I was interesting in how many 'player life' games there were-and couldn't find a geeklist remotely like what I was looking for.

So, I decided to improve the site and make my first geeklist!

I was looking for a game with everyone acting the life of a knight-Could include: starting at youth, training, becoming squire, going on quests, getting richer, fighting stuff (lots of that) becoming a knight, getting old, and maybe some land owning/family growing in there somewhere.
Not really interested in solo or co-op.

I have found nothing terribly similar to my criteria!

There are quite a few dungeon crawlers that have many of the elements I want-compressed into a year or so. Interesting, but not quite what I had in mind.

So, here is what I have found close to what I was looking for, and I hope you all will add to my compilation.
What I am really looking for on this geeklist is games that are tracking the aging of a player, and similar games. I'm hoping other geeks will know/have experience with the games and can help expand this list. I'm ranking them on a single criteria:

1) How closely do they track/simulate the aging of a single character?
= Very well; it's the focus of the game.
= Good; might miss portions of life, but still aging is the focus.
= OK; it has elements of character aging, but the game focus is on another aspect.
= Close; has playing pieces aging, but not the focus/multiple pieces.
= Barely there; has some elements of single player aging.
Please note this has nothing to do with how good a game it is!
And I'm allowing co-ops on this list, even though I'm not interested, so long as they fit the 'aging' criteria.
Also, this is rather subjective. I reserve the right to disqualify any games that do not fit the 'character aging' criteria, in my sole opinion!

Finally, I'm really hoping geeks with more experience will help expand this list. I pledge for added games/information about gameplay for obscure games.
Don't get too excited though-my bag has less than so it's really going to be a token tip! Thanks for helping anyway!
So you get a TON of bag when you support this site! More for everyone!

This list is arranged alphabetically.

I know this is a great game, but it's only getting a few stars because it's a farming game, not a life progression game.

It's on here because the family grows over time...so it does track the aging. Sorta.

Long generation game....I'm interested. Is it good? Has anyone even played this recently? It ranks rather high an BGG for such an old/long game.

Focus is on generations, not individual character. Still looks good.

On here for the same reason as Agricola-the family does grow, so it sorta tracks the time passing. I do want this game, but not for the time aspect!

This is kinda a placeholder for all Dungeon Crawlers covering an extended time frame. Ashardalon says it has campaigns...I have no idea how much time they cover....if anyone knows of any Dungeon Crawlers that also simulate the character aging, please add it!

Ashardalon is on the list because I'm working on the assumption that there is some feel of time passing in the campaigns. That could be very wrong....

Compared to Blood Royale....there is apparently time passing, but focused on family. Again, I'm interested.

Bumped it up a halfstar after research, because the individual characters have unique personalities.

I should also note the original Fief games were French-language based. This only changed with Fief: France 1429, which is designed for an English audience. (Specifically, USA, I believe.)

Well, here is another 'generational' time passing game-this geeklist is causing me to find lots of games I want to try! Area control game, it forces you to 'move on' and develop other areas of the board. Thanks Morganza for bringing this one to my attention!

Now the big question-which generational game do I try first?

from the entry;

Quote:
It is 1729 in pre-revolution France, a time when the aristocracy has all the power and the means to rule the country. As a wealthy, well-educated aristocrat, you have travelled the world and had the fortune to enjoy your life to the fullest – but you see that history is about to change course and you know that in order to stay strong, your family must prepare well. You need to find new allies. You must absorb smaller families and use their potency to strengthen your kin. You have to arrange wise marriages, nurture strong connections at court, obtain titles, build mansions, and find the right spouses for your daughters and sons...

Legacy: The Testament of Duke de Crecy enables you to build a powerful dynasty in 18th century France as you step into the shoes of a French noble and compete for lasting honor. Over three generations, you – a resourceful patriarch or matriarch – will attempt to create a lasting legacy by establishing a house with ties to many different wealthy and powerful families from France and abroad (Spain, Italy, Russia and other countries).

This card game offers endless possibilities. Each time you build a family, you write a unique story, bringing to life the diverse relationships between parents and their children, between cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. Whether you are looking for the best husband for your only daughter or a suitable wife for one of your two sons, whether you are looking to add new blood to your family by marrying into foreign nobility – you will be working to make your family rise in status through prestige and wealth, new skills and abilities.

In Legacy: The Testament of Duke de Crecy – known previously as Nobles of Paris and winner of Ducosim Spelontwerp in 2009 – you will find 75 spouse cards with unique traits, more than twenty secret missions, nine titles, and nine "contribution to the family" cards. This all culminates in a highly thematic card game that will satisfy players who enjoy exploring many different paths to victory.

I would add I'm really interested in this game. Is it good/worth it, in the sense of how well it 'feels' like you're following the generations of a family?

The campaigns in this appear to show time passing better than most dungeon crawlers in the form of leveling up. Still don't think it really 'ages' the characters.
Plus it's a card game....not bad, but not what I want.
