Welcome to the ever popular Logistics box of Generosity...

Your First Citizen is sponsoring the next Chain of Generosity for 2015. We fortunate thrifters often find multiple copies of games that others just can't seem to find at all. As a part of my Redistribution Plan for our Thrift Wealth and to assist in future prosperity, it's time to kick-off another Logistics Box. Here's your chance to assist your fellow citizens of the Thrift State and have a bit of fun as well.

If you prefer to get huge boxes of stuff, drop by and register for the Container of Generosity: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/188837/2015-thrift-gui...

This is limited to THRIFT GUILD members; you should be a member of the Guild AND have posted a thrifty find on one of the weekly lists at some point.

The rules are pretty simple; here's how it will work:

1) Folks will register on this list. Registration will close sometime around 5 April. Once it closes to new entries, the list will turn into a reporting list (i.e. tell us what you got).

2) When you receive the box, simply take out 0 to all the games out of the box and check your self off of the list. Replace them with as many as you want, but there must be at least 3 games in the box. REPORT EVERYTHING YOU TAKE OUT REGARDLESS IF YOU INTEND TO KEEP IT OR NOT.

There must be at least 2 games in the box that are complete and of an AVERAGE rating 5.85 or greater (note rating difference from the Container). ANY games with a 0 for a rating or less than 3 ratings will be treated as 5.85. There can be more in the box and these can be incomplete. It would be a courtesy if you posted a note in the game of what is present/missing if incomplete.

3) Post what you take out on THIS registration list (which will turn into a report your finds list). You must post to the list; if you took nothing out of the box, post that you took nothing and passed it along. At no time do you reveal any games that remain in the box, only what you removed.

Also post whether there is a duplicate of any game in the box - not what the duplicate is, but that there is a duplicate. You are allowed to call foul if there are less than 2 games that are below a 5.85 rating. This will serve as public humiliation to the last person to have the box... (I'm benevolent, but Redistribution requires honor!) These duplicates/fouls may also impact any contest I run.

4) Select a person to send to... You can select folks that are easier for you to ship to or by games you think they will enjoy based on what is in the box.

5) When you select the person, mark them off the list included in the box - ensure this list stays with the box as it goes around. I'll repeat: ensure this list stays with the box as it goes around. This is essentially the list of the people with their addresses!

NOTE: The expectation here is that you will use a LARGE FLAT RATE USPS BOX (either the Boardgame Box or a standard Large Flat Rate Box) you are free to change the box to a Regional Box if that is useful for you to accommodate size without making it too expensive. Only Canadians with a US Postal Address can participate in this chain unfortunately.

Also the expectation is that there will be at least 2 complete games in the box with a rating of 5.85 or greater and at least 3 games total in the box. There are often many more. It is expected that people will squeeze games inside other games as "if it fits, it ships".

Proper participation is on your honor, but I believe we geeks can do this without State oversight.

I'll be starting us off and I'll be the end of the chain (i.e. I'll be on this list with the expectation I am last). When it gets back to me, the chain is complete.

When you register, please provide the following details:

+ your user name

+ your location: city, state, and zipcode (Canadians need to have a US address) ALSO, email me your full address, so I can add it to the list that will go in the box.

+ dates you know you will not be around for more than 4-5 days, that way people can avoid sending it to you as the next person in the chain when you aren't around to receive it

+ 4-5 games that you are currently enjoying (and a why you like them if you like),

+ 4-5 you have seen more than once on the thrift lists you want - the first game you are interested in should be the Geeklist entry item to catch people's attention,

+ 4-5 things you like in games (mechanics, themes, etc.)

These can be used to help guide people to select what they add into the box.

For this list, YOU MUST be a Thrift Guild member to participate and have posted to the Thrift Lists at some point. It isn't that hard to join the best community within BGG.

All games exchanged through the Generosity Lists are expected to be Thrift finds. (They are not required to be though.) This means they may have tape or writing on the boxes, box damage (dishing, split corners), and possibly copies of the rules. All game pieces (or at least nice SUITABLE replacements) will be present unless noted otherwise.

By joining this list, you 1) understand and agree to these rules and 2) promise you will ship any item to the person to be gifted within 3 standard work days to the best of your ability. Additionally, I would recommend posting the tracking information on the list.

Thanks everyone and I'll be interested to see how many sign-up.

I seem to ALWAYS be here shake

+ 4-5 games that you are currently enjoying (and a why you like them),
(You may notice a subtle theme: "getting my wife to play board games with me")

Modern Art - Great theme and good mechanics. My wife likes the artwork, the bidding, and the ability to 'influence' players with her saleswoman-fu.
DC Deckbuilder - The kids and I like the theme, wife HATES it. I love deckbuilding and I know she would too, just not this one.
Dixit - She is all over this theme, elegant game (except that we can never remember the scoring system).
Hey, That's My Fish - We all love this! (Especially the deluxe penguins)
Blokus- The kids and I love this abstact; the wife, not so much...
Love Letter - This game wins with everyone.

+ 4-5 you have seen on the thrift lists you want

Food Games - Morels, Bohnanza, Wok Star, Sushi Go, Wasabi, A La Carte (some of these MAY not have been thrifted...)
Reef Encounter- oooo pretty!
Paperback - She likes to write, I like deckbuilders...

+ 4-5 you have not seen on the thrift lists but that you want (cheating, I know, but I would LOVE to get these games!)

Prêt-à-Porter - A business sim about making dresses! Sign me up!
Dungeon Petz - Growing monsters cute little animals. She would love this
CV - Making the story of someone's life; this would win!

+ 4-5 things you like in games (mechanics, themes, etc.)

Theme is paramount - if, when my wife hears the game's topic, she doesn't immediately think "Wow, that would be fun!", it prolly won't make it to the table. Non-combative, non-fantastic themes win more: cooking, farming, animals, artwork, even business and transportation.
Elegance is important to me. By that I mean that the rules flow from the theme, are simple to pick up, and don't obstruct. OK, I really mean that the rules are only a couple pages long...
Influence: My wife loves to be able to influence others through negotiation and table-talk (Jedi mind tricks).

+ dates you know you will not be around for more than 4-5 days
July 27th

+ 4-5 games that you are currently enjoying (and a why you like them)

Kingsburg - love the overall mechanics of this game

Star Relams - The only deck builder I have really enjoyed. love the 4
faction simplicity of it.

Heroscape - me and my son love to play this

Superfight - Never laughed so hard with friends and family

Smashup - I game that can always get to the table no matter who is there

+ 4-5 you have seen on the thrift lists you want

People write insane things in this part. to be honest if I have seen it I bought it. having said that I will post things I have seen people acquire:

Acquire =)

Risk Express

Drako

For Sale

+ 4-5 things you like in games (mechanics, themes, etc.)

I'm not big on deck builders but besides that I am willing to get anything to the table. my son plays the most with me and he is 9 but
has been "vaselized" as far as his ability to play games beyond his age. also if you know a game my wife would play that would be great. hard to get her to the table. she likes don Quixote, love letter and 10 days.

Thanks for doing this again. Most of this is copied from last year, but I've updated it and it's accurate.

User name: fur94

Location:
Monona, WI 53716

Will be home for the conceivable future.

Currently enjoying:
Pandemic and Forbidden Island:
I play these solo and with my son. Like the puzzle nature and challenge.
Eclipse: A perfect trifecta for me, sci-fi, civ and economics.
Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game: A solo sci-fi dungeon crawler that is quite challenging.
Lords of Waterdeep: I started playing this a lot on IOS, and now my son is old enough to enjoy the tabletop version. I like building combos and the worker placement.
Spot It:
My most played game with my son and daughter, which I like most because of the family time. It's also good at keeping games close between our age differences.

Would love:
Throneworld:
A classic sci-fi game that I've never seen in the Madison area.
Carcassone Traders and Builders: I've started playing the base game more, and would like to find this expansion.
Castle Panic: My son and I enjoy coops, and this is one we haven't tried.
Bits: I design Print and Play games, and could always use small cubes, chips or pawns. I also thrifted a Rail Barron which was missing the pawns and chips, and would like to find something better than the Malarkey tokens I'm using.

Enjoy these mechanics:
I'll play just about anything, but tend to favor Euros, Ameritrash and Abstracts. Solitare options, especially on games that aren't family friendly themes (8 and 5 year-old kids) are helpful. Co-ops are great if appropriate. I love sci-fi and civ games.

4-5 games I am currently enjoying (and why I like them)

* Fleet - I'm really enjoying this game. I like the resource management and how no two games are the same.
* Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small - The only game I've played in the Agricola family, but I really like it. The short game length, having to make hard decisions, and animeeples are some of the reasons why.
* Jambo - I just got this in a trade and have only played twice, so I haven't even experienced the full game yet. That said, I like game's action point-style turns and the possibility of having a surprise draft or auction in the middle of the game.
* Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of Ashardalon Board Game - this game and the other D&D Adventure System games are fun for a quick dungeon crawl, but right now I'm enjoying this one because I've been having a lot of fun painting the minis.

4-5 I have seen more than once on the thrift lists that I want
* Acquire is the only thing that readily comes to mind. I'd be happy with any intact, complete version.
* KOSMOS games are something I'd like to explore
* Modern Art
Otherwise, I'm just happy to receive a mystery box full of games.

4-5 things I like in games (mechanics, themes, etc.)

* 2P games with interesting themes
* Hidden roles (Citadels, The Resistance, etc.)
* Non-abstracts (but I'd love regular-sized Hive: The Mosquito or Hive: The Ladybug tiles)
* Worker placement

Your First Citizen (aka pmboos) hails from Falls Church, VA 22044 when not in the State's Capital of Rosebud.

Dates Unavailable: Out the week prior to 4 July for my son't summer camp at Goshen. Uncertain beyond that, so I think it would be just a day or two...

Currently my family and friends and I are enjoying:

Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia
PitchCar
Eight-Minute Empire: Legends
El Grande
Glass Road
The Speicherstadt
NOIR: Deductive Mystery Game
Downfall of Pompeii

Games I've seen on the Thrift Lists that I'd enjoy...

The 3M Gamettes Octrix, Sum-Up, or Tryce; I'd really love to get the cards I am missing from my 3M copy of Monad: Bonus Card, Light Blue Identity Card, and a Green Common Card.

I'm mostly looking to shed some games really to people that I hope will enjoy them. There are only a few I'd like to get...

Ticalla Jungle for Heroscape - looking to play this more with my son.

Castles of Burgundy - looks very interesting.

The Fury of Dracula - I had this and I let my wife convince me to trade it away after only one play; I think the richness of the theme in this one makes it something I'd like to get again.

The green pirate ship's stand for Space Pirates.

The cards, instructions, and money for Daytona 500.

The 1 red piece, the 1 blue piece, and the 2 green piece, as well as the rules for Sudden Death.

Carcassonne Expansions I don't have.

I'm wanting to get my group into playing Traveller, so any FASA supplements would be awesome (I have just about everything from the original black book line).

I actually like a lot of the surprises I have gotten, games I would never have given a thought, but because they were in the box I tried them out.

Things we like in games here...

Worker placement
Action Points
Variable Player Powers
Co-ops
Wolfgang Kramer's designs
Uwe Rosenberg's Designs
Stefan Feld's Designs
I'm very much into airship, science fiction, and mad scientist themes.

I also personally like Simultaneous Action Selection and abstracts with really cool bits. Some older games really appeal to me, particularly if they have mechanics that feel like Euros.

What we're not into...

If I were to say there is one thing we don't like, it's zombie-themed games. It never appealed to me. Only place they are tolerable is D&D.

We also don't gravitate towards horror themes or Cthulu, though I don't despise them.
