2015 Challenge: Play 10 Games 10 Times Each

Background:
For 2013, I participated in the challenge to play all my unplayed games, which wasn’t easy since, like many people, I kept buying more. But I feel good in having met the spirit of the challenge in consciously keeping up with the new games I bought through my own tracking geeklist. I even focused on replaying games, but usually only once.

This left me with an empty feeling, of not being able to get into the meat of some of the games. We hardly ever play a game more than a couple of times before we move on to something else. And I don’t want to do that this year. Nope, this year I’m going to focus on replaying games a lot and getting into the strategy of them. It’s not going to be easy, especially with fantastic new games always coming out, but I’m going to pick 10 and stick with it.

2/25/14 Rules Changed - Read the bolded sections carefully!

The Challenge:
If you’re interested in joining me in this challenge, it’s pretty easy to do so and may even hold some small prizes at the end. Anyone can join at any time in 2014.

1. Add an item, either a game from your list or create your own Geeklist and enter its ID.
2. In the comment form for the item, write down your ten games.
3. Under each game, write 1-10 to track the number of plays or use stars.
4. When you play the game, enter the date next to the highest empty number (if you want to).
5. You may include any plays that happened in 2014, even if they were before you joined the challenge.
6. If you don't like a game on your list, you may add a new one to your list. You can do this change as many times as you like. As long as you play 10 games 10 times by the end of the year, it doesn't matter if it was the original 10 you chose to list. If you do change a game, please send a Geekmail to BK (user:Vacabck) as he's collating data on this challenge.
The game list must be finalized by midnight of December 31st, 2013. Except those who join in 2014, your list must be finalized before you begin tracking games. No plays before joining count towards this challenge.
7. The challenge starts January 1st, 2014 and ends December 31st, 2014. Do not count any games played before January 1st, 2014 or after December 31st, 2014.
8. When you have completed the challenge, played all 10 games 10 times, send me a GeekMail with a link to your item on this Geeklist. (Click on the number of your entry and it will give you a permanent hyperlink.)
9. If you have any questions, please send me a Geekmail or post in the comment section at the very bottom of this Geeklist. Due to my current health issues, I cannot keep up with how big this list has become. I do want to be here to help, but I just don't have time to regularly read through every page.

Note: If you want to enter the challenge more than once, it is allowed. You may create as many lists of 10 as you like. However, to make it fair for those whom this is a real challenge, prizes will be awarded for the completion of one list, not each list.

Prizes:
At the end of 2014, I’ll review the entries and anyone who has completed the challenge will get a prize. I’m going to start with Geek Gold. I’m putting in 20 GG to get started and will add to it any GG donated to this Geek List. The total amount will be split among those who succeed at the challenge. While I will be tracking my progress here, I will not be eligible for the prizes. And depending upon how the year goes, I may include more prizes, but no promises right now.
Jamey Stegmaier has donated a copy of Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia to be given to one random person who completes the challenge. Thanks so much Jamey!
Darrell Louder has donated a copy of Compounded with Compounded: Chemical Chaos to be given to one random person who completes the challenge. Thanks so much Darrell!
Eric Jome (user:cosine) will give 50 GG to anyone who succeeds on the challenge with more than 5 games that were published before 2004 on their list. No games released in 2004 count. It is okay to play a new edition of a game if the original came out before 2004.
BK (user:Vacabck) will give 63 GG to the participant with the most entertaining thread/geeklist chronicling their 10x10 journey. This will be decided by him. Check for his thumb on your GeekList to see if he's tracking it. If not, send him a GeekMail.
Mark Walker (user:Mark Holt Walker) of Lock 'n Load Publishing (www.lnlpublishing.com), will donate two boxed games to one participant that completes the challenge with at least 5 war games in the 10 games. The winner will be selected randomly.

889 total users
1,644 different games

286 users completed the challenge (as of 1/24/15)
32% of users completed the challenge

Etc:
Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you’ll consider joining the challenge, but most importantly – play games!

--If you play a game multiple times in a row, each completed game counts as a play. Partial games do not count, but can be added together to count as whole games.

--Feel free to include expansions in your games. I would recommend to record plays under the base game, though, and not have an entry for the expansions themselves. The exception is game expansions that can be played on their own. One example is Dominion since you can play each expansion as it's own focus as long as you have the base cards.

--Any games in a series still count as their own game. For example, the Tempest line of games. However, the exceptions are D&D, 18xx, Dungeon Command, Heroscape and GMT Coin. Brass and Age of Industry can be on entry as well. If you think of any other exceptions, please let me know.

--If you feel that step 3 & 4 above will make your entry too long, feel free to record it some other way such as using 10 stars in a row or just recording the number of plays instead of a vertical list with dates.

--Feel free to play your games in any order that you like. You don't have to start with #1 and play all 10 games before going to #2. Unless that is how you want to do it.

--Role-playing games count. Each session counts as a play. So if you meet 10 times, that's 10 plays.

--For games that have scenarios, playing through a scenario counts as a play.

--Online/digital games count regardless if you are playing against a person or the computer AI. The game just has to be a digital implementation of a physical board game.

Mage Knight
1. 1/2/14 - Arythea vs Volkare's Return - Victory (151)
2. 1/3/14 - Krang vs Volkare's Return, one ups Arythea (152)
3. 1/4/14 - Goldyx can't find crystals and gets destroyed vs Volkare
4. 1/4/14 - Volkare sneaks up on Goldyx early and it's no match
5. 1/4/14 - Goldyx gets revenge on Volkare! (165)
6. 1/4/14 - Tovak vs Volkare (167)
7. 1/4/14 - Norowas vs Volkare (137)
8. 1/5/14 - Decided to play them all even though my first 3 plays with Wolfhawk when I first got her didn't impress me. So I set out to take everything in my wake if I could and I was able to often move and attack each turn. Scoring my new high of 200! Wolfhawk has renewed respect from me. Two more to go, but I'll come back to this after I've played some others now.
9. 6/7 - Volkare's quest with Wolfawk. Lost. i don't know what it is, but I really struggle with this quest. Barely get to brown tiles and he's almost at portal. Didn't have anywhere near the firepower to beat him. And had no mana for only spell that gave me a chance.
10. 6/7 - Volkare's Return - Wolfhawk. Won, tying my score of 200. A good way to end this portion of the challenge. Every time I play this game, it reminds me why it is so clearly my #1.

Lord of the Rings: The Card Game
1. 1/5/14 - 2-player vs Passage through Mirkwood - Victory
2. 1/5/14 - Journey down the Anduin. Very narrow defeat, need to make the deck more efficient.
3. 1/6/14 - Journey down the Anduin. Whupped it bad this time. Like the new deck!
4. 1/7/14 - Escape from Dol Goldur. Way too many locations and never drew enough questing. - Defeat
5. 1/7/14 - Escape from Dol Goldur again. Did better, but was hurting when I got to stage 3. It has been so long since I last played this, that I forgot what happened. Wasn't ready to run through and extra guards got to me. - Defeat
6. 1/9/14 - Got revenge on Dol Goldur. Easy victory!
7. 1/10/14 - Lost three times to Carrock (not counting anymore on this list unless I win!). So close. Just the wrong card at the wrong time.
8. 1/11/14 - Took out the Carrock.
9. 1/11/14 - Lost at first shot at Rhogsobel. Never saw any healing cards or Athelas.
10. 1/11/14 - Much better next time against Rhogsobel, then finished off Emyn Muil and an easy victory against The Dead Marches (Unexpected Courage of Eowyn makes this a breeze.) Finally a Mirkwood finale with a victory against the Return to Mirkwood. That last one was close, but I ended up doing a sprint through the last 3 phases of the scenario, squeaking out the win. Onto the Dwarves now!

Robinson Crusoe
1. 1/1/14 - Cook vs the Volcano. Victory!
2. 1/1/14 - Carpenter, Explorer Eaten by Cannibals. Defeat
3. 2/1/14 - 2-player close loss in scenario 1
4. 2/11/14 - Trying 4 player game. Lost scenario 1, just couldn't get enough wood.
5. 2/13/14 - Another 4 player game. I thought I was cruising along, doing well and then all of a sudden 4 clouds I couldn't handle and everyone was dead. Not exactly sure where I went wrong.
6. 5/11 - Almost everything went right. Wimpy events (some even helped). Won easily on turn 10. 4 people Castaways.
7. 5/17 - Lost at Cannibal Island. The sad part is I didn't even draw book events. I just ran out of out food almost every turn because of bad events. Also exploring brought totems on the first 3 draws.
8. 6/10 - Carpenter/Cook lost at Swiss Family Robinson. Got to Day 11. Had a chance, but string of bad events cost me. Didn't have great inventions either.
9. 6/14 - Same pair, lost again. This time the drawn inventions were great, the tiles I drew on exploration were great. It was going fantastic, then 2 bad events in a row cost my carpenter about 7 life and then I failed 3 out of 4 builds and got a bonus orange die in the weather and promptly rolled 4 clouds. Game over. Only turn 6 this time. One more time!
10. 6/14 - Victory for Swiss Family Robinson!! Came down to a palisade roll on 11th turn. I doubt I would have made it through the 12th. Near death, had an event that was going to hurt going out next turn. When you win this game, it always evokes fist pumping and elation. Great way to end this portion of the challenge.

Sentinels of the Multiverse (Playing Cataclysm Campaign)
1. 1/14 - Legacy, Haka and Visionary easily take out Vengeful Baron Blade
2. 1/14 - tachyon, Omnitron-x, Tempest take care of Cosmic Omnitron easily
3. 1/14 The Scholar, Absolute Zero, Chrono-Ranger take out Spite thanks to meticulous damage prevention from the Scholar.
4. 1/15 - Mr. Foxer, Ra and Argent Adept slice and roast Plague rat in Final Wasteland
5. 1/15 - Bunker, Fanatic, Tempest struggle but manage to take out La Capitan at the Wagner Mars Base. Fanatic didn't quite make up, but her spirit helped.
6. 1/16 - Expatriette, Haka, Wraith wade through waves of Grand Warlord Voss' minions and thanks mostly to Haka's Savage mana (and the waves of minions) they manage to win with nobody having more than 4hp left.
7. 5/3 - legacy, Haka and Unity take out Gloomweaver in Final Wasteland
8. 5/3 - tachyon, Omnitron-X and Tempest take out Ashkabuta in Wagner Mars base.
9. 5/4 - Tough one. The destroy all Ongoing, equipment and environment cards killed me. Chrono_ranger, Scholar, Wraith. Lost to Citizen Dawn in Pike Industrial.
10. Revenge is sweet. Swapped Chrono for Tachyon, who built up burst and had a nice 48 point damage turn on Citizen Dawn. Onto the next game.

Myth
1. 4/12 - Finally got to this. Did the start of the Weaver's Tale (Solider, Acolyte, Apprentice) Won
2. 4/12 - Same quest with Apprentice, Archer, Bandit. Made too many mistakes to really count as a win but did complete it. I'm learning so it's all good. Absolutely love the card play on each turn.
3. 4/13 - Did first act of No Rest for the Weary. (Acolyte, Soldier, Apprentice, Archer). So far so good.
4. 5/10 - Act2 "You're going to die here, you know" Umm nope. Did well. Onto Act 3
5. 5/11 - Act 3 - Lost on realm tile. Trap on small tile took a lot out of me. Needed to heal up some before moving to big tile. Also got a bit cocky and added 2 lairs. Add to that the +1AP penalty and it was just too much.
6. 7/7 - Going at this Quest again. using Soldier, Brigand, Acolyte. Things were a bit tense on first 12x12 since I added 2 lairs. Took forever to get to the second one and take it out. Got great items that help keep the folks alive like a shield that adds TN and faith for the acolyte and it's a relic.
7. 7/8 - Act 2 No problem
8. 7/9 - Act 3 Big problem. Horrible fortune on events. Got one that made me summon 2 captains. Had 2 lairs so 4 captains. Then the next one said if 2 captains of same type, convert to mini-boss so I had Yardu. Had him down to one point, but couldn't roll 2 hits. He killed Brigand. I won't give up, although I'm not feeling the brigand.
9. 7/10 - Complete mess. First off, after resetting everything, I realized, I could have used serendipity on last failure and maybe would have survived. Oh well. This one had nothing right. Tried Acolyte, Apprentice and Archer on same Story. Had no now, had no focus, had no relic. Yeah not good. Made it past first board, died bad on next. Had healing cards when nobody was hurt, didn't have healing cards when I needed them. Yeah, you see the trend. One more try,
10. 7/12 - Same thing. Archer, Apprentice Acolyte. I really think I'm getting better at the game and better at understanding things. I figured out for the first time that 2 6x6 boards means you play a 6x12 board. Which is no more difficult really and it has a much better reward. Cruised through first act unscathed. Onto Act 2.

Galaxy Defenders
1. 3/22 - Mission 1. After a couple of resets because of getting rules wrong, I won the mission, taking out all 4 TPs.
2. 3/30 = Mission 2. Defeat with 3 marines. This is tough! Going to house rule that dead agents go back to the way they started (i.e. Reload). Some day, I'll try with official rules, but making this more difficult isn't necessary. Oh yeah also if I fail the mission, I don't take the failed result, I play it again. My game=my rules
3.3/30 - Success! Got a bit lucky with 2 human signals being close. Infiltrator and Marine took out aliens early and rescued both. One more close signal and I was set. Just had to survive. Infiltrator got grabbed and it went down hill quick. Marine went against code and retreated to stay out of LOS. Aliens never activated enough to get to him and I won!
4. 5/4 - Started the campaign over since I seemed to have lost their progress. Mission 1 - massive failure. Spine creatures close, Xeno-Beta far dead, dead, dead ... Got 1 teleport destroyed. Miserable.
5. Another defeat. I think I've learned something. I need to use cover more often. The Xena-betas just tear me up from 2 spaces away.
6. 5/4 Got 2 teleport points but still not good. Went slower. Starting to think using 5 agents is a mistake. If someone gets 2 Xeno-Betas shooting twice at him and has to wait for 4 more people to go, he's usually dead.
7. 5/7 - Back to this. Victory. Marine didn't make it but he will be remembered. Onto Mission 2.
8. 5/7 Won Mission 2. Starting to get the hang of this. Lost the Biotech on the last turn. Otherwise did much better using terrain.
9. 5/9 - Mission 3 Loss. Was doing great, but Alien assault followed by Activate all aliens just took way too much out of me. I was also just short of entering the rooms which meant I was in the open from every signal that moved on the assault. Brutal.
10. 5/10 - Brutal. Not sure what to do on this one. Need to get to rooms, but the 3 areas leading to them are a killing zone. Didn't even make it to Alien Assault and had 2 down. Maybe I'm supposed to hang back at beginning until Alien Assault is over. Then charge? But by then I have a -1 movement. Tough. Time to regroup and take on another game in the challenge.

Flash Point: Fire Rescue (One location at a time)
1. 1/20 - Win - CAFS, Driver, Veteran vs Starting Location 1 - 9-Saved, 1-Lost
2. 1/21 - Loss B side original game - Rescue Specialist, Imaging Tech, Captain. Never had a chance. Fire was worst at the furthest point from outside doors. Saved 3 victims, 1 died before the building collapsed.
3. 1/21 - Loss Urban Structure A - Paramedic, Structural Engineer, Generalist, Hazmat Tech. Collapsed Saved 2
4. 1/21 - Loss urban Structures Side B - Captain, Structural Engineer, Veteran, Rescue Dog, Saved 5. Better, but too much fire.
5. 1/21 - Loss - Office high Rise - Decided to hand pick crew, but I didn't want to use Driver as he seems overpowered. Captain, CAFS, Paramedic, Generalist. Too much fire upstairs, had CAFS downstairs. Saved 4.
6. 1/21 - Win - Second Story B - Had good control of the fire throughout. Captain, CAFS, Paramedic, Veteran.
7. 4/27 - Garage this time. Captain, CAFS, Rescue Specialist, Generalist. Was borderline the entire time, Rescued 5 but building collapsed. Rolled way way too many Flashpoints.
8. 4/27 - Brutal. (Imaging tech, Structural Engineer, Paramedic, Hazmat Tech) Lost 4 victims, hardly had any damage markers left, saved 0. Went from bad to disaster almost immediately. I seem to be getting worse at this. I think I need to go back to selecting characters instead of handling random. I think I know what I'm doing. Perhaps there is just too much random luck. If it goes bad early, you really can't ever catch up. The start makes all the difference. Onto the ships.
9. 4-27 - Loss. Wow, I suck. Rescued 1, Ship blew up. CAFS, Paramedic, Imaging Tech, Veteran.
10.4/27 - Great way to end the challenge. Won in the submarine with 10 saved, none lost. Total Control! (CAFS, Fire Captain, Generalist, Veteran)

Phantom Leader
1. 2/8 - 3 day campaign. Marines 72 - Day 1 - Okay, damaged target, 2VP took way too much stress.
2. 2/8 - Day 2 Easier mission. Horrible. -1 VP No chance of anything better than Poor. Need to try again.
3. 3/15 - New Campaign - Cuban Missile Crisis again, Long campaign this time. Day 1 - So-so. Damaged high point target, just not enough ground firepower to destroy target. Little stress and no damage to pilots, so that's good at least. 2VP
4. 3/15 - Starting to think it's not possible to destroy a target. This seems so much more difficult than Hornet Leader. Didn't come close to destroying target but did draw an event giving an extra vp. so 2VP. One pilot with a ton of stress. Will be out a long while.
5. 3/15 - Another disappointing mission. Damaged. 2VP 2 pilots with major stress including best one.
6. 3/15 Finally destroyed a target. All planes, but a good win finally. Only 2VP though. so 4 days, 8VP. Not great.
7. 3/16 - Still bad luck. Campaign seems cursed. This mission looked like it was going to go well then some atrocious rolls on a couple of bombs and it was another damaged instead of destroyed result. A pair of 5's and I would have destroyed it.
8. 3/16 when you think it can't get worse it does. My only plane carrying air to air weapons gets shot down. Planes follow throughout, take huge stress and damaged result again. I'll be lucky to end iup with acceptable result now. I did learn that I can leave the mission when I get to an approach area instead of the full 5 turns. That probably would have saved me some stress.
9. 3/16 - Finished on a 3 mission high. Did an easy shoot the planes down mission. Destroyed 2VP. Then a fantastic 5VP mission where all 3 of my bombs hit for max, destroying the target by more than 3. Guaranteed Acceptable result, but I need 4 to get to Good level.
10. 3/16 - Another successful mission to end with 20VP. A little luck, could have easily got to Good for the campaign. Although my mistake of not realizing I could leave from an approach area was offset by the fact, I didn't realize Aim-9 weapons were considered special in 1962. I had 13 SO points left, so it might not have been terrible and I counted them as special for last 3 missions. Oh well. live and learn. Was fun. Will do better next time. Onto the next game.

Shadows Of Brimstone (assuming it makes it)
1. 11/23/14 - Finally received the game, got the minis assembled and headed into the mine. Lili Von Schtupp and Jim, the Waco Kid went looking for Darkstone. Unfortunately, the came up just short in the final room. Awesome fun!
2. 11/23/14 - Victory this time in Mission #1 with Marshall Eriksen, Jesse James (Female Outlaw), and Frito the Bandido.
3. 11/23/14 - Scout, Lawman, Rancher and Nun show that all girl squad can get the job done. Cruised through the mines and found clues with barely a scratch.
4. 11/25/14 - Lili and the Waco kid went back into the mines looking for darkstone and revenge. Fast, easy success. Much better when you have all the rules down.
5. 11/25/14 - Lili and Waco go back in to clear the mine and make some money. Again, fairly quick due to lucky encounter token draws. Lili doesn't even have enough XP through two missions to level up. Surviving, but not thriving yet. Onto the band of 3 now
6. 11/26/14 - Marshall Eriksen, Jesse James (Female Outlaw), and Frito the Bandido headed back into the mines in Mission #2. Amazingly fast, finding the end on tile 2. Did end up with an epic threat added to the tile and managed to kill Goliath!
7. 11/26/14 - Took the last group back in. Almost lost the Lawman Beckett but she leveled up in time to clear her wounds. The group faced a massive ambush on the first tile due to a bad darkness roll (Double 4's I think).
8. 11/27/14 - Group of 4 women headed off to Figure out what was happening in the mine. Quick and easy
9. 11/27/14 - Same group mission 3. Funny how the game gets tougher when you get some of the rules right.
10. 11/27/14 - With turkey demolished, I decided to start over with a fresh party and go through all the missions instead of switching back and forth. Mission 1 completed. Went for the deepest with Saloon Girl, US Marshall and Bandida.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game
1. 1/11/14 - 1st Adventure of Hook Mountain massacre - No problem
2. 1/11/14 - 2nd Adventure of Hook Mountain massacre - No problem
3. 1/11/14 - 3rd Adventure of Hook Mountain massacre - Different kind of quest.
4. 1/11/14 - 4th Adventure of Hook Mountain massacre - No problem
5. 1/11/14 - 5th and last Adventure of Hook Mountain massacre - Came down to last card and we found the villain and won.
6. 6/26/14 - Now that I have all the packs, I decided to start over and I'll take 3 characters through from start to finish. Valeros, Seoni and Seelah. Brigadoon down. Almost everything was near the bottom.
7. 6/26/14 - Poison Pill scenario. Had better luck with things being at top. Rolled poorly to close, but still no problem. Highlight was Valeros picking up Flaming Axe and Seelah getting Icy Spear.
8. 6/26/14 - Finished beginning adventure path taking out Black Fang. Closed a couple of locations on first or second card. Black Fang escaped once, but still got him with lots of time to spare. Nothing good as a reward. Onto Pack 1.
9. 6/27/14 - Won first two scenarios of Pack 1.
10. 6/28/14 - Just cruising along, finished all of Pack 1. 3 More easy victories. Picked up nice stuff. Only one close call and had to sit Siena out of the action.

What a very nice idea, so I am going to participate and try to beat the challange.
Although I know it is going to be very hard. And then I mean VERY hard.
There was a time when I had very little games and played them often.
But as from the time I got really addicted to buying new games, I only play games 1 or 2 times.
Scrolling my collection I came up with 2 lists.
1 - games I really like to play more often and will be relative easy to play 10 times in a year (yeah I know, I don't like to play it the hard way)
2 - games of which I have a lot of expansions that are unplayed. So playing those games more often, might give these expansion a chance to get played also.

List 1:

Blueprints
Friday
Glass Road
Kashgar: Merchants of the Silk Road
Legends of Andor
Okiya
The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game
Rivals for Catan
Urbion
Völuspá

Back-ups
Dragonheart
Qin

List 2:

7 Wonders
Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small
Alhambra
Dominion
King of Tokyo
Quarriors!
Rattus
Revolver
Ticket to Ride
Zooloretto

Back-ups
Bohnanza
Kingdom Builder

I also made rober's H-indexgeeklist.
So maybe this list will change a bit to help increasing that as well.

Board Game: Morels

#1 - Morels - I'm giving this to my wife for Christmas. I'm hoping to get her playing more quick 2 player games.
2013 Plays: 0

1. Jan4 - First game. I beat my wife 57-20.
2. Mar23 - Showed the game to my dad. I got a narrow 50-47 win at the very end by using the cider.
3. Jul26 - Showed the game to Mike while we waited for my Dad to show up. I got a decisive victory.
4. Oct17 - Played a game with Mike at lunch. I won by nine points mainly due to 6 chanterelles cooked in cider.
5. Nov7 - Introduced the game to Darren during lunch. He took to the game quite well handing me my first loss.

Board Game: Lost Cities

#2 - Lost Cities - Same reason as above. I just got this right before Thanksgiving.
2013 Plays: 3

1. Feb11 - Finally got a 3round game in with the wife. Close game for first two rounds and then I got the victory in the third.
2. Feb22 - Showed the game to Mike at the end of Game Day. I got the win.
3. Feb26 - Quick game with Mike who had an unlucky 2nd round paving the way for my victory.
4. Mar1 - Quick game with Mike when we got back from Darren's. Another win for me.
5. Mar14 - 5 round game with my Dad. He had a bad first round and was never able to recover.
6. Mar23 - Quick 3 round game with my Dad. Suffered my first defeat ever at this game. I blame it on being a little sick.
7. Jul5 - Played a quick 2 round game after breaking in my 10th Anniversary Ticket to Ride. I won both rounds and the TTR game.
8. Sep13 - Dad came over and we ended up going 5 rounds. I only managed to win one round so Dad won the game by a considerable margin.
9.
10.

Board Game: Castaways

#3 - Castaways - I think this game is awesome and I'm really looking forward to playing it with other people as I've only done a couple solo so far
2013 Plays: 3

1. Jun7 - Finally got a "real" play of this game in. We started Game Day with this one, this time around, so we had 4 players. It was looking pretty grim for a while but then we had one person do a crazy long solo exploration to get us to the heart of the island. He got lost in the process and it took him forever to get back but eventually we signalled the rescue ship and everyone was back at camp so we won with only one card left in the event deck. Very fun game. It's a bit long but doesn't feel like it when you play it. Hopefully I can get it to the table again soon.
2. Oct11 - Played a 3 player game with Mike and his roommate. It came down to the very end with 2 chances to roll a 9 so we could return to camp on the last round and we couldn't do it. Defeated.

Board Game: Robot Turtles

#4 - Robot Turtles - My kickstarted copy is supposed to arrive today. I'm giving it to my 4 year old son for Christmas. I really think he's gonna like it.
2013 Plays: 4

1. Jan6 - 5th game but first with stone walls. My son likes saying
"LASER!"
2. Feb2 - Got a couple of quick games in before dinner. Steve really
3. Feb2 - likes this game its just hard to keep him focused on it.
4. Apr26 - Finally got another game in - first game with crates and he did a great job!
5. Aug31 - Finally got the boy to sit down and play a few games again.
6. Aug31 - I designed a route that he could go through two different ways and after he did it once, we went back and tried it the other way. I think we could get to the play 3 cards at a time stage with just a few more games.
7. Sep4 - Steve wanted to play again so I set up a quick game.
8. Sep4 - After that he wanted to play again so I set up a board with three possible routes. He took the route I thought he would first.
9. Sep4 - We had a little trouble trying the 2nd route because it was getting late and he was getting tired but we convinced him to stick with it and he eventually got it done. We didn't have time to play through the 3rd route but he did see it and told me exactly how to go through it so I was very proud of him for that.
10. Nov 27 - Finally got around to finishing this one off. Steve and I played a quick game after Thanksgiving dinner.

Board Game: Regatta

#5 - Regatta - Another Christmas present for my son.
2013 Plays: 2

1. Jan18 - 4 player game that my son "won"
2. Aug31 - Steve and I played just the two of us and he won. I didn't have to use quotes this time. It was a legitimate win.
3. Sep29 - Steve was sick last night so I stayed home with him today (and of course he was fine all day) and we got a long game of this which he eventually won by one turn.
4. Oct11 - Played a quick game with Steve while Kari got her haircut. I won by 1 card play in a close match.
5. Nov4 - The wife was out at a show so Steve and I got another play in. I got a lucky card draw on my last turn to barely eek out a win.

Board Game: Sentinels of the Multiverse

#6 - Sentinels of the Multiverse - A game my wife is not into but I love. I'm hoping to get it to the table more with my new found local gaming buddy.
2013 Plays: 6

1. I decided to give the Liberation campaign a solo attempt. Took Legacy, Bunker and Wraith up against the Baron. I had him down to 11 HP with Wraith poised to unleash 12 damage by destroying all her equipment. That's when the Baron drew the card that does three lightning plus 1 for each equipment and ongoing out. I tossed it all to stay alive and eventually the monorail took him down to 3HP before he finally took out all three of my heroes. I love this game but why do I have to suck at it?
2. May25 - Solo Victory against the Baron with Legacy, Tempest and Absolute Zero as part of the SotM Monthly Challenge.
3. May29 - Solo Defeat against Omnitron with Fanatic, Tachyon and Bunker as part of the SotM Monthly Challenge.
4. May31 - Extremely narrow solo victory against Omnitron in the Ruins of Atlantis with Bunker, Tachyon and Fanatic as part of the SotM Monthly Challenge.
5. Jun1 - Crushing solo defeat against Citizen Dawn in Insula Primalis with Bunker, Haka and Visionary as part of the SotM Monthly Challenge.
6. Jun8 - Tried against Dawn again and lost again.
7. Jun16 - Solo Victory against Grand Warlord Voss at the Wagner Mars Base with Legacy, Tempest and Ra as part of the SotM Monthly Challenge.
8. Jun23 - Epically bad Solo defeat against the Matriarch in Megalopolis with Tachyon, Absolute Zero and Fanatic as part of the 2nd SotM Monthly Challenge.
9. Jun29 - Quick Solo defeat against the Chairman in the Pike Industrial Complex with Ex-Patriette, Mr. Fixer and the Wraith as part of the 2nd SotM Monthly Challenge.
10. Jul20 - Solo Victory against Plague Rat in Insula Primalis with Bunker, Tempest and Ra as part of the 2nd SotM Monthly Challenge.

Board Game: Torres

#7 - Torres - I recently picked this game up and I love it!
2013 Plays: 2

1. Jan11 - First 3player game with my wife and father.
2. Feb15 - 2 player game with Darren. I got the win so 2 out of 3 for
today's gaming meetup.
3. Feb22 - Showed the game to Mike who got the win in a very high scoring, cutthroat match.
4. Sep6 - 3 player game with my dad and wife. My wife had a couple of great moves using the action cards that shut both me and my dad out from making our castles larger giving her an easy victory.
5. Nov7 - Took the game to Darren's house for a game with him and Mike. Mike and I were battling it out pretty hardcore and I ended up using an action card for 25 points during my last move and ended up winning by 27. Darren on the other hand is officially never playing this game again (or so he says).

Board Game: Lords of Waterdeep

#8 - Lords of Waterdeep - Another one I'm hoping to play with my new buddy.
2013 Plays: 1

1. Jan11 - First game with Corruption expansion. Got the lord that gives
you points for each corruption and totally crushed it.
2. Feb15 - First game with Undermountain expansion. Completed one of the
quests worth 40 points. I prefer this module to the Skullport
expansion. I got the win.
3. Feb22 - Super stoked to get a four player game of this at Game Day. So much fun! I love this game and not just because I won.
4. Mar1 - 3 player with Mike and Darren. Suffered a narrow defeat in a long version with the Undermountain expansion.
5. Mar29 - Darren let me borrow this so I could show it to my dad. I ended up winning 163-144. Not bad for Dad's first game.
6. Apr6 - Had to reschedule Tabletop Day to Sunday but got a play of this in with the Skullport module. I was able to get rid of all my corruption by game end and got the win.
7. Jul3 - Introduced Dad to the Undermountain module and handily crushed him thanks to the combo of Sleeper Agent in Skullport and Study in the Librarium.
8. Aug23 - Game Day - 3 player game with Mike and Chris to show Chris the Skullport module and corruption mechanic. I won this game pretty handily as well. Now we can finally play a game with both modules at a future Game Day. This play also brings me to 50% completed. I'm way behind schedule now.

Board Game: Summoner Wars: Master Set

#9 - Summoner Wars - Really hoping to play this one. I've tried a few games on iOS but my new buddy owns it and I'd really like to play this one a lot.
2013 Plays: 0

1. Feb15 - First game of Summoner Wars - My Shadow Elves vs Darren's
Deep Dwarves. Down to the wire with both Summoners at 1 hit
point but I ultimately lost.
2. Mar29 - I got the win as the Mountain Vargoth against Darren's Benders.
3. Apr26 - Got another play in. My Sand Goblins against Darren's Shadow Elves. I thought I was doing pretty good till Darren was able to summon his Hydrake and I got my summoner cornered. Dice hate me.
4. Oct10 - Darren rolled very poorly in the beginning of the game making an easy victory for my Cloaks over his Filth.
5. Oct10 - In the second game I had a hard time against his Fallen Kingdom because I couldn't get any magic because of the skeleton archers. He ended up getting a champion out early and cheaply and continually healing him. It was a good game but I don't think my Swamp Orcs ever had a chance.
6. Oct24 - Did a little research on the Swamp Orcs so I thought I'd give them another go. I did much better with them this time and got the win against Darren's Fallen Kingdom.
7. Nov1 - Darren chose the Cloaks so I chose the Benders. Tight game but I got the win in the end.
8. Nov1 - Played a couple of other games then came back to play this again. This time it was my Shadow Elves against his Sand Goblins and I got another win.
9.
10.

Board Game: Kingsburg

#10 - Kingsburg - Just got myself a copy of this and I'm really hoping my family likes it as much as I'm hoping to.
2013 Plays: 1

1. Jan4 - 2nd game but first as a 2 player. My dad won by 6 but I love this game!
2. Jan6 - 2player game with my buddy Mike. He really liked it, as I suspected he would. Finally got my first win: 46-44.
3. Jan11 - 2player game with Darren after playing Lords of Waterdeep
4. Jan11 - Played a 2nd game - first game with all expansion modules.
5. Jan17 - 1st expansion game with my dad who beat me by three points due to his governor ability
6. Feb7 - My dad handily beat me yet again. Four straight wins for him.
7. Feb9 - My buddy Mike came over and we played all the expansion modules. His manor gave him double points for the last battle bringing the game to a draw.
8. Feb22 - This is the game I was most looking forward to playing at Game Day since I had mostly played it as a 2 player game. I got the Embassy early on, giving me a victory point after every production season and I leveraged that into a win.
9. Mar8 - Dad had a pretty crushing loss in the year 3 battle allowing me to finally get my first win in five games against him.
10. Mar14 - Dad and I ended up with the other's governor from last time but I ended up never using its power. Dad lost the final battle losing his Church to allow me a 6 point win.

EDIT:
Backups just in case

Board Game: Jamaica

Jamaica - Surprise Christmas gift so didn't make list the first time. This game is gorgeous and I would love to play it 10 times this year.
2013 Plays: 1

1. Mar1 - 3 player game with Mike and Darren. Narrow win since all my holds we're full of cash.

Board Game: Forbidden Desert

Forbidden Desert - This would be a Castaways backup. I would rather play castaways more but I think, due to game length, that the people I play with would rather play this. We'll see.
2013 Plays: 1

1. Jan1 - 2 player with my dad on the novice level. Easy win since we snatched up ALL of the equipment cards.
2. Jun7 - One person left Game Day early so the three of us played a game of this on Novice and lost VERY quickly.
3. Jun7 - So we tried again and this time we won. This is a nice light game that I can see working with a lot of groups and I'm glad I have it in my collection.
4. Nov15 - Got a quick game in with Steve and Kari before Steve went to bed. We won on the Novice level in Kari's first game.

55. Board Game: Urbion [Average Rating:6.89 Overall Rank:2533]
Board Game: Urbion
A great idea for a challenge since I really need to stop buying games and play more. I sometimes have a hard time getting other players to the table though so I'm joining the challenge with a bunch of solo games, light games and known favorites.

I'm adding cribbage because I will join my local legion as an excuse to get out on Monday nights. Who knows maybe I will find or convert some gamers there.

My 2013 plays are in brackets.

Edit: Last minute updates to take into account Christmas gifts. I'm making this more about solo games and kicking out Agricola and Battleline for now. Hopefully they will return in a second entry after this one is complete.

Solo Games
01. Urbion (12) - Completed May 26th

02. Onirim (1)

03. Friday (3)

04. Elder Sign (1)

05. Mage Knight (0)

06. Race for the Galaxy (with Gathering Storm) (0)

08. Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar (1)

I went ahead and made a Geeklist for these 10 games so I don't clutter up this list too badly when I ramble on about plays and such.

Alright, let's try this. I'm not going to make a vow to play every game in my collection like I did last year, because I just kept adding to our collection. So this time we'll go about it this way and try to get quality repeated plays in of games that are already in our collection. May have to make adjustments before the deadline, but we'll see.

From gallery of Vacabck

Terra Mystica

Kingdom Builder

Letters from Whitechapel

Finca

Nations

Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game

-We finally finished 10 plays of one game and yes, this one is staying in our collection and yes I added the Fantastic 4 to our box and yes we can't wait for the next expansion to get here. Look for some kind of review in the next week or so.

Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game

Ginkgopolis

Ticket to Ride(all variations that we have)

Firenze

Alternates(These will become my 5 games 5 times I have a feeling):

From gallery of Vacabck

Long Shot

Quarriors!-At the insistence of my daughter, this one has been added to the list.

Russian Railroads(this one should get A LOT more plays than 5)

Seasons

Galaxy Trucker: Anniversary Edition(didn't go over as well with my daughter as I thought it would, she agreed to play some more, but I am doubting it gets back to the table as much as I would want it to)

Also adding my, "PLAY AT LEAST ONCE WITH THE FULL COMPLIMENT OF PLAYERS!!" game:

From gallery of Vacabck

A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (Second Edition)

Now with improved Starability!

edit: Went ahead and removed Ra for the time being, it'll get played this year, but it was a risk to get 10 anyway since we have never played it. I think that Nations should be given a bit of attention this coming year after receiving it.

Also, my daughter has been thinking about this list and she may change a couple games as well.

Here is my review of Legendary after 10 plays

Since I mostly play with kids and they choose what hits the table I have a number of games that don't get used often enough .. And just so I can't use the lack of 'suitable opponents' as an excuse, I've purposely chosen games that can also be played solo - either with official solo-rules or user-made variants found here on the geek ..

This is a lot harder than I originally thought!

*Added Oct 6th* ---- as much as I wanted to fulfill the original (hardcore) requirements of the challenge some of the games just aren't hitting the table, and since there's no fun in forcing myself to play something I'm not in the mood for I've decided to just go ahead and switch these out for games that I AM wanting to play .. Will notify BK of this as requested ..

Arkham Horror [completed Sept 4]

Blue Moon City

Carcassonne [completed April 27]

Garden Dice
Elder Sign [Completed Oct 22]

K2 [Completed Set 29]

Last Night on Earth [completed Aug 16]

Pandemic [Completed July 2nd]

Reef Encounter
Under Shadow of the Dragon

Small World [Completed July 27th]

Starship Catan [Completed Nov 26]

I'm so new to this but I do hope to have some fun playing some games many times in 2014. I'm just aiming to have fun with my friends while focusing on the games I have.

1. Trains

1. Jan. 3: End with my friend having 40 points, with me getting 39 points. Victory so close.
2. Aug. 2nd - 4 player game to end the night, myself won the game with 42 points, Bo with 38 points, Sinjin with 30 points and Reanna hitting 26 points. Also, this marks the very first time I won a deck-building game ever (Take that Dominion, DC Deck Building Game, Marvel Legendary and Resident Evil!!!)

2. DC Comics Deck-Building Game

1. Aug 3rd - Finally hit the game table today with a short game, I took the lead early on but those weakness cards get to you, Bo ended up winning 45 to my 24 (If only I had Bizarro in my deck, maybe I would've stood a chance)
2. Aug 9th - The game was a complete success as Valerie (our newest member of the gaming group) joined us and somehow beat us with Wonder Woman. Even Batman, Superman and Aquaman couldn't stop her.

3. Suburbia

1. Feb 14th - First solo game to learn the rules for future gaming group sessions, ended with 67 points, pretty good for a first game.
2. Feb 15th - First three player game, with my friend Bo getting 102 points, myself with 71 points and my girlfriend Jennifer gaining just 65 points, great success and I think everyone likes the game.
3. Aug 9th - The four player game that no one wants to remember. Only because we had two players seat out and watch to see if they can learn something. I won with 75, Bo with 70, Chase with 60 and Sinjin with 45.
4. Aug 9th - Even with Sinjin helping his girlfriend, we still had some issues but it ran smoothly for the new players. Chase won with 80, me with 60, Reanna with 50 and Valerie with 45.

4. Compounded

1. Feb 15th - First three player game, Jennifer winning with 65 points, Bo with 64 points and me, well, 25 points ain't so bad really.
2. Aug 3rd - A full game of surprises with me ending up with 62 points vs. Bo's 55 points, it got close to the end (and I do need a new dice bag)

5. Caverna: The Cave Farmers

1. Jan. 10th - First time I had a 5-player game and it was a huge success and couldn't be happier. Score was 67, 66, 63, 53 and 47 and a lot of rave reviews, awesome!
2. Jan 13th - First Solo game I had, most remember by all the dang pumpkins I gathered. I scored a 62, which is nice but I'm far away from reaching that magical 100. Did I mention pumpkins?
3. Jan 15 - Solo game, my poor donkey's muzzle fell off but I laughed, ended with a 79
4. Jan 17th - First 3-Player game, with my friend pulling a nice 97 for only his second game, pretty great game all around.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

6. Pandemic

1. Aug 3rd - The last game of the night and ended with the biggest loss to me and my friend. That goes to show you, never trust the red disease named Red Light District.
2. Aug 9th - First game of the night and it went horrible. I never seen such a mess from the humans as I thought but man, I was wrong.
3. Aug 9th - We decided to pick up and try one more time before we decided to move on to a different game, barely giving us the win. Only barely.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

7. Takenoko

1. Jan 3 - Game resulted with the panda being used less and all gardener cards disappeared.
2. Jan 24th - Three Player game resulted in my first ever win in Takenoko, resulting in 43 points for me and couldn't be happier!
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

8. Elder Sign (with Unseen Forces Expansion)

1. Jan 24th - 3-Player game, we were four doom tokens away from losing but we got the victory in the end.
2. Aug 2nd - As me and my friend Bo waited for the others, we decided to give it a shot with the two of us against the mighty Cthulhu. Sadly, we lost against the mighty Cthulhu.
3. Aug 9th - 6 players??? Am I insane? Actually, yes, yes I was as we won the game with ease with six players. However, if I may add, a lower number then six is just fine, after that it could become either easy, or hard.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

9. Würfel Bohnanza

1. Aug 2nd (Four times the game was played on the same night) - On the first game ever, I won 13 to my friend's 12. This was the first time we ever played the game and so far, that was a success
2. On the next play, my friend beat me 13 to 5, one of my lowest point totals of the night
3. My friend Bo won with 13, Chase with 12, Sinjin and Reanna with 8 and myself with 7
4. Bo once again won the game with 13, Chase with 9, Sinjin with 6 and me and Reanna with 5.
5. Aug 9th - Our modified 6 player game ended with Bo at 13, Chase at 9, me and Valerie with 8, Reanna with 6 and Sinjin with 4 (he kept screaming that there's not enough red beans).
6. Aug 9th - Our second game faired better for me but still lost: Bo at 13, Chase at 8, myself with 10, Valerie and Reanna tied with 7 and Sinjin rounded the last place spot with 6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

10. Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age

1. Jan. 10th - This resulted in a big success with my two friends, I got 24 points, my friend Bo with 35 points and my friend Chase with 1 point. Yeah, he didn't like feeding his people much.
2. Jan 17th - This game is where pestilence was an issue for everyone but the dice were wither skulls or coins and feeding cities was a pain.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Bonus Games: In this little section, I'll add any games I've played that just didn't make the cut due to the fact that we played the games late in the year. So, it can be counted but we'll see.

Ok, I'm in!

I've picked games that haven't had a lot of play time.

I might modify this, depending on what my secret santa gets me. There's a package at home right now that might from him/her but I can't open it until Christmas day. Or it could be something from kickstarter...

1. meepleRelic Expedition (unplayed)

2. meepleEuphoria: Build a Better Dystopia (played three times)

3. meepleGuillotine (played twice, thanks very much to my secret santa!)

4. meepleEight-Minute Empire: Legends (unplayed)

5. meepleStone Age (played three times)

6. meepleSuburbia (played once, do not own (yet!))

7. A Study in Emerald (unplayed, not yet arrived)
Swapping this out in favour of King of Tokyo.

8. meepleViticulture (played once)

9. meeplePandemic (played many times)

This is an excuse to play the expansions (Pandemic: On the Brink, Pandemic: In the Lab) and to up the difficulty of the base game by playing with additional epidemic cards.

10. meepleSeasons (do not own, unplayed)

11. meepleKing of Tokyo (alternate game, do not own, played once)

12. Challenge game: Firefly: The Game (unplayed)

I'll probably record plays on my geeklist, but add the odd status update here.

I've just reorganised the games cupboard to put these games right in the middle, so they'll be seen as soon as I look at it.

Ok, one game down! Started just after midnight

19 Jan, games day! I played eleven games in total, with five of them contributing to this list. I'm pleased with my progress so far, well on track with 11 games played in 20 days. I'll need to work up a bit of slack though, given the trip away I'm planning later in the year.

06 Feb, I'm a quarter of the way through! That's a good start to the year. I'm comfortable predicting that Viticulture will be the first game to reach 10 plays, with Guillotine following in close succession.

19 Feb, Viticulture: first ten complete! meeple

02 Mar, I've passed 33%!

21 Apr, 37%! I'm expecting this to jump this week too, since I'll be dedicating some time (with Debra) to work on our challenges.

24 Apr, I miscounted - I'm at 44%!

26 Apr, I hit ten plays for Pandemic and Guillotine

21 June, A Gathering of Meeples, a local games day. Had a ball and got a bunch of plays in.
I am removing A Study in Emerald (no. 7) from my 10x10 and replacing it with my alternate game, King of Tokyo (no. 11). I haven't played a single game of ASIE yet and honestly, I think I will struggle to get in 10 games of this one.

23 July, completed 10 (actually 11) plays of King of Tokyo.

29 September,I'm at 72% after Concentric. A little behind but possible to make up, if I work hard...

03 October, a semi-spontaneous games evening with Debra.

05 October, games day I focused on my 10x10 list and got 5 games done - one each of Relic Expedition, Stone Age and Suburbia and two of Seasons. I think that means I'm back on track.

16 October, a two player game of Relic Expedition. I won!

28 October, a two player game of Relic Expedition. I did not win. A game of Seasons that I did win!

06 November, a two player game of Relic Expedition with the missions expansion (I won!) and a three player game of Stone Age online (I did not win).

08 November, a four player game of Suburbia and a three player game of Seasons (finished the ten!). I am on track to complete the challenge by the end of the year.

09 November, a three player game online.

12 November, a two player game. We tied on points and reputation, Danny won based on income.

15 November, a three player game at Kappy's tea and coffee house.

16 November, only six games to go!

22 November, a three player game of Pandemic with In the Lab and five epidemic cards. Humanity died again.

25 November, three player game of Stone Age online. I lost, but that finished my ten! Five games to go...

27 November, finished EME:L!! Only 4 games to go

30 November, only one game each of Relic Expedition and Suburbia to go!

06 December, one game of Relic Expedition. ONE GAME REMAINING!!!

13 December, final game of Suburbia! My 10x10 list is 100% complete.

I love this idea! My gaming group is starting to think I like to buy games more than I like to play them. I've definitely been subscribing to the cult of the new and need to get more plays in for just about all of my games. Here is my tentative list:

1.) Le Havre

2.) Suburbia

3.) Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island

4.) Zombicide

5.) Race for the Galaxy

6.) Bruges

7.) The Manhattan Project

8.) Guildhall

9.) Carson City

10.) Steam Park

This is a great idea. I want to play the games I've had for years but only played a few times, sometimes only once. I've got to get my money's worth out of these games.

Fresco
1 5/11/14 - 2P L 72-90 A relearning game and only my second play ever. I remember getting beat badly the first time too. Brings back memories.
2 5/18/14 - 2P W 68-65 First win thanks to a costly mistake in allocating workers in the final round by my opponent.
3 5/24/14 - 2P L 120-123 We tried the 3 expansions for the first time and liked the added complexity.
4 8/31/14 - 2P W 118-115 A bit of a relearning game but we still used all three expansions. We will probably never play without them from now on.
5 9/1/14 - 2P W 121-109 A solid victory.
6 9/6/14 - 2P L 110-113 A bit of an askerisk on this one due to messing up the scoring in the final round but we didn't feel like trying to backtrack the round and redo everything.
7 9/6/14 - 2P L 129-130 A very crazy, swingy game. And I think I forgot to add a bishop bonus a couple times but I didn't think it would matter because I was so far ahead. It mattered.
8 9/7/14 - 2P L 121-125 I would have won if only she didn't take the last bishop's favor for coins with Leonardo. So close.
9 9/7/14 - 2P W 133-126 I finally got one after three loses in a row.
10 9/7/14 - 2P L 108-109 We actually tied but since she went last she choose to moved ahead one. That was a fitting end to playing this game seven times in one week. It just has such a long setup time that we decided to leave it up on the kitchen table until we finished all the games.

Carson City
1 2/9/14 - 2P L 49-51 Definitely a re-learning game as we got some of the rules wrong.
2 2/9/14 - 2P L 49-51 Got the rules right this time and I still lost by the exact same score. How does that happen?
3 4/26/14 - 2P L 51-52 So close. It came down to a duel for a saloon that lost by one point. I even had the tie breaker in case of a tie. So close.
4 4/27/14 - 2P W 62-54 Finally won one. It helped that my wife miscounted her funds during the first round and wasted a worker.
5 6/13/14 - 2P L 58-72 I could tell by the end of the third round things had gotten out of hand.
6 8/9/14 - 2P L 55-44 I really like this game but apparently I am not great at it. Oh well, I have fun anyway.
7 8/10/14 - 2P W 64-51 I got a commanding win thanks to some sly role selection and money management. Watch out, someone is getting better.
8 10/5/14 - 2P W 54-50 Closer than I thought it would be.
9 10/5/14 - 2P L 59-60 I have never seen the board so full in a two player game. We did a lot a building and it came down to she had built one more building than me.
10 10/18/14 - 3P L 41-52-55 Taught this to a newbie and then he promptly beat us.

Tikal
1 1/19/14 - 2P W 157-153 Due to some AP issues this game went 2+ hours long. The wife was not happy with this game. I might have to complete these plays with the app.
2 4/26/14 - 4P W 147-88-86-74 online. Looks like I might have to play more difficult AI opponents next time.
3 5/4/14 - 3P W 160-118-72 online.
4 5/15/14 - 4P W 133-101-85-57 online on a plane.
5 5/25/14 - 3P W 159-123-103
6 5/30/14 - 3P W 153-103-102
7 6/7/14 - 3P W 138-109-108 online with a king level opponent.
8 6/22/14 - 3P W 180-119-102 Getting most of the treasures strategy is too much to handle for AI.
9 7/6/14 - 4P W 117-91-90-82 Against 3 king level opponents which was also an achievement.
10 7/13/14 - 4P W 115-105-103-100 This one was close. I was losing every round but pulled out the victory in the end. Looks like this game will be hitting the trading block since my wife refused to play after the first game.

Metropolys
1 2/2/14 - 2P L 39-40 Heartbreaker
2 2/2/14 - 2P W 41-33
3 2/22/14 - 2P L 31-44 I lost my brain at the end. Had the win and gave it away.
4 6/6/14 - 2P L 25-44 Another beat down. She tricked me near the end and left me with 5 unused buildings and took all three bonuses for tallest building per district.
5 6/6/14 - 2P L 29-33 I was careful not to be tricked this time but still couldn't pull out a victory.
6 7/11/14 - 2P W 42-27 A solid victory. Thought it may have been a fluke considering my win/loss record before this.
7 7/11/14 - 2P W 38-14 She made a mistake half way through and I was able to end the game with her having 6 unused buildings. I'll take the win though.
8 9/27/14 - 2P L 23-37 I have lots of excuses but I'm too tired to list them.
9 9/28/14 - 2P W 29-21 A solid victory. Almost makes up for yesterday.
10 9/28/14 - 2P L 24-40 Gave the game away with a terrible last move. I hate when that happens.

Vikings
1 2/1/14 - 2P W 85-56
2 2/1/14 - 2P W 74-58 We forgot to put the used boats men from first game back into bag until the fourth round. Oops. I'm still counting it because wins are so rare for me.
3 2/7/14 - 2P L 30-82 I don't want to talk about it.
4 3/2/14 - 2P L 78-78 I thought I was going lose big but it ended up being tied. I still lost the tiebreaker by one coin but I consider it a moral victory.
5 3/29/14 - 2P L 68-102 It was close until bonus scoring and fishermen, then it wasn't so close.
6 3/29/14 - 2P W 91-71 t30:39. I had to try for revenge and I got it. We had to go fast so I timed it.
7 4/26/14 - 2P W 91-82 I was losing the whole game but got all the bonus points at the end of the game.
8 5/30/14 - 2P W 102-68 Just noticed this was the same score from a game two months ago except I was on the losing end. Funny how things like that happen.
9 5/31/14 - 2P W 83-83 Won the tie breaker by 2 coins.
10 6/20/14 - 4P W 64-57-33-28 Taught this to three new players. I felt bad for winning but they seemed to like it anyway. I kept telling them it was a learning game. Almost got them to play again but it was too late.

7 Wonders
1 1/26/14 - 2P L 42-54
2 1/26/14 - 2P W 45-29
3 2/18/14 - 2P W 54-47 I am liking this game more and more each time I play it.
4 3/15/14 - 2P W 46-43 Surprised by how close this was because I thought I was dominating.
5 3/15/14 - 2P L 49-44 Had 10 blue cards but all my others areas added up to -2 points. #toospecialized
6 5/4/14 - 2P L 41-55 I had no military and couldn't get enough science to make up for it.
7 5/4/14 - 2P L 64-69 Tried the Leaders expansion for the first time. I liked it a lot. Adds some more strategy to the game.
8 7/4/14 - 2P W 56-43 I had seven blue cards which proved too much for my opponent.
9 9/8/14 - 2P L 47-57 I felt pretty good about my chances going into final scoring and lost by 10 points.
10 9/8/14 - 2P W 49-46 I thought I was going to lose for sure before final scoring. The free city had 46 points.

Pergamon
1 1/13/14 - 2P L 27-32
2 1/28/14 - 2P L 27-43
3 4/6/14 - 2P L 20-31 t47:58
4 5/3/14 - 2P L 27-34 I thought I had my first win until my wife found another stack of points she didn't see when she first counted her points.
5 5/3/14 - 2P W 32-26 I did it! My first win! It helped that she didn't get any money the second to the last round and when she got 7 dollars on the last round I bought only gallery that would have allowed her to complete an exhibit. She thought I was pretty rude at the end but I had to get my first win. She concedes the she would have done the same thing.
6 5/25/14 - 2P W 33-20 t44
7 5/25/14 - 2P W 37-35 t40 My first exhibit was a 20 point beast that pretty much carried me the entire game because of its old finds giving me the bonuses throughout the rounds.
8 8/16/14 - 2P L 31-38 I saved my money too long trying to put out a huge exhibit but it wasn't huge enough to win.
9 8/17/14 - 2P L 30-45 About half through my wife gambled and it paid off big time. She got eight coins in one round. It was all down hill from there.
10 8/17/14 - 2P L 20-40 Good thing this is number ten because I keep getting worse.

Cleopatra and the Society of Architects
1 3/9/14 - 3P W 43-39 Barely missed being eaten by the croc by one corruption, otherwise my wife would have won with 59 points.
2 3/23/14 - 2P W 69-69 Won by two less corruption.
3 4/19/14 - 2P W 65-63 It was quick and dirty, under 30 minutes and I was slightly more corrupt, but I'll take the win.
4 6/8/14 - 2P L 49-60 A super quick game that did not go my way.
5 6/8/14 - 2P L 76-85 This went much longer but with the same result. I got greedy at the end collecting cards for a big scoring build and then she ended the game before I had the chance.
6 8/23/14 - 2P L 67-87 I had 5 more corruption but I had lost even before taking points off for corruption. The score was a lot closer though.
7 8/24/14 - 2P L 65-78 I have apparently forgot how to play this.
8 8/24/14 - 2P L 72-77 At least this time I was winning until we counted corruption.
9 10/11/14 - 4P L 51-54-36-67(most corrupt) Got to teach a couple of new players. They seemed to really like it. I hate to win when teaching new players so yay for second.
10 10/27/14 - 2P L 69-77 The final game of the challenge didn't go my way due to my opponent not being as corrupt as I thought she was.

Jamaica
1 1/18/14 - 2P L 27-33
2 1/18/14 - 2P L 31-36
3 2/17/14 - 2P W 30-21
4 2/17/14 - 2P W 39-26
5 4/6/14 - 2P W 49-20 t30:18 I had 3 to 0 treasures and had the pirate take all the other treasures.
6 4/12/14 - 3P W 36-30-14 Played this with my brother who just got back from a religious mission in Jamaica. Before I knew if it was a good game or not I bought it just because of him. Turns out it is an excellent game which he said he quite enjoyed even though the shape of the island on the board is not correct he says. He was killing us all game but somehow in the end I snuck past him for the victory.
7 4/12/14 - 3P L 32-23-0 My wife won this one and my brother ended up with 0 points. Darn it. He still likes it.
8 6/14/14 - 2P L 34-35 I was doing so well but most of the treasure I got was cursed.
9 6/15/14 - 2P L 29-46 Just an overall beat down from beginning to end. A lot of battles in this one.
10 6/15/14 - 2P W 44-26 Finally ended the losing streak with a solid victory thanks to no cursed treasure. Kind of sad that this completes the challenge for this game.

The Adventurers: The Temple of Chac
1 1/12/14 - 2P W opponent died by boulder.
2 1/12/14 - 2P L - tied @ 12 but lost the tie breaker.
3 1/12/14 - 2P L 19-23
4 5/25/14 - 3P L 21-19-9 I fell into the lava and had to bring in my reserve.
5 5/25/14 - 3P W 17-14-crushed My wife was crushed one space away from the exit. She would have won otherwise.
6 5/25/14 - 2P L Both of us were crushed on the same space three spaces away from the exit.
7 5/25/14 - 2P L 6-12 The boulder came quick, no time to pick up any treasure.
8 8/24/14 - 2P W 19-0 My wife's first character died by boulder and her second character died by waterfall.
9 8/25/14 - 3P W 23-15-13 This was against my kids. It went well because no one died.
10 8/25/14 - 2P W 34-29 This was against my wife. It also went well because no one died. The boulder was really slow so we both had lots of treasure.

In most years I play at least 10 games 10 times anyway, but this year I tried to make it my mission to play all my 10 rated games 10 times each. I'd like to continue that next year. As I have 30 10 rated games I don't expect to manage it for EVERY game, but I'd like to get as close as possible!

10 rated games (bolded games completed):
7 Wonders, Agricola, Ascension, Ave Caesar, Boggle, Boku, Bucket King, Burn Rate, Carcassonne, The City, Dominion, Factory Fun, Fauna, Filthy Rich, Flash Point Fire Rescue, Innovation, King of Tokyo, Loopin' Louie, Lost Cities, Magic the Gathering, Outpost, Power Grid, Puerto Rico, Qwixx, Race for the Galaxy, Rage, RoboRally, Schotten-Totten, Showmanager, Take it Easy, Through the Ages, Tichu, UNO, Vegas Showdown

The 10 I think will be hardest, that I'll use for this challenge:

Ave Caesar:
Boggle:

Carcassonne:
Fauna:
Filthy Rich:
Power Grid:
Puerto Rico:
RoboRally:
Showmanager:
Uno:

Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia - This game seems so open-ended that I think it would take about a handful of plays before it starts to reveal itself. My copy should arrive this by the end of this month. Can't wait!
0

New Amsterdam - The only time I've played this (so far) the first place winner scored 118pts. I got 12. Which tells me one thing, I need to understand this game. Thankfully, I enjoyed my play, which tells you how awesome I think the game is.
0

Francis Drake - Just a rip-roaring good time in the high seas. I can't see myself getting tired of this one anytime soon.
0

Canterbury - An excellent tile-laying, area-majority game. With beautiful components, and smooth game play, this one practically beckons you to play it a bunch of times.
0

Mars Needs Mechanics - This is a super-elegant design. Market manipulation distilled with a pinch of set-collecting makes this retro-artwork hidden gem an amazing game. And it never takes more than 45 minutes with rules explanation!
0

Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small - I need at least 10 plays of this if for no other reason than to explore and enjoy the possibilities with all the expansion building tiles. With some nice heavier games, I need to balance it out with some lighter ones, like Mars Needs Mechanics, and Agricola: ACBaS
0

Tammany Hall - My choice for a heavy "player interaction" game. This one intrigues me and I just simply want to play it more to enjoy and understand it better.
0

Village - My "thematic" euro, I love the mechanics in this one. Between the base game and the expansion, this should hold me over for at least 10 plays.
0

Hansa Teutonica - My dry-as-a-bone "cube-pusher", this is another game that is so open-ended it needs to be more thoroughly explored properly by me.
0

Decktet - While not so much a game as a game system, this elegant deck of cards is an amazing well of innovation and ingenuity. For this, I will play/explore 10 different games for the Decktet. Should be easy enough.
