Mikko's top 100 — 2014 edition

Lautapeliopas, which happens to be the major information source on board games in Finland.
I've also written a bunch of reviews here at the Geek (you can see the more recent reviews listed here), and I've written a blog on board games since August 2002 (I grant it's a bit derelict right now, but the all the glorious history is there).
I was also the Geek of the Week #43 back in 2006.
Ok, so much for background. Here's the list. Well, not too fast, let me tell you first how I compiled the list. Because initially I thought I wouldn't create one, because the process just sounds way too tedious and difficult. How can I choose the best games and order them so that I'm happy with it?
I decided to make it a game. I took all the games I've rated 7 or higher, and put them in a tournament. I paired random games against each other and picked a winner. Winner got one point, losing five times in a row meant the game was booted from the tournament. I repeated this for dozens of rounds, and ended up with this list. Simple as that, and I'm quite pleased with the results.
Considering I've rated about 1000 games, this list represents the top 10%. If a game is on the list, I think it's good.
