Another night of cancellations. Janelle and Nancy Lyn were not feeling well (get well soon!) and Travis and Amy's lives are very hectic right now.

But we did get semi-regular gamers but not members of Meetup David and Mary Starr. Plus Wes who comes directly from work so can't RSVP. Melissa uncharacteristically did RSVP.

We appreciate RSVPs (so we can plan what games to bring and to know if we should wait) but are not mandatory to enjoy our events. We meet most weeks and have a game day most months. Our full schedule is available here: http://www.meetup.com/boardgames-495

Still no Melissa. Mike volunteered to step out so he could look at River City's game collection.

First play for David and Mary Starr.

I was 2 workers away from finishing the Great Wall. I had 5 dice so the odds of not getting either 2 or 3 workers was ~13% (1 - 2/3 ^ 5).I rolled 3 skulls, a food I needed, and something else. I rerolled that, and yes, got a skull (so a net -7 points, since no one else had medicine.

Then, Wes rolled 3 workers on 3 of his dice* and finished the Great Wall (I finished it later, so a net 10 points difference.) Not that I am bitter or anything.

Wes 27
David 21
Mary Starr 20
Brian 19

* I'll likely come back later and calculate these odds. Don't remember if he had 5 or 6 cities at this time. The odds with 3 dice is 1/216 (1/6 ^ 3), the odds are better with more dice

With 2 new players RttA was taking longer than usual. Melissa asked what would be a good 2 player game. I suggested Castles of Burgundy. Melissa was willing to try since she was upset I gave her the beginner board last time.

It was Melissa's second play and it had been a while for Mike. They figured out that the 3 and 4 spots should be left open and I mentioned the other rule changes (selling goods is 2 points per tile, the region bonuses are the lowest value).

Melissa 198
Mike 148

Mary Starr called it a night. Given the time available and the complexity I was willing to teach, I suggested Glen More.

First play for Wes. Second play (I think) for David and it had been a while since his last play.

David had a nice engine going with the sheep + cow butcher plus an annual fair. But his village was getting big. Wes grabbed a tavern (and the dice took another) plus the bridge.

Wes 46
David 41 (-15 points from bloat)
Brain 36 (9 coins + 6 from Iona Abbey + 4 from a tavern. The rest from end round scoring. I claim teaching)
