This is a knock-out competition for the Boardgames League that is similar to the way the UK soccer FA Cup functions. That is that teams from the higher leagues enter the contest in later rounds. There is a random draw rather than seedings.
Select what you think are the Best games in each group, whatever your personal criteria for that are.

If you aren't familiar with the Boardgames League, you can see the latest standings here:
Top 100 Boardgames League - The Majors January '14 [POLL]
The Boardgames League - The Minors January '14 [POLL]

How it works:
- Round 1: Lower level 'teams' enter the competition - The Dump, The Queue and Leagues 4 & 5 of the Minors
- Round 2: The rest of the Minors join the competition
- Round 3: Tiers 3-5 of the Majors join the competition
- Round 4: Tiers 1 & 2 of the Majors join the competition
- Round 5: Sweet Sixteen
- Roung 6: Finals!

Each game's current position is appended to its name for interest e.g. (D) for Dump, (Q) for Queue, (T1) for Tier 1, (L3) for League 3. To prevent me making silly mistakes the positions are used from November.
To make the contest zip along the match-ups will be mini-brackets of four games, with only one game going forward to the next round.
To make the numbers nice, a few of the best 2nd placed games will also go through to the next round in Rounds 1, 2 & 3. 'Best' determined by most votes.
Ties will be broken randomly.

So what happened in Round 5? The 16 bracket winners from Round 4 were randomly split into four groups and battle commenced.

Round 5 competitors sorted by number of votes:

153 Power Grid (2004) (T1) (wins group and enters Final)
150 Puerto Rico (2002) (T1) (wins group and enters Final)
130 7 Wonders (2010) (T1) (wins group and enters Final)
121 Agricola (2007) (T1) (wins group and enters Final)
112 Pandemic (2008) (T1)
99 Carcassonne (2000) (T1)
98 King of Tokyo (2011) (T2)
97 The Castles of Burgundy (2011) (T1)
97 Race for the Galaxy (2007) (T1)
84 Battlestar Galactica (2008) (T1)
82 Lords of Waterdeep (2012) (T1)
60 Galaxy Trucker (2007) (T2)
58 Small World (2009) (T1)
57 Cosmic Encounter (2008) (T2)
55 Dixit (2008) (T2)
38 Ra (1999) (T2)

So thats pretty neat. Our four highest vote-getters also won their groups so all make the final. Of course, other groupings might have meant another game getting more votes.

Most of the brackets saw very clear victories, but the closest saw 7 Wonders see off Pandemic by just 18 votes.
Castles of Burgundy and Race for the Galaxy tied for 2nd in group 2. Castles won the coin toss.

There were no real upsets. No Tier 2 game defeated any Tier 1 games. King of Tokyo ends up high up the overall table, but only as the best of three Tier 2 games in its group.

In last round's battle of the "Best 2nd Places" from Round 4, the final results were:

143 Ticket to Ride (2004) (T1)
96 Twilight Struggle (2005) (T1)
66 Le Havre (2008) (T2)
60 The Settlers of Catan (1995) (T2)

This Round the games are grouped based on their performance in Round 5. The four 1st placed games play-off for the Final, the four 2nd placed games play-off, the four 3rd placed games play-off, etc.

No shock to see the #1 and #2 of the Boardgames League here, but stalwart Puerto Rico is something of a surprise package and 7 Wonders enters as the only really lightish game in the final, hoping to pick up the light votes, while the heavy votes are split.
