This is a geeklist I am going to use to keep track of the games my wife and I play. We have challenged ourselves to play 30 different games by December 1st. We are not going to do 1 game a day because there are days we know we are going to miss and some days we are going to play a few.

#1 Rococo

We started off with Rococo. A game we have played just a couple of times but both enjoy quite a bit.

I went dress making crazy while my wife hired a bunch of employees and funded a ton of decorations. I jumped out to an early huge lead but near the end of the game my wife's strategy started to pay off and she closed the gap. Unfortunately it was a little too late as I held her off

#2 Russian Railroads

I like this game a lot and my wife loves it. We have played this quite a bit and I have won most of them.

Just like clockwork my wife started out grabbing engineers. She loves the engineers and always has the majority of them even in 3 or 4 player games. I went with my usual strategy of getting my extra workers as fast as possible then working on the long track. Over the first few rounds the game was close going back and forth. In the end I pulled away. Her end of game scoring closed the gap but it was another easy victory.

#3 Coal Baron

My wife was at a serious disadvantage in this one. I have played a few times while she has never played the game.

Since I was the first player she was allowed to take the first order card. She started going for the black cubes so I started grabbing the common delivery types. For being her first time ever she played well and stayed within a few points of me for most of the game. She even took the lead going into the third and final round. In the end I filled just enough orders to squeak out a victory.

#4 Glass Road

Glass Road is a game that both my wife and I like very much. We had a one week period where we probably played this game almost 15 times. Unfortunately neither of us are any good at it.

This game started like most other games go. We both struggled to figure out what we wanted to do and what we were going to do. Early on it looked like I was going to run away with it as I was racking up the victory point buildings. She did mount a charge but still fell short. Sadly though, once again our scores reflect how bad we are at this game.

#5 Pret-a-Porter

A game neither of us have played before. I was armed with reading the rulebook a number of times, watching Rahdo run through, and checking up on BGG for rules that were slightly hazy. That gave me a bigger advantage than I thought it would.

I jumped out to an early lead during the first fashion show and never looked back. My wife played catch-up the entire game and struggled. We both enjoyed the game a lot and my wife said she would do a lot of things differently the next time we play.

Yet another game I have played a handful of times and my wife has not. I received this game in my first ever math trade and I fell in love with it right away. I have also been very successful in this game.

My wife picked this game up quickly and it really helped her. She took some risks as I played a more conservative game. It helped her jump out to an early lead for a change. I started battling back and even took the lead going into the final round. She played a perfect final round launching two ships to score 20 points and blocked me out of a key spot I needed.

#7 Ticket to Ride

One of my wife's favorite games. It's a little too light for my tastes but it's a game I can play with my kids and we all have a good time.

I knew the moment we were setting this up I was in trouble. My wife could be a pro at ticket to ride. We let our two daughters (age 7 and 9) play with us. My wife has the amazing ability to complete about 300 million destination tickets while at the same time not blocking our daughters routes. It's like she is playing with 90 trains instead of 45.

The game started off like normal. I was feeling good about myself completing some tickets and building points. My wife didn't seem to be getting out to a lead and my oldest daughter early one had the longest route. That would help keep my wife from those bonus points at the end. Towards the end of the game like always my wife was using her turns to take destination tickets. Going into final scoring I thought it was going to be close....thought. I was wrong as usual.

Winner: my wife
Score: 163-142-129-124

I scored 142, my 7 year old daughter 129 and my 9 year old daughter 124.

#8 Kingdom Builder

A game my wife and I have only played one time until now. This is the kickstarter version big box but we played just the base game without expansions. I don't remember the name of the three cards but we had the one where you got points for building next to mountains, most buildings in a section, and continuous connecting of castles and such.

It was easy to see early on my wife was ahead. She was connecting locations and I was pretty much all over the map. When the game ended I thought she did better but I wasn't sure. I thought it would be really close. Towards the end of scoring I had no chance.

#9 DC Comics

One of my wifes' favorite games. It's just ok for me but I like how fast we can play it.

For a change this game started off with me grabbing the lead. I defeated the first villain and was on my way to the upset victory. Then I had a bunch of turns in a row where I was one or two points short of defeating another villain. My wife started a consistant run when every 2-3 turns she was defeating villains. Next thing I know she's got 5 to my 2. With just one left I needed it to give me a chance to win. Up to this point I didn't have any weaknesses in my hand and she had a couple. Well, she ended up defeating the final villain and won the game.

#10 Lords of Waterdeep

Another of my wifes' favorites. She loves this game and she usually does pretty well with it. We also played this with the excellent expansion.

My wife is usually pretty predictable in this game. She started out taking corruption so she could acquire more adventurers. I played much more conservative based on the fact that the early buildings and quests didn't allow you to get rid of corruption. I quickly completed a couple of quests and jumped out to a 23-0 lead.

She responded with a 40 pointer and I was in catch-up mode the rest of the way. Everytime I would get to within a few points she would jump out ahead. I was down by 30 points going into the last round but had a trick up my sleeve. I was able to give her a mandatory quest (which she really loved by the way) and complete an 18 point quest.

I knew it was going to be close. After final scoring my 12 point deficit turned into a 19 point defeat.

#11 Pandemic

After I won the first five games my wife stormed back by picking games she figured she could beat me in. Her strategy worked and she won the next five. We figured we would put off the tie breaker one more day and try our luck with a co-op. Her favorite of all co-ops Pandemic. I prefer Yggdrasil and Atlantis Rising but I like Pandemic as well.

Before I start getting into the details we have only played the introductory game and we still are under a 50% success rate.

Things started off great. We each had 2 or 3 turns before the first epidemic. I was able to cure the yellow disease fairly early on. Just a couple of turns later I cured the black disease and my wife was real close with the blue one.

We managed the disease cubes very well. Probably too well as we started running out of cards. It was going to be close. My wife finally cured the blue disease and we just had the red disease left.

It was not to be. When we ran out of cards I had one red card in my hand and she had 3.

I was the medic and my wife the researcher.

Winner: the diseases of pandemic
Score: we lost due to running out of cards.

My wife is in trouble. We are running out of "her" type games and pretty soon she is going to have to face the likes of Terra Mystica, Lancaster, New Amsterdam, and others.

#12 Nations

Nations is a game we both enjoy very much. My wife in games will usually pick one strategy and if she does well with it she will mirror it almost every game. In Nations she is a war monger. She enjoys the military aspect and watching people hand over victory points like Halloween candy. In a 5 player game of this one time she started a war every single round and held three of us to under 15 total points.

A couple of notes. We use the B side of the boards so each civ is a bit different. We pick our civs randomly so we don't get to pick. I play on emperor while she plays on Chieftan.

After the random draw of course my wife gets Rome and that +2 military to start the game. I get Egypt which I don't mind. I usually like to use my growth phases to select guys and even though the Pyramids are -2 food every round, I start with a +2 food generating building.

In typical my wife fashion she gets two military units and starts a war. I work on a balanced strategy of getting enough resources and adding some books and a little bit of stability to offset the resource loss due to the war. I don't chase military. Especially since Egypt doesn't even start with one.

Halfway through the game I am dominating the book/culture track but I am getting pounded by wars. Luckily I was able to start a couple of them to give me breathers every once in a while.

Towards the end of the game it was apparent that I wasn't going to score very many points. My wife didn't do particularly very well either considering that she was playing on the easiest level.

In the end she easily won as I struggled for the second straight time I've played Nations.

Winner: my wife

I love this game! One of my favorites. I haven't had it all that long and I've already played it half a dozen times. This would be my wifes first time playing it and to make matters even worse for her, she has never played Agricola either.

She picked up the game rather quickly and was doing a fine job. I had a slight lead early on and pretty much kept that lead for most of the game.

She had a couple of very good rounds towards the end but I did just a little more.

Neither of us purchased any buildings with the exception of rooms for extra dwarves.

#14 Amerigo

Currently this is my wifes' favorite game.

I started out with the typical move ships and discover some islands. My wife surprisingly decided to do a progress action and took the tile that gives you +1 gold for each trade post you build.

This move set her behind slightly. I jumped out to a huge lead early and just kept increasing it as the game went on. At one point I had lapped her on the scoring track.

She was too worried about blocking me on islands instead of getting her own points and it was costing her. This would actually be the first game of Amerigo we have ever played where more than one island did not get completed.

Based on her player board she was going to do well in end of game scoring but she had a ton of work to do as the game ended and I had exactly a 50 point lead.

She put up a ton of points in end of game scoring. I don't remember exactly how much but it was enough to make the game look a lot closer than it actually was.

I kickstarted this game and was really looking forward to it. When I got it we played it a lot and for some reason it hasn't hit the table in months.

We won't let that happen again. Man, what a great game Snowdonia is.

My wife absolutely refuses to build a train until the event where we have to pay train upkeep is over. So I build a train as soon as we are allowed to. My wife hoards the coal though making it tough to consistently get it.

I was doing more of the station building and we were about even in laying track. She was beating me in contracts.

When we got to final scoring she was confident in the win but I thought it was going to be close. After scoring stations and tracks I had a 19 point lead. Then we got to contracts and she best me by over 40 points in that category.

Ok we are seriously behind here. We had a very busy week and we probably won't accomplish our goal. We are still going to play 30 different games but it will take longer than December 1st.

Cinque Terre is one of our favorite pick up and deliver games. Although a basic game we both enjoy it.

My wife is pretty good at this one. She normally fills some orders quickly than she works on her starting order. Maybe it's because we haven't played in a while but this time she started off working on her starting order.

We were both doing pretty well. We were scoring good points and the game was close throughout. When she claimed her 5th order to trigger the end of the game I then completed my fifth.

We tallied the scores and in the end....oh so close.

Le Havre is a game both me and my wife enjoy a lot. I started off way in front. As soon as she built the Wharf I used it to build the first ship. A little more than halfway through the game I was producing a ton of food while she was struggling.

It's actually not uncommon for me to jump out to an early lead. With about 5 rounds to go I was producing enough food that I didn't need to make anymore for the rest of the game. This allowed me to focus on shipping goods while she focused on building as many buildings as she could.

When the game ended there was little doubt that I had won.

Amerigo replaced this game as my wifes' favorite Feld game. I still like this one a little bit better.

My wife has a funny habit of picking one or two strategies and trying to stick with them. In Trajan she usually goes for shipping and construction. I'm usually all over the map.

My wife started out dominating the construction area. By the time the game ended my wife would end up with three sets of three. She was struggling meeting the demands of the people. Out of the four rounds she would end up losing victory points in three of them.

I was able to produce one good of each due to my Trajan tiles and not once did I love victory points. I had a very comfortable lead throughout the entire game. Even her strong end of game scoring couldn't keep the game close.

I'll admit I'm not a huge Knizia fan. My wife loves this game. I don't like this game with less than 4 players but she wanted this on our list so here it goes.

My wife is always focused on making me lose points over gaining her own points. That strategy pays off more than half of the time.

This time it wouldn't. She had a miserable first round scoring. I didn't do great either but I had a nice lead. She was in catch up mode the rest of the way and never really got close.

We haven't played this game much. Actually I think this was her second play and just my third.

I really like this game. It's funny how when you don't play a game in a while you don't realize just how good it is. The next game on my list falls under that as well.

It took my wife all of the first two rounds to claim three majorities. I had my work cut out for me. She was building canals a lot and I was focused on getting houses and people out. It was clear early on I would never get the majority in the canals so I had to get the other two.

I managed to get the other two before the game end. She was hurt by not being able to build that 5th canal and not get the 7 point statue. I was able to get a person out early that allows me to get rid of 1 threat marker around and gain 1 point. The combination of the two left me feeling pretty confident as final scoring was being calculated.

As it turned out not getting that 7-pt statue ended up costing my wife the game.

Score: 48-42

#21 Yedo

It has been far too long since Yedo has hit my table. Easily more than six months. I definitely won't let that happen again. This is such a great game.

As soon as we finished we both wanted to play this again.

Going into this game I was more than confident. I own my wife in this game.

Early on, it appeared she was here to fight. She started completing quests like we were playing Lords of Waterdeep and due to losing auctions, event cards, and the city guard I didn't complete my first quest (a green one) until the 4th round.

The score was close. At one point my wife built a 6-point lead but I quickly erased it and tied the game late.

Going into the last round my wife led 23-21. I had a black quest I was going to be able to complete giving me 4 points and I assumed I would be able to complete my bonus card for another 3 points. I was hoping 28 total points would be enough to win.

I would be wrong. While I had to use everything in my inventory to complete my 4 point quest my wife put together a final round for the ages. She had all 4 of her workers and used them to purchase two sets of victory points and complete two final quests.

To add insult to injury she prevented me from completing my bonus. My wife ended up scoring 9 points in the final round and 4 points from her bonus card.

Winner: my wife
Score: 36-25

#22 What's He Building In There?

One of the very few games I had wished I backed on Kickstarter. I really like this game a lot and luckily so does my wife. I haven't had it all that long but we have played this game a handful of times.

I have about a 75% success rate of completing level three of both my escape vehicle and my doomsday machine/weapon. On he down side I never do much in the victory point tracks.

My wife decided instead of fighting me over the items she would go heavy on the victory point tracks. It's an interesting strategy but to win the game she would still need to complete level 1 of each.

Due to her strategy I was able to build 5 of the 6 inventions I needed while she got just one. This would give me a nice point boost.

In the last round I got lucky with the black market buildings that came out allowing me to refine copper to help me complete level 3 in both. My wife just didn't have enough workers to complete level 1 of each and couldn't win the game.

After adding up final scores it proved it wouldn't have mattered as I still would have won even if she had completed the first stage in each.

Winner: me
