This topic came up in the Dice Tower people choice video and it seamed like an interesting topic to me. There are so many great games out there but which ones will pass the test of time?

Here is my guess at the top ten modern board games that will have longevity.

This is the quintessential cooperative game. It is very accessible and it is has wide appeal and distribution. It will be around for a long time. One of the best co-ops around.

Although I don't play this one any more, it's popularity never seams to end. Like Dungeons and Dragons, it has earned it immortality.

The command and colors series isn't as obvious as some of the games on the list but it is so accessible and fun. In some form it will live on for a very long time.

This game is the one that might still be being played in two hundred years. It may not be as popular as some of the other games on the list but it is such a perfect abstract game. Easy to teach, quick to play, deep, and very portable. This one just seems timeless.

This game was published in 1867, so perhaps it shouldn't be on this list. But it's new to me and I can't imagine it will ever lose any of its appeal. Simply the best dexterity game there is. Everyone I show it to falls in love with it.

This one feels like it is a classic card game even though it was published in 1991. This one has a lot of devoted players.

This one is based on accessibility and popularity. The game has reached critical mass and there is just no stopping it.

This one has been around sense 1977 and it popularity is as strong as ever. It always felt to me like a perfect merging of an Ameri-thrash and a Euro.

I may not play this one much any more but it is the game that started it all for me. People complain that it takes too long for what it is but it is sure a lot better than Monopoly and that is the game I think Catan will eventually replace. Catan will be here long after we are all gone
