This is a knock-out competition for the Boardgames League that is similar to the way the UK soccer FA Cup functions. That is that teams from the higher leagues enter the contest in later rounds. There is a random draw rather than seedings.
Select what you think are the Best games in each group, whatever your personal criteria for that are.
Next Round will be the Final, with the winners of each of these brackets taking part in a 4-way Final.

If you aren't familiar with the Boardgames League, you can see the latest standings here:
Top 100 Boardgames League - The Majors January '14 [POLL]
The Boardgames League - The Minors January '14 [POLL]

How it works:
- Round 1: Lower level 'teams' enter the competition - The Dump, The Queue and Leagues 4 & 5 of the Minors
- Round 2: The rest of the Minors join the competition
- Round 3: Tiers 3-5 of the Majors join the competition
- Round 4: Tiers 1 & 2 of the Majors join the competition
- Round 5: Sweet Sixteen
- Roung 6: Finals!

Each game's current position is appended to its name for interest e.g. (D) for Dump, (Q) for Queue, (T1) for Tier 1, (L3) for League 3. To prevent me making silly mistakes the positions are used from November.
To make the contest zip along the match-ups will be mini-brackets of four games, with only one game going forward to the next round.
To make the numbers nice, a few of the best 2nd placed games will also go through to the next round in Rounds 1, 2 & 3. 'Best' determined by most votes.
Ties will be broken randomly.

So what happened in Round 4? The winners from Round 3 were joined by the big games from Major Leagues 1 & 2, meaning that all games were in the competition.

Bracket winners from Round 4 sorted by number of votes:

149 Puerto Rico (2002) (T1)
134 Agricola (2007) (T1)
133 Carcassonne (2000) (T1)
121 7 Wonders (2010) (T1)
118 Power Grid (2004) (T1)
106 Race for the Galaxy (2007) (T1)
103 King of Tokyo (2011) (T2)
102 Pandemic (2008) (T1)
102 Lords of Waterdeep (2012) (T1)
101 Ra (1999) (T2)
100 Small World (2009) (T1)
99 The Castles of Burgundy (2011) (T1)
89 Galaxy Trucker (2007) (T2)
89 Battlestar Galactica (2008) (T1)
82 Dixit (2008) (T2)
79 Cosmic Encounter (2008) (T2)

Congratulations to the Tier 2 games: Ra, Dixit, Cosmic Encounter, Galaxy Trucker and King of Tokyo getting through to the Sweet Sixteen. Especially Galaxy Trucker, having seen off a Tier 1 game (Tzolk'in) in the process.

Best 2nd places - none of these qualify for Round 5, but the top four get to play-off this round for fun.

94 Le Havre (2008) (T2)
93 Ticket to Ride (2004) (T1)
90 Twilight Struggle (2005) (T1)
90 The Settlers of Catan (1995) (T2)
88 El Grande (1995) (T1)
86 Eclipse (2011) (T1)
84 Kingsburg (2007) (T3)
83 Dominant Species (2010) (T1)
81 Acquire (1962) (T3)
79 The Resistance (2009) (T1)
78 Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization (2006) (T1)
78 Stone Age (2008) (T2)
77 A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (2011) (T2)
76 Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar (2012) (T1)

Something of a shock to see BGG's #1 (TS) & #2 (TtA) ranked games dumped out of the contest. Also #5 (Android), #6 (Terra Mystic), #7 (Eclipse, #9 (Mage Knight) and #10 (Le Havre) are blown out!

Most of the brackets saw very clear victories, but there were a couple of very close battles:
In the closest match of the round Dixit got 82 votes to beat Acquire with 81.
Cosmic Encounter with 79 saw off Game of Thrones with 77.

The only real upset last round was Tier 2 Galaxy Trucker defeating Tier 1 Tzolkin. Five Tier 2 games made it through to this Sweet Sixteen round, all other lower league games are out, meaning that 11 of the 20 Tier 1 games are still in. Only 3 of the BGG Top Ten are still in!

There were four 'home' victories, (exactly what we'd expect by chance), so yet again it looked like home advantage didn't count for much (home being the game that gets the geeklist entry).

The Best 3rd placed game was Dominion with 84 votes.
The Worst 2nd placed game was Village with 61 votes.
Roborally was the lowest scoring T2 game with 50 votes.
Tzolk'in was the lowest scoring T1 game with 76 votes.

An all-Tier 1 bracket, but not featuring any of the biggest games. A great chance for one of these to make it to the Final.

The bracket of the round, as we see Agricola take on Race for the Galaxy, with the vote-splitting effect of the four-way tie throwing a spin on the match-up.

Power Grid looks like the favourite here, but this 4-way tie approach has thrown up shock results before (case in point: Twilight Struggle). Carcassonne got more votes than Power Grid in Round 4 so cannot be easily dismissed.

Puerto Rico looks good on paper for this as the only Tier 1 game in this bracket, and coming off the biggest vote-taker in Round 4.
King of Tokyo could be the biggest challenger here, with over 100 votes last round.
