Big Game Saturday™ Sessions List

April 25, 2014 - After canceling on Shawn's invitation earlier in the month, it was necessary to make amends.

That is how Big Game Saturday™: Atonement Friday edition came to be.

Joining Andy were Tim, Shawn, New Eric, Ian, CCW Scott, and Leif. Andy's daughters Kimmy and Ellie made a guest appearance for the final game of the evening.

While waiting for guests to arrive, Kimmy and Andy ran through a quick game of Ricochet Robots. After the first few people arrived, another round was started. But then Shawn showed up, and since he hates this game so much, we quietly packed it up and deleted all the photos without finishing it.

Once everyone showed up, Andy, Shawn and New Eric sat down for a replay of Myrmes, which they played at GameStorm. Joining them was newbie Tim. They also included the expansion Myrmes: Colony Tiles.

Andy warned Tim about jumping for the objectives too early, as it can be hard to recover from the loss of ant nurses. But he did it anyway. Given the terrain and prey tokens that came out near his starting position, Tim should have thought about a soldier strategy, but I guess sometimes you just need to learn the lessons the hard way.

Andy managed to eke out a close win over Shawn with 56 points to Shawn's 54, focusing mostly on getting his high value pheromone tiles down. New Eric wasn't too far behind with 46; he used a lot of soldiers and killed a lot of prey. Tim ended with 38.

Ian brought his latest favorite game, Terra Mystica and convinced CCW Scott and Leif to join him.

Then he used his Chaos Magicians to clobber them with 123 points. CCW Scott's Swarmlings managed only 99, and Leif's Alchemists apparently could only turn lead into paperweights and thus only mustered 81 points.

While waiting for the Terra Mystics to finish, New Eric chose to play Latin Bingo.

Tim somehow managed to get a bunch of purple provinces down that individually scored a billion points. But after rounding, he ended up with only 64, which is still a lot. He won handily over the others.

Andy finished second with 49, New Eric scored 40 and Shawn forgot to yell Augustus and ended with a very sad score of 30.

Ellie and Kimmy were downstairs playing Kingsburg, but when they heard we were playing One Night Ultimate Werewolf, they wanted to join in. This game scales really well, so nine players was a good number.

In the first game, Eric was a werewolf, but the villagers correctly figured it out and lynched him for the win.

In game two, Eric was a werewolf again, and with Kimmy as the other werewolf, they avoided getting lynched and won.

In the third game, Tim managed to get lynched as the Tanner, and thus won all by himself.

And in the final game of the evening, Kimmy did a masterful job of tricking everyone into killing her. As the minion, she won the game for herself and the two werewolves, Leif and Ellie.
