I didn't think I'd be doing this again, after only reaching the halfway point of our 2014 challenge in September. However, we managed to pick up steam, and finish the challenge with a week or so to spare. So after checking with my husband (who played in almost all of them) we came up with a new list of games.

Things learned from last year:
- no games that we can't play in an evening
- definitely pick an alternate this time
- pick games with some variety built in or from expansions

These are games we like, but haven't played in a while, or games where we have (an) expansion(s) that we haven't tried much or at all. And Pathfinder ACG, as we'll be playing that anyway.

We also have the Gosu: Kamakor expansion, and haven't played this since 2013. It will be interesting to get back to this one.

1. 1/1/15 - First play for the 10x10, we decided to start easy and get back into the game by using just the clans from Gosu. Hubby ended up with a lot of black and red clan guys, making me discard quite a few cards. Using blue and white (and later a few red guys), I caught up to a 2-2 tie, but in the last round hubby managed a win by mutating the mecha level 2 that gives a point when you do so. I probably would have win the last battle if he hadn't, as I was holding three level 3 guys that would have fit my army.

2. 10/1/15 - Another play with the clans from the base game during an evening of our ski trip. This time I had lots of cards the whole game, and I got the win!

We also have the next two games in the series (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Deck-Building Game and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Deck-Building Game), and haven't even tried the last one. So this is for all three of them, as they can be mixed and matched as well as played separately.

1. 8/2/15 - I played Boromir vs hubby's Gandalf, I won 66-55 (Fellowship of the Ring).

2. 15/2/15 - I played Gimli/Legolas vs hubby's Gandalf, I won 68-46 (Return of the King).

3. 8/3/15 - Hubby's Sam/Frodo beat my Pippin (56-52) (Return of the King).

4. 22/3/15 - my Aragorn beat hubby's Faramir (120-79) in a really long game, as we didn't manage to destroy the ring, and we needed a lot of turns to defeat Sauron (Return of the King).

5. 18/4/15 - hubby's Gandalf beat my Samwise (50-44) (Fellowship of the Ring).

6. 25/7/15 - BIL's Frodo beat my Arwen and hubby's Aragorn (53-42-21) (Fellowship of the Ring).

7. 26/7/15 - my Merry beat BIL's Pippin and hubby's Gandalf (100-42-30).

This will include Legendary: Dark City and Legendary: Fantastic Four. I've been thinking about getting the other expansions for this one, but we've only played what we have a few times. If we end up really liking this, I may still get the other expansion(s), and include those as well.

1. 19/1/15 - 2p game with hubby. We lost to Mephisto's Invincible Force Field.

2. 19/1/15 - and had another go immediately with the same setup. We managed to beat Mephisto, and hubby won 55-36.

3. 25/1/15 - 2p game with hubby. We beat Loki's plan to Unleash the Power of the Cosmic Orb, I won 39-14.

4. 30/1/15 - 2p game with hubby. We beat Apocalypse's Melting Glaciers at the last moment, and hubby won 46-30.

5. 24/2/15 - 2p game with hubby. We lost to Galactus's scheme to Bathe the Earth in Cosmic Rays very quickly.

6. 24/2/15 - so we tried again immediately, and though we did a lot better, we still lost .

7. 5/3/15 - 2p game with hubby. We got lost in Carnage's Web of Lies .

8. 7/3/15 - 2p game with hubby. We ended in a draw for the first time! The Guardians of the Galaxy managed to stop Thanos from finishing the Infinity Gauntlet, but he got away.

9. 12/3/15 - 2p game with hubby. The Guardians of the Galaxy stopped the Kree-Skrull War. I won 25-21.

10. 18/4/15 - 2p game with hubby. The Marvel Knights stopped the Prison Breakout.

11. 24/7/15 - 3p game with hubby and BIL. Thanos beat the Guardians of the Galaxy.

We recently got our own copy of this, and though we only wanted to take a look at Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island – Voyage of the Beagle (Vol. 1) at Essen, we didn't manage to walk away from the Pegasus booth without picking up a copy (and they included an extra scenario as well!). We've only played the first scenario of the base game so far, so I'm not even sure we'll get to the expansion this year.

1. 21/2/15 - 2p with hubby, die verfluchte Insel, Koch/Forscher and Freitag (though we killed him halfway through), we lost in the 9th turn (Forscher died as well), though it was quite obvious we weren't going to make it well before that.

2. 22/2/15 - 2p with hubby, die verfluchte Insel, Forscher/Zimmermann and Freitag. This time we made it, winning at the end of the 9th turn.

3. 13/3/15 - 3p with hubby and friend, Jenny braucht Hilfe, Zimmermann/Koch/Missionar, we lost as the Missionar died at the end of the 4th turn.

Another game I really like, and have a lot of expansions for, but we still have to play the 4th and 5th legend of the base game. And after that there's Legends of Andor: The Star Shield, Die Legenden von Andor: Der Kampf um Cavern, and Legends of Andor: Journey to the North to play through.

1. 21/2/15 - 2p with hubby, Rhega and Mairen went into the mine to try and get the jewels out. They failed miserably. This one seems a lot more difficult than the previous scenarios, but we've already thought of some things we should have done differently, so maybe next time...

2. 26/2/15 - 4p with hubby and friends. Marfa, Talvora, Fenn, and Chada tried to get the jewels out of the mine again, and we were a lot closer to making it, but we needed an extra turn (and more luck).

3. 25/4/15 - 2p with hubby, Kheela and Eara had another go at getting jewels out of the mine, we lost Kheela to the fires and that left Eara unable to finish the task.

4. 21/6/15 - 4p with hubby and friends. Base heroes, with wolfskrijger instead of dwarf. We lost again, only 2 points missing though .

One of the few 'bidding' games I like (because to me it doesn't feel like bidding). We have both expansions, and have barely played them, so... this will be a good chance to try the teams and other additions from Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game – Sudden Death, and Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game – Foul Play.

1. 3/3/15 - 3p with hubby and friend, dark elves vs goblins vs dwarves, dark elves win.
2. 31/5/15 - 2p with hubby, dark elves vs chaos dwarves, dark elves win.
3. 21/6/15 - 4p with hubby and friends, humans vs chaos vs wood elves vs orcs - humans win.
4. 25/7/15 - 3p with hubby and BIL, dark elves vs chaos dwarves vs undead - undead win.

I didn't really like the Village Port expansion on our one playthrough, but want to give it another try. And then there's the Village Inn expansion as well, that we've only played a few times.

1. 29/3/15 - 2p game with hubby, just the base game.
2. 28/5/15 - 2p game with hubby, just the base game.
3. 26/7/15 - 3p game with hubby and BIL, base game.

On paper this is the longest game on the list, but we've never managed to get past the second battle. I really like it though, and really want to finally get to Doomrock and win (or get beat up, which is more realistic considering our history playing this). Though this doesn't have an expasion, the random setup should bring variety.

1. 2/1/15 - 2p game with hubby. My Rogue and his Witch beat the Tomatoes pretty easily, but got stomped by the Wraith of Doom.

2. 4/1/15 - 2p game with hubby. My Warrior and his Mage got past the Zombie Horde, though they knocked the Warrior out, but the Goblin Shaman's Party proved too much for them.

3. 24/1/15 - 4p game with hubby and friends. Ranger, Mage, Witch and Paladin had some trouble with the Beasts of Doom (my Ranger was the only one left standing at the end of the battle). After that the Shadow Reapers were a bit easier (two of us managed to keep from being knocked out by them). Doomrock was defended by a Dragon, which was pretty easy to beat - which didn't seem right. So we checked after we won the battle, and we should have added a level 1 enemy as well - we thought those would come out through the Dragon AI cards, so we didn't add them from the start. So I guess another loss, though we did really win the first two battles this time, and the game seems easier with more heroes.

We got the Mr. Jack Extension at the same time we got Robinson, but we haven't played it at all. Having the new characters should bring enough variation to last us 10 plays.

1. 6/7/15 - I won as the investigator by guessing between the two options that were left.

The second game on the list without an expansion (I'm not counting the 1 Oktoberfest tile we have). We really like this game (especially 2p), and there's the random building setup, which should give us enough variety.

1. 2/1/15 - 2p game with hubby. We hadn't played for a while, and I'd forgotten that you really need a lot of buildings to get a lot of points. So I lost 28-16.5.

2. 1/2/15 - 2p game with hubby. I still lost, but did a lot better than last time (22.5-21).

The one game we want to play anyway, as we're still playing through the story for the first time. Last year's challenge got us up to the Hook Mountain Massacre, so there's easily enough scenarios for another 10 plays.

1. 3/1/15 - Harsk and Seoni tried again to survive the rising water in Here Comes the Flood. Harsk realized that he isn't the best at convincing allies to join his cause, so he kept in the background, leaving the recruiting to Seoni. She managed to find 4 allies, and with a lot of divine intervention Harsk convinced one more person to join them, just enough to save the day!

2. 3/2/15 - Harsk and Seoni fought at the Battle at the Dam. Seoni started by clearing out the Shimmerglens, finding the villain, and driving him off, while Harsk blocked his access to the Garrison. She then moved on to the Guard Tower, where she found the villain again. Harsk was still standing his ground at the Garrison, so the villain escaped to the Dam. Deciding Harsk would have an easier time closing off the Guard Tower after he managed to close off the Garrison, she moved on to the Dam, to beat the villain for the third an final time.

3. 5/2/15 - Harsk and Seoni went into the Mountains to try and defeat Basil Breakbones. Some careful scouting by Harsk made sure that they didn't get any surprise damage from the henchmen, and Seoni had a pretty easy time defeating the villain, with a little long distance help from Harsk.

4. 8/2/15 - Harsk and Seoni fought in the Siege of Sandport, and won quite easily.

5. 20/3/15 - Harsk and Seoni had a much harder time with the Jorgenfist scenario, for the first time in a long while we were counting how much time was left. Fun though, and we managed a win in Seoni's last but one turn.

6. 14/5/15 - Harsk and Seoni went into the black tower, and after getting into a very close encounter with a Harpy Monk, they thankfully managed to avoid the others and defeat the Black Monk.
