CDG's tend to be my favorite type of games and multi-player CDGs even more so. I love Twilight Struggle and Heart's and Minds, both CDG's, both 2 players, but both so different that it shows the range of possibilities in the mechanic, after saying this however the best CDG IMHO are the one that play with 3 or more, I love the gamesmanship and flow of multiplayer CDGs more than most other types of games. So I figured Id share a few that I have played. Feel free to add your own.

In my mind this is the best of this catagory. A game about the reformation may sound dry as dirt to some but this game is far from it. It has intrigue, politics, war, exploration, and even a few people burned at the stake if your lucky. It also has all the hallmarks of a good CDG: History with flavor text on the cards(A must for me, other may differ), strategic as well as tactical decisions that will effect everything you do, asymetric sides, and most importantly its fun.

I say this is the best, simply because it does all the above so well with a very simple ruleset, a quality that the next game on this list lacks a bit.

A game about the age of discovery and the successor to Here I Stand. While a great game in its own right with all the pros that I mentioned in the HiS blurb it does have a bit too much chrome for my taste.

The history of Rome in a CDG, yes please. To quote its entry it is the struggles among the peoples of Italy and Sicily in 4th and 3rd Centuries BC. I havent played this near enough to give a definate opinion but it is on the simpler side of the CDG genre and if it wasnt for successors or Forged in Steel. I would say it would be an entry point to mulit-player CDGs

While it gets a bit of a bad rap this is if not my favorite one of my top 2 or 3 favorite multi-player CDGS.

It is the history of the Successor wars, the wars fought by Alexander the Greats generals after his death.

The reason I enjoy it so much is that it plays so different every time, since the game has random draw for generals you control different sections of the mediteranian world each time at this plus with the cool way of dealing with the kill the leader syndrome and you have a fun CDG you can play in a night.

Disclaimer: The designer is a friend of mine, but to be honest thats more a dig on him

A CDG without war, Forged in steel is a game about the devlopment of Pueblo Colorado. It has all the aspects of a good multi-player CDG, interesting use of the action/event mechanic prevalent in the system, history with flavor text, and conflict.

This is a unique one and is in all respects an entry level CDG. It is easy to learn but plays different every time. It is also one of the few card driven games my wife will play on occassion (I have borrowed Wades prototype to show the missus) since its not war orientated wish she does not find appealing.

P.S: If your intrigued its being kickstarted right now( http://kck.st/1wAYmFD )

Ill stop with this one. This is on the high end of complexity and in my eyes a bit too much for me. I am however in the minority in this opinion. A multiplayer CDG about WWI with all the history and unique card play you could ever want. It is however far too complex for me and the game plays for too ahistorical for my tastes.

Well this is the ones I know. Please add your reccomendations so I can add to my growing collection.

It's not out yet (and even as one of the designers I can't tell you when it'll be available ... just that it will be at some point).

This is a 2-4 CDG that puts you in the role of owner. You don't play 9 innings but instead play through several entire seasons in a race to score victory points.
