It falls unto me again to host an Easter themed geeklist similar to last year's (GCL Beehive #46 - Happy Easter!)! It so happens that April Fools day was nestled within the Easter Week. Did anyone encounter an Easter Themed April Fool's joke?

For me it was special since last week all the kids were in the house and we celebrated Easter as a whole family. Being a complete family is getting rarer and rarer these days for me. I guess this ties in with last's week's geeklist about Transitions, since I feel this will be a year full of that. In any case, my question for the group is: Which Easter Week in your life was the most memorable for you?

The weather bureau here also announced that last week was the official start of summer here. Any major activities you have planned this year when summer hits your country?

The Easter holiday last week also gave my gaming group an opportunity for several days of gaming, and that was a blast! While a lucky notable few can get a lot of games played during the week (guess who? name starts with an Sh..hint hint), not everyone has that luxury.

Are there any stretches of the year where you usually plan to indulge in a marathon of gaming?

No repeat plays for me this week, and almost all games played with adults over the Easter weekend - although my children were off school last week, gaming did not feature highly on the list of activities - we've been playing with Lego Friends, electronic games (Minecraft and Plants v Zombies 2), and doing other activities such as swimming and Easter themed crafts and baking. Libertalia is picked as my entry, as my only new game in the week.

Gaming with other adults:

1 x 7 Wonders, Agricola, Alchemists, Alhambra, Amun-Re, Ave Caesar, 6 Nimmt, Halli Galli, Lewis and Clark, Libertalia , Lords of Waterdeep, Lost Cities, Machi Koro, Marvel Dice Masters: Uncanny X-Men, Maya, Modern Art, Race for the Galaxy, Schotten-Totten, Showmanager, Dobble, Stone Age, Strasbourg, Suburbia, Terra Mystica, Timeline, Vampire, Vegas Showdown

Gaming with my children:

1 x Build a Better Burger

Not much gaming here this past week - although a requested game of Gulo Gulo on Easter (egg theme!!) by my daughter expanded to the full family, and ended up with me dropping the eggs many times. I am awful at this game, but still really enjoy it. And, as expected, my daughter won, with quick, small and sure fingers.

Also, lost a match of Summoner Wars: Master Set to my son.

Pocket Battles x 1
Mythotopia x 1
Race for the Galaxy x 2
Kingdom Builder x 1
Star Realms x 1
Carcassonne: The Discovery x 1

+ The Great Dalmuti at the games club.

Splendor was the hit of the week! I've played it 2p against my brother-in-law, 3p against my brother and nephew and 4p against various opponents and it's worked great in every game.

Although my nephew seems to win almost every game he plays! He's forbidden from our Splendor games from now on!

Gaming over the last week involved a quick lunchtime session, a trip to a local games club (well, actually round someone's house in lieu of the normal club meetup) and a visit from a friend and his son for some family gaming. A good selection played, I reckon, though mostly lightweight fun.

Games played in groups including Miss B (and another kid)...
5   Captain Clueless: Lost in the Caribbean - this is becoming our standard inter-family challenge game; we won this time.
4   Prickly Pile-Up x2 - silly stacking of wooden hedgehogs.
8   Piece o' Cake - a game on our 10x10 list that has fallen rather behind schedule.
6   Loopin' Louie - more silliness.
6.5   GUBS: A Game of Wit and Luck - our go-to "take that!" game, and also on our 10x10 list.

In adult-only groups...
7   Cartagena - the guys at work really like this, so I had to bring it again.
N/A   Lancaster - my first play of this, and I rather like it; want to play again.
N/A   Click & Crack - amusing, but due to an uneven start, I won far too quickly; though nobody knew what they were doing at first, which probably made a difference. Cute though.
7.5   Ca$h 'n Guns (second edition) - produced the necessary laughs to round off the evening.

Obviously Netrunner has taken over in my house. At first, for nearly a year, it was just Donte and I. But now Antony is playing too. Complete takeover.

But I'll make Medieval Academy the family Game-of-the-Week, and mention that it is the only game in the running right now for my coveted (and entirely personal) Family Game-of-the-Year award for 2015. Medieval Academy combines card drafting with area majority, and it is a fun step-up from Sushi Go!, but not quite as complicated as 7 Wonders. A really nice family gateway game. Highly recommend.

 10   Android: Netrunner x11
N/A   Tsuro x2: New to us. Okay, but why don't we just play Indigo?
 8   Carcassonne
 7   Catan
 9   Dominion
 8   Egizia
 8   Love Letter
 7   Medieval Academy
 7   Montgolfiere
N/A   Oasis: New to us. I liked this old Alan Moon design. And I'd like to play it again. It certainly reminds me of Through the Desert. But unlike that game, I'm not sure about the strategy in Oasis. I won the first time I played, with experienced players at the table. Usually I don't like games where that happens...
 9   Ra
7   San Juan: I continue to enjoy what the expansion does for the game thumbsup
 7   Splendor
 8   Stone Age
 9   Ticket to Ride
8   Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar: Antony beats me at this, a nice win for him.

A really great week of gaming, with nothing but favorite -7- - rated games on the list. Pretty cool.
