Overview:

Players are rival lords exploring lands on a new frontier of the Kingdom. They deploy settlers/workers to explore the lands and exploit the resources there, build towns and villages and grow the population. They can raise armed forces to attack their rival, but must also manage the resources they have to develop advances that benefit their people.

Actions are selected on a roundel, and seasons are tracked in a similar way.

Developments are presented on double ended cards, but be careful, only one of the developments on each card can be selected, do for each advance in learning, the world is deprived of another!

"Two sides locked in a tense battle for Supremacy face off in the Arena of Espionage. Each side deploys a team of Secret Agents tasked with infiltrating the Enemy’s Intelligence Offices and installing equipment capable of intercepting Valuable Communications. Agents may even be called on to smuggle the Intelligence out by hand. But this is only half the battle as these Agents are also responsible for the security of their own Intelligence Offices, and must take measures to counter Enemy Actions and prevent the release of Secret Information."

Herd the Flock

Across a hilly pasture, a flock of sheep are grazing the day away when two shepherds come across them. In this fishing style game for two, players compete to herd the highest overall value of sheep to their flocks. Some cooperation will be needed to keep the sheep alive because there are hungry wolves that are lurking on the edges of the pasture, looking for an easy meal.

This game can be played with a standard deck of cards by removing two 9's, two 10's, and Kings. The Queens should be used for the Black Sheep, they are worth 1 during the gameplay but subtract 2 points during scoring. The Jacks should be used for the Wolves.

Playing time: 20 - 30 Minutes

Overview

In Clash City, 2 Players take on the Roles of Super heroes or Villains clashing over the fate of a city. Each turn players choose 3 secret Location Cards and Units to patrol them. If both sides meet at a Location, then there is a battle using custom dice rolls, variable powers and special abilities. Play continues until 4 Buildings are destroyed. Victory points are counted and the winner is determined.

Powerstone

Overview

Powerstone

The dragon is dead! His dungeon is ripe for the picking. Many adventurers have been called to retrieve the dragons horde of treasures. Even though the dragon is long go, doesn't mean his treasure is unguarded, his allies remain vigilant in protecting their late masters possessions. Beyond that, the races of the lands want the treasure for themselves and will do whatever it takes to retrieve this wealth. Rumors of powerful gems called Powerstones are hidden in the depths of the caverns. These stones could be the last piece of the puzzle in gaining control of the land.

Two characters with unique powers battle against each other in an devious dungeon. The game is based on rolling lots of dice and allotting them to maximize your abilities. Players explore the dungeon that is generated from drawing cards from a deck. As they explore, they gain more dice (different skills) that they can use to gain added bonuses.

A player wins by bringing two legendary treasures back to the starting point. They must be cautious though, the other player can attack them and steal their treasure. The dungeon will fight back and try to keep its treasure. Grab some loot, seek out traveling merchants and level up to fight your way though the dungeon, and maybe you will find a mysterious Powerstone...

Title: Pocket Armada
A Micro-Wargame

Components: 8 cards (3 Ships Per Player, 2 Range-Finder Cards), 6 paper clips, 2d6 (or 2 coins)

Playtime: Approximately 15 minutes

Gameplay: Players take turns sailing their ships around the table top, trading cannon fire and maneuvering their way to victory.

A dice roll determines each ship's "movement" points per turn. Sailing is free-form; players may turn their ships at any angle, just like on the high-seas!

The distance between ships and their orientation toward one another (Chasing, Broadsiding, etc.) is the key to successful combat.

Players have 3 different types of ships in their armada, each varying in maneuverability and firepower.

Embrace your inner pirate... err... "privateer" and blow your friends out of the water with Pocket Armada!

Shea Nash. Hi guys, I just jotted this game down on note cards and my kids love it. I love it. Its my first attempt at a cooperative game, though maybe it could be played solo too...but I guess that is true of any coop game. I'm going to try my best at finishing this and I will have a playable version up soon, but I've got some grand art ideas that may make me end up with a few cards unfinished by the end of the contest. But it will still be playable (:

Overview

In EOTMA, two players join forces to usher in a new age! A monster-less age where there is peace for the Human race. 2 players choose their heroes to lead against monsters of all kinds; Living Castles, Necromancers, and Piranhas with legs! The End of the Monster Age will only come when you have wiped out every single monster.

Game Play

Players each select two heroes to lead.

Monsters are numbered 1-20,25,30. 4 monsters are played out of the deck in front of the players. Players decide which of the 4 monsters they will send their heroes to attack. Since heroes all roll dice differently according to their unique abilities, it will take strategy to place them right. Players place heroes in front of the chosen monsters. Players roll dice according to their abilities. If they roll a combined total above the number on the card of the monster that is attacked that monster is vanquished and removed from the game. All monsters that are not vanquished in the round are upgraded plus 5 to their number (This will be tracked by rotating the card), heroes take damage for an unsuccessful attack, and new monsters are added back to 4 monsters. Vanquished monsters drop treasure which give bonuses and can be used to modify dice rolls for the next round.

Monsters are upgraded to plus 10 and then they have your party surrounded. Any monster upgraded to plus 10 that survives the round will give every hero damage no matter if it was being attacked or not.

Win the game by defeating every monster.
Lose the game when one of your heroes dies.

Players take the role of mayor and chief planner of a new town. Each turn they must harvest resources from undeveloped plots, acquire new land and develop plots upon it. Different types of development like different types of neighbor (or not!) Landmarks periodically can be developed to raise your town's profile. But beware, calamity can strike! At the heart of the game is a dice rolling and card drawing and playing mechanism.

Overview

The is the result of a total overhaul of an entry in last year’s contest. Cluckbot is a head-to-head board game for 2 players. Each player controls a cluck, one of 10 models, each with its own set of attacks, utilities, and exploits.

You have 8 turns in the pit. Your goal is to either:
Win by Elimination - Damage all your opponent’s armor or force them off the platform before all turns are played
Win by Decision – Survive all 8 turns less-battered than your opponent

A single cataclysmic event has occurred sending massive energy clusters outward through the universe. Players compete to shape the universe as it expands over the millennia and into the outer reaches of the void.

Micro Cosmic will be the third game in my Dex Trifecta series of games and to remain consistent with the series it will be designed with these particular perimeters:

1) No more than one page of components
2) No more than one page of rules
2) 15 - 20 minutes assembly maximum
4) Wood and plastic discs will be the only components used
5) Small enough to fit into a small felt bag
6) Flicking dexterity mechanic as the core mechanic

Picture a Tower Defense game. This is it. Asymmetric two player game where the players are an Orc horde attacking and a brave Humans defending their castle. This game features a modular board, deck-building element but both players construc the same deck. Each player has 7 different cards to purchase but the game still fits in a 54 card deck. As the attacker get your creatures to the castle, as the defender builds walls to fend the creatures once and for all.

The Adventurers square off against the Monsters in a narrow mine shift, meaning that only two opponents can face off in hand-to-hand combat at the same time. Their allies can shoot ranged attacks or special attacks if they can see over the heads of everyone in front of them. Roll one or two dice and assign them to characters to use their combat ability. Clear the mine of your opponent and victory is yours!
