This is an offshoot of the Top 100 Boardgames League, and proved pretty popular, so will live on! This League began with purely BGG "Thematic" games and used that ranking as the initial order. In November '13 the majority voted to pull in some games from other sub-domains to expand this league to also cover a lot of Customizable games and other "Ameritrash" games, making it a combination Thematic/Ameritrash league. Which feels right to me.

In many parts of the world, sport leagues use the Relegation/Promotion method of advancement through tiers. Teams in each Level battle to finish at the top of the standings. Those teams are awarded for doing so by receiving a Promotion to the next-higher level. Similarly, the worst-ranked teams are Relegated to the next level down.

What happens when we take this approach with board games?

Voting takes a typical complicated thematic games solution with different voting methods for each level! The most popular games will gather in Level 1, so there you will have 3 votes, Level 2 will have 2 votes and the other Levels will have only a single vote as less people will know these games.
Total votes will be used to determine the new ranking within each level. 1st choice votes will be used as a tie-breaker. The Bottom 3 games in each Level will be Relegated to the next-lower level. The Top 3 teams on each level will be Promoted. The Bottom 3 games from Level 5 will be eliminated from the contest.

Last months list is here: The Thematic/Ameritrash Boardgames League - April/May '14 [POLL] - VOTING ENDED

After the previous month's challenge by WOTR, BSG pulled back away again, dominating the contest.
Mage Knight continues to rise, up to 2nd displacing War of the Ring.
Game of Thrones makes an impact on its debut, but only to 9th. Memoir and Star Wars also make decent debut performances.
King of Tokyo and Android: Netrunner arrive following promotions from The Queue and look to cause a stir.
Space Alert comes straight back up from Level 2.

Of last month's new entrants, two went straight on to Level 1. Axis & Allies stalled its advance mid-table.
More of the wave of non-"Thematic" wildcards arrive in Level 2 to cause trouble after a series of back-to-back promotions. Will they head on into Level 1 like the previous waves have? Or are these possibly weaker and now face a stronger Level 2?

Fury of Dracula just missed out on going straight back into Level 2.
Spactacus survives in Level 3 on a tie-break thumb up.
The new entrants come in on following back-to-back promotions. Eclipse and Elder Sign a large number of votes.

BattleLore just failed to go straight back up to Level 3.
All three new entrants last round went straight up.
The new entrants this round have been hanging around in Level 5, but look good to make more headway.

Of last rounds new entrants (Talisman, Space Cadets DD & Junta), none gained immediate promotion, so it looks like we've taken the best of the Ameritrash wave.
Magic and Rampage enter after strong performances on their Queue debuts. Magic with 42 votes should do well.

The Queue

This is the queue of games that will enter the contest as others are eliminated from it. Three games will enter each round.

If you think a game should have a chance in the contest you can nominate it here by adding a comment. The one(s) that get the most thumbs will join the Queue. The game must be classified as Thematic or Customizable on BGG or widely considered to be Ameritrash (which may cause some dispute!).

The initial Queue was made up of games ranked from down to rank 130 on the BGG Thematic games ranking. This is now mixed up with Wild cards and new nominees.

The games getting the most votes will enter Level 5, new nominated games will enter the poll, but games eliminated from Level 5 will go into The Dump, not The Queue.

New Entrants to The Queue:
Dice Town (2009)
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation (2002)

Do not vote for the top 3! I forgot to take them off! Those votes won't count.

Poll
Magic the Gathering (1993)
Rampage (2013)
Pirate's Cove (2002)
