It's been a long time, since the last "who are you" list has come.
Time for a new one

What I'd like to read about is:
Who are you?
Is there anything you would like to boast with?
Where ELSE can I find you (your homepage, facebook, twitter, linkedin, xing, google+ and whatever else there is)?

Go ahead: show off yourself

I'll make a start:

My name is Kai and by now I'm 34 years old and from Germany.
Along with my girlfriend I live in a small village near the "Hoellenschlund" (Hell's Maw).
I'm not kidding! That's the name of the local wine-growing district nearby (though I do not know about the heritage of that name).
I like all kinds of dice games as well as miniature skirmish games and - being a game design hobbyist - I invented my own skirmish system: Whack & Slaughter
I'm especially proud of it, since it brings a unique innovation on the use of dice. (You still roll them, but the way you read them is new).

Apart from here you can find me (and my games) at http://www.catzeyes.de
If you want to, feel free to send me a friend request on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/harle.quin.758
I don't play those FB-Games, but you will get to read a lot of more or less funny nonsense from me

Since I love cats (who would have guessed that?), I've called The label I'm using to publish my games CatZeyeS Entertainment.
Feel free to follow me on FB: https://www.facebook.com/catzeyesentertainment
Or on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/catzeyesHQ

Kind regards,
Kai

My name's Kārlis, and I'm a 23-year-old guy from Latvia.

I spent my childhood in the countryside, but moved to Rīga (our capital city) shortly after turning 18, to go to university. Since I'm more of a city person at heart anyway, I haven't regretted doing so one bit. Initially I visited my family almost every weekend, but now I have other stuff occupying my weekends and the visits have dropped to less than once a month. And that I regret.

Anyway, now I'm mostly done with uni, where I've been studying computer science, and I have a job as a software engineer. I'm not particularly good at my job just yet, but I do think I'm getting better.

My free time goes by quickly - some it I spend playing board games (I try to host a gathering just about every week), and some more I spend singing - it's a thing I like to do, and I'm a part of two choirs. Rehearsals are twice a week for each, so that's four evenings per week locked down right there. And I guess that's what qualifies as my boast
I also like cycling, though I'm a bit sick right now and haven't done that in a few days.

If you feel like looking me up outside of BGG, you can find me at http://www.facebook.com/karlis.jerins or https://twitter.com/kjerins, though that's unlikely to be of any use to you since I mostly post in Latvian, and seldom about board games.

Oh, and I picked BSG as my entry because there is no game I love even half as much!

Hi! My name's Chris, I come from Kraków, Poland and I'm closing in on 27 years of age.

I'm a video game industry professional specialising in game design. I've been working in this business for the past 3 years, so I'm still sort of a novice.

I also design card and board games in my spare time, I'm hoping to get one of them published this year, but the going has been slow!

I'm also doing all I can to further my knowledge of the video game industry and to learn additional skills, like programming or using graphics programs to create mock-ups and prototypes faster. Joining my job with my hobby is working out well enough, although I am having second thoughts about it

If you'd like to follow a project I'm doing now, on my own, separate from what I do every day for my job, then feel free to follow me on Twitter @KingZebraStudio. I can promise weekly updates, and more stuff when the project gains steam.

I also run a YouTube channel, but I've only started recently, it's nothing special yet and the majority of stuff there is in Polish, so it's probably of limited use to you... but if you're interested regardless, then you can find me under ChrisFinch87.

Cheers!

Cool idea with so many users, it sometimes feels like a faceless place, even though there's some initiatives (like geek of the week).

So, my name's Jan, 30 years old, lived in Belgium my whole life. I used to work as a graphic designer, but after being laid off during the recession I decided to get a degree at uni. I'm about finishing up now, doing odd jobs to make ends meet, but it was absolutely worth it.

I've been geeky in all kinds of ways for as long as I can remember. I've been on BGG for a good 8 or 9 years now. I got into the hobby through Reiner Knizia's Samurai. I remember that being the game that brought me to BGG, and I haven't looked back since

These days I'm dabbling in some RPG's as well, though mostly story games (Fiasco, Apocalypse World). I quite like the creativity you can bring to the table with RPG's as compared to boardgames. As far as boardgames go, my tastes are very broad. I'm always curious to see how different kinds of games work, how different feelings can be evoked or different mechanics applied. I guess I'd like to say that I try designing stuff, but I'm not really spending enough time on my projects to make that claim

I always keep busy with projects, and one of my recent ones that I'm particularly fond of is my edition of Robert W. Chamber's King in Yellow. It's a collection of short stories in the vein of Lovecraft and other weird tales of that era. The King in Yellow is probably most famous thanks to Lovecraft's work, though it was Ambrose Beirce who wrote about the character first, then Chambers wrote a couple of stories that tend to be the ones referred to today.

The recent HBO show True Detective brought up a lot of DIY publishers to the same idea, since the book is in the public domain. At the time, I just wanted to read it and I got a copy off of amazon. It was horrible. I later read on Warriors forum (a script kiddie equivalent of an internet marketing how to website) about how it was a good tactic to just grab the content of a book, dump it in a file and upload it to get quick cash. So the book I had ordered must have been one of those, cause there was little or no attention to layout, and it just became unreadable. Luckily I could send it back and get a refund, but in the mean time I still didn't have my book. So I made my own copy, toiling over every detail for a week or two in the process. In the end, I've been through it a hundred times at least double checking every page.

In the end, I'm super happy with the results! If you want to check it out:
http://goo.gl/Q1dckc (amazon US)
http://goo.gl/gAtH7a (amazon UK)
http://goo.gl/OLQjEM (amazon DE)

Other than that I also run a website on urban planning over at: http://humancityproject.wordpress.com/, though I've been neglecting it lately...

And here's another question for the rest of you: what's the last game you played? Mine was Imperial 2030

I live in Massachusetts with my wife and two dogs. I am a CPA and I work for a consulting firm in New Hampshire. I have 3 major hobbies in addition to board games:

1. Movies - I am a movie junkie. I love all types of movies, but I am a particularly huge fan of movies from the 1970s (especially crime movies that take place in New York, such as The French Connection; Shaft; The taking of Pelham One, Two, Three; Dog day Afternoon; and Serpico). I also love obscure, low-budget, bad movies and spend a lot of time seeking them out and buying them. My DVD/blu-ray collection consists of over 3,500 titles. I am a frequent contributor to the forums on www.badmovies.org

2. Comic books - I'm a big fan of Marvel and DC comics, mostly from the 1960s through 1980s.

3. Magic (and I don't mean Magic: the Gathering!) - I have a large collection of magic supplies . . . probably somewhere between $7,000 and $10,000 worth. Cards, coins, DVDs, color-changing knives, linking rings, dice, poker chips, silks, books, you name it. I'm not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but I have done performances at office parties and family parties. For me, learning and practicing magic is a form of relaxation.

Hello.

I'm Luke, 33. Live with my wife of ten years and our little daughter here in England. Lived in Japan for five years until the end of 2012. That was interesting.

I've only just started prodding my nose into VGG again. I was on a bit in the early days when it launched, getting my geekgold for adding games and images of the boxes. Ahhh the good ol' goldrush days.

I think that the reason I stayed away from here for a while after is that for some reason I'm more opinionated on my love of video games than board games. Try as I might, I'm also a Sony fanboy and so it takes an effort to accept people preferring other stuff. Strange that, as I can deal with all the different genres and types of games being loved and hated on BGG. Also I use BGG to help me with my board game purchases, but don't with VGG.

Still, I decided that I wanted to write some game reviews (my first is for Remember Me and is in the recent review section. The one waiting to be accepted at the moment is for Wet) and so thought I'd have a look around and get involved. It's quiet and I have no real interest in Steam or mobile apps, but there's still ways to waste time here so that's ok.

Errrrrm, so...I play board games (as well as design and historically I've written reviews and had a podcast), LOVE sports (I play cricket, used to cycle when I had a bike in Japan and watch cricket, football (soccer), pro cycling and basically whatever sport is around), read a bit, listen to a bit of music, play bass and blah di blah.

I've played videogames and computer games since I was a kid, starting with my cousin's Spectrum, then my Amstrad, then I got an Amiga 1200, then a Playstation, then a PC, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, PSP, Vita...all spread over many years of course. So I guess that's 25 years or so. Not bad. That also means that I shudder at how much money and how many hours I've sunk into the world of virtual entertainment. Still, it's been fun.

You probably know me best from my avatar on here and that I rarely have anything useful to say. You probably don't know me as a PE teacher/learning mentor, qualified hairdresser, church fella. But I'm all of those too.

As I love lists and such, my favourite five games of the Playstation 3 generation are probably: Heavy Rain, Skyrim, Metal Gear Solid 4, Mirror's Edge, Tomb Raider.
I love weird story-led games LIKE Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Catherine, Persona, Virtue's Last Reward (and no doubt Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc when I can get round to affording it). I put this down to my time in Japan.

I am Mike, formerly one of the hosts of the Ninja vs Pirates podcast. I am preparing to return to podcasting soon. I live in NY, have met Mr. Avri above, and am 32.

Obviously, I play board games (or my participation at this site would be odd). I am a diehard Islanders fan, play ice hockey (goalie), and watch hockey. I work as a teacher (when I can find a job) and theatrical carpenter. Currently, I am posting this from Indio, CA at the Coachella music festival.

Other hobbies include avid pro-wrestling fan and Lego fan. I can be found on YouTube at the Westchesterewa channel, and at ninjavspirates.libsyn.com. I am on linkedin as Michael Bonet but I need to update my linkedin profile. I have Facebook and Twitter but don't really give those out unless I know you.

My name is Gary, I'm 41 years old, and I work as an accountant for a group of hotels. Married a year and a half ago, have an almost 10 month old son who gets into everything. I've been a roleplayer since I was 7 years old but switched to board games a bit over a decade ago when it became too difficult to keep an RPG group together.

I used to fight in the SCA (quite well, if I may say so myself), my avatar is of me in 60+ pounds of armor, beating a guy who had 20 more years experience than me.

When I got married, I moved from California to a tiny town in Utah (about 150 people), where it's much quieter and a good place to raise a family.

I design games and write stories, but haven't had any interest in getting anything published.

I play everything from Advanced Squad Leader to Flash Point, from Arkham Horror to Zombies!!! If it's a game, I'll try it.

Now I'm the librarian for the town I live in, and trying to boost the amount and quality of books we have there. So anyone who has books they want to donate, let me know.

Where to find me? I have a Facebook account under my name, as well as belonging to several groups. Right now, a good place to spot me (okay, so it's a plug), is at www.brycecon.com, or the Facebook group and Twitter for BryceCon. Wanting to bring some organized gaming to Southern Utah, I negotiated with one of the hotels I work for, and this upcoming January will be the first BryceCon convention.

And that pretty much sums it up.

I'm Jamie, I'm 27, and I've never commented before so this seems like a decent way to introduce myself. I'm an English teacher in Shanghai, China, and spent way too much time during the day browsing geeklists and using the school's resource room to translate games/make player aids/make pnp games.

I got into board gaming last year, and since then I've been slowly converting my friends and coworkers. I started with the light stuff, when a friend had a bootleg copy of Settlers, and that led to some more gateway games like Pandemic, Dixit, and Resistance. After Resistance, it's been a dark slide into addiction. I've started to move everyone onto the harder stuff, like City of Remnants and Galaxy Truckers. Just last week we hit rock bottom: I finally organized a round of Game of Thrones, in a 6-hour scene that would make Hubert Selby Jr. blush.

People can reach me on Google+plus.google.com/114646657866641604528or at my blog Travel Wrong: travelwrong.blogspot.com It's the funny, jaded, stupid story of the time I went to every country in Southeast Asia. It's full of stuff like how to eat the still-beating heart of a cobra, or getting so stoned I thought I was a dog and ran around with some street dogs as their alpha, or seeing Komodo Dragons and getting the worst sunburn doctors had ever seen.

I plan to finish writing it around summer, and then start a new blog about board gaming in China. Reviews of good language neutral games, how to buy them on Taobao, etc. I'm also considering trying my hand at designing a game, but I'm a pretty lazy dude in general so we'll see how that pans out.

My main claim to fame on the Geek is making what seems to be the most popular version of a Mage Knight Board Game Vassal module currently available, with about 200 users that I know of. Given that it's also available from the Vassal site I'm hoping there are many more users out there enjoying the game too.

I also enjoy designing and making board game components, with Blood bowl cubed, a chiselled Hive and a Laputa-themed Love Letter being the ones I'm most proud of.

When I'm not playing board games I try to spend as much time as possible bouldering and climbing, though mostly just at a local gym that I pay for unlimited access to.

I've toured the whole of Japan on a motorbike, from Hokkaido to Okinawa.

I've travelled a sizeable chunk of South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia over about 2 years, backpacking and living like a hobo.

I've been lucky enough to do all of the above with the company of my lovely wife, Hozumi, who has been brave enough to abandon everything she knows and accompany me on my travels.

I make a living translating patents and patent-related communications from Japanese to English, which isn't fun but is at least challenging and pays the bills.

We've settled now in Osaka, and I game mostly with the JIGGS Kansai group, who are a very nice bunch of gamers.

Hello, my name's Tom Beach I'm 19 and from lyneham in Wiltshire, England. I'm a student at the moment studying Music at the university of Bristol.

I'm relatively new to the hobby, I started properly getting into it myself the christmas before last when I bought 7 wonders for my family (hence the geeklist item), though we had had many games before that, mainly days of wonder ones. I'm primarily into Euro games, though happy to try most things though not a big fan of co-ops, perhaps this stems from a competitive family gaming atmosphere!

As I said I'm a music student, Voice is my first study instrument, though I also play trumpet and have a okish grasp of piano and guitar.I obviously play board games, both face to face (mainly with my family) as well as online via yucata and board game arena with the handle 'beachy148' so who knows you may have played against me! My other hobby is sport, I play cricket and love rugby and football, I'm a staunch Norwich city and Bath Rugby supporter.

At the moment I have absolutely no idea what i want to do after uni, but as I'm only in my first year I figured that it can wait, I have plenty of time to decide.

I'm very active on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/tom.beach.568 so feel free to add me, I always like meeting new people! Especially give me a shout if you're in the Bristol area, it'd great to come and game with you.

I love movies as well. I studied film in college. I found that I enjoyed writing at the same time. I write on a blog under the name dren77. My friends and I write sci-fi short stories in the vein of Twilight Zone, early EC comics and golden age Sci-fi from monthly mags. http://phoenixtails.wordpress.com/

I have also GM'd a RPG with the same group of guys for near a decade. That is pretty astounding to me. I love the BGG community. It is honestly the best on the web. Thank God it's not blocked at work.

And what become of her new straw hat that should have come to me?

I am 41 years old and my claim to fame is that I've stuck by my wife for 18 years. I feel really silly saying that, but there's nothing else about me that's special as far as I can see: I have a modest professional life which I work at to pay off my mortgage. I drive my daughter to school, dance practice, etc. I've always been a good swimmer, having also trained with the varsity team in my university days and manage to get back in the pool once a week.

The part about my wife is interesting because 10 years into our marriage she had a nervous breakdown and has since been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. Yup... she's the real deal. Government agencies spy on us constantly, other people take over our bodies and read our minds and tell us what to do, and she hears voices that range from simple echoes of her own thoughts, narratives of her actions, or outright commands/insults.

I've felt like giving up so many times! I'm writing this because I'm not alone. There are so many real world heroes out there that need to celebrate their successes. Like I said, I feel silly broadcasting myself this way, but I want to live in a world where caregivers and survivors are excited about waking up everyday to do the awesome things they do. That's me. I'm awesome!

You can't really find me anywhere else than BGG. I creep on facebook and twitter, but I actually contribute on BGG. I've got a geeklist of some video reviews I used to do and I've blogged a bit about my wife.

I'm Erin (I'm a guy, it's just spelled that way) and I'm just north of Detroit, Michigan in the US. I work as a computer programmer for Ford Motor Company.

I build models (mostly 1/48 scale airplanes but I have done ships and a few tanks in the distant past). I design large-scale puzzle games for friends and co-workers (the Cryptic Crawl), as well as local versions of reality shows such as The Amazing Race, Survivor, and The Mole. Many of these games have been filmed and DVDs given to the participants. I started in 2002 and this year we're doing the eighth Amazing Race and the fourth Survivor. There's a geeklist about them here: Games Too big For a Board
But there is more detail (and links to videos, etc.) here: http://home.comcast.net/~espark71/erinprojects.html

I have put up some very well-received geeklists here and a few player-aids, including a Turbo-Tax-like program to help players play Europe Engulfed.

I am on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/erin.sparks.58 where you can see photos of my models but you probably have to add me as a friend, first.
