Festival: Pile of Books
Scenario: Doom that came to Sarnath (December 3)
Jonathan 50, Rick 46, Tony 43, Bruce 35, Jim Matt 33

This is a revision of Kingsburg, but Lovecraft Mythos, and rather than defending your pathetic little village, you, as lead Cultist, are determined to destroy the world. Sadly several others (obviously less pious than you) are attempting the same, plus "do gooders" frequently impead your progress. Jim started strong, but failed down the road. I didn't start strong and fought for last, but I taught so I had plenty to do. Rick, Tony and Jon were all doing well and any of them had potential to open the portal allowing all manner of horrors to engulf mankind, but Jon was slightly better.

“Matt R's long thin castle earned him a ton of points at the end for depleted rooms.” “Accidentally played with the Most and Least completed room goals, and a motion at the table was defeated to replace one at random. The others were Outdoor and Sleeping rooms.”

(Correction: should read both the Most Completed Rooms Favor and the Most Incomplete Rooms Favor.)

I've visited only one of his Castles, the Disney template, and rather liked it. Sadly, like most of our holidays, it was raining that day and I wasn't able to obtain a proper photo. (Really, the only time I remember it not raining was during a "short" summer hike to Fort Bowie in the Arizona wilderness. A hike during which we had neither food nor drink and none of us thought to bring a hat or sunscreen. None of my scouting prepared me for this. I grew up in Iowa, we conduct our hikes in parks so placed because the farmer couldn't drain the marsh, so he fenced it and retuned it to the county as a token of good will. I now wear a silly hat on all summertime outings, just in case "we" decide a hike is in order. And the best part of the story is that when we arrived a few hours later, tens of pounds lighter and red as a ruby at Fort Bowie, the Ranger remarked that he hadn't been that way in some time, because he used the parking lot "out back". "Out back" was a distance measured in feet compared to our route which can only quantified properly in leagues.)

Matt & Jim Matt 1000
Tony & Bruce 0000

Very many Bombs made play unpredictable and chaotic. Jim had a nine card Bomb. Good for him. One round I passed the correct cards to give two other Bombs. The game was less competitive than the score can show. My old history prof had an expression which fits here, “it was like the local junior high football team playing the Chicago Bears.”
