jumped in to rescue the project.

The Razor's Edge is a hex and counter wargame with simple yet clever mechanics and outstanding artwork.
Go for it, folks - it's worth it!

I just whipped up this up the other day. Easy PnP to make. I have the files printed for the bigger brother PnP, but decided to start with this. Played through this Blade Runner-like world murder investigation card game. Lots of fun. Takes about 30 minutes to play.

Thanks to wrapping up a few projects on the 28th, I don't have anything planned at the moment, so between this one getting a mention on the weekly PnP news and me having backburnered it several times already, I'll go ahead and say that this is the month I put together and play ZimP.

I prepared all pnp files for printing in local photo lab.

And added my own design (look at game page) for:
- box for tiles,
- board,
- cities tokens.

Dollar store cap guns
Nice heavy poker chips
Red Plastic Gems for Blood Counters
Retheme Card Deck (Enough cards for seven players)
Printed Rule Book
All put together into a nice photo box

I had intended to fancy up the box with a wrap, but at best I think I'll stencil a title onto it. I got it played a handful of times just the way it is and everyone had a great time.

Next will be to print up some more cards to get up to 10 players, add a shotgun, add a sword, etc...

(Photo soon)

Made a mini poker size version of the spanish cards based on this:

Board Game: Bohnanza

We will be at a family reunion in Mexico this month and I wanted to bring something fun

Here is a picture of some of the finished cards. Standard mini poker size, 1.75 x 2.5. They are easy to read and the art work is great! Looking forward to introducing this to my spanish speaking family members.

We got in a 5 player game last night with these cards, besides the difficulty shuffling, there were no issues with handling or legibility. A great time was had by all and I was able to introduce the game to two new gamers

I am working on Ukrainian Crisis; I hope to be able to play it with my friend sometime soon - but we have a huge backlog of war games to be played!

Still, I hope to get this on the table soon! But first I need to be finished making it:

All parts are printed out on A4 paper; The board, counters and cards are printed on some thick paper but rules are printed on normal paper in "booklet" style (giving two blank pages in the ends).

Everything needs to be cut out carefully, and I will be starting with the cards.
When I get to the counters I will cut the two halfs out and then put them together instead of folding; I am sure this will give the best result - apart from cutting each component out.

Why did I choose A4? Simple: My printer can't do A3 and I don't want to pay a printing service for this until I know if I like the game or not; then maybe I will let them print it in some heavy stock - or in some regular A3 which I then can mount on some thick cardboard.

Edit 1) As for dice, I think I will use some of the bullet dice from Warfighter;
The cards says d4, d6 and d12 - however this have been changed in the v1.2 rules of June 2014 to be 1d6 and 2d6. So for my game I will add two of the 9mm bullet dice from my copy of Warfighter.
It does not seem that the game after v1.2 needs anything else but 2d6

Edit 2) Just a little update now that I am finished cutting out all the cards and counters: I made a test of the paper I used by cutting a strip from the white frame (the part that had to be thrown out anyway), and gluing two chips together. This I found too flimsy still. Then I made a new test with two chips glued on one of my business cards - this was much more what I liked!
It is a little harder to get them aligned but I almost managed to perfection! A few of the counters had to have one of the sides reglued when I cut them but it was only five or so. the counters took about 2½ business cards (all rows; 4 columns per card (minus less-than 1 cm excess) and a card which only took 2 columns).
For now I will not fortify the event cards by mounting them on business cards, but I might change my mind later. As far as I could see, the colours did not shine much through except when lifting so I will see how it works out. If I change my mind (or anyone wants to do this; one business card can hold two event cards).

I very often use business cards to mount on, as I have some excess cards which I never use, so I might as well use them for something creative.

Edit 12/03/2015 - 1113 Alpha:
I have for some time wanted to debrief you with some photos of the Ukrainian Crisis, and finally I have gotten some photos ready to show. Most of the photos are raw, unedited shots of the reality. Comments will follow:

Expansion

Comments: The Crisis seems worse than expected; The Black Sea and the Sea of Azoz have been polluted by a faulty printhead of an OfficeJet Pro... This have to be stopped! But I will not print a new map of UAC in this printer, as I have come to the conclution that even thou A4 at first actually seemed fitting, I now realize that the size of the counters contra Prestige-o-Meter is not correct: This can lead to a mess-up in case of a difference-1 stand between Russia and Ukraine. I hope to get access to an A3 printer and try my luck with that one. The expansion might stay A4 - but I might do an A3 print of it anyway, but the resolution of it does not seem fit for A3. Just as well; I will write the designer to see if he will correct the mistaken Oblast.

Carry on with your assignments.

All pictures is made as a mockup, and may or may not be legal in actual game!

Still running this one through its paces, which means a lot of cutting out cards to test against the base cards. Right now, adding 1 unique card or add a field or upgrade tech for each player, so as to give the players a bonus and asymmetrical opening hand/tableau.

I'm going to post it to the pnp thread, but I still have clipart as the artwork, so I have to call it a playtest copy, but it can be played in its entirety. Not sure about adding the files to the game page without owning the art, so I am holding that back right now. So, anyone interested I have them in my dropbox folder:

prototype cards:

Patrons smaller on one sheet, plus goods, etc. (Addition copies of goods pages only should be printed for more than 2 players)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15208304/farmers%20marke...

2 Player decks plus tech and fields and state farm and blue ribbon (print twice for 4 players or selective printing for 3 players)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15208304/farmers%20marke...
note: an extra card in the State Fair cards will be printed each 2 player deck, it is not used.

rules:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15208304/farmers%20marke...

quick theme rundown: plant. grow. harvest. sell. The deckbuilding in it is more like un-deckbuilding at times, and not the real buying cards to add to your deck that a deckbuilder has. So, I don't know what to call it except a deckbuilder without any deckbuilding; but that makes no sense. Place a seed into your deck. eventually it comes up and you harvest it. The card play is not dominion-like either. Closer to Wallace's A Few Acres of Snow, minus the war aspect; though competing for customers might get heated.

I prefer the French art for this one. I'm just not a huge fan of the Resistance universe. I'll probably make the Reformation expansion too.

If I like it I plan to spend the time making Coup: Rebellion G54 or tracking down a copy to buy...

Pics to follow.

Update #1 3-10-2015
Been putting together the files to print for this.

Here is what I have so far...

From gallery of spikedone

I don't really like the quality of the Catholic/Protestant images, but not being a graphic artist it is proving rather difficult to touch them up.

It has also been taking me a while to translate the rules from French to make a rulebook (my French is pretty rusty). I couldn't find the English rulebook anywhere. Turns out the French edition supports up to 8 players though, so that is pretty neat.

Update #2 3-15-2015
90% done. Here are the rulebook, cards, and player aids. I still need to finish the rules card for the expansion and find tokens to use for coins.

Update #3 3-18-2015
Rules for the expansion are finished as well as player aids for the expansion. Should finish up the box in the next few days.

Update #4 3-20-2015
Just finished the boxes. Still haven't made the coins, but that may take me bit longer. I also plan to make a box for the coins that will sit in the space above the two tuck boxes.

Update #5 3-25-2015
Just finished the final touches, including: a Treasury box to keep the coins in and the coins.

From gallery of spikedone
From gallery of spikedone
From gallery of spikedone

As you can see I made the Treasury box just the right size to fit snuggly above the tuck boxes for the base game and the expansion. I made the coins by using wooden circles I found at Michael's and coloring them with metallic colored Sharpies. I designed the coin faces in Inkscape using images of Madame Pompadour and Robspierre as I thought significant historical figures from the French Revolution were appropriate with quotes from each in French around their portraits. This was also my first chance to use my new arc punches I got a couple weeks ago to punch out the stickers from full sheet label paper.

No, I didn't print the whole game; however, I did print off some scoring cards to hand to players as their bikers cross the finish line. These are for simple scoring only, but if I ever start playing with the sprint points and yellow jerseys I will make some more.

So I decided to pretty up this game a touch that I saw from last month's list. Going to be working on this though with Gamestorm coming in a few weeks I'm not sure it'll get done until afterwards.

This needs to be added to the database for sure. Probably going to use regular poker cards for the backs of the cards and likely the poker chips as Nick did for his last month.

Edit: Got the game added to the database. Will now add links and pictures as well.

Couldn't resist. Cards were made via my new method of printing the backs on cardstock and the fronts on labelstock at roughly 4% less. Everything is cut out separately and then assembled and sleeved.

Can't wait to give this one a spin.

I'm in need of more solitaire games; so, I decided to give this one a try. Easy build.

Printed this new CDG political game. Quebec circa 1837. Kind of in the manner of Twilight Struggle or 1989. Not complex, but deep like 1989 and TS. Over a 120 cards for the game, nice map, and some interesting mechanics used in this game. You don't just play your card for the points, you kind of do, but you have to spend the points through a political leader or activist that is on the board, they are usually local leaders or national leaders, and each have various effects on your placement of influence in certain counties/provinces. Both sides are trying to get a leg up politically before the disagreement turns into a full-fledges rebellion. So far pretty interesting.

You'll see the Opportunities Track below, certain amount of cards are available face up, for each to grab, but you only have a certain amount capital to use them. On your turn you can play a card from your hand or one from the Opportunities Track.

Some of the leaders in the game:

The Will of Rebellion Track, is one way the game can end. If you are the Patriot Player, and the rebellion gets out of control too fast, you lose because you are not ready for it.

Mobilization--you use points from your card to activate leaders, then you take the cubes from the leaders on the board in order to influence the provinces. Whoever has the most mobilization/influence in a province controls it.

I'm still playing my way through this. But so far it's very unique in the sense I haven't' seen cards used this way.

As with the original Qwixx, I would rather use laminated player mats than the paper tearoff sheets. I like the extra variety that this new version of Qwixx gives, can't wait to give it a shot this weekend!

I've made this tile laying/drafting game. I've decided to just print and laminated the tiles for an easier build but the game would be way better with thick tiles.

Played one 3p "test game" (me VS me VS me) and one 2p game.

I like it very much

To add to my solitaire collection, here is Island of D. Easy to put together. Looking forward to giving this a try.
