) Looking for lighter and quicker, I came upon Pocket Civ which is pretty quick and has a lot going on. Then I got Nations as a gift and like Goldilocks finally finding the perfect porridge/chair/bed, this was what I was looking for.

Nations has good variability and replayability via player boards where you can play one of 5 different civilizations, each with their own advantages. Also, there is a tableau of cards to be drafted every turn, so you never know what is going to come up (or not come up) and the AI always seems to grab the card you want.
