It affects 8% of the male population. It's a condition that affects the cones in the eyes. The most common form of this condition is known as "dichromacy." There is no known cure.

Colorblindness! Also known in more politically correct circles as "color vision deficiency," it's the bane of some gamers' favorite pasttime. Look at any game and you're likely to see red and green pieces, the two most commonly confused colors in colorblind people. Mix in oranges and browns, or purples and blues, and it just mucks up the problem even more.

Below are some examples where I've had to physically modify my games in order for me to be able to play them. There are others that have to be modded for play (Taj Mahal and Tongiaki come to mind), but I don't have those games, so I didn't include them. If you have examples you would like to add, feel free to do so.

*Red, Orange, Yellow, Red or Green?, Blue, Dark Blue, Darker Blue

Someone commented about this game earlier in the list, and I went back and looked at the cards. For the most part, the red and green cards are different enough to tell apart under good conditions, but in dim light, or against other red-green colorblind, it might pose a problem. I went ahead and marked one suit, just to be on the safe side.

This is another game I somehow overlooked, both when making this list, AND when I first bought the game. I've played it once, and didn't think to mark either suit, but when I look at it now, the colors are way too similar for ease of play. I remedied that yesterday.

Earlier in this GeekList, I commented on how this game tried a unique approach in matching the colors to the birds. For the most part, it works, but as you can see in the above picture, the foxes are identical, and the only difference between the -2 cards is the color/style of the tailfeathers. I figured it would be easier just to mark one color and make it easier to distinguish the two colors.

There are pictures included to distinguish the different suits, which helps, but when you have a hand of cards, it's hard to see the pictures without separating all your cards. It only took me a couple of minutes to mark up two of the suits to make it easier to distinguish the cards at a glance.

BattleLore's dices all use the same type of helmet, making it hard to identify the color rolled! I've put a dot next to the green ones, as even those who are not colorblind have trouble seeing the difference between green and blue in dim lightning.

It sounds though that DoW will make available new dice with the new helmets (displayed here). (I've read this from Eric on the BattleLore's forum).

Green-Red and Brown!!
I think there are a lot of color that can use to clarify the colors for colorblindness. Just print something on token will be the best!

I hope that Martin Wallace will take care us, the colorblindness.

The blue and green cubes are difficult to distinguish. Add in variations in the wood and less than ideal lighting and some are impossible to tell apart.
