HARDCORE

I might as well start trying for the whole enchilada and back-off if necessary.

My list is:
1) Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar
2) Caverna: The Cave Farmers
3) Thunderstone Advance
4) Bruges
5) Le Havre
6) Lords of Waterdeep
7) Ascension
8) Pandemic
9) Keyflower
10) Ticket To Ride
11) Agricola

My entry is on page 5 of the master list.
Althea wants to achieve 10x10 also - she's not on BGG though - so I will track my solo's with an * on the date.
Althea started her own 10x10. I will continue to track solo verse multiplayer as I want to see where the balance falls.

Pre-playthrough:
I convinced Althea to buy after lots of personal research. We bought Caverna without playing first - our first purchase this way. I wanted a "new" game that was new for everyone.
We haven't played with more than two though I expect we will this year. We haven't offered this as an option during gaming events mostly because our events have needed to be shorter lately.
I expect we will keep random-drawing tiles (we don't use all) to keep pressing new strategies. Our BT insert makes setup a breeze.

And we're off (1/3):
Started my list with Caverna small-side. Introduced the group to it - everyone seemed to enjoy though having 3/5 players learning makes it slow to play. Dante won, of course - 5 player. He is so talented in games I shouldn't have considered otherwise even when just learning. I tried cow/ruby/ore and was second but we continue "the teachers losing" story ... which seems to happen with Caverna.

(1/4) Another Dante win, I was 2nd - 4 player. I did the hay-beer-boar but a couple of major mistakes cost me late.

(2/18): It's been awhile and our scores showed. I tried to press harder but didn't grow early and fast - only had 3 dwarves.

(5/24): Another long break. I had 4 dwarves late (compared to her 2) and still didn't win. I kept up with her full time adventures but didn't see the 3 point-maker buildings.

(6/16): I picked Caverna tonight despite the long day. I knew I needed to be on my game...spoiler, I wasn't. I tried to push adventures to get in Althea's way. It helped but I got behind and didn't get the score building I needed; I was short stone. She won by 4; 42-46. Not the best scores. I haven't played as well as in the beginning. I think I need to go back to pushing for more family instead of adventures - playing her game.

(6/19): We carried Caverna to game night at HTG. It was surprising no one knew it. We played a 4-player with Duck & Son. I decided, early on, to avoid Althea's game, concentrate on teaching, and build. Althea spent lots of effort on teaching Son while Duck bounced ideas off me. I tried to offer every good option - even at cost to me - and Duck learned quickly. He took second above Althea. He'll be good at this one.

(8/9): Althea and I played a quick 2-player game. She got me by 4 points. I went for the "either/or" becomes "&/or" tile and had a ton of ruby mines. My failure was growing slow and only having the end game bonus for Ore. Still very fun - I continue to love this game.

(10/9): 4-player @HTG. Taught to Jason and Michelle, former(?) Agricola players. They seemed to enjoy themselves since this is much less stressful- their dislike of Agricola. They held their own well scoring upper-70s with me while Althea took the win with 81. I played Beer Garden and Stone points for, what I expected as an easy game but our students brought it. Jason went for 6-dudes (I think cause I said it was hard to do) while Althea had only 3.

(12/6): 2-player with Althea. I decided to 'get in her space' and steal the Adventurer end-game token and get some shields. We were very close on every area but I edged her out.

(12/13): 2-player with Althea again. I won by 6 by getting into her Adventure space again. It is my last required 10x10 play. I felt a little bad winning again... but only a little. I only had the animal and veg/hay point scores. I ran out of caverns and didn't get enough Ruby mines.

(12/20): 2-player with Althea. We are finishing her list. I didn't do well, lost by 5. I had 3 adventurers but stalled between trying to fill my space and get VPs.

(12/24): Althea's last play and she made it a good one. She went and bought a bunch of score tiles while I wasn't looking. 90-76

Pre-playthrough:
This is my #11 because I play this exclusively on iOS. I play solo-series during flights. I enjoy the specificity of the farm environment and the randomness of the occupations. I bought the game after Caverna and I still enjoy Caverna more.
My hope, after 10 games, is for better scores. I can't seem to break
57 points initially (no starting occupations) and 65 points overall. I won't read Occupation combo strategies because I want to discover my own.
The solo strategies only grant one carry-over occupation each game. When trying to maximize scores, I will try several 'next occupations' if I seem stuck.

(2/2): Solo-series. Conservator - Stone Carrier - stuck. I like starting with the Conservator since I don't need the Clay for anything other than cooking. This might be a flaw but not having to step through the Clay House seems movement saving. I think I need to try other than Stone Carrier - something that directly helps with food or points. I get stuck at low-mid 50s.

(3/13): Solo-series. Mushroom Collector - Seasonal Worker - Stuck. Both the Maid and the Chief's Daughter were in the series and I still couldn't get the points. I think since I don't collect wood but a few times early I don't get the best effect of the MC. I need a stronger starter card. I played a couple of Baking methods and did well but not good enough.

(4/10): Solo-series. Seasonal Worker - Tutor - Renovator. I made 62 in this series but all my cards required more wood than I could generate. I am getting better at developing food engines.

(5/16): Solo-series. Hedge Keeper - Seasonal Worker - Tutor - Chief - Lord of the Manor - Stable Hand - Claymixer. 90 so far. It is very dependent on the Minor Improvements and I must build 3 Major-point makers.

(10/17): I have continued the Hedge Keeper - Seasonal Worker - Tutor - Chief - Lord of the Manor - Stable Hand - Claymixer through several more achieves. I will probably top-out at 21-23 games but here are the results so far:

Pre-playthrough:
I enjoy this game a lot. I have played several solo sessions. My scores are all over the place but I love the "grow from nothing" mechanic. I love the randomness of the refill disks but I could see myself producing another set that has a different pairing - mostly because I like to experiment.
I don't expect I'll need to open the Hameau cards for 10 more plays - I'm loving the current set now - but I might

(1/14): Our first 10x10 play and it was miserable for me... only a little tongue-in-cheek. I had my absolute worst game ever - Althea was one step ahead and took every asset... I still had 4 loans at round 9. I don't know what happened but I couldn't think / dig out. Worst problem: the shipping lane was buried and all my other issues kept me from trying to dig it out. How bad was it? She got the Luxury Yacht (one move before me), Bank, and Town Hall. I sorta fell apart and it probably wasn't fun for her (sorry Dear). My punishment, she didn't want to play it again... we moved on to Bruges. My gameplay runs in extreme hot and cold streaks overall and I don't understand why.

(1/31): Two plays, two losses. I'm competitive but she consistently grabs either the TH, Bank, or both. The second game, I had a chance when the Fish Maarket came out - 2Fr / fish; limit 7 fish. I didn't notice her favorite buildings were sitting together... durr.

(2/8): Internet is out so what to do? Le Havre. We only played once though. The shipping lane was buried and the TH and Bank were together but I vowed to make sure I got one of them - I got the bank. We ended 206-201; my game. I'm still struggling with end-game timing.

(3/21): I decided to try a different trick - don't build in a hurry. I enjoyed being in front on all the collections; Althea was annoyed I kept getting the Iron. I was fortunate that the Warf was shallow and Althea built it. I grabbed a ship early and left my token there. She went down the loan path and was struggling. I continued the slow growth and worked the Shipping Lane but in the last couple of rounds she realized it and blocked it. I was confident with 89 but blown away by her 97... as was she. It was one extra building she built trying to figure out a strategy.

(3/31): Vacation Le Havre! I did the 'slow start' again. My original plan was to suddenly start building but I invested in ships - no food need for me. Buying ships kept my marker in the warf and put Althea in trouble. She is better at the game than I am and she worked around it. I shipped 5-6 times since the Collery appeared early and pulled a 1-point victory.

(4/2): Crash and burn - Althea almost doubled my score. I got myself twisted early in the game, kept changing goals, and allowed 'interrupt Althea' to weigh to much. I needed loans and failed for most of the game.

(10/10): The VP buildings were buried as were the Shipping Lane and Warf. I took a slower building-grow process being ready for the Warf - Althea built it and I immediately built 2 wooden ships (in three turns). Althea tried to deny the Brick Maker so in the end I had 4 wooden ships and a Steel Ship. The Luxury Ship - Special Building - came out and I traded my Iron for it. I was a tight game, I had 4 loans, and I almost failed but in the end my last turn Shipping gave me 33 points for 153 to Althea's 125.

(10/24): Another play; I'm loving our 'get it done'. I played usual but Althea had trouble - I was in front of what she wanted and she wound up with lots of loans. She isn't accustom to having them so she spiraled and didn't do well.

(11/10): I was moving well at this one. I wanted more buildings but I kept control, focused on energy, shipped 3 times, and blew it out with 175-~120 - my best delta victory.

(12/25): Althea's last 2015 10x10. She wasn't feeling well and just wanted to get the list done.

Pre-Playthrough:
I have liked the look of this game since I began to research games on BGG. It is on the list without a single pre-play. Althea and I will know "how much" we like it after 10 plays.

(1/24) I did my first play-through of this one a la Rahdo-style - solo, 2-player. The game went smooth but I struggled with the icons and kept having to look in the rules about little things. Most interesting, I had trouble planning with the time-element and remember how-to-play. It was almost like all my clock ticks were used. I would look something up, execute that action, move the the other player, and have completely forgotten their goals.
I enjoyed this play-through. Strategy wise, Blue went for 2 no-feed benefits, then building benefits, and more pawns... I didn't execute well. Green started slower, very behind, and surged in the end with a monument for VPs for gray buildings - Green was a better builder than Blue due to an early focus on assets. Blue barely won though.
I will need 1-2 more solos in order to teach this one if I expect to be competitive. Being rules teacher, I put on myself the requirement to show people important things - which usually mean losses to me - as a part of their play. Teaching Althea Keyflower showed this also though she won our third game completely on her own... that stupid blocking Blue meeple cost me 16 points... /love you Dear.

(1/30): Second solo session. I find this game difficult to plan. Counting turns-to-go is as important as Le Havre. I'm ready to teach it and we plan 2-3 sessions over spring break... yes, we are planning ahead.

(2/14): Three player solo session. I did better with 2/3 but poor Blue went for "all six markers" - big corn - and failed. Green and Red went for Temple and Skull, respectively. The gears make this game a challenge for me to plan. I'm AP'ing terribly as I learn. (Althea had the flu...)

(3/29): Althea's first play and she won. I came back and grabbed plays two and three. First game, I was to passive. This game requires leaning forward and risking starvation. Second game I grabbed the 40 point monument for the second game and she still almost caught me. Finally, I was going for the multi-people monument and she grabbed it first... I had to do some quick regrouping since I didn't have a backup plan. I grabbed every easy point. All the games were 10-point or less differences.

(4/3): I came out of the gate with a big win. Althea seems mixed about
this game but she did win one of today's three. It seems you do best: leaning forward, using point-multipliers, and being at the top of (any of) three of the technical tracks - the goods pile on. Also, having either the conversion space or goods-doubler is a must for end of game. Also, early starvation isn't terrible if you get it under control.

(4/11): It was Tabletop Day and this was the second we taught our group. Althea for the win. I was helping with the baby and didn't really get to think - places 2/3/4 were 3-4 points apart.

Pre-playthrough:
This is Rahdo's fault. I loved what I saw and had to have it. Then I discovered it wasn't easy to get but stubbornness will get you something occasionally. I hope Althea loves it also.
Farmers will get mixed in over time. Merchants might get bought if Althea enjoys the base.

First Play (1/7):
I finally had time to solo-play-through* and I loved it. I played three positions so I wouldn't be able to remember assets from turn to turn (it worked to well). General thoughts: I will have to be very careful not to AP in the game, buying more isn't better, and meeples have value to save turn-to-turn. "I won" but I made a winter error:. I bid on the ships instead of each player getting one - it made a significant points difference.

(1/11): Another solo 3-player game. I think I did it correctly - 60,60,& 46 point scores. I was surprised with the tie and (that) the Green-focused guy only got 46. I play cutthroat and if any play appears to telegraph a strategy another player jumps in - not perfect but I enjoyed myself.

(1/18): Our first 2-player Keyflower game. We played 2 games and Althea won both - remarkable. I'm either a great teacher, miserable at 1st-play sessions (more on that in New Games comment), or my hot-cold streak continues.
I definitely learned that my solo-plays were not effective for strategy development. Althea is much more aggressive when it matters; she overbid several of my 2-meeple bids. My other lesson: don't put extra winter goals up for auction; Althea got all my plans (I got hers) and my extras just fed her points. The base game plays two sessions without repeating any tiles and we got all the Green-meeple generators in the first game so the two games were completely different.

(1/23): This is turning into my white whale; Althea won again (by 1 point). She pulled a late Winter move and put a Blue meeple on my (4-Moves & 2-upgrades) tile and cut me off because I didn't have ANY Blue. I had set-up for 3 upgrades I couldn't make - 16 points. It was my own fault for leaving it exposed so I continue to learn what not to do. I had drawn 6 meeples trying to get more Blue. Her move wasn't the initial mean move; I played a Green on her convert Blue-to-Green so she missed a whole season.

(1/28): I finally won one! I seem to need to control my purchasing ways and spend more time with my own town. Unfortunately, I lost by 2 points in the second game. I didn't press for two of the three 'pure point' tiles that were available. I was trying to keep small and efficient. Althea was as surprised she won...

(3/22): We played Farmers-varient; sheep, pigs, cows, and hay - what isn't to love. Well, we only bought sheep and both had tons of hay left. It was fun especially since I won. Thinking about moving the animals around really changed the game even though it was only 'put animals in fields'.

(7/3): Keyflower for 6! I carried it to HTG for Fri night games and had 5 new players try. It wasn't fully embraced - Rich didn't get it and finished only to be a good player, MA didn't comment, Linda thought it was long, but Alan and Matt had fun. Matt started getting it in Fall and Alan pulled a surprise 1 point win. I spent all my effort teaching and I ended with more than a dozen unused meeples. It was 3 hours of teaching and playing, so, yes, too long. I am still happy to play it.

(10/17): Althea wanted to play! 2-player game that was mine 77-51; she struggled. Standard game and it is still a favorite. She has a few plays for her 10x10 so I'll get more this year.

(10/18): Althea called for another game - she wants to finish her 10x10. I get a bonus play /yeah. I doubt I'll get a ton of plays of this next year (probably only 10 since it will be on my list). I thought she had me this time. My town was small and anemic but I played tougher in the winter... I put some green in her town... "she said a bad word /lol". I won by 4 57-61. I was trying to establish what she doesn't care for in the game but I think it isn't anything specific.

(10/24): Althea is focused on finishing Keyflower. She just wanted to 'get one more' then something happened: she caught an idea and proceeded to out-do me the whole game. I was eventually able to grab some points in Winter when I was able to use an over-bid group to get wood and score them. It would have been a route otherwise; my loss 54-55 and the wood was worth 9 points. She admitted she might just need to play more to learn the game - I am hoping she will.

(10/31): Althea won. I decided to use the 5+ and 6 player boats instead of the usual - the counts are less, but close, for meeples. It was a crazy game: no meeple generator and tons of travel. She got both... both ... green generators but I was lucky, no winter "green bonus" tile. I won on tile upgrades but her greens took all the winters she wanted. 48-42 in the end

(11/13): Taught Jason, Michelle, Olivia (their young daughter), and Lee. They had wanted to play and Olivia loves horses so every horse tile was well-bid-on (she got every travel tile). I had warned them about AP and when they saw the Summer tiles and growth of options they suddenly knew what was happening. We ended with a three-way tie of 50. I had no Green Meeples to counter bid winter tiles and Jason grabbed the boat row to stay in the game. Michelle surprised both of us with all her points. In the Winter, I showed Jason "the nasty side of the game" and used his town with a color he didn't have to prevent a bunch of Gold. He immediately showed Michelle and it caused some growling... in good spirits in the end with the scores tied. A text later says they will be buying it.

(12/6): Althea's last two plays for her 10x10. I won them... not doing much for keeping her liking the game. She said she would play it on mine next year but she struggles with getting this one. She has beat me 5 times but those wins weren't enough for this one.

Pre-playthrough:
We usually have Undermountain added. Maybe we will change for some of these plays. I would see us going back to the base for one game and playing the other expansions singly to produce variations in the overall event.
I expect we will have more than 10 plays of this one.

(2/16): Wow, I didn't expect mid-Feb before our first play this year. It was a good game - with Undermountain. Althea had an early 40-pointer so I spent to rest of the game playing catch-up. I got within 5 points but she won. She kept me locked out of Purple (Wizards) for the last couple of rounds ... very effective in controlling my last 2-3 big quests. There wasn't much purple available.

(5/23): Unusual, game. Althea was distracted and I jumped to a big mid-game lead. She usually matches when I grab a big point quest but didn't this time. I jumped up 25 points. End of game, I was 28 ahead. I was a little meaner though since I gave her 2 mandatory quests. A rare Waterdeep win for me and I'll take it. This was base-game only.

(6/11): We played a quick game this evening. I tried to press and jump ahead quickly but between her having the building Lord and me not getting larger point quests after the first couple... I lost by 29. I should have interrupted her building acquisitions but I wanted my money for quests and it cost me.

(8/16): Abused playing Undermountain: 259-237. I tried to jump ahead and hold her off but round two Lt and "reveal your Leader" (can't be attacked) put Althea in the "yours to lose" seat. I was a little grumpy because I saw the inevitable at mid-game and I couldn't draw a non-attack card to save me.

(10/11): This game defined abuse ~250-187; her game my reception, of course. This game eludes me and I don't know what to do. She seems to get the combos but I kept a good attitude (this time). I may have to press for Skillport (solo addition) to have a chance since she knows this game well; and loves it.

(10/17): I got my Skullport play and won. I took Xanthar (+4/corruption) and just planned to march hard. She got an Intrigue Card that allowed her to see my leader and wilted - she didn't know how to beat 'him'. She put a good effort in and, in the end, only missed by ~10. Her not knowing the cards well was my only hope.

(11/1): 2-player 50 point abuse. Undermountain seems to do that to me. It was Althea's last 10x10 play but I have a couple to go.

(11/29): Vindication. I accidentally moved her marker when I filled my last couple of quests and still won. I seemed to be 1/2 a turn ahead - an early 40 pointer helped. Maybe I can learn to chain goods accumulation also.

(12/4): Played a 4-player short game with Jason, Sean, and Gavin. Extremely different only having 2 meeples in the beginning and much lower scores. We played Skullport and Gavin won by 7-8. I was holding on but he had finished more leader quests whereas I couldn't get any easy that lined up. Jason was out of it from mid-game...

(12/23): Played my last 10x10 play for the whole list. We were at HTG and Ashley wanted to learn the game so Althea and I played. We played a short game and I stayed in the rear for most of the game. I really thought I was going to loose (as usual) but surprise! I won. I had the Warfare/Piety guy and I had 11 quests filled - all but a couple. Ashley did very well but Althea is much better with more meeples.

This game is one I need the 10x10 to help. I enjoy every play but it never beats the newer / shiner models we own. We have the first expansion but unless we pull this one out for bigger groups we won't get to play with the trader-mechanic (I can't remember their term).

(1/23): We played Normal (5 Epidemic cards) and we lost. We were one yellow card short of curing the last disease. We suffered Asian outbreaks all game - more than half the epidemic cards were Red and as 2 players we couldn't keep it cleaned up. We enjoy the puzzle but I don't get as excited with this unless we have 'new to games' gamers. Hopefully we can get more plays with 3+; I would love to play with the terrorist.

(1/31): Another Normal play (5 Epidemic cards); we won. Red and Black were our challenge. We won on Althea's last turn - our typical Normal - we need to be more efficient. We are getting better with using the action cards though.

(2/22): We had a quick window to play (Normal). We won decisively... and then looking at each other... "we didn't play the Epidemics correctly". Neither of us reviewed the rules - Epidemics get 3 cubes. I'll call it a play since we won't ever make that mistake again.

(4/2): We re-introduced Maria to Pandemic (3-player). We only did 4 Epidemics (and won) but I don't think she likes games even that weight. Althea and I are ready to go again and she is just spent. Sushi Go and Trailer Park Wars are her favorites.

(5/25): Quick Sun afternoon play. Five Epidemic Cards and those Asians just wouldn't wash their hands. We almost lost this one: Outbreaks hit 6 and we couldn't get red cards. I want to try 6 Epidemics next time but I expect to lose. Five is always very close.

(9/8): We wanted a quick game so five epidemics. We won easily - we had two cures before two outbreaks. It looked scary in the beginning but our roles and cards draws cured Red within a couple of rounds. Yellow then Black and finally the Europeans/Blue were cured. Having Red cured and cleaned gave us the breathing room. Althea agreed we will try 6 epidemics next time.

(9/29): We went for six epidemics and we beat it! Containment Specialist and Archivist spent the whole game in triage but the Archivist would grab the discards for the color we were assembling. We had an early epidemic and a couple of outbreaks.

(10/18): Another six epidemics and we won again - barely. Operations Specialist and Medic left us with some tension. We held off most outbreaks and finished with a board full of cubes. Althea got the last cure on the turn we would have failed since there were no more cards to draw.

(10/21):
* Generalist and Operations Expert failed at 6 epidemics. We had an epidemic on my opening round and it went downhill from there.
* Containment Specialist and Scientist won at 6 epidemics.

We will be comparing the base, dice expansion, and card expansion.

Bonus

Date: 1/8 x3; 1/9 x2; 3/14; 3/15; 4/3; 8/16; 9/27; 10/31; 11/29; 12/6; 12/12 x3

(1/8): Althea surprised me and wanted to play. I killed the first game - we didn't even score it because it was obvious. She is very competitive at times so "game on"... I lost the next two.
My first cards were perfectly aligned but the second and third rounds were progressively worse. Our third game had my situation similar to hers initially and I lost... probably not as bad thoughlaugh

(1/9): Surprise, Surprise. The game group chose T2R as one of the games. I won twice.

(3/14): Pie day game day. Althea barely got me. I was longest train but she ended before I got one of my routes - by 2 trains. It was a good game.

(3/15): My choice; I wanted to play the Dice Expansion. It really changes the game. Instead of drawing for an efficient card placement the game become a race. I liked it, though different, but I think Althea prefers the original rules.

(4/3): I pulled out the Dice version again. Our tickets were 1-point difference and she tried to break my long train. I had the south east Asia routes and she had western Europe so it was only a race. I think 2-player suffers for this very reason; neither cards or dice fix but cards make the efficiency / strategy more important.

(8/16): Close game tonight with Althea. I kept more route cards than was smart and was cut off from 2 cities. I didn't completely intend to cut her train *in half* but a 2-card section gave me the longest train. I still lost by it was only by 3-4 instead of >20. She used a station - neither of us had used one before. It saved a route for her netting her 5'ish points.

(9/27): Terrible defeat from Althea tonight. I miss-read my route cards, connected Essen not Berlin, and missed two routes. I didn't go for longest train and didn't place efficiently. Big loss for my last of 10. I sorta had fun - I couldn't believe I goofed so big.

(10/31): Lost again by 20'ish. I was one train short and we cancelled a ticket of each other's. I played one route inefficiently and could have done better but /sigh.

(11/29): We didn't even score. She trounced me. I had a plan but I couldn't draw a red.

(12/6): Our tickets puts us on opposite ends of the board - neither got longest train; we tied. We both used all our trains but she won with better placement / bigger sets.

(12/12): We decided to finish Althea's plays. She won the first even accounting for the ticket I screwed up - two cards any color short of my long route. I got the second two - though I felt a little guilty.

The Zwin Expansion might get mixed in this later this year.

Bonus:

Date: 1/10 x2; 1/14 x2; 1/28; 2/13 x2; 3/14; 3/22; 4/11; 5/9 x2; 5/25 x2; 7/17

Pre-playthrough: It is one of the few games that can cause an emotional response in me. My best plans wiped in moments. I enjoy this game.

(1/10): Althea wanted to play a game and I got to pick. I started strong in the first game and she never caught up (though it appeared close at mid-game). She beat me to canals and stayed focused there so I never got those points. The second, a completely different game. I got the "reduce the cost of hiring people 3 guilders" in my opening hand. It costs 12 but I thought wasting a round for $ would pay back later... little did I know. First round pestilence, 2nd round pestilence... oh my god, I don't have any brown cards to clear a chit and no money for a sacrificial person ... and, of course, a 3rd pestilence - dead person.
I was upset. Three rounds lost - this game loves making me hate it. I worked hard and 'only lost by ~15'. It was late and we didn't play a tie breaker.

(1/14): My night wasn't going well and Althea choose Bruges...lol. My strategies either hit the moon or crater so what happened? Two almost close games - Althea won. First game: after round 3 I couldn't get a Yellow card to save my life - or my game. Early on, lots of yellow so I had "needs yellow meeple" card for points and 3-yellow-houses scores. Playing both was just bad... you see it don't you... you can't get meeples if you are playing Yellow for houses. Well, I didn't get a Yellow for either; lost by ~8-9 (more than her statue). Second game: "I'm going to have fun and not be grumpy..." First hand: all expensive to play; all colors that rolled low... "this isn't going well". I tried to play better; only lost by ~5. No one got a statue but I got stuck in canals because I couldn't draw a Red.

(1/28): The game with no Purple for me. I finally got one at the end of the game and pressed for completion of the canal. I lost by 8 points. Cards like the Queen and other point generators seem to avoid me. I just need to develop better tactical understanding of this game.

(2/13): It was Friday-the-Thirteenth for Althea - I won two games. Honestly, she wasn't feeling well but she asked to play so I'll take it. I did better / got end-game cards early enough to work for points.

(3/14): Pie day game day. I won with canals and the guy who gives 2-points per canal section with every meeple.

(3/22): Althea wanted retribution and she got it. I had some good people and pushed for a Priest series VP guy. They did a good job but I left the canals undone for too long. I missed a statue by one card at the end. She won by 10/11 so one statue wouldn't have took it though.

(4/11): It is interesting that my 10th play was teaching our group Bruges. Althea and I like this one lots. Four player is much better with the attack cards since the ROI is better. Dante lost his first play but won the rematch with Althea at the table instead of me. I wouldn't have stopped him as he can see the card combos and is good at building them.

(5/9): Two rounds at Dantes. Althea won the first and Charmayne won the second. Dante noted that he was just ready to start getting lots of points when the game ended - he wasn't thrilled but that is exactly what Feld does well. The sprint of this game keeps everyone in the game once they understand it which removes Dante's "mastery of all games" bonus. They seem to like it since (as expected) Dan bought it.

(5/25): Two rounds at Dantes. I won the first and Dante won the second. Dante was very annoyed the second game because I got the 2 points per canal person. He doubled down on people and I lost meeples/workers in a bad event combo... in the end I came up short ~10.

(7/17): Taught to Andie, Hac, and wife (got to rem). When introduced, was told they like heavier games and this one did grab them. We had to cut it short by one hand-set (I checked) due to store closure. (very frustrating continuous problem). Hac's wife won - with my favorite 2pt/canal card... maybe it is to strong - when I pointed out what she needed to do.

We have several sets so this is just the picture. I suspect we will play singular and combined decks.

Date: 1/18 x2; 2/11; 3/15; 5/24; 5/31; 8/27 x2; 9/27; 10/11; 10/17

Pre-Playthrough:
We have lots of Ascension experience. I like how the different expansions have completely new feels. CotGS, as the first is very balanced and (almost) bland but I still like the thought process of remembering what your competition is drawing. RotF has lots of "kill constructs" cards so player interaction is much greater. We don't have the middle sets except on iOS but RU takes the Unite and Transform and does it well. I hope we can mix RotF and RU once to see how it works because the RU constructs are strong and multiply your power - one RotF kill-construct would make the mid/late-game very different.

(1/18): We played two games after our first Keyflower series. I won both* and I was shocked. The first game Althea kept nibbling at the points markers and, at the end, had 2-3 times mine BUT I kept getting perfect hands and big heros. I got three of the really-big heros: Vir, Aydau, and Emiri. (spelling is probably wrong...) I won by >20 points. The second game was much closer. I kept my deck as small as possible - discarded 6 Aprentices - and didn't draw HIs or Mystics on a couple of hands when possible. I had several "draw a card plus 'do something' cards" so I was cycling twice as fast though my deck was only ~20% smaller. At the end, I had taken the last point so the game should have ended but Althea was in mid play when I said something ... she was annoyed... she had a wonderful hand after a game of marginal ones... it was worth 16'ish points and would have won the game.

(2/11): It was late but we wanted to play something quick. Ascension: Realms Unraveled was on top of the stack. I enjoy this set but it is a race since there isn't any way to affect the other player. This time, however, both our decks were wrong - the game started with lots of monsters but after the 3rd round only 1-2 for the rest of the game. All the Heavy Infantry we bought were wasted. I pulled a 2 point win - she had more transforms though so did better despite losing.

(3/15): I wanted to play an older series and it was my choice - Ascension: Return of the Fallen. Her cards kept pulling monsters but my team pulled the victory.

(5/24): RoF with Althea. She got S the Fallen early and I couldn't catch up. I got Aydau later but he never showed in my hand.

(5/31): RU with Althea. I just rolled over it. I kept getting 3-6 stars with Lifebound heros every turn. I didn't get anything good until midway and then the cards wouldn't stay out of my hands.

(8/27): RF with Althea - I was abused. The first game I drew all the cards she needed and I was left with 1/2 n 1/2 hands that couldn't buy anything; 53 - 80-something. Second try the cards were closer. She thought I won but she got it by 7 points.

(9/27): Another defeat from Althea tonight - two for two. RU didn't pan out for me and my cards were horrible. I couldn't remember to do the simplest construct 'draw-two' when it triggered. The random tactical element of this game is hard for me when I'm tired and distracted. I was too whiny while playing because I kept making huge mistakes.

(10/11): This was my game today. As bad as my Waterdeep loss, this was a win. I got a couple of draw-1 cards early, grabbed Emiri, and just kept getting 7-9 card hands. Althea swore she wouldn't beat me as bad in Waterdeep ever again... if this was what happened afterward (she is such a fibber; she would clobber me at any chance).

(10/17): We went back to CotGS for our 'last play'. She got the 'draw and destroy' cards early and walked to an easy win 90-60ish. I had a stack of HI and Mystics.

I have all the T:A mixed so this is just the picture.

Date: 2/27; 3/20; 4/4; 5/30; 6/14

Pre-playthrough:
My 2014 Favorite. We have played Normal, Siege, and Epic styles and I enjoy all (Epic-Seige should have more than 2 though). I haven't sleeved Abyss and don't plan to buy Numenera.
I also won't consider life without http://www.thundermaster.net/... I wish it was an app so I could use when i don't have connectivity. (yes, there are cards... I'm just 'a little' lazy)

(2/27): I would have never guessed this one would have waiting until end-of-Feb to get its first play this year. We have been enjoying never games. This play was a good reminder of how fun this game plays - I was skeptical we were going to finish at mid-game. We were facing Undead Doom, Dragons, and Trolls. In the end, I beat Althea by the VP of the Thunderstone Bearer (Orseg). She was a little disappointed since she was going to kill him on her next turn.

(3/20): This was a rough game. I accidentally shuffled the level 1's under many of the level 2's and 3's. Our opening row was level 3 / 2 / 2 / 3. Through many rest's and prep's we finally killed Stramst. We knew we would have failed at a Siege.

(4/4): This was a rough game also. We played with the game group. All our hero's were 'wizard' class and the card combo's didn't align well. I tried to start strong but my deck faltered mid-game. I missed a primary level-3 I needed and couldn't regain my footing.

(5/30): We played a RoC-only Normal game. We booth seemed to start a little slow and my deck wasn't what I wanted. I didn't have a good balance of weapons and my Drarves kept arriving without their Mauls. I had to Prep to often. I think I like Siege the best with two.

(6/14): Stramst again. He just can't learn to stay down. Althea ran Thundermaster and set up the game. It was a good set of heroes and the village was ok - we has a Cleric and light spells. We marched through the monsters and I took finished it after a couple of prelude attacks that had to move to another monster.
