As today Is international table top day I thought it would be a good time to make a list of my top ten games of all time. Mostly for fun, but also a lot of work went into this so I could personally see my favorite games. so lets jump into it.

10) Robinson Crusoe

Robinson Crusoe is a Highly thematic, cooperative euro game, very unique to be sure. It is the only cooperative game that I have yet to win, but every-time I play the game I have some sort of story to tell after the game has been played like man we were so close if only we could have found the cure for the snake bite sooner. things like that. the game also has a lot of deep strategy and long term planing as well it really give you the feel of trying to survive on a island so this great cooperative worker placement game takes my 10th slot.

9) Through the Ages

probably the heavyset game on this list through the ages is a great civilization building game. its a great game where you all start out the same, and then though card drafting, you build your own unique civilization. The game is not an easy one to learn or to teach, but it is worth looking at if you really like civilization building games.

8) Alien Frontiers

Alien Frontiers is a dice/worker placement/area control game. and these are really my 3 favorite types of games melded into one. The game also has a resource management aspect to it. what really makes the game stand out to me thought is the alien tech cards, and the unique area powers. in the game you are trying to score the most points my settling a newly found planet. if you have more settlements in an area you have control of that area and get the areas unique power and points for controlling it. its a really fun back and forth push and pull euro game, but with a lot of player interaction, because of the area control mechanic, and the alien tech cards you can acquire. some let you take and use the other players dice, others let you destroy other players dice, or manipulate the colonies on the planet its just a great game.

7) Seasons

bit of a spoiler but seasons is the last euro style game on the list, I really like seasons, because of theme, but also because I love card drafting and making cool combos that do really cool things. I absolutely love the artwork, other than the creepy bunny. I love the player interaction that comes thought with many of the cards; and you have to love the huge over sized dice. its such a good game I absolutely love the game and it is my favorite euro style game.

6) Fire in the Lake

This is the newest of the games on my list, It came out last year, but I did not get to play it tell yearly this year. So my love for the game may die down over time, but as of right now I'm really intrigued with the game. the game is a war game that is a moderately heavy game. Its a card driven area control game for 1-4 players I find it best with 4 or 2. This game takes on the task of reenacting the Vietnam war and it dose a good job. there is a great push and pull give and take element in the game, that surely existed during the conflict, and is what made the conflict so messy this really comes thought in a 4 player game. the game has great asymmetrical play, and has an extreme depth of strategy in the game.

5) Cosmic Encounter

Cosmic Encounter is simply one of the funnest asymmetrical games there is. I love the player interaction the negotiation between players the alien powers each players have make the game feel unique and fresh every time just an absolutely amazing game. you will never play the same game twice so much verity and it is super simple to teach and to learn set up and take down is easy and usually plays pretty quickly great fun asymmetrical player negotiation game just a good solid game as we move into the upper half of my list.

4) Twilight Struggle

Twilight Struggle is a two player card drivin strategy card game, the game itself is very simple, play a card do what it says and/or use the operation points listed on the card to conduct operations across the globe. each player ether takes on the US or the USSR during the cold war. the game is highly thematic and has deep strategy involved as well the game is one of my favorite two player games because of the back and forth card play and the tough dissension that have to be made.

3) Battlelore (2nd edition)

I love miniature combat, but miniature game tend to be on the very pricey side and as a collage student, I really need to keep things on a budget. So when battlelore came out I was super stoked it is by far my favorite of the command and color games, mostly because of theme as I love fantasy. Battlelore offers great tactical choices and has a strategic depth not seen by many players that are new or critical of the command and colors game system, it is just such a great very light tactical fantasy miniature combat game the only thing I could as more would be elves, undead, dwarfs, orcs... etc just more armies please!

2) Defenders of the Realm

Defenders of the Realm is my co-op game of choice. It has a fell like pandemic, but with a theme that I'm actually interested in. The game really comes alive though quest cards and the game is super immersive. at times there can be a little role playing as well. the game really evolves and tells you a story and you will have many stories to tell when you play the game this for me is the definitive fantasy co-op game and Ill play it at a drop of a hat. It is just such a fun game and it is always a great experience or story that flows from the game play even when you lose, just such an amazing game.

1) War of the Ring

I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, and really fantasy in general if you could not tell from the list. War of the Ring is the definitive Lord of the Ring game. it reenacts the war of the ring so well. I always feel more than satisfied after playing a game of war of the ring. the game is so great and its fairly easy to teach and learn because of great player aids, and the simple action selection from action dice. I love the simplicity of the game system and how it brings to life such a great immersive experience. I am hoping that ares games will release more games in the same line as they released battle of the five armies this past year it would be cool to see the battle for helms deep or the battle of minis tirith, or the siege of Erebor during the war of the ring, well here is to hoping. War of the Ring my number one game of all time deep strategy , super immersive, and a great game system.

I hope you enjoyed my short list of my top ten games of all time and have a happy international table top day!

This is a good list of games, even if not formatted like a normal geeklist.
