and I participated in the 2014 Challenge: Play 10 Games 10 Times Each. We've had a great time with it, but also noticed that we have been ignoring a lot of other games in favor of working on the 10 x 10 and we now have a backlog of games from both the end of 2013 as well as 2014 to catch up on.
So we're doing a different challenge for 2015, and we'd love to invite everyone to come enjoy the journey with us. Billy would like to focus on our games in shrink and I would like to focus on games that we haven't played in a few years, so this challenge allows for both categories.
The basic challenge is that you pick two games each month, and that month you play them each at least 2 times each. Simple as that.
Here are the rules:
Add an item to this geeklist as your way of indicating that you want to participate. I suggest creating a geeklist of the games you're playing and link to that.
Each month, at the beginning of the month you post the two games you have chosen. You can choose them ahead of time, or as the month happens. As long as you pick two and play them each twice, you're on track.
THE GAMES: You must pick two games that are either in shrink or that you haven't played in over 2 years. Billy wanted to have it open only to games in shrink, but I want the challenge open to anyone, regardless of whether they've bought a ton of games recently, so this is our compromise.
This is on the honor system, so I won't be checking but please pick your games before you play them.
There will be 12 "Points" awarded, one each month. You either complete the challenge for that month, or you don't. If you miss a month, you just move on to the next month. Each month, please update you geeklist item with the games that you chose and when you played them, as well as any other information you'd like to share, like why you picked the games or how you liked them.
I'm hoping to have a microbadge made, and ideally, two: one (maybe silver) so people can show they are participating, and one (probably gold) to show they completed the challenge. If anyone wants to design the microbadge, let me know.
Also, I'll give away some geekgold to a random person who participates as well as to a random person who finishes the challenge. The geekgold will be given away at the end of the challenge.
Anyone can join in at any month, but you'll only get full credit if you complete January through December 2015.
Boardgames count and RPG's count; video games do not (for this challenge).
Online and digital copies of boardgames can count if you feel the experience of playing the game that way resembles playing the physical game.
Thank you for joining us and Happy Gaming!
- Nikki and Billy
Rules additions and clarifications:
Any geekgold contributed to this list will be given away at the end by random draw of those who complete the challenge.
Make one post and update it with the games you choose and play as you go. No need to create a new post each time.
You can use expansions as games, yes.
