I can see a lot of people doing this, so I feel I must commit. I have spent 2013 heavily involved with the Iron Reviewer Challenge, which has meant a lot of reading, but not quite as much playing as I would have liked.

In 2014, I aim to continue reading, but to channel a lot more of that into my gaming experience. I also want to diversify that gaming experience, because I know the big world out there contains a lot of stuff I haven't even seen, nevermind read.

Big challenge this year, along with trying all the new stuff, will be to look at games I already have and see what I can do with them. I like the way some games do certain things, while other games have great settings I want to play more of - so, somewhere in between, I need to find common ground without extending the size of my game collection!

So, in summary:

(1) Games to play
(2) Games to read
(3) Games to repurpose

I enjoy playing Dragon Age a lot, but I am not a player of Dragon Age, the console game.

I enjoy the Warhammer setting a lot, but I don't see my group taking to all those cards and fancy dice. Somehow, I personally enjoyed the old versions more.

In the middle ground here, I see Warhammer played with Dragon Age mechanics, as the grimy low fantasy setting of DA somehow seems to fit.

I play to make this a rough and ready conversion, because it should be about the playing. I'm not seeking to publish this, except perhaps in the occasional Session report.

I have owned this game for months, and I have become quite excited about some of the supplements that followed - oddly, the Collections have caught me especially.

I need to make time to read the whole thing and get to grips with it at the table. I can already imagine that I'll enjoy it... but, I need to see it happen for real.

I have read all the book and I appreciate, though not necessarily grok, the setting. And, I have successfully run 1/2 of an adventure using Night's Black Agents.

More must occur...

I can see campaign written all over this, even if I don't quite get as far as CASE NIGHTMARE GREEN. I have plenty of ideas, but I need to focus on getting them to the table.

Another edition on the horizon and the old rules sitting in the reading pile next to my bed.

We have played this game once and I felt certain I would enjoy running it, too. I have been reading a bunch of old articles about it and the Shadowfist TCG, way back in the mid-90s.

I need to watch some of the source material movies to truly grasp the genre - but I don't see that as a problem, providing I can allot the time.

2014 needs to see more martial arts action and blazing small arms fire...

What's the point of backing a Kickstarter and owning a game if you're not going to get your head down and read/play the damned thing?

Someone else ran this at my gaming group, but I happened to be the GM for the other 50%, so I didn't get to have a go.

I need to make up for that and get some Hillfolk in my 2014.

I think I'll be digging into the pitches for something non-Iron Age, but isn't that the whole point of game that's 90% Pitches?!

I have so many doubts about this game, but how can so many people be wrong? How can it be that every convention I go to the Pathfinder games get swarmed and filled up, leaving me rooting around for players?

I have had the Begineers' kit for ages and never managed to read all the way through the enclosed slim manuals. I have the actual core book in PDF.

I mustn't make excuses. I must give this one a go.

I have played on more than one occasion and I must consider the possibility that I just had bad experiences...

I read a ton about this game last year, but felt that it didn't really fit into the sort of game I'd want to play. However, someone in my gaming group has it and I have seen a lot of positivity online.

Therefore, this must be played.

It feels like another game I could GM at conventions and get some players in without having to work so hard. I like the idea of running a few games that have an automatic following driven by a bit of excitement.

The start of the year will see the Kickstarter for TimeWatch, the time travelling framework/setting for the GUMSHOE system written by Kevin Kulp.

I have had the chance to run three sessions of the game to date and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as have the players (judging from feedback).

The game combines the clue hunting mechanism of the standard system with some time-twisting shenanigans that make for an interesting experience. The nature of time travel makes for minimal prep being a necessary norm.

I hope to several more sessions based on the playtest rules - and very much rally behind the fund-raising.

I have started reading the Beta book with the intent of running this in the first half of 2014.

I have also set about reading through old issues of Star Wars Gamer for inspiration - with some positive results thus far.

I have my dice ready (two sets) and at least two other people in the group familiar with Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, so this should be an easy push to get some gaming done.

I have owned the slipcase set for a while now, acquired secondhand from eBay. I have been a fan of Tolkien for 30 years and played MERP in the late 80s, so how can this go wrong?

I have this sitting on the shelf in the hallway. I took it out of the boxes I store in the cupboard a while back as I felt the urge to read a little. Having owned this for a long time, picking it up for next to nothing on a whim from eBay, it seems rude not to give it more attention...
