*Game* Tagline Contest! Win Thumbs!!
- Tim WhyCanada
**Preamble blurb - skip if not interested**
If you can all tear yourselves away from tanga.com for a few moments, here's my first geeklist. I've been part of BGG for about a year now and really enjoyed the creativity, fun, and community feel... not to mention reading about games that make me want to buy them .
So I thought I'd make my first geeklist... I've read enough to know about peoples' pet peeves with repeat geeklists. I've searched (really!) and found a somewhat similar one by darquil (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/3019), but it hasn't been updated since 2004, so no cheating by checking it out
As I was "researching" the answers to this contest, to my horror, Moviebuffs goes and creates a very similar geeklist contest (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/16660). Fortunately my idea is different enough that I think it would still be fun and warrant a new geeklist
On with the contest...
**End Preamble - Begin Game!!**
Inspired by the Scene It? Movie style tagline trivia, I thought it would be neat to test your knowledge of actual Game Tagline Trivia!! Some are fairly easy, while others are quite tough, but most of them (to me, anyways) are fairly evident when you know the answers. They are chosen from games that are fairly common (no obscure titles/taglines here) and I'm sure most of you have played them.
Now unfortunately, I don't own a ton of to give away as prizes. I am, however, able to go to each person who is first to guess correctly and (appropriately) give out some 's to -worthy content! As these questions are increasing in difficulty, here is the prize distribution:
Question 1-5 => Prize (up to) 1
Question 6-10 => Prize (up to) 2 's
Question 11-15 => Prize (up to) 3 's
Question 16-20 => Prize (up to) 4 's
Question 21-25 => Prize (up to) 5 's
(it says "up to" because I don't feel right giving a to undeserving content - however, I'm happy to give even more if it turns out you've got lots of great stuff!)
What Is A Game Tagline? A Game Tagline is a short little one-sentence blurb that excites the box-browser and is supposed to evoke a bit of the theme of the game and what is involved in gameplay. Movies make use of these all the time on their promotional posters. Check out the first few questions (#1-5) for some examples. They are fairly easy and should be fairly instantly guessed.
The game that is associated with the question is *not* the right answer, but rather a game that could possibly go with that tagline, intended to throw you off a little bit. Please use spoiler tags. In case this game is too easy, I will offer the "prizes" to one of the first 10 to respond, just so that the first person who logs in and answers *all* the questions does not receive 75 thumbs
Enjoy the game and have fun!!
P.S. If you did have some fun with this game, if I sent you scurrying through your game collection examining the box covers, if you laughed at how generic some taglines are (or how completely some are related to the gameplay), I'd appreciated a small tip In return, not only will I sent a note of thanks, but will also go through your content and add a few for your efforts! (Is that permitted? The way I see this BGG-economics, the Admin have unlimited to give out, but don't give any . Users have limited but unlimited , and now with the golden thumb status, and people tracking 's for photos, articles, etc... 's seem to be a new user-driven currency, exchangeable with ? Am I "selling out" by offering my 's for ? Or is this a new form of economic reform?)
P.P.S. Any other Canadians interested in doing a Math Trade within Canada? Shipping costs so much over the border!!
