 (a 2p game played at home, my swarmlings have beaten the witches. Tried some experiments with intensive energy burning in the early game)
Jan 24th: 3p, 118/88/72 (game night at local store, my witches have beaten nomads and mermaids)
Feb 21th: 4p, 105/93/78/71 (I haven't got swarmlings this time)
Mar 8th: 4p, Did not record the scoring. Anyway, I haven't won it. Darklings are kinda strange faction to play with.

6) Glenn Drover's Empires: The Age of Discovery. Trade good strategy is the key.

Plays: 1/10
Feb 15th: 4p, Don't remember who won this, but it was not me definitely (played at a friend's house after a Saturday party)

7) Nexus Ops. A friend just have sent this as a present.

Plays: 0

8) Runewars. Long time no plays. have to remove the dust from those plastic mountains.
Plays: 1/10

May 30th. I had quite a long break and haven't played much during a mont or so. Now I'm back to my list. Had a 4p game tonight. Played for humans and was fighting an aggressive undead all the way. Meanwhile demons won the game.

9) Catan. Yes, I know this is crap. But everyone love it here (I don't) and I have those 4 boxes. I'll sacrifice myself, hope this will be counted in when they will decide on if I am eligible to enter the paradise.

Plays: 1/10

Oct 26th. 4 people, I was the second with 7 points. Bad luck on dice rolls again

10) Bora Bora. A gift from SSanta this year. Will try this

Plays: 0

27. Board Game: Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game [Average Rating:7.68 Overall Rank:113] [Average Rating:7.68 Unranked]
Board Game: Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game
This is a really cool challenge. It took me some time to think about how hard I want to make it for myself to achieve - there are several games I would love to play 10 times next year, but realistically there's no way doing that (I will mention them at the end).

So, these are the games of my choice (there might be slight changes till end of the year):
1) Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game - to be played with my son, I still have some of the expansion ships unopened and I would love to try them all
d10-1
December 7th (game with my son)

2) Rise of Augustus - this is to be found under the Christmas tree and I expect this to get more than 10 plays with the family
thumbsup - completed (played 24 times in 2014)
January 3rd (3x 5p games at friends house)
January 4th (1x 3p game with my wife and son, 2x 2p game with my wife)
January 5th (2x 2p game with my wife)
January 26th (3x 2p game with my wife)
February 22nd (4x 4p game)

3) Rivals for Catan - we played some games with my wife, but she got a bit burned on it after some losses, so, I would like to come back to this game with her, also this would be a good game to teach my daughter
d10-2
February 2nd (1x with my wife, managed to convince her to give it a try again, we played just the basic game to refresh the rules, it was a close game)
February 9th (1x with my wife, convinced her to add one of the thematic sets with less conflict)

4) 7 Wonders - this is a game we can play with some of our friends, my wife was a bit cold on this at the beginning, but she seems to be open playing it more even trying the 2p game now, plus I have the expansions waiting to be opened
d10-2
July 1st (4p game - base game only)
November 11th

5) Jambo - this should be one of the easier achievements, it's one of our favorite games for me and my wife, I'm always in a mood to play a game of Jambo
d10-8
January 5th (1x with my wife)
January 25th (1x with my wife)
March 2nd (1x with my wife)
April 7th (1x with my wife)
May 11th (1x with my wife)
August 9th (1x with my wife)
August 10th (1x with my wife)
December 25th (1x with my wife)

6) The Castles of Burgundy - possibly another Christmas find, I'm really looking forward to this game, getting 10 games of this could be hard, but let's put up some real challenge
thumbsup - completed - played 16 times in 2014
January 11th (2x with my wife)
January 12th (2x with my wife)
January 18th (1x with my wife)
January 19th (1x with my wife)
January 25th (1x with my wife)
January 31st (2x with my wife, lost both, the first game by 1 point!, we included the expansion tiles from BGG - a good addition, we were lucky to use all 4 of them in our first 2 games)
February 2nd (1x with my wife)
February 9th (1x with my wife)
February 16th (1x 4p game)
March 9th (1x with my wife)

7) King of Tokyo - one of the favorite family games, although it hasn't seen much table space recently, still, this should be rather easy to achieve
thumbsup - completed - played 98 times in 2014
August 23rd (2x 4p game with my sons and their friend)
August 29th (4x 2p game with my 3y old son, he won all of them)
August 30th (2x 2p game)
Auguat 31st (2x 2p game)
September 6th (2x 2p game, 1x 3p game)

8) The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game - for some solo fun
d10-2
April 5th (2x solo - Passage through Mirkwood with Rohan deck)

9) Mage Wars Arena - it will be hard, but will try to do it
d10-2
April 12th (1x uncomplete game to refresh the rules)
October 3rd (1x simple game with my son)

10) Ascension: Deckbuilding Game - again, the English language is a bit of a struggle here, recently I've got the iPad app and it just made me want to play with the real cards even more
thumbsup - completed - played 28 times in 2014
July 17th (2x with my wife)
July 22nd (1x)
August 9th (1x with my wife)
October 22nd (2x during boardgame evening in my office)

Games that didn't make the cut:
- the "I have already played them very often" category - The Settlers of Catan, Ingenious, Ticket to Ride
- the "impossible to do" category - Commands & Colors: Ancients, Core Worlds, Glory to Rome, Mage Wars, Twilight Struggle, Le Havre
- the "just missed the cut" - Agricola, Goa, Hacienda, Notre Dame, Railways of the World

At the end I decided to switch Blood Bowl: Team Manager for Mage Wars, it will be much harder, but I want to get some plays out of Mage Wars worth the investment.

As an extra challenge I'll try to include Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords – Base Set as I have got it recently.
d10-2
September 12th (1x solo game)
October 11th (1x solo game)

Space Theme Challenge

I'm adding a little twist to my challenge. I am going to get 10 plays of games like Crokinole anyway and Memoir '44 is on my 100 play challenge, so to do something different, I am going to play games on this challenge with a space theme. My son loves space themes, so I hope it will work out.

Here is my Geeklist tracking my plays: My 10 games for the Play 10 Games 10 Times Each Challenge

1. Battlestar Galactica. Might be hard to get the amount of players, but I am going to try.

2. Cosmic Encounter. Another group game, but my group likes it, so I think it is possible.

3. Eclipse. Dangerous. I have only played one time. I recently picked it up, and want to try with my son. That will determine how much it gets played.

4. Federation Commander. I haven't played it in a while, but it needs to get back on the table in 2014.

5. Galaxy Trucker. I want to add a little craziness to the list.

6. Race for the Galaxy. I will only count non solo plays for this challenge.

7. Space Hulk (3rd). This challenge is going to get me to finally get this on the table.

8. Star Wars: X-Wing. This one shouldn't be hard to get to. One of my hot games in 2013 that was new to me.

9. Starcraft (Boardgame). I decided to up my challenge and try to get this one played 10 times in 2014. It also means I have a different space theme for each game on the list.

10. Nexus Ops. One of my favorite games. I just ordered the new FFG edition, so I have to give it some love in 2014.

Edit before 01-01-14: Format to change, and replaced Star Wars: The Card Game with StarCraft: The Board Game.

This is a wonderful idea.
My list contains some that should be pretty easy to meet (ones that my wife and I will play together) and a few harder ones that only see infrequent play with the group. All of them, though, are games that I hope to play more in 2014

Caverna (Received and played once already. Looking forward to more.)
1. 3 Jan
2.
3.
4.
5.

3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Terra Mystica (I managed 15 plays this year, but it has tapered off a bit. I really like the game, so I hope to get more plays)
1. 25 Jan
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Archipelago(Received this from my Secret Santa and played it once with my wife last year. I need to teach it to my gaming group now.)

4.
5.

2. 23 Feb
3. 01 Mar
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

Clash of Cultures (another ambitious one, as it can take a while. Luckily it's been a hit in our group, so I hope to play it more. Plus my son wants to learn it, so hopefully I'll get some games with him)

2.
3.
4.

3.
4.
5.

Railways of the World (this is a pretty easy one, as the group loves the game. I just hope we continue to enjoy it, and it hits the table regularly)
1. 11 Jan (Railways of Europe)

This doesn't seem like too fierce of a challenge. I played fifteen different games ten or more times already in 2013. But the bolded ones below are not from that list, even though I've owned all but one of them since before 2013. The numbers in parentheses give my 2013 plays-to-date for these games.

The Awful Green Things from Outer Space (6)
-- A game I played in childhood, and now play with my daughter.
d10-1 1/20/2014 A pretty sweeping win by the crew, though the game was a little rushed at the end.
d10-2 7/6/2014 Monsters win, with only the Cook and Supply Officer escaping and reaching Snudl-1.
REPLACED THIS GAME WITH
Kingdom Builder, received as a gift at the end of 2013. My tenth play of it was on 2/23, and I've had 35 plays so far this year.

Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game (147)
-- This one I play about ten times a month, but I'm including it because I don't want to play it less.
d10-1 1/7/2014 First game of the year was my mono-Shub "Buried by Dark" against my opponent's mono-Cthulhu "My Life with the R'lyeh Cult." I won overwhelmingly, but he made a catastrophic error in play.
d10-2d10-3d10-4d10-5 1/9/2014 Four plays against Br. Goat. These included my first efforts with triple-faction decks, which were pleasantly successful. Overall, we each won two games.
d10-6d10-7d10-8 1/15/2014 Three games at Br. Goat's place. My mono-Twilight "How To Spot a Mason" won two, and my Investigator-loaded "Snoops We Are" lost by a hair.
d10-9 1/16/2014 Lost to Br. Goat. Looks like this will be the first of the eleven games to fulfill its piece of the challenge.
d10-0 1/20/2014 "How To Spot a Mason" continued an undefeated streak to complete my first ten-game title.

The Castles of Burgundy (17)
-- I just ordered those new player boards from the BGG store!
d10-1 I won on 1/6/2014, with 198 points on board #8.
d10-2 1/12/2014 Board #5 yielded up 201 points to my mercantile strategy of early Rivers supplemented by a fine herd of cattle.
d10-3 1/28/2014 I garnered over 50 points after the final turn, with goods, silverlings, workers, and huge end-scoring knowledge tiles, for a neat score of 200.
d10-4 2/18/2014 No mines for me this time; I scored more than a third of my points starting in the penultimate turn of the last phase.
d10-5 3/2/2014 Back to usual strategies for me: big bonuses for mines and rivers; a sweet herd of cows.
d10-6 4/5/2014 All-time personal high score for my daughter! My end-scoring knowledge tiles gave me the game: 202-188.
d10-7 4/20/2014 Lower than usual score for my daughter with no bonuses at all; all-time high for me: 131-218.
d10-8 6/1/2014 An unusual win for my daughter, and a steep loss for me: 179-140.
d10-9 6/8/2014 Gold was tied at 181; my daughter won on estate coverage.
d10-0 6/14/2014 Back to usual scores; my daughter got the large bonus tile for pastures, but I think I scored more with animals because of my great four-hex cow and goat region.

Elder Sign (17)
-- A game I like a lot, but haven't played so much recently. Don't want it to slip off the radar.
d10-1 1/17/2014 A five-player game without the expansion, against Nyarlathotep. The gate was sealed with just one doom to spare.
d10-2 2/5/2014 A three-player cakewalk against Yig.
d10-3 2/5/2014 Cthulhu did us in slowly with a big battle at the end.
d10-4 2/17/2014 A three-player win against Azathoth, despite three devourings.
d10-5 3/19/2014 Mandy, Joe, and Bob put down Nyarlathotep in the blink of an eye.
d10-6 4/6/2014 A four-player game against Yogsothoth: I was Salesman Bob again (drawn randomly).
d10-7 4/28/2014 A three-player loss against Yig; I was Gloria Goldberg.
d10-8 8/8/2014 We defeated Hastur handily! The doom track had only gotten to 6 when Kate got the last three Elder Signs on a trip to R'lyeh; I was handyman Wilson.
d10-9 8/17/2014 Daoloth awoke quickly (with four adventurers devoured in the process), but Amanda and Monterey put him back to bed even faster!
d10-0 9/20/2014 We started out strong against Shudde M'ell, but it turned into a real nail-biter as the number of available adventures dwindled. The last Elder Sign was secured with doom at 8, but only three adventures available for play!

Freimaurerei (1)
-- The best game I've designed, but I stopped playing after I got it working just how I wanted it.
d10-1 1/20/2014 Oh, there are still things to tweak! The game this evening was tied 6-to-6, and I need to figure out some way to handle tiebreakers. Also, this was the first game with new trump effects, and I want to change the setup to eliminate some opening tedium.
d10-2 2/10/2014 Everything worked very well this time. I feel no temptation to further adjustments. The Casanova deck is great for this game.
REPLACED THIS GAME WITH
Martian Coasters, reinvigorated by my acquisition of a Martian Coasters: 5th Martian Coaster this summer. It saw a tenth play on 6/21, and 22 plays so far this year.

Gnostica (3)
-- Never enough!
d10-1 1/23/2014 A four-handed game with the Fergus Hall deck.
d10-2 2/20/2014 A five-handed game with the Fergus Hall deck.
d10-3 3/27/2014 A four-handed game with the Anthony Clark deck.
d10-4 4/24/2014 A five-handed game with the VIA Tarot.
d10-5 5/29/2014 A four-handed game with the Masonic Tarot.
d10-6 6/19/2014 A three-player game that took three hours.
d10-7 7/9/2014 A six-player game that grew to 30 territories!
d10-8 8/13/2014 A blazing fast four-handed game, over in 40 minutes.
d10-9 9/18/2014 Another one like the previous one: 4 players, 40 minutes.
d10-0 11/11/2014 Three players; Swiss IJJ deck; 60 minutes. A close game!

Hive (161)
-- As soon as I get that pillbug, the little lull in Hive play will come to an end at my place.
d10-1 A slow start; my first challenge game didn't get played until 1/4/2014! It was a solid game with ladybugs and mosquitos against my daughter. I just barely pulled out a win.
d10-2d10-3d10-4 A three-game series over lunch on 1/6/2014. I lost the first, and won the second and third.
d10-5 1/7/2014 My daughter beat me.
d10-6d10-7 1/12/2014 First game was a boneheaded loss on my part; the second was more competitive, but my daughter still won.
d10-8d10-9 1/18/2014 My daughter totally bulldozed me on the first of these games, and it was over in a blink. The second took a long while and we each put all available bugs into play.
d10-0 1/31/2014 A couple of plays makes this game my second to "make" in the course of the challenge.

Kemet (7)
-- Aum. Let it kill me!
d10-1 3/13/2014 A fine 3-p session with lots of delta battles.
d10-2 5/4/2014 I barreled to victory in a 3-p session with C3K.
d10-3 10/1/2014 Another 3-p session with C3K; I won as Ouadjet in the north city.
REPLACED THIS GAME WITH
Six, acquired in September, with a tenth play on 9/25, and 25 plays so far this year.

Martian Chess (3)
-- I can't believe I didn't play this game at all in 2013 until adding it to this list in December.
d10-1 1/13/2014 A quick game against my daughter.
d10-2d10-3 1/17/2014 Two five-handed games at a friend's place. We introduced two new players to the game, and I won the second play.
d10-4d10-5 2/20/2014 A three-player game and a five-player game, as warmups before Gnostica.
d10-6 2/24/2014 My daughter had this game sewn up, but she threw it away.
d10-7 3/2/2014 A terribly lopsided 2-player session.
d10-8d10-9 3/13/2014 A couple of 3-player games.
d10-0 3/27/2014 Another pre-gnostica play. The third challenge game to get to ten plays.

Summoner Wars (32)
-- Another where I play it enough, but don't want to play it less.
d10-1 3/18/2014 My daughter's VG flattened my FK.
d10-2 3/20/2014 My GD trounced my daughter's VG, 2nd summoners both.
d10-3 3/23/2014 I won with Farthen against the girl's old fave Mugglug.
d10-4 3/27/2014 A new SW opponent beat my Abua Shi with Grognack, and it wasn't just luck.
d10-5 4/3/2014 My Grognack stomped the opposing Ret Talus.
d10-6 4/10/2014 Oldin clobbered my Ret Talus. Poor necromancer.
d10-7 4/17/2014 My Mad Sirian beat Sunderved in a close game.
d10-8 5/1/2014 The opposing Samuel Farthen recklessly waded in to his doom against my Sunderved.
d10-9 5/8/2014 My Sunderved didn't do nearly as well against Krusk.
d10-0 5/29/2014 My Sneeks was sorely wounded but victorious over Tundle.

Edited to add: Nexus Ops (5)
-- which I ordered from the FFG holiday sale. Now mine goes to eleven!
d10-1 A two-payer game on 1/5/2014, with Time Is of the Essence and King of the Hill variant rules, along with the Encryption Failure variant. I lost 11-8.
d10-2 Alternate units on 1/6/2014, with Executive Orders and Top Priority. At the beginning of the final turn, Ares Inc. had all possible units deployed except for a single shardian! The Galactic Syndicate was very nearly defeated by elimination, but they still had 3 rubium in-hand at game's end. Final VP were scored by Ares Inc. with the Dragon Slayer mission.
d10-3 1/27/2014 Played with Vortex (first time!), Alternate Units, and a careful selection of extra exploration tokens.
d10-4 3/1/2014 A two-player game with the same rules as 1/27, but a different opponent.
d10-5 4/4/2014 A two-player game with Alternate Units, King of the Hill, and Time Is of the Essence.
d10-6 4/27/2014 A two-player game with original rules (except for a few alternate exploration tokens).
d10-7 6/1/2014 A first go with the Energy Dependence variant. Fun!
d10-8 6/8/2014 Bad Neighbors with Time Is of the Essence. Tied at 6 before Death from Above!
d10-9 8/23/2014 A two-player game with alternate units and King of the Hill.
d10-0 8/27/2014 Another two-player King of the Hill game, this time with standard units.

Edited again to add: Now a GeekList! with pics, session reports, and digressive conversations.

I love the idea of this challenge and would like to give it a go!
100% done!

Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game - A game I love and want to play more of. Want to mix in the newer expansions I haven't used.
1. 2/16/14 - Two player game with a co-worker, trying to defeat Mephisto.

2, 3. 4/12/14 - Game 1 I taught to a co-worker. We used the beginner villain of Red Skull. He likened it to Dominion which he plays a lot and picked up quickly. Game two was a 3 player game and we took on Dr. Doom.

4. 5/11/14 - Played a solo game against Mole Man. I really wanted to try the Fantastic Four expansion, but wasn't finding any takers. This game is only "ok" for me solo. I much prefer playing with others. Just more fun to work together and talk about it.

5. 5/21/14 - Joel and I made up some cards for DC. I decided to try some of them out tonight solo. Again, not my favorite way to play. They worked out pretty well, except that the Joker got away. I think if someone else was playing along with me, it would have played better. Need to try them out again some time.

6. 5/22/14 - Nice four player game tonight with a couple of co-workers and Joel. One of the guys just kept working the Punisher combos and cleaned up. It was fun to watch the engine he had going. Nobody else really helped. We played against Loki.

7. 5/26/14 - Joel and I tried to take on Galactus. Oh, what a disaster. We got demolished.

8. 6/19/14 - Had some coworkers over for a gaming night and we played a 4 player game. I said we should play somebody easy like Red Skull and we ended up getting beaten badly!

9. 9/5/14 - Played a solo game tonight. Just had an itch to play this one. Decided to do something thematic... Daredevil/Electra/Iron Fist against Kingpin. Fun.

10. 9/5/14 - A second solo game tonight to wrap up the 10x10 challenge. It's been a lot of fun. I'm glad I gave it a go!

B-17 Queen of the Skies - Solo game I really want to play. Looks like a lot of fun.
1. 4/2/14 - Took my first flight with this game. I didn't get any bombs on target but was able to get back in one piece (draw)

2. 4/3/14 - for the second mission in a row, I failed to drop any bombs on target. It was a very quick run.

3. 4/3/14 - I decided to give it another go today. This time we were able to drop some bombs on target. The pilot got seriously wounded and had to be sent home.

4. 4/5/14 - finally a good run for the crew. We got 60% of the bombs on target and got home in one piece. This game has really captured my imagination. I'm having a really good time.

5. 4/5/14 - I had to go again after the success of the last run. Not quite as successful, but just as much fun.

6. 4/5/14 - tragedy struck. Flak hit my bomb bay and instantly exploded the plane.

7. 4/6/14 - brand new plane and crew for the 7th mission. I'm finding myself on the edge of my seat playing this game. Hoping to survive each wave, hoping for decent fighter cover. What fun!

8. 4/9/14 - More sad news. The "Bigfoot" was shot down over the water. Only 3 of the crew were rescued.

9. 4/13/14 - Another new plane for me. We flew into Holland on this run and survived. Got a few bombs on target.

10. 4/16/14 - What a great game this has turned out to be. I'm glad I made the investment in this old gem. I can see me playing this for years to come.

Carcassonne: Wheel of Fortune - After getting this as a Christmas present, we are having fun with it.
1. 1/12/14 - played a game with my wife tonight. We have not been playing with the wheel. We just pick a starting tile and go from there. Works well for us.

2 & 3. 1/13/14 - Played a couple games with Chip at work today. I learned a few tricks from him. he's a sneaky player, trying to horn in on my points.

3. 1/17/14 - played another game with chip over lunch today. Could only play one today, had people stopping and asking what we were playing.

4 & 5. 1/26/14 - We played a couple games after the kids went to bed. I like playing this with my wife. We can actually talk about our day while playing.

6. 2/9/14 - We added the Inns and Cathedrals exp to this. Boy, you can try and be mean if you want late in the game with that expansion!

7. 2/28/14 - Nice casual game on the weekend. For some reason, I just win this game against my wife. I think she is working to hard at fitting the pieces together and I'm scheming on how to best get points.

8. 3/31/14 - It's been a while since we played this one. Overdue. I do enjoy playing this one. The luck of the tiles can fall one way or the other a little bit, but it's not to bad usually.

9. 4/9/14 - I really enjoy this game and have not tired of it yet. It's fun to throw in the Inns and Cathedrals from time to time. I'm on the lookout for other expansions to throw in to mix it up.

10. 4/16/14 - I really enjoy this and don't see getting rid of it. Just a nice quiet game, not a brain burner and fun.

Backgammon - A game I like to play, but never seem to get to the table.
1 -10. During Boy Scout camp the week of June 22nd I had the opportunity to play a lot. I brought along a small travel (thrifted) copy of backgammon. I played a game with my son, and then all the boys wanted to learn. I spent a lot of time teaching this classic game to the boys. I had a great time teaching and playing this game. I got a better appreciation for it when teaching it to the boys. It was fun to watch them pick up on the game and then play each other after I taught them.

Hive - New Game to me this year.
1, 2, 3. 7/11/14 - This was a learning night. Figuring out how the pieces move and work. Played three games with my wife. Found out there a pretty deep strategy here.

4, 5, 6. 7/13/14 - Taught my son how to play today. It is his 13th b-day. He immediately caught on to the game and played well. He beat me 2 out of 3 games.

7, 8, 9. 7/16/14 - Played three more games against my son and the best I could do was 1 draw out of the three games. He's really gotten good at this game and traps me all the time. I'm bound to figure this out and beat him.

10. 7/16/14 - Taught my daughter how to play. Just a learning game, but always fun to spend a little time with her playing a game.

Ticket To Ride - Great time to play with the family.
1, 2, 3. 1/25/14 - After getting this game from a fellow thrifter, I had to try it out. First try was with Sheila and Joel. We liked it and brought it to the in-laws for a b-day get together. Played it two more times at their place.

4. 1/26/14 - Sheila suggested trying it out again. Still trying to figure out some strategy. I like to try and connect all my routes if I can and try to make one long train.

5. 1/29/14 - We let my daughter teach this one. There were 5 players and it made the game a lot different. More competition for routes. I didn't want to take as many destination cards because I didn't think I could complete them with this many people.

6. 1/29/14 - Another game after the kids went to bed, with 4 players. Still busy on the board but didn't seem to fight for routes quite as much. I like this game.

7. 2/1/14 - Another 5 player game with Joel and my parents. Another full board and difficulty trying to complete destinations.

8. 2/1/14 - Only 4 players in this one.

9, 10. 2/2/14 - Played some two player with my mom.

Fits - New Game that's getting some play time.

1, 2, 3. 5/25/14 - Finally took the shrink off and gave it a go. Good fun!
4, 5. 5/26/14 - We had to play it right away again the next day. We both really like how it plays. It's non-confrontational, really playing to beat the game.

6. 6/1/14 - I finally got a good score. I don't know if I'm figuring it out, or just got lucky tho.

7, 8. 6/15/14 - Taught my mom how to play and played a couple of games with her. She really liked it as well.

9. 7/31/14 - taught my co-worker to play on game night. I still struggle with this game. I just don't watch the big picture and sometimes do really poorly.

10. 8/25/14 - Let my wife thoroughly trounce me in a couple games tonight. She is just good at this spacial relation thing. I still struggle but have fun playing.

Octopus' Garden - This is a Christmas present from my wife.
1. 2/3/14 - We really didn't know what we were doing, it was over quick and I thought, "is that it?".

2. 2/3/14 - some of the strategy is starting to rear it's head. I got an early start with a clown fish, Sheila concentrated on Relics for the win.

3. 2/15/14 - this game is growing on us. Another game that we can sit and play, carry on a conversation and not terribly difficult. As we are finding out, there some depth to the strategy. What do I buy/when/where do I put it.

4 & 5 & 6. 2/16/14 - We played three games before calling it a night. After finishing the second game, I said, "I haven't won this yet". Something about this game favors Sheila.

7 & 8. 2/17/14 - This game is calming for me. It's relaxing. It's great to play in the evening and unwind. I think I've only won once so far!

9 & 10. 2/19/14 - I've enjoyed the first 10 plays of this game and plan to keep it and continue to play it often with my wife. Great game for us.

D-Day Dice - This will probably be the easiest to do. This will probably see many solo plays.
1. 1/15/14 - Finally got the game in my hands on Monday. Didn't have a chance to rip off the shrink until last night when I read the rules. I gave it a whirl over lunch today, trying out the Tiger Beach training exercise. I got to Sector 8, where I lost all my men with a bad machine gun roll. I need to take more time at the beginning and try to load up on men before trying to advance. First try was a learning experience. When I get the hang of it, I know I'll enjoy this one.

2. 1/15/14 - I had another go at Tiger Beach tonight. I successfully made it up the right side. Had a larger group of soldiers in my unit this time and used my specialist better.

3. 1/15/14 - My son wanted to learn, so I gave him a quick overview on the turns and we got started. Unfortunately, his unit got wiped out on Sector 8.

4. 1/17/14 - I had some time to waste tonight and was feeling pretty good after my training exercises on Tiger, so I took a run at Omaha Beach. I tried going up the right side, got to sector 9 and the dice gave out on me.

5. 1/18/14 - My son and I gave Exercise Tiger another go. I'm surprised at how fun this is with two people. We were successful in assaulting the bunker. He really enjoyed this game and I'm guessing he'll want to play it more.

6. 1/18/14 - I tried another solo run at Omaha Beach. I was able to survive, just barely... had two men left after reaching the bunker. I'll be doing this map again.

7. 1/18/14 - I couldn't resist another try at Omaha Beach before calling it a night. I survived a little better than the last attempt, but not by much. I got a lucky roll in sector 9 that helped me storm the bunker.

8. 1/20/14 - During my lunch today, I thought I'd try to improve my score on Omaha Beach. Wow, in two games, I never got past sector 3. I could not roll anything but skulls and no soldiers. Ouch!

9 & 10 - 2/9/14 - I played 9 games today all on Omaha Beach. Could not roll worth a darn and lost them all.

Alternate Game: (added 1/27/14 - I just read that rule) Pandemic
(I'm invoking Pandemic in place of Pint Craft)

1. 4/12/14 - Introduced to a co-worker today. He had not played this and really enjoyed it. We lost when we ran out of player cards.

2. 4/12/14 - another co-worker and my nephew game this game a run tonight. We lost when the 8th outbreak happened.

3. 4/12/14 - Had to try again, we lost this time when we ran out of black cubes

4. 4/12/14 - Third time is the charm, right? We finally won!

5 & 6. 4/13/14 - My nephew stopped by today before he took off for home. He wanted to try and save the world again. My wife was glad to join us. Unfortunately, we lost both times.

7. 4/14/14 - My wife wanted to try and save the world tonight. We lost control in Africa and lost on outbreaks.

8. 4/14/14 - We had to try again. This time I was able to control things in Asia as the Medic, while she cured the diseases as the Scientist.

9,10. 4/25/14 - got a chance to teach this to my mom. After the third game (really exciting games too!) she was really getting the hang of it and enjoying it.

100 percent complete with many changes.

Only Race for the Galaxy was on my original list that got played ten times, although all of them were face to face. My other nine were;
Glass Road- love it and it plays very well solo.
Qwixx- great little filler game.
Coup- great game with the right group but it can't be played too often.
Splendor- I didn't like this much at first but warmed up to it, probably because my 13 year old daughter likes it so much. She usually wins.
Resistance- always a favorite with the right group.
Resistance Avalon- even better than the original. I love having Merlin there.
Russian Railroads- one of my alternate games. I love this game but after 10 plays, I feel like I've seen all this game has to offer.
Roll through the ages- nice filler game, we always play on the iPad which makes this game easy to get played often.
San Juan- one of the best card games out there.

While I liked participating in this challenge, it was very hard to get plays of longer games in. With so many new games coming out regularly, our game group plays a game 2-3 times and then moves on. I also figured out that while I enjoy playing solo, I usually don't because I am always so busy and gaming gets pushed to the side.

This will be a good yet ambitious challenge for me. I don't get to play nearly as much as I'd like to, so half of the games I've chosen can be played solo.

1- Snowdonia
I have this on preorder and am pretty excited about it. It plays solo.
Plays - :

2- Nations
On the same preorder. Plays solo (if I remember correctly). Hoping most plays will not be solo.
Plays -

3- Mage Knight Board Game
This one will be tough. I've had this game for over a year now and have only played a partial game.
Plays -

4- Goa
I've had this game for a long time but have not yet played it (a reoccurring theme for me in this challenge). Hopefully, it won't be too long for my family to play often.
Plays -

5- Race for the Galaxy
I am only going to count non-solo plays of this game. It's one my family needs to revisit anyway, so this will give them that opportunity.
Plays -

6- Pax Porfiriana
This is going to be another tough one because I haven't played or learned it yet. The reason it's on this list is because I wanted it so bad, my husband bought it for me, and I am miffed that I haven't learned it yet. I think if we can get through a couple of games, it may become a favorite.
Plays -

7- Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island
Also on preorder. Plays solo. I've wanted a really good coop for a long time and this one looks good.
Plays -

8- The Palaces of Carrara
Easy to learn and teach so my family can help me with this one. It also plays quick which is also good for my family.
Plays -

9- Legacy: The Testament of Duke de Crecy I hope my family likes this enough to play it often. I love games that tell a story.
Plays -

10- Archipelago Another one that plays solo. That makes half of my games soloable, which I will need if I want to come close to completing this. It's still going to be a long shot, but here's to trying.
Plays -

Alternate game:Russian Railroads

Alternate game:
Love LetterThis may be the only one that actually gets ten plays.

Edit: 12/13 changed three games.

Awesome idea. Now that I'm part of a new gaming group that is getting off the ground I can get some of my underplayed games to the table and just play more games in general.

I'm in! Now with added geeklistness!

Progress: 31/100

01 E Race for the Galaxy
A somewhat recent addition but one I'm quickly becoming super addicted to! I don't think this one will be too hard to accomplish.

Played: 01/05/2014 (x1) || 01/11/2014 (x2) || 14/Aug/2014 (x3)

02 E Ghost Stories
Present from my Secret Santa, played it a few times already and enjoyed it immensely so I'm looking forward to delving deeper into it.

Played: 01/01/2014 (x2) || 14/Mar/2014 (x1)

03 E Mage Knight Board Game
This one takes a while to play so it's challenging, but it's my favourite game at the moment so I'm hoping it'll get played enough.

Played: 01/18/2014 (x1) || 01/Mar/2014 (x1)

04 E The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game 10 PLAYS ACHIEVED!
Another one of my current addictions! I got a bunch of new adventure packs recently and I'm looking forward to explore them all.

Played: 01/04/2014 (x3) || 01/05/2014 (x1) || 01/25/2014 (x2) || 01/26/2014 (x4)
Note: I'm still playing and recording my plays of this game, but only on my geeklist as this item is all done as far as this challenge is concerned.

05 E Archipelago
New game, I'm still learning it but it looks like it will be great to play often.

Played: 01/19/2014 (x1)

06 E Merchants & Marauders
We just played this for the first time and loved it! It's long-ish so it will be hard to accomplish but we don't have that many long games in the list so maybe we'll make it.

07 E Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island
One of my favourites, lately has been a bit neglected in favour of shinier items, I'd love to get back to it soon!

Played: 01/19/2014 (x2)

08 E Arctic Scavengers
I'm very fond of card games, and this one has some really clever stuff and plays really nicely.

Played: 28/May/2014 (x2) || 06/Jun/2014 (x1)

09 E Village
Another super recent addition, bday present from my husband.

Played: 02/13/2014 (x1)

10 E Eldritch Horror
We've been enjoying this game a lot even though we got it very recently.

Played: 13/Aug/2014 (x2) || 15/Aug/2014 (x1)

--

Alternates/Bonuses:
11 E Forbidden Desert

12 E Troyes

Removed:
08 E Android: Netrunner
10 E Galaxy Trucker

________________________

Edit: Ok, list finished! My husband is my gaming partner so he helped choosing the games. I think it shall stay this way but we'll probably go over it once more before the year ends to make sure we're both happy with the selection. I'm considering making a geeklist to expand on the plays a bit, but we'll see!

--
Decided to swap Troyes for Merchants & Marauders but left it as another alternate/bonus, because I'd like to try and play those 10 times as well if I can (or in case we end up not enjoying any of the others as much).

--

EDIT Jan 4th: Made a geeklist to track my progress! Still a bit rough, but I'll improve on it later

EDIT Aug 17th: I've decided to make some changes. Galaxy Trucker was replaced by Eldritch Horror, and Android: Netrunner was replaced by Arctic Scavengers. We tried to chose games that were not significantly lighter than our initial choices, but that we felt better inclined to explore further. I've included a brief explanation for the changes in the items on my geeklist.

Really excited for this challenge!

My wife and I have been talking about how we wanted to get deeper in some of our games. This will give us some extra motivation.

I think 10 plays is usually enough to really know how much you like a game... after 10 plays you can usually see yourself going to 100 or not getting to 20.

This list is mostly new games we got at the end of 2013 or for which we got new expansions. I tried to focus on longer games, as we play "fillers" a lot and I'd also like to use this motivation to play some longer games.

EDIT: my wife upped the ante on this challenge. We have pretty much hit the wall in terms of game storage space, and she has forbidden me from buying any more games until we PLAY EVERY GAME WE HAVE 10 TIMES!! So I am going to begin tracking that here - but only counting plays that occurred from Jan 2014 onward!

1) Dominion
2) Friday
3) San Juan
4) Bang!
5) Splendor

6) The Castles of Burgundy
7) Tigris & Euphrates
8) Finca
9) Power Grid
10) The Resistance/Avalon
11) Tikal
12) Suburbia
13) Kingdom Builder
14) 7 Wonders
15) Yedo
16) Eight Minute Empires: Legends
17) Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small
18) Qwirkle
19) Coup
20) Saboteur
21) Hanabi
22) Innovation
23) El Grande
24) Samurai
25) Escape:Curse of the Temple
26) Backgammon
27) Hive
28) Jaipur
29) Blokus
30) Ingenious
31) RED
32) Pandemic

So, uh, I noticed the first list was made up by Ameritrash games only; we spend lots of time with Cat playing also Euro, so that I asked Sarah if she was ok with me starting a second list devoted to Euro. I'll try to focus on recent games for two different reasons:
a) first of all, it's a good push to get "hot titles" out for Essen we haven't picked up now
b) if the first list was devoted to "games we love but we're afraid we won't play them that often and it's a pity", this list will be devoted to new games, so that new friends could become old friends
Let's start then! (between brackets, the number of plays for each game we played so far - aye, not in 2013, in our whole life)

01. Russian Railroads (0)

2014.01.26 - Game 1 played, 3p. Great game, complex yet not difficult, that plays incredibly smooth. Final result: Andrea 297, Julia 167, Cat 194.
2014.01.27 - Game 2 played, 3p. Tried a different strategy, not considering industrilization as an option but focusing on railroads. Final result: Andrea 310, Julia 286, Cat 189.

02. Twilight Struggle (0)

03. Legacy: The Testament of Duke de Crecy (0)

04. Red Winter: The Soviet Attack at Tolvajärvi, Finland – 8-12 December 1939 (0)

05. Madeira (0)

06. Here I Stand (0)

07. Series: 18xx (5)

(additional challenge: one of these games must be a complete 1825 game, with all the three Units in play)

08. Village (1)

09. Rococo (2)

2014.01.12 - Game 1 played, 3p. Final score: Andrea (60), Cat (56), Julia (39). I'll have my revenge!

10. Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game (0)

Back-up game:

11. Bruxelles 1893

So, ten games to be played ten times, but also ten unplayed games (well, nine, but only one play for a game doesn't really count, does it?)! Let's see what happens!

Edit: considering a challenge must be a challenge, I switched Age of Steam for Series: 18xx (I do want to focus on these next year! It's a life we want to dig deeper in the matter). For the same reasons, I changed Suburbia and Concordia with Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game and Red Winter: The Soviet Attack at Tolvajärvi, Finland – 8-12 December 1939, and Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar with Here I Stand. I'm pretty sure we'll never complete the challenge, but it's the journey that is fascinating.

***NOTE: On November 18th, I completed the (revised list) NON-hardcore challenge***

Okay Sarah, you've tempted me to try this challenge! Thank you.

I don't normally keep track of plays, so this is going to be a change for me, but I think it will be a good incentive to get some of the games I want to play to the table.
I'm still not going to officially log my plays, though.

Since I am currently lacking in gaming partners, except very rarely, my list is going to be all solo-playable games (either solitaire, co-op, or straight-forward "play both sides" types like chess or most wargames).

I will also likely be posting them in the monthly Solitaire Games on Your Table geeklists as I play them. Here is the link the Solitaire Games on Your Table Subscription thread:
http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/986303/

--------------------------------------------

B-17: Queen of the Skies
Board Game: B-17: Queen of the Skies

B-17 is a vintage solitaire WWII bomber wargame which almost always seems to tell exciting stories. I haven't decided whether to start a new campaign or continue the one with a crew of Norse Valkyries. I hope I can complete at least 10 games without losing the plane and crew and having to start another campaign to finish the 10 plays.

Dungeon Roll
Board Game: Dungeon Roll

Dungeon Roll is a dice-based game that plays very well solo. I would like to play this game more to try out all the different characters. I have the first Hero expansion, and also, sometime next year, I should be getting the holiday expansion, so I should have plenty of characters to choose from for my 10 games.
thumbsup COMPLETED!

Elder Sign
Board Game: Elder Sign

Elder Sign is a co-op, Cthulhu Mythos, dice-based game that is one of my favorite games to play solo. I usually use 3 investigators. I recently got the expansion which is supposed to make the game more difficult to win, so it is good we are counting plays and not wins! (I've also been using my Clockless variant.)

Firefly
Board Game: Firefly: The Game

Firefly uses a lot of table space so I haven't played it yet although I have been looking it over and reading the forums at BGG, and already considering variants! I love space trader games and I love the Firefly show, so I am eager to play this one. It has a story card with 3 solo missions, but there are a lot of solo missions created by fans, and the regular story cards can be easily adapted to play solo.

History Maker Baseball
Board Game: History Maker Baseball

I have a lot of baseball replay/simulation games. I need be sure to get my baseball fix in the winter! Most of them can be played 2-player or solo. History Maker Baseball is fairly new and differs from many of the others because it uses qualities for the players (and umpires) rather than numerical statistics. I've created a detailed scoresheet and extra players for the Century League fictional set (see the Free Stuff section at Plaay.com) and have been working on creating a fictional Women's League set. So, my 10 plays may continue the series I have been playing with teams drafted from the Century League, or if I finish creating my Women's League and get it printed up, I may play some of the games with it.

Patton's Best
Board Game: Patton's Best

Patton's Best is a solitaire game that puts the player in command of a WWII Sherman tank and crew. I plan to play the games in a campaign with the aim of gaining experience for my crew, upgraded tanks, and earning promotions and surviving through the end of the campaign!

Phantom Leader Deluxe
Board Game: Phantom Leader Deluxe

Phantom Leader Deluxe is a good solitaire wargame that I enjoy. I may play far more than 10 games of it. Pilots can advance in experience levels and/or become fatigued (or lost) when you play games in a campaign.
thumbsup COMPLETED!

Space Infantry
Board Game: Space Infantry

Space Infantry is a good science-fiction-based solitaire wargame. I recently got an expansion for it and may include it in my plays.

Soccer Replay
Board Game: Soccer Replay

Soccer Replay is a vintage sports game that can be played 2-player or solo. I have many expansion sets, including all of the complete World Cup sets through 2006 and many European league sets and championships.

Tokyo Express
Board Game: Tokyo Express: The Guadalcanal Naval Campaign – 1942

Tokyo Express is my favorite solitaire wargame, and IMHO, the best WWII naval wargame. I don't play it enough because it uses a lot of table space (and can take a while to play). Adding it to this list will be a good incentive to get this great game to the table more often.

-----------------------------------------

ALTERNATE GAME #11:
AstroNavis Merchant Advanced

Board Game: AstroNavis Merchant Advanced

AstroNavis Merchant Advanced is a nice solitaire, space trader, print-and-play game that I bought and printed several years ago. It has a small footprint and plays fairly quickly. I am listing this as an alternate in case it becomes impossible for me to play one of the above-listed games 10 times.
()

There is a good chance I will also play other games, including other solo games, although probably not 10 times each next year, which I will list (along with those from this list) in the appropriate geeklist for listing what people have been playing recently. (I'm still not going to log my plays! )

I may not complete the challenge, but I will have fun trying.

EDIT: I replaced the card game, Sentinels of the Multiverse with the wargame, Tokyo Express.
EDIT: I replaced the card game, Pathfinder Adventure Card Game with the wargame, Patton's best.
EDIT: Fixed some serious typos (like the description for Phantom Leader Deluxe) and some minor ones, too.

========

EDIT: (October 26, 2014) I have realized that I am not going to complete the hardcore challenge of 10 games each of the games from my original list. I have found that I am playing more 2-player and multi-player games than the original list of solo-playable games. Also, I am playing these boardgames mostly online at Yucata.de (according to the rules, these still qualify, as long as they are started and finished in 2014 after I entered the contest. Since I entered the contest at the year's start, any board games played and finished during 2014 will count towards the non-hardcore challenge (boardgames that were not necessarily listed on my original list.

Therefore, I am revising my list to include the games that I have complete at least 10 plays of in 2014, and am going towards completely the non-hardcore challenge instead of the hardcore (original list) challenge.

========
THIS IS MY REVISED NON-HARDCORE LIST of games for the 10 x 10 challenge:

There was a time when 10 plays in a year would have been no problem at all, but that was almost 20 years ago. I don't think that I have played it in almost 15 years. Marriage and kids make it tough, but now I have a dedicated game space set up for the true time-burners. So maybe it can be done!

Progress track goo 16/100

Love the challenge. I'm new to the hobby (started this year!) so I don't own a lot of games yet. However I play with some people that have extensive libraries, and I end up not playing the few games I own nearly enough.

So my list will have some of my own games, games my friends have but I enjoy and might buy sometime next year and even games I think are awesome but have never played (next on my buy list). So there is to hoping I will like those games! =)

Suburbia - I own this one, and really really like it (one of my favorites) but only payed non-solo a couple of times... I'm also hoping to get the expansion sometime soon!

Agricola -- Don't have this one, but it's on my short buy list! I really enjoy it, it is one of my favorites, but I take it for granted because everyone I know has it. Might be hard to play 10 times because it isn't as new for everyone else as it is for me =)

Hanabi -- This might be easy. I own it and it's my go to game to introduce to non-gamers. And almost every time somebody plays it for the first time, they wanna play it again and try to get a better score. I enjoy it a lot, lets see if keeps the momentum next year!

Discworld: Ankh-Morpork -- I own and really enjoy this game, but since it's on the "light side" it gets left behind from a lot of our game nights. I want to make sure it gets some playing next year!

Space Alert -- Right now this is one of my favorite games. And I'm obcessed with leveling up and getting achievements! So I can play 5 times in one sitting, easily! But I don't own it and I have a very specific set of friends that will play it. Even though I don't think it'll be hard, I'd definitely enjoy playing it 10+ times! =)

1. - 02/04 - 1st mission of the campaign! Perfect win!! (4 players)
2. - 02/04 - 2nd mission of the campaign! Almost dead, beaten up but alive!
3. - 02/04 - 3rd game ship was wrecked, we should have stopped but didn't, we died disgracefully! (btw, I LOVE this game!!)
4. - 02/17 - Sneaked in a quick game at the end of a game night! We won!
5. - 03/06 - Two player campaign! 1st game, hard but we made it!
6. - 03/06 - 2nd mission of the campaign, it was almost perfect, except for the damages from the 1st mission! TBC.

10.

Small World -- The first game I ever bought, it got a lot of playing the first quarter of 2013, but then as I got more into the hobby, it got left behind a little (I tend not to play much of my own games...) I recently got the Taled and Legends expansion, so I'm hoping that will shake up the game a little

1. - 02/04 - A friend bought a copy! He wanted to play! Fun 3 player, I came in second, only 2 points behind! Flying Ratman to the win!!
2.

10.

Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar -- I really really enjoy this game. I don't won it (yet!) but it is just awesome! It's a little on the long side, but if my friends are up for it, I'm always game!

1. - 01/12 - I got this for xmas!!! And got to teach friends who really enjoyed it!
2. - 01/14 - Friends liked it so much they wanted to teach other friends! Yay!
3. - 03/13 - After bringing the game to multiple game nights, finally got it to the table. 4 players, lots of fun, I cam in 3rd.
4. - 03/15 - Got excited about the game again after playing this week, so I sneaked in a 3 player game tonight. And I won! =)

Takenoko -- Another one that I don't own, but enjoy a lot. I think it's one of my favorites light weigh game at the moment. It's quick, the art is outstanding and it works as an great gateway game (I'm thinking of introducing it to my family during xmas). I wonder if it will wear off after a while, but I think 10 times is pretty reasonable.

1. - 01/12 - Played this introducing to a new player, who won the game. Lot's of fun!
2. - 03/14 - Got a chance to play lots of games this week! I taught this game to my roommate (which is a non gamer) but she really enjoyed it and almost won!!
3.

10.

7 Wonders -- Another game on the to buy list (wow, it's a pretty long list by now! Well, that's our hobby I guess) but everyone owns it. I got burnt out after playing it dozens of times in a short period of time (my gaming group is big and doesn't like to split up in multiple games) so I refused to play it for a while. But then I played again after a couple of months and rediscovered why I liked it in the first place! I guess the trick is moderation! And 10 times seems like the percy balance.

Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island -- Last but not least, the game I have been obsessing about for the last 2 months. I don't own it, I have never played it, but I think I'm in love with it! Seriously, when I found out about this game (yes, late to the party) I decided I needed to get it, but as everyone knows it's sold out everywhere and impossibly expansive on e-bay. So now I am counting the hours for the reprint to come out so I can order a copy, and if the game is as good as it looks, I will definitely be playing 10+ times! Let's hope it is so I can complete this list!

1. - 02/01 - Finally got my copy!! (Imported from UK) I was SOO excited to try. !st game solo, castaways scenario, I WON!! Turns out I got a pretty important rule wrong, only reason why I won =P
2. - 02/02 - 2nd try, now with the right rules and NO luck! Solo, castaways scenario, I got blocked out of basically all the wood in the game, and died alone in the cursed island! (btw, I'm in love with this game)
3. - 02/17 - I had people over exclusively so I could try the game non-solo. 4 players, castaways scenario, we won! But I'm pretty sure we got some of the rules wrong! Anyway, I love this game!
