The auction was a little different this year. Organizationally it was smoother than ever, and Aaron was as entertaining is ever. There were, I guesstimate, fewer games than usual, and people seemed to agree there were more buyers than usual (though it felt less crowded to me). Supply and demand kicked in and prices were much higher than in the past. I bought fewer games, but my garage is full so I only wanted good games this year, not a big pile of things that might be interesting.

I didn't keep close track of my sales, but I got $45 for The Cities Game, Afrika Korps, Knights, and a couple of the BattleTech book games (a la Lost Worlds), which is pretty good.

My son also got Horus Heresy for $31, so we'll see how that is.

Six games, down from twenty one last year. But that's okay, I'm really looking forward to playing these. (And I haven't tried out all of the games I bought last year anyway).

I have played this a few times at Endgame and really like it, so this was a good buy at $21. This is a neat worker placement game with tough goals and the theme is wonderfully integrated. I hope to get a lot of use out of this copy. It was in near perfect shape, too.

I had been thinking about this one pretty seriously anyway, so I was willing to go all the way to $31 for an in-shrink copy. Not a steal, but a good buy nonetheless. I've had one chance to play it since and liked it. Some people are concerned about dice-poaching, but that cuts both ways – you just need to make sure you have enough money.

$6. Looks like fun. I had no reason to buy this, but that's part of the fun of the auction.

This was a pretty sizable wargame, until Ogre Designer's Edition came along. I got this afterward in the "Auction Store" for its opening bid of $10. Partially because of the good looking map, and partially because some of the interesting game mechanics. Specifically, the way formations are handled. I may send this one on some day, but I do want to try it out.

I looked at this in the auction store and the back of the box looked dull so on I went. Several people picked it up and told me it was a great game, so I finally bought it for $5. Hard to go wrong. Dull colors, but I like the idea that you have to sell your markets to get VPs to buy more markets. It's sort of a network game, but it's also a buy-it-improve-it-sell-it game.

It was Aaron's endorsement that pushed be over the edge. He was thinking about buying it but couldn't remember if he had it. Looks like he doesn't, so I guess I stole the game from him. If I don't love it I can give it to him next year. If I try it by then, sometimes it takes a while to get to these games.

Another one from the Auction store. I looked at it. Bob looked at it Ron Plunk looked at it. There's a lot of good looking stuff in that box. I left it behind, but looked at it again Wednesday night. Walked away again. Then Sunday my resistance ran out and I bought it. It does look interesting, but I'm not sure about the gimmicked dice. When I'm playing a wargame I want to be in touch with the odds, not have them hidden from me by mechanisms meant to make it easier. Still, this could be fun, or I could use the models and boards for another system, because they're not bad. I am going to improve the paint jobs a little bit, though.
