This is a great convention. It is an hour drive for me so no flight needed.

This is the third year for DTC and the third year I have attended with my family.

I had a great great time this year and played mostly new "to me" games.

This con is very layed back. Everyone I meet was friendly and accommodating to new players of a game.

This isn't a new game but one that has been on my play list since I hear about it. I was very surprised how good this is. It is for sure a Euro with a worker placement aspect that does provide some user interaction. Voting on the laws and how that affects your score is very interesting.

My whole family liked this and we played it a second time. Well, we played it 2.5 times cause it was a library game and we had to return it on Sunday before we finished.

This one is an 8 out of 10.

This one is now on my to buy list.

This is an interesting resource management game with a tile laying aspect. you decide what city you build a building in based on what color bricks you use to build it. You also decide when to score either certain types of buildings or score a whole city. But, you can only do each once, and you are competing with the other players wrt scoring cities.

A good game I would rate 7 (which is where I rate most games I like.)

I don't get to play this game much, so I play it at DTC every year.

This is the grand daddy of Euros I think. It has been around a long time but still holds up very well. You have to really budget your money and actions and resources (meetings and media markers) while trying to plan for future elections and also doing well in the current election.

I was happy to teach 4 people that have never played the game. The more Die Macher players in the world, the better.

This is a new Uwe Rosenburg game that I think is highly under rated. This was my favorite game of the con. The game isn't difficult to play once you learn the rules, but there is quite a lot of replay ability here.

Oh, and there are no people to feed.

This is an 9 out of 10 and on my to buy list now.

This was a prototype from Arcane Wonders. It will be the first of the Dice Tower series of games (I think first). Tom finds gems from other countries and brings them to the US.

This is a very very fun bluffing game. Each person is a merchant attempting to bring good into the city. They load their "cart" (it was a little bad) with goods (which are cards). There are 4 types of goods. There are also contraband items that you might try to get into the city. They are worth more points than the legit goods.

After you have each loaded your cart you in turn order tell the sheriff (which passes around the table each round) what is in your bag. The sheriff has to decide if you are telling the truth. If so, he lets you open your bag. You get all the goods you put into your bag. Of course, it is the sheriff's job to keep contraband from entering the city. So, if someone was lying the sheriff didn't do his job.

If the sheriff thinks you have contraband and opens your bag, and you don't, he pays you some gold (points). If he find contraband you pay him a fine and only the legit goods that you declared get through.

The game is pretty open, any player can bribe the sheriff to let stuff through, or to open someones bag... and everyone I played with had a great time.

This is a game about mining for coal. There is a work placement aspect where you decide if you want to get money, or do some mining, or get a new contract to fulfill. You really have to plan what you are doing. There is a good level of strategy packed into 60-90 minutes of play.

Another good strong game I would rate 7 of 10.

Some people were looking for a teacher for this one. So, I agreed to teach and play the game. We only played through Age 1, but it was a great time and I made some new friends. And that's a win.

I have been wanting to play this since I heard about it. A quick game that reminded me of For Sale. But it is a bit deeper than that because there are several sets you try to collect and there are some cards that let you manipulate how many points each set is worth.

A quick, light fun game, but still with interesting decisions. I would give this a 6.5 out of 10.

I really like Stephan Feld's Trajan and Castles of Burgandy. So, of course, I wanted to give this a play.

This is a game that is mostly about the cards more than the board. Each card have multiple uses, to get cash, or to get workers, or to build as a house or to recruit a personality. I know I played it pretty poorly but I had fun.

Another 7 out of 10 rating.

I didn't play this one, but I taught it to a group.

This is a game that has similar mechanic to Egizia in that as you are collection resources you can only place your disks (workers) further along the dock from your last placement. Once you have collect your resources for the voyage you go out and sail and collect your point by invading cities and forts and fighting spanish galleons. (well, fight sounds exciting but you just discard enough cannons and you've won.)

This game is ok. A 6 out of 10 for me. I much prefer Egizia which I think I have rated and 8 of 10.

I was very excited to play this game. I'm not sure of the theme, basically you are playing for points. You start by selecting a set of 3 dice which you use with your workers. The higher the number of the die, the more positions you can use it for. You do have the ability to enhance the value of the die, so it really doesn't hurt that much.

There are several paths to victory here, and a lot it going on. I will say, for me it didn't live up to the hype though. But, I would like to give it another play now that I have an idea how it plays.

At this point I'd rate it 6 out of 10.

If you hadn't played Splendor at DTC, you are in the minority. I saw this game being played all the time.

It is a simple abstract game of collecting gems, and using them to buy cards which give you more buying power so you can by more cards which have points on them so you can collect the correct sets to get a noble which gives you points.

So, it's mostly a race to 15 points. It's quick, easy to teach filler. I played it with my two kids, twice in a row at like 2 AM on Saturday night. I think the components make it more loved than the mechanics. But, for all these reasons I rate it 7 out of 10. (yea shocking)

This was my top 3 game of the con. Along with Lancaster and Glass road.

The theme is, well you are sewing dresses for people going to the kinds ball, or something like that.

The action selection is very clever. It is "sort of" deck building. You have cards and you select 3 cards that will be your actions for that round, and you put the other 3 cards (you start with 6) in your "draw" pile.

After the first round you pick up 3 cards from your deck (you can select any 3 you want) and then you discard the cards you played. During the game you can buy more cards, they are basically called employees.

The cards have different levels from master to apprentice and you need a master to sew certain dresses and the apprentice can't sew a dress at all, so you use them to collect materials mostly.

A very fun game, easy to learn. My wife killed us all scoring like 20 more points than Scott, who had taught us the game and it was his second play and everyone else's first.

I'd give this on 8.5 out of 10 and it is on my to buy list.
