I'm participating in the 10x10 Hardcore Challenge this year, because it has hardcore in the title, and I'm pretty sure that means there'll be full frontal nudity.

You can learn more about the challenge, and possibly be exposed to jiggly bits, here: 2015 Challenge: Play 10 Games 10 Times Each

Also, I'm just about to trip the 500 games mark in my collection, and I really need to play many more of them more often. This seems like a good first step.

I've had this game for a couple of years, have every year one expansion and enough of the base sets and expansions to play with the maximum number of objective sets, and have only played four times to date. That's insane. I simply must do better. The hefty rule book and cumbersome nature of the game (compared to other card games) presented a barrier to entry that brought lots of DBGs to the table instead, but we're going to make up for that, starting now.

Picked up this game during a sale at my favorite almost-local game shop, and was happy to find that in addition to its charming hero-building gimmick, there's a real game here with real decisions and fun exchanges. I look forward to playing more and more of this in 2015.

I had originally signed up to back this on Kickstarter, but had a chance to acquire a complete copy of Warhammer Quest instead for nearly the same price. I didn't regret that, but once I saw Sentinel Tactics in the FLGS, I realized that it was going to scratch an itch none of my other superhero themed games could. I really like the way they've incorporated the characters and signature cards/powers/equipment from SOTM. Given that I invested in the expansion and minis as well, I have to play it more to justify what I've invested (especially since I bought that WHQ, too!).

I scratched another game off the list tonight to add this because this game design is just beautifully tight and well executed, and despite my vast collection of dungeon crawlers, this doesn't play like anything else I own. I really want to introduce my 14-year-old son to it, because it's more asymmetrically-balanced than the pvp games we usually play.

I own a ton of X-Wing stuff, because when I picked up a couple of starter sets when it was released, my son and I played quite a few fun little dogfights, and I was smitten enough to go on a buying spree with subsequent waves. Odd thing happened, though, the more stuff I bought, the more cumbersome the game became, and the less likely it became that we'd pick up and play it. Building teams became a chore and the games became bogged down. I wanted to get back to the simplicity of the initial exposure to the game, and I think I've found that with an online random squad generator here: http://fabpsb.free.fr/ Can't wait to try a few completely randomly-generated tilts.

I kickstarted this at the level that got me both starter sets and plenty of extras, because I love dungeon crawls above all other types of boardgame, and I love Flying Frog more than any other game company out there.

Shadows has the potential to become my all-time favorite game, because I love Weird West settings like Deadlands and Malifaux, and I love co-ops. Put it in the blender with my core affinities for these types of games, and it could be magic. So, I have to play it (A LOT) to see if that's the case.

I love all things Lovecraft, from the CoC RPG, to his short fiction, to Arkham Horror and other HPL board games. This year, my son caught the bug, too, so all of a sudden, he has a real interest in digging into these games with me.

Eldritch Horror really seemed to fix everything that caused some mixed feelings in my gaming group about Arkham Horror. It's just easier to get to the table while still providing much of the same Old-One-Fighting adventure game. I want to push this advantage by really throwing ourselves at it several times in 2015.

I mentioned SOTM earlier in this list when I added Sentinel Tactics, but for me, I really wanted to add this game after playing 36 games of the DC Deck Building Game for my son's science fair project (where we were testing the efficacy of the various starter set heroes). I got so sick of that game and the choices that became so obvious they weren't choices, that I yearned for a superhero card game with more depth, story, and cooperation. Marvel Legendary would fit that bill in many ways, but SOTM presents an even fresher departure. Look, I genuinely like the DCDBG, and have played it more than any game in my collection, bar none, but I need to play a lot of everything else for a while to remember why that is.

I love Elder Sign. When it hit, I marveled at how they married such a simple dice game with the mythos in a way that managed to work so well. Throw in the new Gates of Arkham expansion and I'm happy to have a fairly light game to add to this 10x10 list that features a few heavyweights. This will get us our HPL fix when it's just not feasible to get Eldritch Horror to the table.

I've mentioned my love for Dungeon Crawlers previously. My love for Star Wars should also be evident. Imperial Assault, much like Shadows of Brimstone, feels like a game that was made to hit almost all of my sweet spots. As a fan of the Descent Engine this is built on, I'm really excited to try it out ... but my preorder included all of the initially-announced expansions, so I won't get this until mid-March. I'm going to use this list as an excuse to play a lot of other things until then ... and then to play this a bunch once it arrives. (My friend just bought the base set this week, though, so maybe I can even sneak in a couple of games before I receive mine).

This somewhat under-the-radar game is, in my mind, the ultimate deckbuilder for me. It's got the broad tableau of available cards like Dominion. It has the evolving track of supporting cards and villainous cards like Legendary. It has the fantasy theme I adore, mixed with this feeling that your deck really represents building an archetypal fantasy RPG character. Throw in the story that evolves depending on the enemy faction you face, and it's a phenomenally rewarding smorgasbord of DBG goodness. I'm adding it to this list because, sick as I am of some of the DBGs like Ascension and DC that can be super swingy because of the way the cards available for purchase change from one player's turn to a next, I need one with as much depth and story as this one.
