A list of my current Top Ten Games. This might seem somewhat limited to other users as I am only choosing from my current collection of games, which isn't a lot. I expect this list to change somewhat frequently as I get new games and, possibly, get tired of older ones.

Like most of my games, I learned about this one from Rahdo Runs-Through. I was not disappointed. The game mechanics are so perfectly balanced. I think it says a LOT that the theme is "farming" (not the most exciting theme, especially given the multitude of fantasy and sci-fi options out there), and yet it considered one of the best board games out there. I can't disagree. The most elegant and fun worker-placement game I own.

Not as popular with my gaming group as others on this list, but myself and one friend of mine in particular play this every chance we get. We LOVE the theme and really get into it each time we play. My friend even gave me some custom painted miniatures to use as agents and we have the DnDeeples for our adventures. Really adds great flavor to the game. We never get tired of this one. Only to be played with the Scoundrels of Skullport expansion though, in our opinion.

I'm a fan of most of Days of Wonder's games, so I was very pleased to find that Five Tribes was one of their best. The game mechanics are a nice twist on old formulas and the random nature of the board and meeples adds a ton of replay-value. My wife loves this game a LOT, so that really brings this one up several notches. The artwork and components are beautiful; it's a fun game to setup, let alone play. Not everyone's cup of tea, but a favorite in our household.

Best group/party game I own. Not that I own a ton. My gaming groups love how quick each game is, and we all LOVE lying through our teeth and trying to outwit each other. Very accessible for "non-gamers" as the strategy relies on your own ability to conceal/reveal the truth. The best thing I can say is that I introduced it to some friends of ours one night, who said they were willing to give it a try or two, but had to leave early that night to get home, and ended up staying WAY past their deadline in order to play again, and again, and again. I think we played it about 10 or 11 times that night. Loved every minute of it.

I don't get to play this one as often as I would like, as it doesn't seem to be a big group-favorite. There are really only a few friends I have who are patient and willing enough to play it all the way through. It is also a longer game than most I have, which makes it a bit less accessible. However, the cat and mouse play that ensues between Jack and the constables is fantastic! I love logic-based games and this one uses that element wonderfully. I also find it one of the more thematic games in my collection. Great to play at Halloween!

Love this game! And it helps that ALL of my gaming friends love it too. We play with all the expansions, though no one ever goes for Leaders (yawn). Easy to teach/learn, fairly quick playing time and hilarious race/power combinations make this a crowd favorite every time. The replay-value is very high.

When my gaming group wants to just have a LOT of laughs and not worry about strategy, this is our go-to. There is never a dull moment reading, listening to and experiencing the never-ending adventures to be found in this game. At the end of the night, it is never about who one or lost, but about the memorable and hilarious stories that are told through our adventures. I can remember more specifics about each time I play this game than any other simply because of the awesome stories that get told. A must have.

One of the most unique co-op games in my collection, this is ALWAYS a group favorite. Nothing gets our voices louder and more tense than playing a round of Escape. The frantic, desperate struggle to get out alive is unmatched in any other game. And knowing that each game lasts exactly 10 minutes, it's easy to get people willing to try. The soundtracks are excellent and the expansions continue to add new challenges, ensuring the game never gets easy. A good co-op game should kill you more often than not, and Escape doesn't disappoint.

Another group favorite. This game is easy to teach/learn and doesn't take forever to play. These are always welcome qualities in my game collection. The almost limitless replay-value of this game is a huge factor here. Like Small World, this game requires each player to change their tactics and strategies for every single game. There is no "one-way-to-win". It's elegant and simple and yet somehow still very strategic.

Not the "best" game, by a long stretch, but the one I've played more than any other. By a long shot. This is the first really "big" fantasy game I ever played. I was introduced to it by a friend way back in junior high, over 25 years ago. I'm still playing it today. The box is falling apart, despite the decades of tape and rubber bands struggling to hold it together. I have all the expansions, except the ever-elusive Dragons. It takes a whole day to play, but the gang I play with look forward to our Talisman adventures like Christmas. We only play once or twice a year, but when we do, it is an EVENT.
