About me
I grew up with video games, but about 2 years ago I started playing boardgames and now I’m hooked. I have completely given up videogames and really enjoy the social aspect of playing boardgames. I can enjoy all kinds of games (light and heavy, euro and ameritrash, solitaire and party games…) as long as they’re fun. Also I’d like to add my first language is Dutch and technically my second is French, so my English isn’t perfect. I understand everything, but talking and writing is harder than expected. I'm hoping it will improve doing these reviews though.

The name
There isn’t much of a story behind this. I had to come up with a name, I own a Siberian husky and ‘husky’ is also an adjective meaning ‘big and strong; burly’, so there you go. I'm not good at creative stuff.

The philosophy
I will try to keep my reviews short and to the point, but I also want to give a good feel of how a game plays and unfortunately this requires explaining most of the rules. Don’t expect a full rules explanation though, but a good overview of the basics. Also: I'm a gamer on a tight budet, which means I buy all my games used or in promo-actions, so unfortunately I won't review games that have just been released.

Weight
Every review I will be assigning every game a certain weight ranging from 1 to 5. Now there is some ambiguation about this on the Geek. For starters: people are afraid to call a game 'heavy'. When searching for games with a weight between 4.5 and 5 there are only 3 games in the top 1000. I also sometimes see the opposite: family games being called medium weight, while I consider them lighter. So for my reviews I will be using my own scale:

1: light – dexterity, filler, party and light family games (like Jenga, Dixit and Tsuro)
2: light/medium – family games (like Alhambra and Ticket to Ride: Europe)
3: medium – light tactical games (like Cyclades and Rialto)
4: medium/heavy – slightly more complex and longer games (like Castles of Burgundy)
5: heavy – long and complex games (like Terra Mystica and Twilight Imperium)

This short grouping isn’t perfect, but it should suffice as a quick reference. Furthermore I’d like to add determinating weight isn’t always easy and not an exact science. I look at amount of rules, playing time, depth, complexity, luck... When in doubt, a good indicator to me is: what if some non-boardgamers and some experienced players would play the game for the first time together? In a light game the non-gamers might just as well win, in a heavy game they will get completely slaughtered.
