Unwanted Rejects - Thrift/Bargain Finds Left Behind: February 2014

This is the traditional monthly Thrift & Bargain Dumpster.
A fitting place for discussing rejects and leftovers spotted while thrifting and bargain hunting. If you please: cast those items in the T&B-Dumpster!
Add items you left wherever you were sniffing around. Don't fill the dumpster with truckloads of Monopolies, Trivial Somethings and other regular leftovers. But rather add peculiar items, items that looked as if the cat dragged them in or items that caught your eye in some other special way.
Regular stuff accompanied by a good story is obviously also worth listing. As a guideline, take this into consideration: "Do the thrifters want to know about this?"
This list is also well suited to discuss those should-I-go-back-for-it items. Feedback you will get, from either end of the scale, from 'how could you, you amateur!' to 'best decision you ever made, you are the King!'
In the description, try to mention the state the game was in, the asking price, and other details worth knowing about. Oh... and please close the lid behind you. Thanks.
Last month's T&B-Dumpster: Wear protective gear before opening and be prepared to fend off any scattering rats. Unwanted Rejects - Thrift/Bargain Finds Left Behind: January 2014
Our GeekGuild: Please mind the stacks of games. Don't mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters thanks you.

Having only limited funds on me at the time (poor planning, I know) I left about 5 copies at $1 each of this behind at the Goodwill in Adrian, MI (I guess technically it belongs on last months list but, I'm here so I'm posting.) What did I pick up? A foreign version of Midnight Party and an Enchanted Forest each for $1. I think I made the right choice!

The Qwirkle mouth has indeed opened in the Twin Cities. I passed on another copy today at the Roseville GW for $4.99. That makes 5-6 copies I've seen on the shelves in the past week.

3 copies of version pictured at Half Price Books, $9.99 - $14.99. All three were in pretty poor shape, and I know at least one was missing pieces.

Left this at Goodwill. Box and lid were beat; couldn't tell if it was complete. Didn't have the time to check for completeness.

Was really tempted, but it was missing more than half the game. Only half the plastic Thugs and half the number of bases, no money, no cards. All it had were the rules and the certificates plus half the playing pieces. They wanted $3.50...

I SO wanted to buy this today, but the Savers had it marked at $19.99!!
I already own a copy, and have already thrifted one for my daughter otherwise I probably would have bought it anyway. I hate to encourage that high of a markup on games though!

I was SO excited when I saw the black box with orange and yellow lettering sitting on a clearance shelf at Target!!!
Sadly...it had been returned, was taped along each edge and was still $35.99!!
So I left it there.

Tripped over a couple Avalon hill games and left them behind.
$4 at GW. I have tried to limit my AH acquisitions to the Bookshelf games and I already have too many wargames that I can't find players for.

Saw this in original shrink at the Lawrence Ave VV in Toronto this morning - $7.99. I left it there because: 1) I already have a copy, 2) I am not a reseller, and 3) the popularity of this game seems to be waning (I see it more and more in thrift stores) so it's less desirable to pick it up for the purpose of gifting it to a friend. However, I thought it might be of interest for one of you who is reseller or who wants a copy for themselves.

The Qmouth is still open over the Twin Cities. Another copy showed up at the Woodbury GW for $2.99 and the copy at the White Bear Ave VV is still there ($5.99).

Was saddened to leave this behind at Hidden Treasures today. Marked at $2.99 but the box had damage and the bits were missing. The only thing in the box were some advertising bits (AH catalog from 1987), some badly coffee stained reference sheets and the board.

i went to savers and the board game area was a disaster. bits and pieces are lying all over the floor, multiple game boxes are lying strewn on the ground... its pretty bad.
i notice some familiar looking art, and realize its a character board for Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel. so i find the box bottom, and start piling cards, and tiles, and character boards into the box from the floor. i have to get on my knees to reach *under* the shelves and dig out more cards and bits. in fact, i end up employing another box cover to reach under the shelves and drag bits and cards towards me.
i eventually find the box top on the other end of the shelves. but there are no dice and no minis. so i cleaned up what i could find, and put the box back on the top shelf. maybe another geek who needs a parts copy will find it. it was $4.99 at savers in west roxbury, ma.
too bad. would have been great to find a complete one.

Yep...imagine my surprise to see this large box sitting atop the collectibles shelf. I had to hide my excitement of course!
I asked to look at the price...
Battery acid leaks inside the box, lots of musty smell...and a $149.99 price tag.
I could save about $37 if it's still there on Monday, but don't know that I'd be able to make much of it back.
It was at Savers.

Normally leave these behind anyway, since I already have a set of the ships...but this was in shrink... and marked...
