And a few scant days after our return from BGG, it was Turkey Day time!

And while I was as usual somewhat disappointed that I didn't get to spend the holiday with my family, I was quite blessed to have my OWN first Thanksgiving ever in my own house, S.M.M. ( No, I didn't cook anything but dessert, I bought the whole shebang, Turkey and all!) And so of course there were games aplenty!!....

So very happy Tony had the idea to pull this out of my library and finally get this to the table as Juan and crew and I had had the intention to do so many times, yet had never gotten around to it.

On the first blush, this definitely seems like something I would love. It has double think along the lines of Hoity Toity but in this incarnation you are trying be a kitty cat who gets the best foods and poo lows and such to try to get to the end of path. It all looks very solid in concept, but in execution....

For one, there's a far too devastating possibility that if you bid to try to get something someone else wants at the wrong time, you have to go COMPLETELY back to the beginning. Also , with a full set of 5 people playing, the chances that you are indeed trying to go for something that NO ONE else is are very small so most turns only ONE person gets to do anything.

I know this is still at heart a kiddie game and not supposed to be some wizardly example of design balance, but this is far too flawed even for what it is. I might give this another try sometime and I am very glad I played it, but MEH.

SCORES:

Cati WIN to end first ( another flaw in this title.. Cati for a while was placing her bid of what goody to get BLIND -- yes this can happen in double think games but if that's TOO likely than something seems to be wrong in the balance)

Tony 2nd by 2 spaces
Aimee/Kel/Cole WAY WAY behind back towards the beginning of the path

I adored this awesome little title which combines elements of collecting favors and take that from a given tableux all sort of in the world of my beloved Marrying' Mr. Darcy. I really liked how quickly this moved and all the flavor, but it does seem that there is a slight issue in balance since none of us spent much time trying to put the gossips on the other people and concentrated on getting the points.

An adorable little game, unfortunately half our group was not as taken with it as I insuring that I need to only get this to the table with other members of my crews from now on.

SCORES:

Tony--Lord VulvaCrusher--- another awesome thing about this game is you get to get a dry erase character icon and write down your own name for them ) -- 19 ( WIN)

Aimee Lord Senor Valdemort ManBaby-- 5
Cati- Lord Baby Hips -- 6 Also thanks to Cati for teaching my copy !!

I had a bit of advantage here playing against 3 people who have never played this before, but that certainly did not GUARANTEE any sort of excellent performance from yours truly in this play-- one of the last of the year to completely my plays of this -- my favorite auction game-- which had a slot on my Play 10x in 2014 list.

Finally I remembered that sometimes trying to drive the end of the season is NOT the best thing to do .. and Cole and Tony were not paying attention to the fact that I was going to end the last two seasons with more Browns and that I already had a healthy set of them and they were scoring in 3 of the 4 seasons.. and voila --- Kel wins something again !! ( And I think one of the only 3 times I have indeed won this !!)

Cole $392
Kel $532 WIN
Aimee $352
Tony $442

Another excellent and awesome choice by Tony from my library. How this wonderfully constructed and downright ingenious little Sid Sackson obscure title is so little known and played is a mystery,

Everyone has a card that shows a color combo of colored tokens that if collected, you get X amount of money for that combo. In each of the quickly moving rounds everyone makes a secret auction bid to be the first person to get to choose from the bag of colored tokens to get the colors they want. Three of the rounds your combo if you make one counts double.

And that's really all there is to it. But from seeming like nothing interesting, or at worst, inane in description comes a game that is absolutely brilliant.

What was NOT brilliant was my strategy. I always did a good job bidding high to make sure I got all the colored tokens I want to make my highest combos. But the idea that I had that such a strategy was valid went out the window when Tony and Aimee rather expertly realized that this is what I was ALWAYS doing , therefore keeping their bids way, way low, thus keeping more of their money at the possible risk of not getting the colored tokens they wanted.

Their strategy totally worked as they battled to a TIE leaving me in the dust. I loved this so much that not only do I so much want to play this again , this narrowly didn't make the cut of obscurities to put on my 10x in 2015 list !!

SCORES:

Tony and Aimee $985K TIE FOR WIN
Kel $645K

Another awesome little obscurity from a famed designer hit the table on our Turkey day. And we all loved it, so much that this title is indeed going to have a spot on my Play10x in 2015 list and Tony hunted him a copy for himself !

Another wonderful obscure little design that really looks like nothing in description : This is just Yahtzee Meets Concentration.

You have a board you are trying to fill of three dice face conbos, 2 of a kind, 3 of a kind etc, and all 1s , all 2s etc. But instead of rolling dice you are choosing turned-over hidden tokens with dice faces on them off a rather HUGE array-- and you have to make rather agonizing decisions. After you turn over your first of three tokens, you must COMMIT to which slot combo you are going to put them in. Hence, if you first choose a three, and decide to go for your 3s , you certainly hope to get more 3s or else you are out of luck ! But in virtually all cases the tokens turn back around and stay in play so you can hope to remember where certain token faces are on your turn.

Again such a simple idea for what turns out to be a really incredibly little game.

Aimee did the best remembering where certain numbers were for her highest scoring combos for the win !!

Tony 83
Kel 80
AImee 96 WIN

And our final game of our Turkey Day gaming was this old game show obscurity that will take it's place again on my 10x list for this year., It moves incredibly quickly and bar none always garners the most hilarity.

Aimee did the best in her bonus rounds of the game she won for cementing another victory !! ( I also in my last game guessed Eye Guess THREE times in a row and I was wrong EVERY time. )

SCORES: Tony $1600
Kel $3065
Aimee $7085

NOTABLE QUOTES :

Wrongly chosen hilarious answers :

Where do you keep your neck when standing straight up? -- In the freezer
What do you do with dirty laundry? -- Sprinkle it With Fertilizer
Who do you call to cheer yourself up? -- The Naval Academy Cadet Football Team
