Stockpile

We currently have 10 investors included in the game, but we want to include up to 2 more investors as stretch goals. We haven’t decided on these other 2, and we want your help with that.

Specifically, we are looking for notable male and female investors from around in the world who were born during the 20th Century. Ideally, we want people who were/are involved with investments in some capacity, but we are leaving the definition of investments open to your interpretation.

The 2 most voted for entries (subject to approval) will be our new stretch goal investors!

Posting Rules:
• One post per BGG User
• Please only reference one person
• Please provide 1-2 paragraphs MAX regarding the person's history
• Provide a sentence as to why you think they are awesome

Voting:
• Vote on as many as you want by clicking the thumbs up button! (Note: Ignore the game title associated with the name of the investor)

End Date:
• Winners will be selected as new stretch goals are unlocked.

Winners:
• 1st Winner will be announced after 500 Facebook Likes are achieved!
• 2nd Winner will be announced after 750 Twitter Followers are reached!

Adam Smith

A father of modern economic theory. I will let Smith make his own argument for why he is relevant to Stockpile:

"The real price of every thing, what every thing really costs to the man who wants to acquire it, is the toil and trouble of acquiring it. What every thing is really worth to the man who has acquired it, and who wants to dispose of it or exchange it for something else, is the toil and trouble which it can save to himself, and which it can impose upon other people."
From Wealth of Nations

(Ok, so he is not 20th century, but I'll bet he would have played Stockpile if he were alive now) whistle

Dr. Michael Burry. He's is a fascinating person who was publishing a small newsletter in his passion of studying Financial Investment, while he was finishing his residency as a neurologist. He ended up being one of the rare Financial Advisor to make millions for his clients through his investment company called Scion Capital.

His rationale was the CDO's would bring the markets down. He was absolutely right.

Fascinating.

How about Peter Lynch, at Fidelity, he single handedly managed the largest mutual fund there was. At his peak, he was managing more than 2 Billion, and still returning an unheard of high percentage of profit.

So she is not an investor but if you are looking for female who embodies the idea of "free market capitalism" which this game is based on, look no further than Ayn Rand.

Ayn Rand was a Russian-American novelist, philosopher, playwright, and screenwriter. She is known for her two best-selling novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and for developing a philosophical system she called Objectivism.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Scorsese's film captures the lawless, devil-may-care, roller-coaster life style that stock markets and boiler rooms can embody. Who doesn't want to play as the boyish and ambitious character portrayed by Leonardo DeCaprio? Will the seduction of wealth and fortune overwhelm any semblance of moral and ethics? Will your go-go gambles lead to a fortune empire, or a ruinous scandal?

I think players will love to play a character with this kind of amoral and ambiguous persona.
