Usually I would wait until the end of December too do this but I figure I don't plan on playing any new games this year. So, on the year I've played 168 new games, I liked a lot of them, but also disliked a lot of them. Going through my list there was a lot of games I forgot I played this year, some that were as early as new years day. Anyways, here's a list based on another list that show what my Top 10 New To Me Games Of 2013 are.

This year got me reintroduced too the Euro, over 2012 my interest in Euros had started to wain, this year I got introduced too a designer named Feld, an abstract territory building game, and an actual great licensed game. It's been a great year for me in gaming.

At the start of my list I have games I haven't tried yet but will soon but might be good enough too crack my top 10 and that I might be playing soon. I ranked my games starting from 10 to 1, with honorable mentions starting ahead of my games I haven't played yet, and at the end are my wife's top ten games, she's not a gamer but she indulges me and does like some of the games I play.

Here's a my New To Me 2013 List:

Honorable Mentions

This game was a pleasant surprise, I didn't know much about it when I played it for the first time, but wow was it fun. Area control is a mechanic I'm enjoying more and more with each new game I play. This one was great for that, four different asymmetrical powers with different strategies. Playing as one race may have you trying too dominate the board, but playing as another race may have you trying too just spread out leaving behind tokens too advance on the wheel. This game was a lot of fun and was my second favorite area control game of the year.

Another really good Feld, the card play on this one is a really fun mechanic, combined with a cool area majority where were the ones deciding what each area is worth, a lot of fun and plays in an hour.

This game is a cool little set collection type game, where your collecting fruits and vegetables trying too sell them too get points all over the board, it has a cool rondel system and really fruit and vegeemeeples.

A fun negotiation game, building plots of farm lands and negotiating with other players too have them water your farm land so that you can score points at the end of the game as your vegetables thrive and your farm grows.

A game of industry building, building up your industry and expanding over Europe as your trying too supply ironworks, trains, and mills too score points at the end of the game, very fun and very cool too see the board expand as the industry is growing.

The most interesting mechanic of the year for sure that works great, as time progresses actions become more valuable thanks too the gears on the board that are pushing your workers. The game is very fun and very pretty when it's all set up. A great worker placement with a great mechanic that's not a gimmick.

This game has a couple great mechanics that combine too make a great game, the auction mechanic and the tech tree mechanic, both very great and this one snuck up on me as I was surprised by how much I really loved it.

This game of deluxe Sorry Sliders is a really great game, a lot of fun especially in a drinking environment, flicking discs and drinking some beer would just be a blast, a really great game that I'm glad I finally tried.

So this is the year of Feld for me, the year I got introduced to Feld and realized how great of a designer he is, Bora Bora is just one of his masterpieces. This game is the definition of point salad, there's a hundred different things too do and they all score you points. I love that about his games honestly, I love having a million different decisions, and a million different possible strategies, it makes games very different and I love it. This game also has the most beautiful board Feld has ever had, the components and art are top notch. This game was great, not my favorite Feld but still a great game.

This game has fallen quite a bit in my rankings from the beginning of the year, but when you play a game about 80 times it's bound too happen. Still, I can still appreciate this game and love it, this is the best Werewolf type game out there, better than Werewolf and vanilla Resistance. The added roles are what make it so good, it adds a lot. This game is great and it's given me so many great memories and I'm sure it will give me many more.

Very happy with this game, it was exactly what I was hoping for. I loved Arkham Horror but with the game length and fiddlyness of it it was just too much too get it played. This game solves that problem, 2 and a half hours for my first learning as opposed to 9 hours for Arkham Horror. Another great part of this game is the story aspect, traveling the world uncovering mysteries and clues so I can advance the story.

Another Feld in the top 10, this one is really great. It's like a puzzle almost, building your kingdom from the ground up. This game is the most elegant, relaxing game out there. There's no rush or craziness, it's just rolling your dice and building your kingdom, it all looks so pretty and it's really just a bunch of fun as your sitting across your wife drinking a cup of coffee and playing a game. This is the definition of a perfect wife game, and that's why I love it. No my favorite Feld either, but still amazing.

This is the one, the definitive co-op, the only won that needs too be played. The tension from turn too turn is amazing and brought out by such an engrossing theme. Playing different scenarios as your trying too survive on Cannibal Island or maybe live the life of the Swiss Family Robinson, it's all so fun and brought out great with the amazing art and high tension gameplay. I don't like co-ops really at all but this one is an exception, it's an absolute blast and my #6 game of 2013.

Now as we hit the top 5 I have my favorite worker placement game of the year. Vanuatu has got one of my favorite worker placement mechanics, basically bidding with workers, fighting with the other players, do you load up on one spot too make sure you get that action or spread them out too possibly get a lot of actions. Not too mention the game has role selection aspect too it as well. The game qualifies as probably the most beautiful game of the year for me, the board and art is gorgeous, and I guess I must be a sucker for islands as this is my 3rd game on the list that involves that theme. This one is an underrated gem but that's fine, I own it and I love everything about it.

This is the best area control game out there. A six-player game of this will be the most epic game you play all year, just amazing how each different house has got these mini rivalries with all the houses. Making quite alliances with another house too get back stabbed on the last turn of the game is just an amazing experience and evokes the theme of the show so well, where it really is a game of thrones and we'll do whatever it takes too take over the throne. This is the best area control game I've played all year and one of the best I've ever played.

My favorite Feld of the year, this is the one for me. My wife loves it and I love it, it's just an amazing game. The quick playing nature of a two-player game with the high tension with every card that's played. I love having a card it may not be a color you want but there's always something you can do with it, that's the biggest strategy of the game, okay a card you wanted didn't come out how can score some points on the fly too adjust for getting something you didn't want. There's so much strategy in that sense, a lot of people find that part of the game too random, in reality it's a great mechanic that with strategic plays and smart decisions won't effect you. There's so many great aspects too this game and that's why I love it.

This game hasn't been played all that much in the last few months but it doesn't change the way I feel about it. This is the best CCG/LCG style game I think that's out there, asymmetrical gameplay at it's best. I've played this game over 150 times as it's just an amazing game with so much depth. One of my buddies I play this game with sold his collection and another works too much too play all that much, it's a shame because I'd love to play this game more but I still appreciate the amount of gameplay I got out of it when it was really popular in my game group.

This is my number one game of the year. The perfect game, the best game. It's no surprise it's flown up the rankings, there's so much too it. The depth, the re-playability, the tacked on theme that really isn't tacked on. Everything about this game screams #1 game. Every time I finish a game of this I'm ready too start another game, I want explore a race I've played before that much more, or maybe I want too try a new race, there's just so much that I love about this game, and I just want too keep playing it again and again. This game is great, could possibly be my favorite game, I dunno yet but it's just that good. I want too explore it more and more, and as long as I feel that way this game is gonna stay high on my personal rankings.

*These are all games my game group has or have on pre-order.

This game looks really good, the card playing mechanics tied with the beautiful art and theme make it a very high on my want to play list.

The theme is really intriguing for me on this one, building a family tree sounds really fun, outside of that I don't know a lot about it but I know I still really want too try it.

The sequel to an amazing game in Agricola by a designer who only makes amazing games, very excited too play this one, hopefully very soon.

A very highly regarded game by my favorite designer, I'm frothing at the mouth too give this one a go.

A very fun looking party style game of absolute destruction, I can't wait too give this one a go.
