While we waited for the rest of the guests to arrive, we played a quick filler. The alternate card art was used. Due to the unfortunate loss of one chip, a penny served as substitute. Nobody wanted the penny, and Matt R was stuck with it at the end.

Jim 36, Jonathan 32, Matt R 30
Jim had almost all production buildings and the requisite Guild Hall to go with them, while I pursued a pure violet strategy (even using the Crane to ditch my starting Indigo plant). Matt had a blended approach.

Jim suggested we try out Pyrotech again. We played with two small starting factories, which helps give players a relief valve, but doesn't seem to be quite enough. I think I'll be reintroducing the "recycling" option as another way to mitigate the luck, which can be quite swingy. This is a tricky one to balance.

Matt J 83, Dan 81, Jeph 75, Tony 60
The game was new to everyone but Dan. Matt had no dirt at the end, while Jeph and Dan lost 21 points each due to their impressive dirt collections. Surprisingly, the most dirt does not necessarily win. The robeeples were mistakenly referred to as "people" several times, which is clearly speciesist.

Dan, Jim, Jonathan
Jim had a bit of an incident with a bowl of trail mix upon his departure. The winner of this impromptu floor-based game is difficult to determine, but Dan had a strong showing to be sure.

Ladies first:
Matt J & Tony 25, Jonathan & Matt R 21, Jeph & Dan 20
Six players left, you say? Time for Ladies & Gentlemen! Matt J took a long time trying out dresses, but this apparently paid off. I had four servants attending to my needs right from the first day on, which would have solidly given us the win if I had found a decent hat in any of the local haberdasheries.

Dan (Daigoro) 87, Jeph (Kinko) 75, Tony (Yoshiyasu) 65, Jonathan (Umegae) 57, Matt R (Gotozaemon) 55
Dan completed two whole sets of souvenirs and an entire panorama. He was beating us soundly, and the only way Jeph caught up as much as he did was through being the most pious at the temple, and by having an assortment of strange and wonderful monkey experiences while bathing.

Matt R 95, Jonathan 86, Dan 18
A SdJ nominee to finish off the evening. I don't think I've seen scores this high before. Dan had four misses to end the game, while I had two and Matt escaped without any.
