Darkwynd's 2014 Challenge: 10 Plays of 10 Games
- Jonathan Bailey(Darkwynd)United States
This list is to track my progress on the 2014 Challenge: Play 10 Games 10 Times Each. You can check out my summary progress on the main geeklist hereRecommend
I wanted to accept the challenge to play ten games ten times each because it will actually be a challenge for me. As much as I would like to play games more often, it is very difficult for two main reasons:
* My children are currently ages 14, 9, 33 months, and 19 months, so finding time to sit down with the older kids - and preferably my wife as well - and play a game without the toddlers screaming about being excluded is a challenge in itself.
* The older kids and myself are also video game junkies and addicted to our iDevices and DSs and Vitas as applicable, so it's all too easy for us to just do our own thing. I'm hoping that taking on the challenge and giving myself a goal to work toward will cause me to be more intentional about getting everyone to unplug and spend some time together playing a game.
I'd like to get back to doing more solo gaming as well. When I first got into the hobby, I would look forward to spending time I had to myself breaking out a game. Lately, however, I just default to watching a show or logging some time on my PS3 because, frankly, it's easier. I know that playing a game would be a more fulfilling experience, but I'm just being lazy.
I am attempting to make my selections for the challenge an even mix of games that I'll play with the kids, ones my wife and I can play just the two of us, and games I can play solo. Since this challenge will in part require a group effort from my family to complete, I'm also soliciting input from them on what games they might want to try playing ten times over the course of the year.
I'm designating games as solo (1P), two-player (2P), or three-plus-player (GRP) to make it easier to see what kind of mix I have at a glance. These will be based off of the number of players will play in my family, so it won't necessarily correlate to the number of players technically possible with the game.
UPDATE: Now that we are allowed to switch out games for the challenge beyond just a single alternate, I've started to list and track additional games that seem likely to get ten plays by the end of the year as they pop up.
