Hey all,

I'm pretty new to the more in-depth side of board games and I've been supporting some stuff on KS. I see that there are a lot of criticisms for that whole concept so I thought I'd start a list detailing my thoughts and experiences with the projects I have backed.

Companies who I will not buy products from ever again:

Artipia Games & Drawlab - Project Elite - miniatures terrible, mishandled the situation, all trust is gone.

Playroom Games - Unspeakable Words Deluxe - super late, no updates, terrible job

Petersen Games - Orcs Must Die! - focus always on the newest KS project, very few updates. Extremely disappointed.

Companies who I will not back on KS ever again:

Level 99 Games - Pixel Tactics Deluxe - too many KS running without filling previous ones, leading to things getting later and later. They did allow me to cancel my pledge late for a full refund so I appreciate the customer service.

Soda Pop/Ninja Division - They just seem to keep getting further and further behind and have yet to make any real progress. Kudos for offering refunds, but now the people who are asking for them are waiting weeks to months to hear anything. The only reason I would purchase from this company again is clearance deals because I love the figures. No game I've played of theirs has been worth the effort of learning it.

This is the project that drew my attention to more serious boardgames and the Kickstarter market for them.

Project by: Emergent Games
Funded: April 1, 2014
Projected delivery: October 2014
Updated delivery estimate after 2nd KS: May 2015
Backer level: EB Heavy Assault + add-ons
1st wave delivery: January 4, 2016
2nd wave delivery: January 13, 2017

Thoughts: I wish they did some more frequent updates. I have no idea where this project is right now, but I don't have much faith in it hitting the delivery date. According to the last updates they are still putting the finishing touches on the balance of some monster cards.

I'm still super stoked to get this game whenever it comes. The miniatures look very cool and the gameplay videos made me think the game has some appeal.

*edit 7/27/15* Still no game and from the last update it has not even been put on a boat yet. There have been a couple of updates showing enemy groups and previewing some of the cards, which are pretty awesome. The thing is at this point I feel like they should be doing more of them. This game is super late and still not even on the horizon for delivery yet, missing several dates we were given. They seem to have been up front about everything and the latest delay was caused by a production error which would have been super aggravating had it been shipped out without a fix. I haven't given up on this game or company, but I would be very hesitant to support them with as much money as I did this time around.

*edit 11/30/15* This game has been broken into two waves with no idea on the second wave. The first wave is on the boat and should be hitting port on the west coast on 12/8. The delays are really annoying with this game. By the time I get it I won't have anyone to play it with. The company has been pretty good with communication though. They seem to be in the comment section at least every couple days and do big updates when they figure out something big.

*edit 1/6/16* The game arrived on Monday and I've been able to play 4 games so far. I really like the game so far and even though the wait sucked Emergent Games did things right. They let us know about problems ahead of time, for the most part, and delivered a high quality product. The miniatures are pretty awesome, all the cardboard seems to be high quality. I'm now looking very much forward to getting Wave 2, hopefully it will be a smoother process.

*edit 5/5/16* Wave 2 was supposed to be arriving to backers this month/early June, but there have been more delays. According to the latest update there are still some monsters cards and maps that need to be finished. I'd guess somewhere between 60-75% of wave 2 is complete. The newest quote is a "few more weeks" until the product leaves the factory then shipping, customs, and order building. Order building will not be quick with as many options as there were on this campaign so I'd guess anywhere from 11-16 more weeks until product arrives (4 more in factory, 4 in transit, 2 for customs processing, and 1-5 more for order sorting/shipping).

This game has been a lot of fun and the components have been high quality for sure, but the delays have really added up and have drained a lot of my enthusiasm to see the final product.

*edit 7/1/16* There was another issue with wave 2 and it got pushed back. Apparently some figures were flawed, it was caught and they decided to fix them all instead of send some stuff out and deal with the repercussions. Hopefully that is the last issue and we got our stuff soon.

*edit 8/24/16* Still no update on when the second wave will be shipping. This project has moved into the category of I just want it to be over. I'm not ready to say I won't support this company ever again, as they are trying to keep communication open and honest, but man I just want my stuff. I may be moving early next year and would hate to have to deal with an address change on a project this old.

*edit 10/12/16* This project is supposed to get loaded onto the ship at the end of this month. Hopefully that happens and I get the rest of my content without any more unexpected problems. Even though this project is ridiculously late, I'm more inclined to give them leeway due to the updates. There could have been more info at times, but when there was problems backers were informed of what they were and how they were being fixed. It helps to keep me interested and understanding about the delays and seems to do that for a lot of other backers as well.

*edit 12/28/16* The creators have really dropped the ball on communication. The closer this gets to delivering it seems like the less they are around to communicate. The ships should have unloaded and shipping was supposed to begin last week for pretty much the whole world, but no one is reporting anything. I have a tracking number from UPS for something, but I don't know if it's the rest of my pledge or not. They also said they would start doing some model previews and such while the products were in transit and never followed through with that. It seems that you should be very active at the end of a project, that's when lots of questions are going to be getting asked.

*edit 1/31/17* I received both shipments from Wave 2. Man, that is a lot of stuff. I got this to the table with my family game group and they all seemed to really enjoy it so I'm looking forward to including some of the new stuff in our next game. Components all look good though I really need to make sure everything arrived.

I really like the art and miniatures on this game. The play style of PvPvE is also something I'm excited to try out.

Project by: CoolMiniOrNot
Funded: March 16, 2014
Projected delivery: September 2014
Backer level: Guildmaster +tokens and expansion
Project delivery: 10/23/2014

Thoughts: The majority of the updates on this game have been showing off painted versions of the minis. While that is cool for fluff updates, I would love to know how the production is going. I don't think CMON has a record of delivering on time and I won't be surprised if this is a mid to late 2015 arrival.

Post delivery thoughts: I believe there were a few backers who did actually receive this at the end of September, but it took almost a month to ship out to just the US. I know the Canada backers have been receiving their items as well, but EU/ROW are looking at another month or two.

The quality of this game is amazing. All the components are well done and I'm really glad I got all the plastic tokens. I was able to meet up with someone else locally who got their copy a couple weeks before me and we played an entire 2-player campaign. The game is a lot of fun and it sucks that I'm going to be working OT for the next couple weeks and won't have a chance to play. Really looking forward to getting a chance to sit down and get some paint on these guys.

I will back future CMON projects with very little hesitation if I am interested in what they are offering.

This is a game I had never heard of before backing Arcadia Quest and hearing about it in the comments. I love the art style and the dungeon crawl aspect, especially with the fully co-op that is supposed to be included with this version.

Project by: Soda Pop Miniatures
Funded: April 16, 2014
Projected delivery: December 2014
Backer level: Always Super with add-ons
Project delivered: Wave One: April 7, 2015
Wave Two: August 7, 2015

Thoughts: I really like how Soda Pop has run this campaign after it funded. At least once a month they do a massive update including what stage they are with all the various models and cards in terms of production. They are also slowly revealing hero/monster cards, new models as they are done, and other things. This is pretty much perfect so that I feel like I know where the project is and am keeping a high level of excitement to see it delivered.

My thoughts on the handling of this KS have changed pretty drastically as it has gone on. Apparently there are Asian backers who have yet to receive Wave 1 (July 2015) and everyone else seems to be getting Wave 2. In the US some packages were sent out as COD so there are people who are having to either pay, or refuse the items and have the resent. SPM has admitted to this mistake and is reimbursing anyone who does actually pay the fee, but it sucks. Apparently the Deeproot Wolf Rider had it's sculpt changed fairly dramatically (pack saddle and such removed leaving a large void on the back of the model) and there was no notice and after almost 2 weeks of people asking and commenting there has been no real reason for the change given. There was also an issue with the EU DCs not getting enough Emerald Valley Warbands and people not getting theirs. Again no official word from SPM on this issue, they have just replied to a few specific emails and word has trickled through the KS system.

I also played a solo game of the arcade mode, which I was the most excited about and it was decidedly....meh. I will try it again a few more times at some point to see if familiarity improves the game experience, but right now I own this because I like the figures and will use them for painting. I am also figuring out how to do a homebrew campaign type thing I can play with my 4 y/o daughter.

*Edit 7/27/15* I emailed SPM support about not getting anything and have been told my stuff is on "backorder" and will be sent out whenever they get more in. How is stuff that I ordered almost a year ago on backorder? They should have known exactly how many units were needed. There at least a few other people facing the same issue plus all of the people in EU regions that were shorted a warband, but at least they got something. If SPM is selling these items at GenCon this weekend it will be a huge issue for me. They were top notch with updates throughout the campaign, but that was apparently just to put shiny things in front of backers faces so they could hide all the problems they are having. Pretty shady job and I'm glad I didn't actually go into Ninja All-Stars for more than $1. It will take a lot for me to trust them enough to back anything they do again.

*edit 7/31/15* The latest update from SPM says that all stuff should be shipped to US backers by Tuesday next week. The term backorder should not have been used, what they meant is product got sent to the wrong places and it took longer to organize than it should have. I still feel that their customer service emails were dismissive, especially since they closed my tickets without anything close to resolution. I will just have to wait and see if I get a shipping notice last week.

*edit 8/7/15* My missing pieces arrived. There was no tracking info due to some kind of error at SPM. Everything seems to be in order. Still people in various countries who have not received Wave 2 and some people still looking for Wave 1 from what I saw in the comment section. I haven't lost all faith in SPM's ability to deliver on KS, but it is shaken and I will have to think long and hard about supporting any project from them in the future.

*edit 8/26/15* There were actually several broken pieces in my warbands plus the broken squirrel from wave 1. I sent an email to their customer service on 8/16 and haven't gotten a response yet. I'm not super worried as of right now, as the last update said broken pieces were the lowest thing on their priority list with people who are missing orders/pieces getting priority treatment. I will wait another week or two before trying to get a hold of someone again.

*edit 9/23/15* Took three weeks to get a response from SodaPops CS. They have created an order in their store that is supposed to be my items, but it is not itemized and I have no idea when these will actually ship.

*edit 11/30/15* I got all my replacement parts (several weeks ago) though the wrong ones were sent twice before I got everything correctly. I backed SDE: Legends because I really enjoy the models and hope the campaign mode will add something to enjoy with my daughter. Really hoping that this next campaign will run a lot smoother.

This is a game I backed because I was looking for smaller, portable games. This seems like it could easily be played in a restaurant while waiting for food or at work on lunch.

Project by: Matthew D Riddle (Gryphon Games)
Funded: May 14, 2014
Projected delivery: November 2014
Backer level: 1 copy with SG
Project delivery: December 11, 2014

Thoughts: This project gets a small update about once a month. They generally are just saying that as of now things are on track for delivery. I'm not really sure how much more they could say with this game having a lot less parts than the others on the list.

This is another game I backed due to it's relatively small size. I'm hoping that this will be fairly easily portable as well. It doesn't hurt that I like the idea of the press your luck dice rolling games.

Project by: Travis (Indie Boards & Cards)
Funded: May 7, 2014
Projected delivery: August 2014
Backer level: single copy
Project delivery: August 16, 2014

Thoughts: This had the shortest fulfillment time of all the projects I've backed by far and it looks good for an on time delivery. According the the latest update it's currently on the boat due to hit US shores at the end of the week for mid to late August arrival for US backers. There was an issue with an special metallic ink that they wanted to use in the dice not working properly and that was explained in an update with an apology for it not being 100% as promised. Personally I see no issue with it, there were apparently visibility issues and I would rather have dice where I can see the faces.

A storytelling game with a bit of a twist ending seems like a fun thing so I backed this game. My family/game group has played Gloom a few times and the storytelling aspect can be fun if they are willing to really get into it.

Project by: Jolly Roger Games
Funded: May 15, 2014
Projected delivery: December 2014
Actual delivery: June 17, 2015

Thoughts: The game actually says delivery July 2014, but that was explained as an error in the first update. The updates on this one are mainly art reveals for more of the cards, though a rough timeline has been given. I don't have enough experience to have a feel for if this will be on time or not, but I'm not worried yet.

Final thoughts: The components for this game look good. Communication was pretty decent through the campaign even though there were a lot of delays. Jolly Roger was always very up front with what was going on and that helped to alleviate a lot of backer concern with the lateness of the game.

This was one of the first games I backed on KS and it was backed more for a low price point and I didn't really know much about what kind of games I even enjoyed at that point. If this were a new KS today, I would pass. Hopefully I can get this to the table a few times and have some fun with it though.

I actually picked up Castle Dice after seeing this KS project and it has become pretty popular at my game nights. This expansion looks like it will really make the game more interactive and fun.

Project by: Luke Peterschdmidt (Fun to 11 Games)
Funded: June 2, 2014
Projected delivery: December 2014
Actual delivery: December 2014

Thoughts: This one is looking good for before Christmas according to the updates. I may be the most excited about this due to the gradual reveal of the new cards in the Castle Deck for the game.

Final thoughts: This arrived near the end of the projected date due to a slight shipping delay from another game that the creator had going on. Components seem decent, but I haven't really looked at the cards all that closely yet. I really like the fact that the 4 different decks are all themed. Castle Dice hasn't hit the table in a while since my nephew doesn't like it, but with this rework we'll give it another try soon.

Finally played a two player game with the new castle decks this past weekend. My wife and I really enjoyed how the new specialized decks added to the game. She picked both decks since she didn't have any knowledge on any of the cards and ended up with the merchant deck, I got the farmer deck. Farmer deck suits the way I usually play the game, merchant was about the worst deck she could get. Still had a great time and want to play this more.

I've played this a couple more times with 3-4 players and really enjoy the difference that this deck brings. It would get played a lot more, but my nephew doesn't like the game so we pretty much only play it if he is not around for games.

I kind of got swept up in the KS fever for this game. I got in at an EB level that comes with a free set of sleeves for the game, and went as far as making a P&P copy to test it out. I like the game and think it has a lot of potential, just hoping my family likes it enough to play.

Project by: Michael Mindes (Tasty Minstrel Games)
Funded: July 17, 2014
Projected delivery: March 2015
Project delivered: February 2, 2015

Thoughts: In the updates they have admitted that March was a bit far out of a goal and they are really pushing to hit December. The art got done ahead of schedule and things are looking good right now. This is another company that sent a pretty detailed timeline (and the projects been funded for less than a week) so hopefully they keep up this level of information.

Final thoughts: The game seems like it has decent quality components and the sleeves seem pretty decent. The box is barely big enough to hold everything without sleeving the cards though so I'm sure it'll be a tight fit with sleeves on. I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of having to put stickers on the resource blocks and I'm not sure how well it will hold up in the long run.

The new custom meeples are pretty awesome and I really appreciated the fact that the threw in some of the promo items for Belfort (even though I don't have the game right now). I won't have any problems backing another TMG game when they have something I'm interested in.

I backed the Dwarven Forge caverns set for miniature gaming terrain.

Project by: Dwarven Forge
Funded: April 8, 2014
Projected delivery: November 2014
Backer level: 5 unpainted sets with a couple of addons.
Project delivered: November 5, 2014

According to the latest update from the company they should be sending out a few sets in mid-October to make sure their labeling system is running smoothly. If that goes well there is a good chance that this will arrive on time.

Final thoughts:

This was an extremely well run campaign. The project delivered on time with a lot of oversea backers getting their rewards around the same time as NA. The pieces seem to be very high quality and were packed pretty well. They seem to be durable so there were no issues with packaging.

I saw Coconuts and thought it looked like a ton of fun to play with my daughter. Then I saw this KS and took the opportunity to get the 5-6 player expansion and the original 4 player game.

Project by: Mayday Games
Funded: October 3, 2014
Projected delivery: November 2014
Backer level: Coconuts duo with Coconuts and a pack of extra coconuts.
Delivery date: January 13, 2015

I've read some pretty bad things about Mayday's kickstarters and I was hesitant to back this game. I'm hoping the fact that there is nothing original to this will eliminate some of the difficulties, but if I have to wait a bit longer I'll just deal with it. My daughter seems to be super excited about this game and whenever we get it will be a good time.

Final thoughts:
I decided to add an extra pack of coconuts using the Mayday store after the KS had ended and those were not included with my shipment today. I've emailed their support and hopefully it will get resolved quickly. The coconuts and monkeys are awesome and the cups seem sturdy. The cards and player boards are super flimsy. The cards are by far the worst I've seen in any game that I own, luckily they are fluff for the game and not really necessary, the player boards could definitely be higher quality though.

Heard back from Mayday customer support in right about 24 hours. My missing item is in the mail on the way to me right now. Pretty impressive turnaround on that.

There are several backers in the comments who have still not received games even though Mayday has announced several times that all games shipped out and should have arrived by now. The honesty of their updates seems to be highly questionable.

This game looks pretty interesting and I've looked at various versions of it a few times in the past. Getting the game with 3 small expansions and a whole slew of promo cards convinced me to pull the trigger.

Project by: David B Talton Jr. (Level 99 games)
Funded: January 11, 2015
Projected delivery: June 2015
Backer level: Deluxe Tactician Pack, PT Deluxe with play mat and all stretch goals.

**Update** Not a fan of how this game is being handled at all. After the games funded there were monthly updates that contained a little info, but mostly were previewing their next project. It feels to me like this game is an established IP that they knew would fund without much effort and they have totally focused on their new stuff. Also the June (the month we were originally estimated for delivery) update contains news that the project is now expected to be 3-4 months late.

The lateness isn't a huge deal, but waiting to announce the delay until after your next projects funding has completed and in the month delivery was expected is bullsh*t. I like the concept of the game and maybe it will be fun, but I really regret getting on board with this one.

*edit 8/26/15* The latest update is yet another small amount of info on Pixel Tactics, now late November is the goal to start shipping, and a huge graphic announcing their NEW Kickstarter project. It also has a snippet about a different project getting fulfilled, oh and here's the link to buy that game as well. Apparently backing a KS from this company is pretty much just another way to join their mailing list.

*edit 11/30/15* I was given a full refund for this project. As I said in my other updates, I don't enjoy the way this company communicates. I have no issues with the company and will possibly pick up a copy of Pixel Tactics at some point in the future. I will not be backing anything else by them on KS.

Tiny Epic Galaxies looks like it will be a great game. I backed out of Tiny Epic Defenders at the last minute to back Harbour instead. This seems like the mechanics will be right up my alley.

Project by: Gamelyn Games
Funded: February 7, 2015
Projected delivery: September 2015
Backer level: Single Deluxe copy of the game
Actual delivery: September 23, 2015

I just got this in the mail today so I don't have gameplay feedback. This campaign was run well, there weren't tons of updates, but the game arrived on time and all the big events were noted. Plenty of pictures of production elements during the process.

I have no issue backing something from Gamelyn Games and am looking forward to the campaign to Tiny Epic West to see what it has to offer.

I've been looking at worker placement games for quite some time and the theme on this one is absolutely top notch. The components look great and the campaign was run well. I have high hopes for an on time delivery of an amazing game.

Project by: Mindclash Games
Funded: Feb 28, 2015
Projected delivery: October 2015
Backer level: Legend Box
Project fulfilled: December 11, 2015

*edit 11/30/15* This has been in the states for a couple of weeks now. Apparently the fulfillment company Mindclash used is not capable of handling this kind of volume and has fallen way behind their quote. Hopefully this will ship by the end of the week to arrive before Christmas.

This game is a lot of fun and look great. It really eats table space though. I've gotten a few plays in with a buddy and hopefully I'll be able to get a few more before the holidays are over and he heads back out of state. This game is probably a bit too heavy for me to play with my family gaming group.

My family has been talking about doing a monthly gaming get together and I think this game would be perfect for the group.

Project by: Playroom Entertainment
Funded: Feb 20, 2015
Projected delivery: August 2015
Backer level: Deluxe edition
Delivered: October 29, 2016
*edit 8/18/15* There have been very few updates containing next to no information. I have no idea when this will arrive, but it will certainly not be in August. They blamed Con season as part of the reason for their silence and that just doesn't work for me. I know they are busy, but they collected a lot of money for this and should at least make an effort to keep backers informed of the situation. Playroom is going on the list of do not back again.

*edit 11/30/15* Still no real updates. Why is a game the is pretty much cards 4 months late? I don't know because Playroom doesn't actually include real info in their updates. They have now stated backers will receive a surprise bonus with our orders. It would be great if they would surprise us with a ship date. The last update left open the possibility the production has not even started. This company is ridiculous and I will not buy anything from them ever again.

*edit 4/12/16* Despite apparently having a box to show off at GAMA I'm still not sure this game has even begun production yet. There has yet to be an update that contained any kind of real information and Playroom makes them all backer only so no one who is not involved can see how terrible they are at handling these things. They are now saying expect May/June ship date, I wonder how they can continue to push false dates when they are already 9 months past estimated delivery and PRODUCTION STILL DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE STARTED.

*edit 8/24/16* This is supposed to be hitting port the first week of September, but they have totally ignored requests for a vessel name or any real info. This project is the worst I have backed and I will not be supporting this company in any way in the future. Mistakes happen, not a huge deal, but refusing to communicate makes things exponentially worse.

*edit 10/12/16* Games have arrived at backers homes. Playroom can't give an estimate on how long it will take to ship everything, despite having been involved with it for over a week now. Shouldn't be that hard to estimate how many packages can go out a day and figure how long it will take to ship it all. There are not a lot of people reporting the game arriving so maybe they are only shipping 20-30 a day and don't want to admit to it.

*edit 11/1/16* I finally got this game. It has absolutely not been worth the wait. The components are decent enough, but there is no reason it should have taken as long as it did. I'm done with Playroom and will avoid Ultra Pro since they decided to acquire the company.

Another Dwarven Forge KS, this time for buildings and such.

This campaign had soooo many add-ons that I felt a bit overloaded and only stuck to a pretty small pledge.

Project by: Dwarven Forge
Funded: April 2, 2015
Projected delivery: January 2016
Backer level: Hamlet + roof pack
Project delivered: January 2016

Hopefully this will fulfill as flawlessly as the caverns set did.

*edit 5/5/16* My daughter doesn't seem to enjoy these as much as she did the caverns, but they are pretty nice pieces. I wish the walls fit a little better and the dressing for the windows weren't as much of a hassle, but it was a lofty goal for a project and for the most part it was pulled off.

The figures for this game really intrigue me. I love the art style and the fact that they can integrate with SDE. I just don't really think the gameplay of this one is for me. I'm debating if I will up my pledge for the pledge manager and get a few things without going all in.

*edit* I ended up picking up a set of the generic minis in the PM. They look fun to paint and my daughter can have a blast with the cool ninja figures.

Project by: Peterson Games
Funded: May 2, 2015
Projected delivery: February 2016
Backer level: Order + boss and skull pack
Project received: December 1 2016

Honestly I will probably go all in for this game and get both Order and Unchained. That will give me more stuff and let me use the Unchained set as a present for someone, or just give me more variety.

*edit 11/30/15* Petersen Games has been added to the "do not support on KS" list. They haven't really done much with updates and rumors are that this game will be delayed. Supposedly they announced it on the CW2 campaign. If that is true it horrible management and I really hope that it is not. They have launched 2 KS projects since this one funded (3 if you count the one that cancelled and relaunched) and it seems that the only focus on the most recent project. Lack of communication is really something that irritates me with KS projects. There are companies who do weekly or bi-weekly updates. There is no reason to go two months plus with nothing.

*edit 4/21/16* The new delivery date is "hopefully" GenCon. It's frustrating that it doesn't even seem that production began before the delivery date originally stated on the campaign. I realize they have some issues due to the IP and dealing with the OMD computer team, but this has gotten a bit ridiculous. There was a brief stint of more communication, but it's gone back to pretty much silent now. There is even a thread dedicated to asking questions to Sandy Peterson that has been abandoned here on BGG.

*edit 7/1/16* We are now looking at an October delivery. I really wish that there was a constant communication. There were some teaser cards dropped on BGG, which was very cool, but hasn't really been followed with anything.

*edit 8/24/16* Communication continues to be terrible. Arthur is supposed to be in China right now so hopefully we get some news soon, but I don't have high hopes. If this was being loaded on a ship Monday figuring 4-6 weeks transit 1-2 weeks customs and 1-2 weeks for fulfillment mid to late October is the best option. There are still a lot of variables in that so it could be better than I estimate, but Tiny Epic Western had a 9 week span from departure to estimated arrival at their fulfillment warehouse so I'm using the best basis I have.

*edit 10/12/16* October is off the table, but no update has been given. They have managed to lower the bar even further when it comes to letting backers know what is going on with the project. I'm glad I didn't go all in for this game. They ignore questions and on BGG, even in the thread that was started as a place to ask them things. I will not support this company in any way in the future.

*edit 11/1/16* This is supposed to be on the water with containers arriving 11/8 and 11/14. Petersen games is hoping the majority of US backers will have their stuff before Christmas, not sure about ROW.

*edit 12/2/16* The game has arrived. I changed what I had pledged for in the pledge manager to getting both sides of the base game instead of the boss pack. The figure quality is decent, not the greatest, not terrible. Everything else is pretty high quality. The insert is even pretty good, I'll do a few modifications to it for my own use, but a pretty solid design overall.

To play solo you have to use at least two characters, which is not my favorite thing. I got a game and a half in last night and there is a lot of potential. I'm really hoping that my family will enjoy it so it will get a lot of play. I'm debating keeping the "Unchained" version in shrink right now for sale value.

Project by: Artipia Games
Funded: May 25, 2015
Projected delivery: November 2015
Backer Level: Base Game and Adrenaline expansion
Project delivered: November 5, 2016

I like many other people was enticed into backing this game by Rahdo's runthrough. I don't have any real time action games in my collection and this one looks like a lot of fun. The figures also have a lot of potential so I'm hoping they live up to the images shown on the campaign.

*edit 10/13/15* This company is officially on the never back or buy anything from again. The miniatures are terrible. They released pictures and seemed surprised that everyone hated them and was mad so Artipia said it's DrawLabs fault. DrawLab promised more updates with painted pictures every day until Essen. There was one set of pictures released that did not answer any concerns. Artipia says the pictures are bad wait until Essen everyone will be happy. The pictures people who picked up at Essen posted actually look worse. There has been next to no official word on this project, only Rahdo saying he talked to the creator and things would be made right, no promises though.

Hopefully this project will remain the benchmark in things that I back going badly. We were supposed to get an update yesterday, but that didn't happen. At this point if a refund is offered I will be taking it. Too much money for the quality of figures they are trying to pass off. Though to be fair the other components are all supposed to be top notch and gameplay is solid. Pretty sure it will be possible to pick up the game for about 1/3 of what KS backers had to pay for it within a year though unless they really get the issues fixed.

*edit 10/30/15* This game continues to be a cluster. The creators have admitted their miniatures were terrible and they are working on a solution. There has been no real estimate on how long they expect things to take. The people who picked up the game at Essen really seem to be enjoying the gameplay, which is upsetting people who don't care about the miniatures and just want the game. They want the games now with an option to ship better things later or not at all. Artipia and DrawLab are still terrible at communication though there have been more comments recently than in the past. They just set a very low bar and multiple backers have gone to their credit card companies to get refunds due to losing all trust in the companies.

*edit 11/25/15* DrawLab is redoing the minis and pictures are showing a pretty good amount of improvement. Artipia has fully washed their hands of this project and are fully blaming everything on Drawlab. They also do not respond to anything on the KS page, but are perfectly happy to talk here on BGG about how they are the victims.

It's actually a bad enough KS project that KS has blocked them from starting their next project. I will never purchase another Artipia product again and will actively dissuade people I know from supporting them.

*edit 2/2/16* Crazy how an update and apology gets put out so a new campaign can get launched. There have been some updates showing pictures, and the miniatures have improved a decent amount. They still aren't at the level I was expecting, but at this point who cares. They also are adding some cards for an extra hard game mode as an apology for the issues. I've been so soured on this project that very little would make me regain any level of faith in it. I can't wait to get the game so I can decide what I'm going to do with it. Very frustrating situation.

*edit 4/26/16* This game has now arrived for sale in at least one UK based web store and, according to a comment on the project, a UK FLGS. I'm not sure if this means that the old copies with the subpar miniatures are being sold or what, but the latest update seemed to say there were 2 models still undergoing final tweaks and mass production was underway on the rest. Just for the record I did contact the webstore to confirm that they had product in hand, to ensure it was not a preorder, and was told they had one in stock and could probably get more soon.

*edit 7/1/16* Supposedly we are getting close to receiving games. There was another convention that allowed some people to get their pledges. This game has been in some people's hands since Essen 2015, including the people who were able to purchase it.

*edit 8/8/16* Another convention has gone by allowing people to pick up their copies of the game. According to the latest update the games should have left August 4 to ship to the UK, after which US packages will be sent to the US fulfillment center. An estimated time of arrival has not been provided due to DrawLab being in charge of this stage and being at Gencon. If this continues to follow the pattern of past updates the games will arrive to backers Nov/Dec.

Reviews are arriving and the gameplay is being well received so at least there is that to look forward to. I had a friend at GenCon and I asked him to look and let me know what he thought about the figures so I could get an opinion from someone I trust. I was told they look like crap. It looks like backers who were in this only for the game are getting something they have a good chance to enjoy. People who backed for the figures have a good chance of being pretty bitter about the whole experience. I backed it for both reasons, but the handling of things by the companies behind this has just left a bad taste in my mouth. This has done a great job in making me a lot more cautious of what I will back on KS.

*edit 8/24/16* People in Europe are starting to get tracking numbers and the boat to the US should have left. Still no details, but at least backers that didn't make it to conventions are starting to get their stuff. I can't wait to put this terrible KS behind me and hopefully at least have a decent game. Lessons learned.

*edit 10/12/16* There have been several dates promised as all copies should be in backers hands and that still hasn't happened. Updates have been promised and those haven't happened. People in the US are getting their games, I think Canada is still waiting for their stuff to arrive. At this rate everyone should receive there stuff by mid 2017. There also seem to be a high rate of errors in box packing, some are a missing figure or two, some are wrong or no dice, some have no cards. People are stating either same day response from Artipia and Drawlabs or posting that they sent email 2 weeks to a month ago and haven't heard back.

*edit 10/14/16* Drawlab has still not posted their promised update. They have made a few comments stating that they still have no idea whats going on and promising to update. Their lack of follow through for any promises if legendary and Artipia has passed the buck fully so no news from them.

*edit 10/18/16* Both companies are ignoring all questions. It seems that many backers are still waiting on pledges and they don't care. They aren't answering emails sent to their customer service accounts either by all accounts. It won't surprise me if they screwed up the number of packages that needed to be sent and are trying to avoid admitting yet another massive mistake was made on this campaign. Horrible job by both companies and if this is their level of competency with Kickstarter they should just avoid it in the future.

*edit 11/1/16* Still no game and no answer from Drawlab. They say something in the comment section about once a week about how all the games should be sent out. Strangely enough very few people believe them anymore, since they haven't made a true statement in close to a year. Still no response to the email I sent 3 weeks ago now about my missing pledge. Artipia continues to do nothing.

*edit 11/2/16* Received a response from Artipia telling me Drawlab told them a few more days all remaining packages would be sent out. Replied to try to get more information. Made a comment being a little bit positive that at least they responded to my KS message quickly. Received another response through the KS that included them being smart asses about my KS comment. These are the worst companies I have ever had to deal with, and I will encourage everyone to avoid any contact with them. Since "fulfillment" has started with the idiocy and lies employed in this campaign I have not even wanted to back anything else. I guess this project turned out to be an investment in making me really consider a KS campaign and will probably save me money in the long run.

Artipia again reached out to me through KS further explaining their comment. They did not intend to come across as smart asses so I will chalk that up to my frustration with the fulfillment of this leading me to misconstrue the intent of the message. I am trying to communicate with them to express my frustration with the entire process and how Drawlab is treating fulfillment.

*edit 11/7/16* I received my game with the base box and the expansion showing some damage. The corners on both of them look to have taken a bit of abuse, it's not horrendous, but it's disappointing to get a new game that is beaten up. The game boards are nice and thick and the cards seem decent. I got the sleeve pack so that shouldn't be an issue. I wish the insert would've had a bit more room for the cards so all of them could fit in the base box, but that minor as well.

The miniatures are awful. Some are better than others, but in general they are pretty terrible looking. I'm sure the game will be playable with them, but my interest in the game was peaked by having a lot of cool alien figures and that just didn't pay off.

Artipia did actually respond to my questions and sent a follow up to me today. Drawlab did nothing useful for pretty much the entire campaign.

The first legacy style game I have ever looked at, the concept and gameplay really caught me.

Project by: Isaac Childres
Funded: September 30, 2015
Projected delivery: May 2016
Backer level: 1 copy
Project delivered: January 29 2017

Isaac does a great job with his campaigns. He is very active and accepts feedback from his backers. There were several changes made due to backer suggestions. In the couple weeks since this project ended there have been several updates and hopefully that trend continues. Many people have a lot of good to say about his previous KS, Forge War, so I'm hoping he lives up to the hype.

*edit 4/11/16* This is how campaigns should be run. This project is going to deliver a bit later than originally estimated, but as soon as that was clear it was announced. There is a weekly update with some general information and usually some card/tile art. There are also updates on how to play the digital version of the game for testing purposes and updated rule books are released fairly regularly as well. This game has managed to keep a pretty good level of interest going since the KS closed and it's really starting to get amped up now with the preview of all the classes ability cards.

*edit 8/8/16* This game is getting closer and Isaac has kept up with regular updates. This constant support has led to this being my most anticipated KS game yet (the game also looks amazing and I've played around a bit on the tabletop simulator version). There are a lot of companies who could learn from this style of follow through. The amazing thing is, even with delays, people are totally understanding and supportive. Being open and honest with backers really cuts down on the amount of resentment in comments sections.

*edit 1/31/17* The game has arrived and taken the title for largest box in my collection. Wow. This is a huge box and the game has a lot of potential. I played a little bit of the first scenario last night with my daughter. She is only 6 so she just randomly grabbed cards and picked which on to use the top and which was the bottom. She did better than me. This game will have a fairly steep learning curve for me, but I'm really hoping my family likes it so we can get a regular campaign going.

This campaign was extremely well run and I will back a project from Isaac without any hesitation in the future.

Forgotten King still hasn't gotten much attention, but I do enjoy painting the figures and my daughter loves to set up little games and play them. Getting the extra tiles and everything else that comes with this will be worth it just for her having a lot more options for her adventures.

Project by: Soda Pop Miniatures
Funded: November 11 2015
Projected delivery: December 2016
Backer level: Dark Consul + add on

I had some issues with the first SDE KS and really debated getting involved in this one. The tipping point was the fact that although I had the issues and it wasn't the most efficient method, Sodapop did come through and make everything right in the end. I actually even just noticed last week some missing cards from one of the warbands and received the replacements this weekend.

*edit 8/9/16* Delivery has been pushed back to Spring 2017, so 3-5 months. The beta testing to get the game balanced is apparently much more involved than anticipated. I opted to not get the second edition of the base game, but will probably regret that as I'd like to have the real printed manuals, instead of printing out pdfs myself. At least that is how I understand things will work, it sucks to have backed both KS campaigns for this game and not get the good stuff though. I really want the Legends stuff to be good so I can start running my daughter through small adventures.

*edit 10/12/16* Rules are supposedly getting closer to being finished, but that's only for the classic mode. Arcade and Legends play will still need to be fixed before we get everything for this. Shipping has been announced in 2 waves to get people their items faster, but it may only be the second edition base box. I would love to get some material for the lite rpg aspect of this game so I can start to plan a campaign to take my 5 (soon to be 6) year old daughter through. Hopefully I will have all the material before she turns 7.

*edit 10/18/16* SPM seems to be ignoring Legends related questions/comments on the KS which is weird since it's what this KS was supposed to be about. Now it seems like they used this to get the money to do a total rule overhaul and Legends was just the tacked on excuse. I know the figures will be quality when I get them, but this campaign seems really focused on things that weren't covered at all (that I remember) during the entire active campaign time. Great way to get people interested enough to do a bunch of your playtesting work while you try to fix the game your last KS wrecked though. I'm glad my daughter loves these figures so we can still get use out of all of them regardless of the ruleset provided. Pretty terrible way to do a campaign at this point though.

*edit 11/1/16* I asked a simple question about the art of the Legends tiles. Will it vary to match the tilesets from all the regions or is it just made for the base set. I was told that some decisions aren't made and some cannot be revealed. What kind of an answer is that? The original date for delivery is next month, but they can't even tell me how a tile is supposed to look. The beta testing for Arcade is supposed to start soon, so probably another 2-3 months working on that and then they may deal with Legends or go to the additional play modes for classic. I know the game will come and what I get will look great, but they need to plan their stuff out a lot better. At least the attempt communication.

*edit 4/9/17* Latest update from SPM includes the news that Legends is 0% progress to completion. It also mentions that other projects funded well after this one are getting priority at the printers. There will also now be three waves of shipping apparently, but no real news was included about that.

Seriously, the game is 4 months late right now and 0% done with Legends content. We have been told since the brought in a real designer to try to fix the rules that Legends was a separate project and was getting done at the same time as all the other testing. Now they have stayed that they haven't even tried to make any progress and it's disgusting. If it wasn't some kind of terrible miscommunication they have a lot of explaining to do.

*edit 4/13/17* Another update was posted roughly 48 hours after the one stating 0% done on Legends. That was apparently a mistake, though how you can let that get through proof reading and then not say anything for 2 days is pretty crazy.

The new updates says that the Legends they thought they were going to do didn't work in their internal testing and they had to start over. They need to have feedback from beta testing before they can write the campaigns or finish the enemy guide. The world building book is supposedly mostly written and just waiting for art. Why is the art not done? The rules should have 0 effect on that and since that book is filled with fluff information there is no reason it shouldn't have been the first thing finished.

Depending on how thoroughly they plan on beta testing the campaigns it could be several months for that to happen. That will then be followed by more time passing while rules are finalized and layouts for the books are finalized. There is also the issue of art for the tiles being done.

*edit 12/19/17* I got a refund for this product and am done with Sodapop and Ninja Division. They have run this terrible and while they are pretty good about always posting something, the things that they posted for a while were very misleading. I stopped really paying attention to this project a while ago so hopefully things have changed, but as far as I know there is still not a set time for shipping.

This one was a no brainer. Arcadia Quest is one of my favorite games and painting the figure has provided hours of entertainment for me as well. I'm not the biggest fan of CMON's communication, but the product arrives and it is high quality with them.

Projected delivery: June 2016
Backer level: Far too much
Delivered: February 2017

I believe this product is already on track to be delayed, but I have heard rumors of a Wave one delivery in July. Even though that is late I will still take it to get my hands on the newest version of this game.

*edit 5/20/16* Delivery estimates have been pushed back to October. Not a huge surprise, but I am really disappointed.

*edit 3/2/17* I received my stuff, one broken figure I need to contact them about. They sent it to my old address and used a shipping method that did not allow me to change it after receiving notification. Luckily I didn't move far and was able to run by my old place and pick up my stuff.

I'm not sure if it's my perspective that has changed or it CMON has changed their KS methods, but this campaign was run horribly. They were pretty much silent about everything after funding and that is unacceptable in this era of crowdfunding. Much smaller companies are able to keep a regular update schedule to at least make the attempt to keep backers informed. Arcadia Quest has been a family favorite and Masmorra has gone over pretty well, but if it's not a project from their shared universe CMON may actually be a negative factor now.

Tiny Epic Galaxies is a great little game and it was fulfilled without issue for me. This series is one I will continue to support as long as the titles interest me.

Another game from CMON featuring the Arcadia Quest universe. This comes with a lot of characters that can be played in Arcadia Quest as well as allowing several AQ characters to be used in Masmorra.

I'm really eager to see this game in action. The seeming lower play time will really allow this game to get played a lot more.

*edit 8/8/16* This game was available for purchase at Gencon, though CMON hasn't had a thing to say about it for quite a while on the KS. I'm really hoping the fact that they are selling retail copies means that we should get this game on time. It would've been nice if they would have done an update with an unboxing or pictures announcing it would be at Gencon for the backers.

*edit 1/11/17* This project has begun fulfillment, but I haven't heard anything. Hopefully I get this soon as I am moving at the end of the month. I tried to change my address with CMON in November and was told it was my responsibility to intercept the package with whoever they ship it with since I was too late. They said the same thing with AQ:I which hasn't even begun fulfillment yet. CMON knows how to make money during a KS and the games I've played have been fun, but their communication and customer service are atrocious. They really need to figure their stuff out.

I discovered this one through the Quests of Valeria KS campaign and was able to get a late pledge. Really like the seeming simplicity of design leading to a lot of options for scoring.
